Towards a Theory of Domains for Harmonic Functions and its Symbolic Counterpart
Published • View PublicationBIB
In this paper, we begin by reviewing the calculus induced by the framework of [10]. In there, we extended Polylogarithm functions over a subalgebra of noncommutative rational power series, recognizable by finite state (multiplicity) automata over the alphabet X = {x 0 , x 1 }. The stability of this calculus under shuffle products relies on the nuclearity of the target space [31]. We also concentrated on algebraic and analytic aspects of this extension allowing to index polylogarithms, at non positive multi-indices, by rational series and also allowing to regularize divergent polyzetas, at non positive multi-indices [10]. As a continuation of works in [10] and in order to understand the bridge between the extension of this "polylogarithmic calculus" and the world of harmonic sums, we propose a local theory, adapted to a full calculus on indices of Harmonic Sums based on the Taylor expansions, around zero, of polylogarithms with index x 1 on the rightmost end. This theory is not only compatible with Stuffle products but also with the Analytic Model. In this respect, it provides a stable and fully algorithmic model for Harmonic calculus. Examples by computer are also provided 6 .

Three variations on the linear independence of grouplikes in a coalgebra
The grouplike elements of a coalgebra over a field are known to be linearly independent over said field. Here we prove three variants of this result. One is a generalization to coalgebras over a commutative ring (in which case the linear independence has to be replaced by a weaker statement). Another is a stronger statement that holds (un-der stronger assumptions) in a commutative bialgebra. The last variant is a linear independence result for characters (as opposed to grouplike elements) of a bialgebra.
A localized version of the basic triangle theorem
In this short note, we give a localized version of the basic triangle theorem, first published in 2011 (see [4]) in order to prove the independence of hyperlogarithms over various function fields. This version provides direct access to rings of scalars and avoids the recourse to fraction fields as that of meromorphic functions for instance.

On Drinfel'd associators
In 1986, in order to study the linear representations of the braid group $B\_n$coming from the monodromy of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov differential equations,Drinfel'd introduced a class of formal power series $Φ$on noncommutative variables. These formal series can be considered as a class of associators. We here give an interpretation of them as well as some new tools over Noncommutative Evolution Equations. Asymptotic phenomena are also discussed.

Harmonic sums and polylogarithms at non-positive multi-indices
Published • View PublicationBIB
Extending Eulerian polynomials and Faulhaber's formula 1, we study several combi-natorial aspects of harmonic sums and polylogarithms at non-positive multi-indices as well as their structure. Our techniques are based on the combinatorics of non-commutative generating series in the shuffle Hopf algebras giving a global process to renormalize the divergent polyzetas at non-positive multi-indices.

Möbius inversion formula for monoids with zero
Published in Semigroup Forum (2010) 1-15 • View PublicationBIB
The Möbius inversion formula, introduced during the 19th century in number theory, was generalized to a wide class of monoids called locally finite such as the free partially commutative, plactic and hypoplactic monoids for instance. In this contribution are developed and used some topological and algebraic notions for monoids with zero, similar to ordinary objects such as the (total) algebra of a monoid, the augmentation ideal or the star operation on proper series. The main concern is to extend the study of the Möbius function to some monoids with zero, i.e., with an absorbing element, in particular the so-called Rees quotients of locally finite monoids. Some relations between the Möbius functions of a monoid and its Rees quotient are also provided.

A formal calculus on the Riordan near algebra
Published in Advances and Applications in Discrete Mathematics 6, 1 (2010) 11-44 • Search Publication
The Riordan group is the semi-direct product of a multiplicative group of invertible series and a group, under substitution, of non units. The Riordan near algebra, as introduced in this paper, is the Cartesian product of the algebra of formal power series and its principal ideal of non units, equipped with a product that extends the multiplication of the Riordan group. The later is naturally embedded as a subgroup of units into the former. In this paper, we prove the existence of a formal calculus on the Riordan algebra. This formal calculus plays a role similar to those of holomorphic calculi in the Banach or Fréchet algebras setting, but without the constraint of a radius of convergence. Using this calculus, we define \emph{en passant} a notion of generalized powers in the Riordan group.
Extending the scalars of minimizations

