Breaking the degeneracy barrier for coloring graphs with no $K_t$ minor
Published • View PublicationBIB
In 1943, Hadwiger conjectured that every graph with no $K_t$ minor is $(t-1)$-colorable for every $t\geq 1$. In the 1980s, Kostochka and Thomason independently proved that every graph with no $K_t$ minor has average degree $O(t\sqrt{\log t})$ and hence is $O(t\sqrt{\log t})$-colorable. We show that every graph with no $K_t$ minor is $O(t(\log t)^β)$-colorable for every $β> 1/4$, making the first improvement on the order of magnitude of the Kostochka-Thomason bound.

Antimagic orientations of graphs with given independence number
Published • View PublicationBIB
Given a digraph $D$ with $m$ arcs and a bijection $τ: A(D)\rightarrow \{1, 2, \ldots, m\}$, we say $(D, τ)$ is an antimagic orientation of a graph $G$ if $D$ is an orientation of $G$ and no two vertices in $D$ have the same vertex-sum under $τ$, where the vertex-sum of a vertex $u$ in $D$ under $τ$ is the sum of labels of all arcs entering $u$ minus the sum of labels of all arcs leaving $u$. Hefetz, Mütze, and Schwartz in 2010 initiated the study of antimagic orientations of graphs, and conjectured that every connected graph admits an antimagic orientation. This conjecture seems hard, and few related results are known. However, it has been verified to be true for regular graphs, biregular bipartite graphs, and graphs with large maximum degree. In this paper, we establish more evidence for the aforementioned conjecture by studying antimagic orientations of graphs $G$ with independence number at least $|V(G)|/2$ or at most four. We obtain several results. The method we develop in this paper may shed some light on attacking the aforementioned conjecture.
Antimagic orientations of graphs with large maximum degree

Given a digraph $D$ with $m $ arcs, a bijection $τ: A(D)\rightarrow \{1, 2, \ldots, m\}$ is an antimagic labeling of $D$ if no two vertices in $D$ have the same vertex-sum, where the vertex-sum of a vertex $u $ in $D$ under $τ$ is the sum of labels of all arcs entering $u$ minus the sum of labels of all arcs leaving $u$. We say $(D, τ)$ is an antimagic orientation of a graph $G$ if $D$ is an orientation of $G$ and $τ$ is an antimagic labeling of $D$. Motivated by the conjecture of Hartsfield and Ringel from 1990 on antimagic labelings of graphs, Hefetz, Mütze, and Schwartz in 2010 initiated the study of antimagic orientations of graphs, and conjectured that every connected graph admits an antimagic orientation. This conjecture seems hard, and few related results are known. However, it has been verified to be true for regular graphs and biregular bipartite graphs. In this paper, we prove that every connected graph $G$ on $n\ge9$ vertices with maximum degree at least $n-5$ admits an antimagic orientation.

Gallai-Ramsey number of even cycles with chords
Published • View PublicationBIB
For a graph $H$ and an integer $k\ge1$, the $k$-color Ramsey number $R_k(H)$ is the least integer $N$ such that every $k$-coloring of the edges of the complete graph $K_N$ contains a monochromatic copy of $H$. Let $C_m$ denote the cycle on $m\ge4$ vertices and let $Θ_m$ denote the family of graphs obtained from $C_m$ by adding an additional edge joining two non-consecutive vertices. Unlike Ramsey number of odd cycles, little is known about the general behavior of $R_k(C_{2n})$ except that $R_k(C_{2n})\ge (n-1)k+n+k-1$ for all $k\ge2$ and $n\ge2$. In this paper, we study Ramsey number of even cycles with chords under Gallai colorings, where a Gallai coloring is a coloring of the edges of a complete graph without rainbow triangles. For an integer $k\geq 1$, the Gallai-Ramsey number $GR_k(H)$ of a graph $H$ is the least positive integer $N$ such that every Gallai $k$-coloring of the complete graph $K_N$ contains a monochromatic copy of $H$. We prove that $GR_k(Θ_{2n})=(n-1)k+n+1$ for all $k\geq 2$ and $n\geq 3$. This implies that $GR_k(C_{2n})=(n-1)k+n+1$ all $k\geq 2$ and $n\geq 3$. Our result yields a unified proof for the Gallai-Ramsey number of all even cycles on at least four vertices.

