Edge pancyclic Cayley graphs on symmetric group
We study the derangement graph $Γ_n$ whose vertex set consists of all permutations of $\{1,\ldots,n\}$, where two vertices are adjacent if and only if their corresponding permutations differ at every position. It is well-known that $Γ_n$ is a Cayley graph, Hamiltonian and Hamilton-connected. In this paper, we prove that for $n \geq 4$, the derangement graph $Γ_n$ is edge pancyclic. Moreover, we extend this result to two broader classes of Cayley graphs defined on symmetric group.
Sets avoiding a rainbow solution to the generalized Schur equation
A classical result in combinatorial number theory states that the largest subset of $[n]$ avoiding a solution to the equation $x+y=z$ is of size $\lceil n/2 \rceil$. For all integers $k>m$, we prove multicolored extensions of this result where we maximize the sum and product of the sizes of sets $A_1,A_2,\dots,A_k \subseteq [n]$ avoiding a rainbow solution to the Schur equation $x_1+x_2+\dots+x_m=x_{m+1}$. Moreover, we determine all the extremal families.

Treewidth of generalized Hamming graph, bipartite Kneser graph and generalized Petersen graph
Let $t,q$ and $n$ be positive integers. Write $[q] = \{1,2,\ldots,q\}$. The generalized Hamming graph $H(t,q,n)$ is the graph whose vertex set is the cartesian product of $n$ copies of $[q]$ ($q\ge 2$), where two vertices are adjacent if their Hamming distance is at most $t$. In particular, $H(1,q,n)$ is the well-known Hamming graph and $H(1,2,n)$ is the hypercube. In 2006, Chandran and Kavitha described the asymptotic value of $tw(H(1,q,n))$, where $tw(G)$ denotes the treewidth of $G$. In this paper, we give the exact pathwidth of $H(t,2,n)$ and show that $tw(H(t,q,n)) = Θ(tq^n/\sqrt{n})$ when $n$ goes to infinity. Based on those results, we show that the treewidth of the bipartite Kneser graph $BK(n,k)$ is $\binom{n}{k} - 1$ when $n$ is sufficiently large relative to $k$ and the bounds of $tw(BK(2k+1,k))$ are given. Moreover, we present the bounds of the treewidth of the generalized Petersen graph.

Hilton-Milner theorem for $k$-multisets
Let $ k, n \in \mathbb{N}^+ $ and $ m \in \mathbb{N}^+ \cup \{\infty \} $. A $ k $-multiset in $ [n]_m $ is a $ k $-set whose elements are integers from $ \{1, 2, \ldots, n\} $, and each element is allowed to have at most $ m $ repetitions. A family of $ k $-multisets in $ [n]_m $ is said to be intersecting if every pair of $ k $-multisets from the family have non-empty intersection. In this paper, we give the size and structure of the largest non-trivial intersecting family of $ k $-multisets in $ [n]_m $ for $ n \geq k + \lceil k/m \rceil $. In the special case when $m=\infty$, our result gives rise to an unbounded multiset version for Hilton-Milner Theorem given by Meagher and Purdy. Furthermore, our main theorem unites the statements of the Hilton-Milner Theorem for finite sets and unbounded multisets.

