Ordered Yao graphs: maximum degree, edge numbers, and clique numbers
For a positive integer $k$ and an ordered set of $n$ points in the plane, define its k-sector ordered Yao graphs as follows. Divide the plane around each point into $k$ equal sectors and draw an edge from each point to its closest predecessor in each of the $k$ sectors. We analyze several natural parameters of these graphs. Our main results are as follows:
I) Let $d_k(n)$ be the maximum integer so that for every $n$-element point set in the plane, there exists an order such that the corresponding $k$-sector ordered Yao graph has maximum degree at least $d_k(n)$. We show that $d_k(n)=n-1$ if $k=4$ or $k \ge 6$, and provide some estimates for the remaining values of $k$. Namely, we show that $d_1(n) = Θ( \log_2n )$; $\frac{1}{2}(n-1) \le d_3(n) \le 5\left\lceil\frac{n}{6}\right\rceil-1$; $\frac{2}{3}(n-1) \le d_5(n) \le n-1$;
II) Let $e_k(n)$ be the minimum integer so that for every $n$-element point set in the plane, there exists an order such that the corresponding $k$-sector ordered Yao graph has at most $e_k(n)$ edges. Then $e_k(n)=\left\lceil\frac{k}{2}\right\rceil\cdot n-o(n)$.
III) Let $w_k$ be the minimum integer so that for every point set in the plane, there exists an order such that the corresponding $k$-sector ordered Yao graph has clique number at most $w_k$. Then $\lceil\frac{k}{2}\rceil \le w_k\le \lceil\frac{k}{2}\rceil+1$.
All the orders mentioned above can be constructed effectively.
Free Inhomogeneous Wreath Product of Quantum Groups
We introduce the free inhomogeneous wreath product of compact matrix quantum groups, which generalizes the free wreath product (Bichon 2004). We use this to present a general technique to determine quantum automorphism groups of connected graphs in terms of their maximal biconnected subgraphs, provided that we have sufficient information about their quantum automorphism groups. We show that this requirement is met for forests, outerplanar graphs, and block graphs leading to algorithms to compute the quantum automorphism groups of these graphs.

In accordance with P. Vogel, a set of algebra structures in Chern-Simons theory can be made universal, independent of a particular family of simple Lie algebras. In particular, this means that various quantities in the adjoint representations of these simple Lie algebras such as dimensions and quantum dimensions, Racah coefficients, etc. are simple rational functions of two parameters on Vogel's plane, giving three lines associated with $sl$, $so/sp$ and exceptional algebras correspondingly. By analyzing the partition function of refined of Chern-Simons theory, it was suggested earlier that the refinement may preserve the universality for simply laced algebras. Here we support this conjecture by analysing the Macdonald dimensions, i.e. values of Macdonald polynomials at $q^ρ$, where $ρ$ is the Weyl vector: there is a universality formula that describes these dimensions for the simply laced algebras as a function on the Vogel's plane.
Limiting spectral laws for sparse random circulant matrices
Fix a positive integer $d$ and let $(G_n)_{n\geq1}$ be a sequence of finite abelian groups with orders tending to infinity. For each $n \geq 1$, let $C_n$ be a uniformly random $G_n$-circulant matrix with entries in $\{0,1\}$ and exactly $d$ ones in each row/column. We show that the empirical spectral distribution of $C_n$ converges weakly in expectation to a probability measure $μ$ on $\mathbb{C}$ if and only if the distribution of the order of a uniform random element of $G_n$ converges weakly to a probability measure $ρ$ on $\mathbb{N}^*$, the one-point compactification of the natural numbers. Furthermore, we show that convergence in expectation can be strengthened to convergence in probability if and only if $ρ$ is a Dirac mass $δ_m$. In this case, $μ$ is the $d$-fold convolution of the uniform distribution on the $m$-th roots of unity if $m\in\mathbb{N}$ or the unit circle if $m = \infty$. We also establish that, under further natural assumptions, the determinant of $C_n$ is $\pm\exp((c_{m,d}+o(1))|G_n|)$ with high probability, where $c_{m,d}$ is a constant depending only on $m$ and $d$.
On minimal shapes and isoperimetric constants in hyperbolic lattices
We fully characterize the set of finite shapes with minimal perimeter on hyperbolic lattices given by regular tilings of the hyperbolic plane whose tiles are regular $p$-gons meeting at vertices of degree $q$, with $1/p+1/q<\frac{1}{2}$. In particular, we prove that the ratio between the perimeter and the area (i.e., the number of vertices) of this set of minimal shapes converges to the isoperimetric constant computed in Häggström-Jonasson-Lyons. In fact, our balls which are constructed via layers and not combinatorial balls, will realize the isoperimetric constant for any fixed number of vertices.
The Automorphism Group of the Finitary Power Monoid of the Integers under Addition
Endowed with the binary operation of set addition carried over from the integers, the family $\mathcal P_{\mathrm{fin}}(\mathbb Z) $ of all non-empty finite subsets of $\mathbb Z$ forms a monoid whose neutral element is the singleton $\{0\}$.