A note on Gallai-Ramsey number of even wheels
A Gallai coloring of a complete graph is an edge-coloring such that no triangle has all its edges colored differently. A Gallai $k$-coloring is a Gallai coloring that uses $k$ colors. Given a graph $H$ and an integer $k\geq 1$, the Gallai-Ramsey number $GR_k(H)$ of $H$ is the least positive integer $N$ such that every Gallai $k$-coloring of the complete graph $K_N$ contains a monochromatic copy of $H$. Let $W_{2n} $ denote an even wheel on $2n+1\ge5$ vertices. In this note, we study Gallai-Ramsey number of $W_{2n}$ and completely determine the exact value of $GR_k(W_4)$ for all $k\ge2$.

On the size of $(K_t,\mathcal{T}_k)$-co-critical graphs
Given an integer $r\ge1$ and graphs $G, H_1, \ldots, H_r$, we write $G \rightarrow ({H}_1, \ldots, {H}_r)$ if every $r$-coloring of the edges of $G$ contains a monochromatic copy of $H_i$ in color $i$ for some $i\in\{1, \ldots, r\}$. A non-complete graph $G$ is $(H_1, \ldots, H_r)$-co-critical if $G \nrightarrow ({H}_1, \ldots, {H}_r)$, but $G+e\rightarrow ({H}_1, \ldots, {H}_r)$ for every edge $e$ in $\overline{G}$. In this paper, motivated by Hanson and Toft's conjecture [Edge-colored saturated graphs, J Graph Theory 11(1987), 191--196], we study the minimum number of edges over all $(K_t, \mathcal{T}_k)$-co-critical graphs on $n$ vertices, where $\mathcal{T}_k$ denotes the family of all trees on $k$ vertices. Following Day [Saturated graphs of prescribed minimum degree, Combin. Probab. Comput. 26 (2017), 201--207], we apply graph bootstrap percolation on a not necessarily $K_t$-saturated graph to prove that for all $t\ge4 $ and $k\ge \max\{6, t\}$, there exists a constant $c(t, k)$ such that, for all $n \ge (t-1)(k-1)+1$, if $G$ is a $(K_t, \mathcal{T}_k)$-co-critical graph on $n$ vertices, then $$ e(G)\ge \left(\frac{4t-9}{2}+\frac{1}{2}\left\lceil \frac{k}{2} \right\rceil\right)n-c(t, k).$$ Furthermore, this linear bound is asymptotically best possible when $t\in\{4,5\}$ and $k\ge6$. The method we develop in this paper may shed some light on attacking Hanson and Toft's conjecture.

Our result yields a unified proof for the Gallai-Ramsey number of all odd cycles on at least five vertices.

Gallai-Ramsey numbers of $C_{10}$ and $C_{12}$
A Gallai coloring is a coloring of the edges of a complete graph without rainbow triangles, and a Gallai $k$-coloring is a Gallai coloring that uses $k$ colors. Given an integer $k\ge1$ and graphs $H_1, \ldots, H_k$, the Gallai-Ramsey number $GR(H_1, \ldots, H_k)$ is the least integer $n$ such that every Gallai $k$-coloring of the complete graph $K_n$ contains a monochromatic copy of $H_i$ in color $i$ for some $i \in \{1, \ldots, k\}$. When $H = H_1 = \cdots = H_k$, we simply write $GR_k(H)$. We continue to study Gallai-Ramsey numbers of even cycles and paths. For all $n\ge3$ and $k\ge1$, let $G_i=P_{2i+3}$ be a path on $2i+3$ vertices for all $i\in\{0,1, \ldots, n-2\}$ and $G_{n-1}\in\{C_{2n}, P_{2n+1}\}$. Let $ i_j\in\{0,1,\ldots, n-1\}$ for all $j\in\{1, \ldots, k\}$ with $ i_1\ge i_2\ge\cdots\ge i_k $. Song recently conjectured that $GR(G_{i_1}, \ldots, G_{i_k}) = 3+\min\{i_1, n^*-2\}+\sum_{j=1}^k i_j$, where $n^* =n$ when $G_{i_1}\ne P_{2n+1}$ and $n^* =n+1$ when $G_{i_1}= P_{2n+1}$. This conjecture has been verified to be true for $n\in\{3,4\}$ and all $k\ge1$. In this paper, we prove that the aforementioned conjecture holds for $n \in\{5, 6\}$ and all $k \ge1$. Our result implies that for all $k \ge 1$, $GR_k(C_{2n}) = GR_k(P_{2n}) = (n-1)k+n+1$ for $n\in\{5,6\}$ and $GR_k(P_{2n+1})= (n-1)k+n+2$ for $1\le n \le6 $.

