A generalization of Ramsey theory for stars and one matching
A recent question in generalized Ramsey theory is that for fixed positive integers $s\leq t$, at least how many vertices can be covered by the vertices of no more than $s$ monochromatic members of the family $\cal F$ in every edge coloring of $K_n$ with $t$ colors. This is related to {$d$-chromatic Ramsey numbers} introduced by Chung and Liu. In this paper, we first compute these numbers for stars generalizing the well-known result of Burr and Roberts. Then we extend a result of Cockayne and Lorimer to compute $d$-chromatic Ramsey numbers for stars and one matching.
Multiplied configurations characterized by their closed substructures
We propose some new method of constructing configurations, which consists in consecutive inscribing copies of one underlying configuration. A uniform characterization of the obtained class and the one introduced in our paper untitled "Multiplied configurations, series induced by correlations", which makes use of some covering by family of closed substructures, is given.

We extend the concept of the law of a finite graph to graphings, which are, in general, infinite graphs whose vertices are equipped with the structure of a probability space. By doing this, we obtain a vast array of new unimodular measures. Furthermore, we work out in full detail a proof of a known result, which states that weak limits preserve unimodularity.

A plane cubic curve, defined over a field with valuation, is in honeycomb form if its tropicalization exhibits the standard hexagonal cycle. We explicitly compute such representations from a given j-invariant with negative valuation, we give an analytic characterization of elliptic curves in honeycomb form, and we offer a detailed analysis of the tropical group law on such a curve.

In this work, we expose four bijections each allowing to increase (or decrease) one parameter in either uniform random forests with a fixed number of edges and trees, or quadrangulations with a boundary having a fixed number of faces and a fixed boundary length. In particular, this gives a way to sample a uniform quadrangulation with n + 1 faces from a uniform quadrangulation with n faces or a uniform forest with n+1 edges and p trees from a uniform forest with n edges and p trees.

If $S$ is a cofinite set of positive integers, an "$S$-restricted composition of $n$" is a sequence of elements of $S$, denoted $\vecλ=(λ_1,λ_2,...)$, whose sum is $n$. For uniform random $S$-restricted compositions, the random variable ${\bf B}(\vecλ)=\prod_i λ_i$ is asymptotically lognormal. The proof is based upon a combinatorial technique for decomposing a composition into a sequence of smaller compositions.

Let $G$ be a finite abelian group with exponent $n$, and let $r$ be a positive integer. Let $A$ be a $k\times m$ matrix with integer entries. We show that if $A$ satisfies some natural conditions and $|G|$ is large enough then, for each $r$--coloring of $G\setminus \{0\}$, there is $δ$ depending only on $r,n$ and $m$ such that the homogeneous linear system $Ax=0$ has at least $δ|G|^{m-k}$ monochromatic solutions. Density versions of this counting result are also addressed.
A General Class of Collatz Sequence and Ruin Problem
In this paper we show the probabilistic convergence of the original Collatz (3n + 1) (or Hotpo) sequence to unity. A generalized form of the Collatz sequence (GCS) is proposed subsequently. Unlike Hotpo, an instance of a GCS can converge to integers other than unity. A GCS can be generated using the concept of an abstract machine performing arithmetic operations on different numerical bases. Original Collatz sequence is then proved to be a special case of GCS on base 2. The stopping time of GCS sequences is shown to possess remarkable statistical behavior. We conjecture that the Collatz convergence elicits existence of attractor points in digital chaos generated by arithmetic operations on numbers. We also model Collatz convergence as a classical ruin problem on the digits of a number in a base in which the abstract machine is computing and establish its statistical behavior. Finally an average bound on the stopping time of the sequence is established that grows linearly with the number of digits.
Cycles are strongly Ramsey-unsaturated

