Cylindric Schur functions
We generalize several classical results about Schur functions to the family of cylindric Schur functions. First, we give a combinatorial proof of a Murnaghan--Nakayama formula for expanding cylindric Schur functions in the power-sum basis. We also explore some cases where this formula is cancellation-free. The second result is polynomiality of Kostka coefficients associated with stretched row-flagged skew Schur functions. This implies polynomiality of stretched cylindric Kostka coefficients. This generalizes a result by E. Rassart from 2004. Finally, we also show the saturation property for the row-flagged skew Kostka coefficients which also implies the saturation property for cylindric Schur functions.
Promotion and cyclic sieving on families of SSYT
Published in Ark. Mat., 59 (2021), 247-274 • View PublicationBIB
We examine a few families of semistandard Young tableaux, for which we observe the cyclic sieving phenomenon under promotion. The first family we consider consists of stretched hook shapes, where we use the cocharge generating polynomial as CSP-polynomial. The second family we consider consists of skew shapes, consisting of rectangles. Again, the charge generating polynomial together with promotion exhibits the cyclic sieving phenomenon. This generalizes earlier result by B. Rhoades and later B. Fontaine and J. Kamnitzer. Finally, we consider certain skew ribbons, where promotion behaves in a predictable manner. This result is stated in form of a bicyclic sieving phenomenon. One of the tools we use is a novel method for computing charge of skew semistandard tableaux, in the case when every number in the tableau occur with the same frequency.

Connecting descent and peak polynomials
Published in Hacettepe Journal of Mathematics and Statistics (2024), Vol: 53 Issue: 2, pp. 488 - 494 • View PublicationBIB
A permutation $σ=σ_1 σ_2 \cdots σ_n$ has a descent at $i$ if $σ_i>σ_{i+1}$. A descent $i$ is called a peak if $i>1$ and $i-1$ is not a descent. The size of the set of all permutations of $n$ with a given descent set is a polynomials in $n$, called the polynomial. Similarly, the size of the set of all permutations of $n$ with a given peak set, adjusted by a power of $2$ gives a polynomial in $n$, called the peak polynomial. In this work we give a unitary expansion of descent polynomials in terms of peak polynomials. Then we use this expansion to give a combinatorial interpretation of the coefficients of the peak polynomial in a binomial basis, thus giving a new proof of the peak polynomial positivity conjecture.

A local characterization of crystals for the quantum queer superalgebra
Published in Annals of Combinatorics (2020) Vol. 24, pp. 3-46 • View PublicationBIB
We define operators on semistandard shifted tableaux and use Stembridge's local characterization for regular graphs to prove they define a crystal structure. This gives a new proof that Schur $P$-polynomials are Schur positive. We define queer crystal operators (also called odd Kashiwara operators) to construct a connected queer crystal on semistandard shifted tableaux of a given shape. Using the tensor rule for queer crystals, this provides a new proof that products of Schur $P$-polynomials are Schur $P$-positive. Finally, to facilitate applications of queer crystals in the context of Schur $P$-positivity, we give local axioms for queer regular graphs, generalizing Stembridge's axioms, that partially characterize queer crystals.