Building upon recent work by Tringali and Yan, we determine the automorphisms of $\mathcal P_{\mathrm{fin}}(\mathbb Z)$. In particular, we find that the automorphism group of $\mathcal P_{\mathrm{fin}}(\mathbb Z)$ is isomorphic to the direct product of a cyclic group of order two by the infinite dihedral group.
Total positivity of Hadamard product of dual Jacobi--Trudi matrices
In 1992, Wagner proved that the Hadamard product of two totally positive lower triangular Toeplitz matrices is totally positive. In this work, we strengthen this result by establishing total monomial positivity for the Hadamard product of Jacobi--Trudi matrices. In particular, we resolve a conjecture of Sokal concerning the Hadamard square of Jacobi--Trudi matrices. Moreover, we provide a manifestly positive Schur expansion for the Hadamard square of Jacobi--Trudi matrices indexed by ribbons. In addition, we construct a corresponding representation, offering a representation-theoretic proof of the Schur positivity.
Discrepancy of Arithmetic Progressions in Boxes and Convex Bodies
The combinatorial discrepancy of arithmetic progressions inside $[N] := \{1, \ldots, N\}$ is the smallest integer $D$ for which $[N]$ can be colored with two colors so that any arithmetic progression in $[N]$ contains at most $D$ more elements from one color class than the other. Bounding the discrepancy of such set systems is a classical problem in discrepancy theory. More recently, this problem was generalized to arithmetic progressions in grids like $[N]^d$ (Valk{ó}) and $[N_1]\times \ldots \times [N_d]$ (Fox, Xu, and Zhou). In the latter setting, Fox, Xu, and Zhou gave upper and lower bounds on the discrepancy that match within a $\frac{\log |Ω|}{\log \log |Ω|}$ factor, where $Ω:= [N_1]\times \ldots \times [N_d]$ is the ground set. In this work, we use the connection between factorization norms and discrepancy to improve their upper bound to be within a $\sqrt{\log|Ω|}$ factor from the lower bound. We also generalize Fox, Xu, and Zhou's lower bound, and our upper bounds to arithmetic progressions in arbitrary convex bodies.
Fractional balanced chromatic number of signed subcubic graphs
A signed graph is a pair $(G,σ)$, where $G$ is a graph and $σ: E(G)\rightarrow \{-, +\}$, called signature, is an assignment of signs to the edges. Given a signed graph $(G,σ)$ with no negative loops, a balanced $(p,q)$-coloring of $(G,σ)$ is an assignment $f$ of $q$ colors to each vertex from a pool of $p$ colors such that each color class induces a balanced subgraph, i.e., no negative cycles. Let $(K_4,-)$ be the signed graph on $K_4$ with all edges being negative. In this work, we show that every signed (simple) subcubic graph admits a balanced $(5,3)$-coloring except for $(K_4,-)$ and signed graphs switching equivalent to it. For this particular signed graph the best balanced colorings are $(2p,p)$-colorings.
Equitable coloring of graphs beyond planarity
An equitable coloring of a graph is a proper coloring where the sizes of any two different color classes do not differ by more than one. A graph is IC-planar if it can be drawn in the plane so that no two crossed edges have a common endpoint, and is NIC-planar graphs if it can be embedded in the plane in such a way that no two pairs of crossed edges share two endpoints. Zhang proved that every IC-planar graph with maximum degree $Δ\geq 12$ and every NIC-planar graph with maximum degree $Δ\geq 13$ have equitable $Δ$-colorings. In this paper, we reduce the threshold from 12 to 10 for IC-planar graphs and from 13 to 11 for NIC-planar graphs.
Burning some myths on privacy properties of social networks against active attacks
This work focuses on showing some arguments addressed to dismantle the extended idea about that social networks completely lacks of privacy properties. We consider the so-called active attacks to the privacy of social networks and the counterpart $(k,\ell)$-anonymity measure, which is used to quantify the privacy satisfied by a social network against active attacks. To this end, we make use of the graph theoretical concept of $k$-metric antidimensional graphs for which the case $k=1$ represents those graphs achieving the worst scenario in privacy whilst considering the $(k,\ell)$-anonymity measure.
As a product of our investigation, we present a large number of computational results stating that social networks might not be as insecure as one often thinks. In particular, we develop a large number of experiments on random graphs which show that the number of $1$-metric antidimensional graphs is indeed ridiculously small with respect to the total number of graphs that can be considered. Moreover, we search on several real networks in order to check if they are $1$-metric antidimensional, and obtain that none of them are such. Along the way, we show some theoretical studies on the mathematical properties of the $k$-metric antidimensional graphs for any suitable $k\ge 1$. In addition, we also describe some operations on graphs that are $1$-metric antidimensional so that they get embedded into another larger graphs that are not such, in order to obscure their privacy properties against active attacks.