Improved Upper Bounds for Gallai-Ramsey Numbers of Odd Cycles
A Gallai coloring of a complete graph is an edge-coloring such that no triangle has all its edges colored differently. A Gallai $k$-coloring is a Gallai coloring that uses $k$ colors. Given an integer $k\ge1$ and a graph $H$, the Gallai-Ramsey number $GR_k(H)$ is the least positive integer $n$ such that every Gallai $k$-coloring of the complete graph $K_n$ contains a monochromatic copy of $H$. Gyárfás, Sárközy, Sebő and Selkow proved in 2010 that $GR_k (H) $ is exponential in $k$ if $H$ is not bipartite, linear in $k$ if $H$ is bipartite but not a star, and constant (does not depend on $k$) when $H$ is a star. Hence, $GR_k(H)$ is more well-behaved than the classical Ramsey number $R_k(H)$. However, finding exact values of $GR_k (H)$ is far from trivial, even when $|V(H)|$ is small. In this paper, we first improve the existing upper bounds for Gallai-Ramsey numbers of odd cycles by showing that $GR_k(C_{2n+1}) \le (n\ln n) \cdot 2^k -(k+1)n+1$ for all $k \ge 3$ and $n \ge 8$. We then prove that $GR_k( C_{13})= 6\cdot 2^k+1$ and $GR_k( C_{15})= 7\cdot 2^k+1$ for all $k\ge1$.

Saturation numbers for Ramsey-minimal graphs
Published • View PublicationBIB
Given graphs $H_1, \dots, H_t$, a graph $G$ is $(H_1, \dots, H_t)$-Ramsey-minimal if every $t$-coloring of the edges of $G$ contains a monochromatic $H_i$ in color $i$ for some $i\in\{1, \dots, t\}$, but any proper subgraph of $G $ does not possess this property. We define $\mathcal{R}_{\min}(H_1, \dots, H_t)$ to be the family of $(H_1, \dots, H_t)$-Ramsey-minimal graphs. A graph $G$ is \dfn{$\mathcal{R}_{\min}(H_1, \dots, H_t)$-saturated} if no element of $\mathcal{R}_{\min}(H_1, \dots, H_t)$ is a subgraph of $G$, but for any edge $e$ in $\overline{G}$, some element of $\mathcal{R}_{\min}(H_1, \dots, H_t)$ is a subgraph of $G + e$. We define $sat(n, \mathcal{R}_{\min}(H_1, \dots, H_t))$ to be the minimum number of edges over all $\mathcal{R}_{\min}(H_1, \dots, H_t)$-saturated graphs on $n$ vertices. In 1987, Hanson and Toft conjectured that $sat(n, \mathcal{R}_{\min}(K_{k_1}, \dots, K_{k_t}) )= (r - 2)(n - r + 2)+\binom{r - 2}{2} $ for $n \ge r$, where $r=r(K_{k_1}, \dots, K_{k_t})$ is the classical Ramsey number for complete graphs. The first non-trivial case of Hanson and Toft's conjecture for sufficiently large $n$ was setteled in 2011, and is so far the only settled case. Motivated by Hanson and Toft's conjecture, we study the minimum number of edges over all $\mathcal{R}_{\min}(K_3, \mathcal{T}_k)$-saturated graphs on $n$ vertices, where $\mathcal{T}_k$ is the family of all trees on $k$ vertices. We show that for $n \ge 18$, $sat(n, \mathcal{R}_{\min}(K_3, \mathcal{T}_4)) =\lfloor {5n}/{2}\rfloor$. For $k \ge 5$ and $n \ge 2k + (\lceil k/2 \rceil +1) \lceil k/2 \rceil -2$, we obtain an asymptotic bound for $sat(n, \mathcal{R}_{\min}(K_3, \mathcal{T}_k))$.