Erdős-Ko-Rado Theorem for Bounded Multisets
Let $ k, m, n $ be positive integers with $ k \geq 2 $. A $ k $-multiset of $ [n]_m $ is a collection of $ k $ integers from the set $ \{1, 2, \ldots, n\} $ in which the integers can appear more than once but at most $ m $ times. A family of such $ k $-multisets is called an intersecting family if every pair of $ k $-multisets from the family have non-empty intersection. A finite sequence of real numbers $\{a_1,a_2,\ldots,a_n\}$ is said to be unimodal if there is some $k\in \{1,2,\ldots,n\}$, such that $a_1\leq a_2\leq\ldots\leq a_{k-1}\leq a_k\geq a_{k+1}\geq \ldots\geq a_n$. Given $m,n,k$, denote $C_{k,l}$ as the coefficient of $x^k$ in the generating function $(\sum_{i=1}^mx^i)^l$, where $1\leq l\leq n$. In this paper, we first show that the sequence of $\{C_{k,1},C_{k,2},\ldots,C_{k,n}\}$ is unimodal. Then we use this as a tool to prove that the intersecting family in which every $ k $-multiset contains a fixed element attains the maximum cardinality for $ n \geq k + \lceil k/m\rceil $. In the special case when $m = 1$ and $m=\infty$, our result gives rise to the famous Erdős-Ko-Rado Theorem and an unbounded multiset version for this problem given by Meagher and Purdy, respectively. The main result in this paper can be viewed as a bounded multiset version of the Erdős-Ko-Rado Theorem.
The maximum number of cliques in graphs with bounded odd circumference
Published • View PublicationBIB
In this work, we give the sharp upper bound for the number of cliques in graphs with bounded odd circumferences. This generalized Turán-type result is an extension of the celebrated Erdős and Gallai theorem and a strengthening of Luo's recent result. The same bound for graphs with bounded even circumferences is a trivial application of the theorem of Li and Ning.
Generalized Turan number for the edge blow-up graph
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $H$ be a graph and $p$ be an integer. The edge blow-up $H^p$ of $H$ is the graph obtained from replacing each edge in $H$ by a copy of $K_p$ where the new vertices of the cliques are all distinct. Let $C_k$ and $P_k$ denote the cycle and path of length $k$, respectively. In this paper, we find sharp upper bounds for $ex(n,K_3,C_3^3)$ and the exact value for $ ex(n,K_3,P_3^3)$ and determine the graphs attaining these bounds.
Edges not covered by monochromatic bipartite graphs
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $f_k(n,H)$ denote the maximum number of edges not contained in any monochromatic copy of~$H$ in a $k$-coloring of the edges of $K_n$, and let $ex(n,H)$ denote the Turán number of $H$. In place of $f_2(n,H)$ we simply write $f(n,H)$. Keevash and Sudakov proved that $f(n,H)=ex(n,H)$ if $H$ is an edge-critical graph or $C_4$ and asked if this equality holds for any graph $H$. All known exact values of this question require $H$ to contain at least one cycle. In this paper we focus on acyclic graphs and have the following results: (1) We prove $f(n,H)=ex(n,H)$ when $H$ is a spider or a double broom. (2) A \emph{tail} in $H$ is a path $P_3=v_0v_1v_2$ such that $v_2$ is only adjacent to $v_1$ and $v_1$ is only adjacent to $v_0,v_2$ in $H$. We obtain a tight upper bound for $f(n,H)$ when $H$ is a bipartite graph with a tail. This result provides the first bipartite graphs which answer the question of Keevash and Sudakov in the negative. (3) Liu, Pikhurko and Sharifzadeh asked if $f_k(n,T)=(k-1)ex(n,T)$ when $T$ is a tree. We provide an upper bound for $f_{2k}(n,P_{2k})$ and show it is tight when $2k-1$ is prime. This provides a negative answer to their question.
Exact results for generalized extremal problems forbidding an even cycle
We determine the maximum number of copies of $K_{s,s}$ in a $C_{2s+2}$-free $n$-vertex graph for all integers $s \ge 2$ and sufficiently large $n$. Moreover, for $s\in\{2,3\}$ and any integer $n$ we obtain the maximum number of cycles of length $2s$ in an $n$-vertex $C_{2s+2}$-free bipartite graph.
Stability version of Dirac's theorem and its applications for generalized Turán problems
Published • View PublicationBIB
In 1952, Dirac proved that every $2$-connected $n$-vertex graph with the minimum degree $k+1$ contains a cycle of length at least $\min\{n, 2(k+1)\}$. Here we obtain a stability version of this result by characterizing those graphs with minimum degree $k$ and circumference at most $2k+1$. We present applications of the above-stated result by obtaining generalized Turán numbers. In particular, for all $\ell \geq 5$ we determine how many copies of a five-cycle as well as four-cycle are necessary to guarantee that the graph has circumference larger than $\ell$. In addition, we give a new proof of Luo's Theorem for cliques using our stability result.

Edge pancyclic derangement graphs
We consider the derangement graph in which the vertices are permutations of $\{ 1,\ldots, n\}$. Two vertices are joined by an edge if the corresponding permutations differ in every position. The derangement graph is known to be Hamiltonian and Hamilton-connected. In this note, we show that the derangement graph is edge pancyclic if $n\ge 4$.
The maximum number of copies of an even cycle in a planar graph

We resolve a conjecture of Cox and Martin by determining asymptotically for every $k\ge 2$ the maximum number of copies of $C_{2k}$ in an $n$-vertex planar graph.
Extremal results for graphs avoiding a rainbow subgraph
Published • View PublicationBIB
We say that $k$ graphs $G_1,G_2,\dots,G_k$ on a common vertex set of size $n$ contain a rainbow copy of a graph $H$ if their union contains a copy of $H$ with each edge belonging to a distinct $G_i$. We provide a counterexample to a conjecture of Frankl on the maximum product of the sizes of the edge sets of three graphs avoiding a rainbow triangle. We propose an alternative conjecture, which we prove under the additional assumption that the union of the three graphs is complete. Furthermore, we determine the maximum product of the sizes of the edge sets of three graphs or four graphs avoiding a rainbow path of length three.

Rainbow Independent Sets in Cycles
For a given class ${\cal C}$ of graphs and given integers $m \le n$, let $f_{\cal C}(n,m)$ be the minimal number $k$ such that every $k$ independent $n$-sets in any graph belonging to ${\cal C}$ have a (possibly partial) rainbow independent $m$-set. In this paper, we consider the case ${\cal C}=\{C_{2s+1}\}$ and show that $f_{C_{2s+1}}(s, s) = s$. Our result is a special case of the conjecture (Conjecture 2.9) proposed by Aharoni et al in \cite{Aharoni}.

Treewidth of the $q$-Kneser graphs
Let $V$ be an $n$-dimensional vector space over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$, where $q$ is a prime power. Define the \emph{generalized $q$-Kneser graph} $K_q(n,k,t)$ to be the graph whose vertices are the $k$-dimensional subspaces of $V$ and two vertices $F_1$ and $F_2$ are adjacent if $\dim(F_1\cap F_2)<t$. Then $K_q(n,k,1)$ is the well-known $q$-Kneser graph. In this paper, we determine the treewidth of $K_q(n,k,t)$ for $n\geq 2t(k-t+1)+k+1$ and $t\ge 1$ exactly. Note that $K_q(n,k,k-1)$ is the complement of the Grassmann graph $G_q(n,k)$. We give a more precise result for the treewidth of $\overline{G_q(n,k)}$ for any possible $n$, $k$ and $q$.