Counting degree-constrained orientations
We study the enumeration of graph orientations under local degree constraints. Given a finite graph $G = (V, E)$ and a family of admissible sets $\{\mathsf P_v \subseteq \mathbb{Z} : v \in V\}$, let $\mathcal N (G; \prod_{v \in V} \mathsf P_v)$ denote the number of orientations in which the out-degree of each vertex $v$ lies in $P_v$. We prove a general duality formula expressing $\mathcal N(G; \prod_{v \in V} \mathsf P_v)$ as a signed sum over edge subsets, involving products of coefficient sums associated with $\{\mathsf P_v\}_{v \in V}$, from a family of polynomials. Our approach employs gauge transformations, a technique rooted in statistical physics and holographic algorithms. We also present a probabilistic derivation of the same identity, interpreting the orientation-generating polynomial as the expectation of a random polynomial product. As applications, we obtain explicit formulas for the number of even orientations and for mixed Eulerian-even orientations on general graphs. Our formula generalizes a result of Borbényi and Csikvári on Eulerian orientations of graphs.
Hexagonal and k-hexagonal graph's normalized Laplacian spectrum and applications
Substituting each edge of a simple connected graph $G$ by a path of length 1 and $k$ paths of length 5 generates the $k$-hexagonal graph $H^k(G)$. Iterative graph $H^k_n(G)$ is produced when the preceding constructions are repeated $n$ times. According to the graph structure, we obtain a set of linear equations, and derive the entirely normalized Laplacian spectrum of $H^k_n(G)$ when $k = 1$ and $k \geqslant 2$ respectively by analyzing the structure of the solutions of these linear equations. We find significant formulas to calculate the Kemeny's constant, multiplicative degree-Kirchhoff index and number of spanning trees of $H^k_n(G)$ as applications.
A note on distance-hereditary graphs whose complement is also distance-hereditary
Distance-hereditary graphs are known to be the graphs that are totally decomposable for the split decomposition. We characterise distance-hereditary graphs whose complement is also distance-hereditary by their split decomposition and by their modular decomposition.
Primary decomposition theorem and generalized spectral characterization of graphs
Suppose $G$ is a controllable graph of order $n$ with adjacency matrix $A$. Let $W=[e,Ae,\ldots,A^{n-1}e]$ ($e$ is the all-one vector) and $Δ=\prod_{i>j}(α_i-α_j)^2$ ($α_i$'s are eigenvalues of $A$) be the walk matrix and the discriminant of $G$, respectively. Wang and Yu \cite{wangyu2016} showed that if
$$θ(G):=\gcd\{2^{-\lfloor\frac{n}{2}\rfloor}\det W,Δ\} $$
is odd and squarefree, then $G$ is determined by its generalized spectrum (DGS). Using the primary decomposition theorem, we obtain a new criterion for a graph $G$ to be DGS without the squarefreeness assumption on $θ(G)$. Examples are further given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed criterion, compared with the two existing methods to deal with the difficulty of non-squarefreeness.
Note on the sumset of squares
It is proved that for any non-empty finite subset $Q$ of the square numbers, $
|Q+Q|\geq C'|Q|(\log |Q|)^{1/3+o(1)} $.
This result essentially is proved -- with the same tools -- by Mei-Chu Chang. See in J. Funct. Anal. 207 (2004), no 2, 444-460.

Tree-Line graphs and their quantum walks
For a simple graph $Γ$, a (bipartite)tree-line graph and a tree-graph of $Γ$ can be defined. With a (bipartite)tree-line graph constructed by the function $(b)\ell$, we study the continuous quantum walk on $(b)\ell ^n Γ$. An equitable partition of a bipartite tree-line graph is obtained by its corresponding derived tree graph. This paper also examines quantum walks on derived graphs, whose vertices represent their basis state.
The $h$-vectors of toric ideals of odd cycle compositions revisited
Let $G$ be a graph consisting of $s$ odd cycles that all share a common vertex. Bhaskara, Higashitani, and Shibu Deepthi recently computed the $h$-polynomial for the quotient ring $R/I_G$, where $I_G$ is the toric ideal of $G$, in terms of the number and sizes of odd cycles in the graph. The purpose of this note is to prove the stronger result that these toric ideals are geometrically vertex decomposable, which allows us to deduce the result of Bhaskara, Higashitani, and Shibu Deepthi about the $h$-polyhomial as a corollary.
A lattice point counting approach for the study of the number of self-avoiding walks on $\mathbb{Z}^{d}$
We reduce the problem of counting self-avoiding walks in the square lattice to a problem of counting the number of integral points in multidimensional domains. We obtain an asymptotic estimate of the number of self-avoiding walks of length $n$ in the square lattice. This new formalism gives a natural and unified setting in order to study the properties of the number of self-avoiding walks in the lattice $\mathbb{Z}^{d}$ of any dimension $d\geq 2$.
Global patterns in signed permutations
Global permutation patterns have recently been shown to characterize important properties of a Coxeter group. Here we study global patterns in the context of signed permutations, with both characterizing and enumerative results. Surprisingly, many properties of signed permutations may be characterized by avoidance of the same set of patterns as the corresponding properties in the symmetric group. We also extend previous enumerative work of Egge, and our work has connections to the Garfinkle--Barbasch--Vogan correspondence, the Erdős--Szekeres theorem, and well-known integer sequences.