Extremal $H$-free planar graphs
Published • View PublicationBIB
Given a graph $H$, a graph is $H$-free if it does not contain $H$ as a subgraph. We continue to study the topic of "extremal" planar graphs, that is, how many edges can an $H$-free planar graph on $n$ vertices have? We define $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,H)$ to be the maximum number of edges in an $H$-free planar graph on $n $ vertices. We first obtain several sufficient conditions on $H$ which yield $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,H)=3n-6$ for all $n\ge |V(H)|$. We discover that the chromatic number of $H$ does not play a role, as in the celebrated Erdős-Stone Theorem. We then completely determine $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,H)$ when $H$ is a wheel or a star. Finally, we examine the case when $H$ is a $(t, r)$-fan, that is, $H$ is isomorphic to $K_1+tK_{r-1}$, where $t\ge2$ and $r\ge 3$ are integers. However, determining $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,H)$, when $H$ is a planar subcubic graph, remains wide open.

Erdős-Lovász Tihany Conjecture for graphs with forbidden holes
Published • View PublicationBIB
A hole in a graph is an induced cycle of length at least $4$. Let $s\ge2$ and $t\ge2$ be integers. A graph $G$ is $(s,t)$-splittable if $V(G)$ can be partitioned into two sets $S$ and $T$ such that $χ(G[S ]) \ge s$ and $χ(G[T ]) \ge t$. The well-known Erdős-Lovász Tihany Conjecture from 1968 states that every graph $G$ with $ω(G) < χ(G) = s + t - 1$ is $(s,t)$-splittable. This conjecture is hard, and few related results are known. However, it has been verified to be true for line graphs, quasi-line graphs, and graphs with independence number $2$. In this paper, we establish more evidence for the Erdős-Lovász Tihany Conjecture by showing that every graph $G$ with $α(G)\ge3$, $ω(G) < χ(G) = s + t - 1$, and no hole of length between $4$ and $2α(G)-1$ is $(s,t)$-splittable, where $α(G)$ denotes the independence number of a graph $G$.

A conjecture on Gallai-Ramsey numbers of even cycles and paths
A Gallai coloring is a coloring of the edges of a complete graph without rainbow triangles, and a Gallai $k$-coloring is a Gallai coloring that uses at most $k$ colors. Given an integer $k\ge1$ and graphs $H_1, \ldots, H_k$, the Gallai-Ramsey number $GR(H_1, \ldots, H_k)$ is the least integer $n$ such that every Gallai $k$-coloring of the complete graph $K_n$ contains a monochromatic copy of $H_i$ in color $i$ for some $i \in \{1,2, \ldots, k\}$. When $H = H_1 = \cdots = H_k$, we simply write $GR_k(H)$. We study Gallai-Ramsey numbers of even cycles and paths. For all $n\ge3$ and $k\ge2$, let $G_i=P_{2i+3}$ be a path on $2i+3$ vertices for all $i\in\{0,1, \ldots, n-2\}$ and $G_{n-1}\in\{C_{2n}, P_{2n+1}\}$. Let $ i_j\in\{0,1,\ldots, n-1 \}$ for all $j\in\{1,2, \ldots, k\}$ with $ i_1\ge i_2\ge\cdots\ge i_k $. The first author recently conjectured that $ GR(G_{i_1}, G_{i_2}, \ldots, G_{i_k}) = |G_{i_1}|+\sum_{j=2}^k i_j$. The truth of this conjecture implies that $GR_k(C_{2n})=GR_k(P_{2n})=(n-1)k+n+1$ for all $n\ge3$ and $k\ge1$, and $GR_k(P_{2n+1})=(n-1)k+n+2$ for all $n\ge1$ and $k\ge1$. In this paper, we prove that the aforementioned conjecture holds for $n\in\{3,4\}$ and all $k\ge2$. Our proof relies only on Gallai's result and the classical Ramsey numbers $R(H_1, H_2)$, where $H_1, H_2\in\{C_8, C_6, P_7, P_5, P_3\}$. We believe the recoloring method we developed here will be very useful for solving subsequent cases, and perhaps the conjecture.