We call a graph H Ramsey-unsaturated if there is an edge in the complement of H such that the Ramsey number r(H) of H does not change upon adding it to H. This notion was introduced by Balister, Lehel and Schelp who also proved that cycles (except for $C_4$) are Ramsey-unsaturated, and conjectured that, moreover, one may add any chord without changing the Ramsey number of the cycle $C_n$, unless n is even and adding the chord creates an odd cycle.
We prove this conjecture for large cycles by showing a stronger statement: If a graph H is obtained by adding a linear number of chords to a cycle $C_n$, then $r(H)=r(C_n)$, as long as the maximum degree of H is bounded, H is either bipartite (for even n) or almost bipartite (for odd n), and n is large.
This motivates us to call cycles strongly Ramsey-unsaturated. Our proof uses the regularity method.
On higher order Fourier analysis
We develop a theory of higher order structures in compact abelian groups. In the frame of this theory we prove general inverse theorems and regularity lemmas for Gowers's uniformity norms. We put forward an algebraic interpretation of the notion "higher order Fourier analysis" in terms of continuous morphisms between structures called compact $k$-step nilspaces. As a byproduct of our results we obtain a new type of limit theory for functions on abelian groups in the spirit of the so-called graph limit theory. Our proofs are based on an exact (non-approximative) version of higher order Fourier analysis which appears on ultra product groups.
From Quasirandom graphs to Graph Limits and Graphlets

We generalize the notion of quasirandom which concerns a class of equivalent properties that random graphs satisfy. We show that the convergence of a graph sequence under the spectral distance is equivalent to the convergence using the (normalized) cut distance. The resulting graph limit is called graphlets. We then consider several families of graphlets and, in particular, we characterize graphlets with low ranks for both dense and sparse graphs.
Cohen--Macaulaynees for symbolic power ideals of edge ideals

Let $S = K[x_1,..., x_n]$ be a polynomial ring over a field $K$. Let $I(G) \subseteq S$ denote the edge ideal of a graph $G$. We show that the $\ell$th symbolic power $I(G)^{(\ell)}$ is a Cohen-Macaulay ideal (i.e., $S/I(G)^{(\ell)}$ is Cohen-Macaulay) for some integer $\ell \ge 3$ if and only if $G$ is a disjoint union of finitely many complete graphs. When this is the case, all the symbolic powers $I(G)^{(\ell)}$ are Cohen-Macaulay ideals. Similarly, we characterize graphs $G$ for which $S/I(G)^{(\ell)}$ has (FLC).
As an application, we show that an edge ideal $I(G)$ is complete intersection provided that $S/I(G)^{\ell}$ is Cohen-Macaulay for some integer $\ell \ge 3$. This strengthens the main theorem in [Effective Cowsik-Nori theorem for edge ideals by M.Crupi, G.Rinaldo, N.Terai, and K.Yoshida, Comm. Alg. 38 (2010), 3347-3357].

In this paper, we study several properties of the second power $I_Δ^2$ of a Stanley-Reisner ideal $I_Δ$ of any dimension. As the main result, we prove that $S/I_Δ$ is Gorenstein whenever $S/I_Δ^2$ is Cohen-Macaulay over any field $K$. Moreover, we give a criterion for the second symbolic power of $I_Δ$ to satisfy $(S_2)$ and to coincide with the ordinary power, respectively. Finally, we provide new examples of Stanley-Reisner ideals whose second powers are Cohen-Macaulay.
On snarks that are far from being 3-edge colorable
In this note we construct two infinite snark families which have high oddness and low circumference compared to the number of vertices. Using this construction, we also give a counterexample to a suggested strengthening of Fulkerson's conjecture by showing that the Petersen graph is not the only cyclically 4-edge connected cubic graph which require at least five perfect matchings to cover its edges. Furthermore the counterexample presented has the interesting property that no 2-factor can be part of a cycle double cover.

Projective symplectic geometry on regular subspaces; Grassmann spaces over symplectic copolar spaces
We construct Grassmann spaces associated with the incidence geometry of regular and tangential subspaces of a symplectic copolar space, show that the underlying metric projective space can be recovered in terms of the corresponding adjacencies on so distinguished family of k-subspaces (geometrical dimension of the space being not 2k+1), and thus we prove that bijections which preserve the adjacency are determined by automorphisms of the underlying space.

We derive asymptotic formulas for central extended binomial coefficients, which are generalizations of binomial coefficients. To do so, we relate the exact distribution of the sum of independent discrete uniform random variables to the asymptotic distribution, obtained from the Central Limit Theorem and a local limit variant.

We prove that every sufficiently big 6-connected graph of bounded tree-width either has a K_6 minor, or has a vertex whose deletion makes the graph planar. This is a step toward proving that the same conclusion holds for all sufficiently big 6-connected graphs. Jorgensen conjectured that it holds for all 6-connected graphs.