Planar anti-Ramsey numbers of matchings
Published • View PublicationBIB
Given a positive integer $n$ and a planar graph $H$, let $\mathcal{T}_n(H)$ be the family of all plane triangulations $T$ on $n$ vertices such that $T$ contains a subgraph isomorphic to $H$. The planar anti-Ramsey number of $H$, denoted $ar_{_\mathcal{P}}(n, H)$, is the maximum number of colors in an edge-coloring of a plane triangulation $T\in \mathcal{T}_n(H)$ such that $T$ contains no rainbow copy of $H$. In this paper we study planar anti-Ramsey numbers of matchings. For all $t\ge1$, let $M_t$ denote a matching of size $t$. We prove that for all $t\ge6$ and $n\ge 3t-6$, $2n+3t-15\le ar_{_{\mathcal{P}}}(n, {M}_t)\le 2n+4t-14$, which significantly improves the existing lower and upper bounds for $ar_{_\mathcal{P}}(n, M_t)$. It seems that for each $t\ge6$, the lower bound we obtained is the exact value of $ar_{_{\mathcal{P}}}(n, {M}_t)$ for sufficiently large $n$. This is indeed the case for $M_6$. We prove that $ar_{_\mathcal{P}}(n, M_6)=2n+3$ for all $n\ge30$.

Multicolor Gallai-Ramsey numbers of $C_9$ and $C_{11}$
A Gallai coloring is a coloring of the edges of a complete graph without rainbow triangles, and a Gallai $k$-coloring is a Gallai coloring that uses $k$ colors. We study Ramsey-type problems in Gallai colorings. Given an integer $k\ge1$ and a graph $H$, the Gallai-Ramsey number $GR_k(H)$ is the least positive integer $n$ such that every Gallai $k$-coloring of the complete graph on $n$ vertices contains a monochromatic copy of $H$. It turns out that $GR_k(H)$ is more well-behaved than the classical Ramsey number $R_k(H)$. However, finding exact values of $GR_k (H)$ is far from trivial. In this paper, we study Gallai-Ramsey numbers of odd cycles. We prove that for $n\in\{4,5\}$ and all $k\ge1$, $GR_k(C_{2n+1})= n\cdot 2^k+1$. This new result provides partial evidence for the first two open cases of the Triple Odd Cycle Conjecture of Bondy and Erdős from 1973. Our technique relies heavily on the structural result of Gallai on Gallai colorings of complete graphs. We believe the method we developed can be used to determine the exact values of $GR_k(C_{2n+1})$ for all $n\ge6$.

Extremal Theta-free planar graphs

Given a family $\mathcal{F}$, a graph is $\mathcal{F}$-free if it does not contain any graph in $\mathcal{F}$ as a subgraph. We study the topic of "extremal" planar graphs initiated by Dowden [J. Graph Theory 83 (2016) 213--230], that is, how many edges can an $\mathcal{F}$-free planar graph on $n$ vertices have? We define $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,\mathcal{F})$ to be the maximum number of edges in an $\mathcal{F}$-free planar graph on $n $ vertices. Dowden obtained the tight bounds $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,C_4)\leq15(n-2)/7$ for all $n\geq4$ and $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,C_5)\leq(12n-33)/5$ for all $n\geq11$. In this paper, we continue to promote the idea of determining $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,\mathcal{F})$ for certain classes $\mathcal{F}$. Let $Θ_k$ denote the family of Theta graphs on $k\ge4$ vertices, that is, graphs obtained from a cycle $C_k$ by adding an additional edge joining two non-consecutive vertices. The study of $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,Θ_4)$ was suggested by Dowden. We show that $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,Θ_4)\leq12(n-2)/5$ for all $n\geq 4$, $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,Θ_5)\leq5(n-2)/2$ for all $n\ge5$, and then demonstrate that these bounds are tight, in the sense that there are infinitely many values of $n$ for which they are attained exactly. We also prove that $ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,C_6)\le ex_{_\mathcal{P}}(n,Θ_6)\le 18(n-2)/7$ for all $n\ge6$.

Gallai-Ramsey numbers of $C_9$ with multiple colors
We study Ramsey-type problems in Gallai-colorings. Given a graph $G$ and an integer $k\ge1$, the Gallai-Ramsey number $gr_k(K_3,G)$ is the least positive integer $n$ such that every $k$-coloring of the edges of the complete graph on $n$ vertices contains either a rainbow triangle or a monochromatic copy of $G$. It turns out that $gr_k(K_3, G)$ behaves more nicely than the classical Ramsey number $r_k(G)$. However, finding exact values of $gr_k (K_3, G)$ is far from trivial. In this paper, we prove that $gr_k(K_3, C_9)= 4\cdot 2^k+1$ for all $k\ge1$. This new result provides partial evidence for the first open case of the Triple Odd Cycle Conjecture of Bondy and Erdős from 1973. Our technique relies heavily on the structural result of Gallai on edge-colorings of complete graphs without rainbow triangles. We believe the method we developed can be used to determine the exact values of $gr_k(K_3, C_n)$ for odd integers $n\ge11$.

Planar anti-Ramsey numbers for paths and cycles
Published • View PublicationBIB
Motivated by anti-Ramsey numbers introduced by Erdős, Simonovits and Sós in 1975, we study the anti-Ramsey problem when host graphs are plane triangulations. Analogous to anti-Ramsey numbers and Turán numbers, planar anti-Ramsey numbers are closely related to planar Turán numbers, where the planar Turán number of $H$ is the maximum number of edges of a planar graph on $n$ vertices without containing $H$ as a subgraph. The study of $ar_{_\mathcal{P}}(n, H)$ (under the name of rainbow numbers) was initiated by Horňák, Jendrol$'$, Schiermeyer and Soták [J Graph Theory 78 (2015) 248--257]. In this paper we study planar anti-Ramsey numbers for paths and cycles. We first establish lower bounds for $ar_{_\mathcal{P}}(n, P_k)$ when $n\ge k\ge8$. We then improve the existing lower bound for $ar_{_\mathcal{P}}(n, C_k)$ when $k\geq 5$ and $n\geq k^2-k$. Finally, using the main ideas in the above-mentioned paper, we obtain upper bounds for $ar_{_\mathcal{P}}(n, C_6)$ when $n\ge8$ and $ar_{_\mathcal{P}}(n, C_7)$ when $n\geq 13$, respectively.

Star 5-edge-colorings of subcubic multigraphs
Published in Discrete Mathematics, 341 (2018) 950--956 • View PublicationBIB
The star chromatic index of a multigraph $G$, denoted $χ'_{s}(G)$, is the minimum number of colors needed to properly color the edges of $G$ such that no path or cycle of length four is bi-colored. A multigraph $G$ is star $k$-edge-colorable if $χ'_{s}(G)\le k$. Dvořák, Mohar and Šámal [Star chromatic index, J Graph Theory 72 (2013), 313--326] proved that every subcubic multigraph is star $7$-edge-colorable, and conjectured that every subcubic multigraph should be star $6$-edge-colorable. Kerdjoudj, Kostochka and Raspaud considered the list version of this problem for simple graphs and proved that every subcubic graph with maximum average degree less than $7/3$ is star list-$5$-edge-colorable. It is known that a graph with maximum average degree $14/5$ is not necessarily star $5$-edge-colorable. In this paper, we prove that every subcubic multigraph with maximum average degree less than $12/5$ is star $5$-edge-colorable.
Antimagic orientations of even regular graphs

A labeling of a digraph $D$ with $m$ arcs is a bijection from the set of arcs of $D$ to $\{1, \ldots, m\}$. A labeling of $D$ is antimagic if no two vertices in $D$ have the same vertex-sum, where the vertex-sum of a vertex $u\in V(D)$ for a labeling is the sum of labels of all arcs entering $u$ minus the sum of labels of all arcs leaving $u$. Motivated by the conjecture of Hartsfield and Ringel from 1990 on antimagic labelings of graphs, Hefetz, Mütze, and Schwartz [On antimagic directed graphs, J Graph Theory 64 (2010) 219--232] initiated the study of antimagic labelings of digraphs, and conjectured that every connected graph admits an antimagic orientation, where an orientation $D$ of a graph $G$ is antimagic if $D$ has an antimagic labeling. It remained unknown whether every disjoint union of cycles admits an antimagic orientation. In this paper, we first answer this question in the positive by proving that every $2$-regular graph has an antimagic orientation. We then show that for any integer $d\ge2$, every connected, $2d$-regular graph has an antimagic orientation. Our technique is new.