In the classical theory of formal languages, finite state automata allow to recognize the words of a rational subset of $Σ^*$ where $Σ$ is a set of symbols (or the alphabet). Now, given a semiring $(\K,+,.)$, one can construct $\K$-subsets of $Σ^*$ in the sense of Eilenberg, that are alternatively called noncommutative formal power series for which a framework very similar to language theory has been constructed Particular noncommutative formal power series, which are called rational series, are the behaviour of a family of weighted automata (or $\K$-automata). In order to get an efficient encoding, it may be interesting to point out one of them with the smallest number of states. Minimization processes of $\K$-automata already exist for $\K$ being: {\bf a)} a field, {\bf b)} a noncommutative field, {\bf c)} a PID . When $\K$ is the bolean semiring, such a minimization process (with isomorphisms of minimal objects) is known within the category of deterministic automata. Minimal automata have been proved to be isomorphic in cases {\bf (a)} and {\bf (b)}. But the proof given for (b) is not constructive. In fact, it lays on the existence of a basis for a submodule of $\K^n$. Here we give an independent algorithm which reproves this fact and an example of a pair of nonisomorphic minimal automata. Moreover, we examine the possibility of extending {\bf (c)}. To this end, we provide an {\em Effective Minimization Process} (or {\em EMP}) which can be used for more general sets of coefficients.
Direct and dual laws for automata with multiplicities
Published in Theoretical Computer Science 267 (2001) 105-120 • Search Publication
We present here theoretical results coming from the implementation of the package called AMULT (automata with multiplicities in several noncommutative variables). We show that classical formulas are ``almost every time'' optimal, characterize the dual laws preserving rationality and also relators that are compatible with these laws.

Lazard's Elimination (in traces) is finite-state recognizable

We prove that the codes issued from the elimination of any subalphabet in a trace monoid are finite state recognizable. This implies in particular that the transitive factorizations of the trace monoids are recognizable by (boolean) finite-state automata.
Partition functions and graphs: A combinatorial approach
Although symmetry methods and analysis are a necessary ingredient in every physicist's toolkit, rather less use has been made of combinatorial methods. One exception is in the realm of Statistical Physics, where the calculation of the partition function, for example, is essentially a combinatorial problem. In this talk we shall show that one approach is via the normal ordering of the second quantized operators appearing in the partition function. This in turn leads to a combinatorial graphical description, giving essentially Feynman-type graphs associated with the theory. We illustrate this methodology by the explicit calculation of two model examples, the free boson gas and a superfluid boson model. We show how the calculation of partition functions can be facilitated by knowledge of the combinatorics of the boson normal ordering problem; this naturally gives rise to the Bell numbers of combinatorics. The associated graphical representation of these numbers gives a perturbation expansion in terms of a sequence of graphs analogous to zero - dimensional Feynman diagrams.
Normal Order: Combinatorial Graphs
Published • View PublicationBIB
A conventional context for supersymmetric problems arises when we consider systems containing both boson and fermion operators. In this note we consider the normal ordering problem for a string of such operators. In the general case, upon which we touch briefly, this problem leads to combinatorial numbers, the so-called Rook numbers. Since we assume that the two species, bosons and fermions, commute, we subsequently restrict ourselves to consideration of a single species, single-mode boson monomials. This problem leads to elegant generalisations of well-known combinatorial numbers, specifically Bell and Stirling numbers. We explicitly give the generating functions for some classes of these numbers. In this note we concentrate on the combinatorial graph approach, showing how some important classical results of graph theory lead to transparent representations of the combinatorial numbers associated with the boson normal ordering problem.
One-parameter groups and combinatorial physics

In this communication, we consider the normal ordering of sums of elements of the form (a*^r a a*^s), where a* and a are boson creation and annihilation operators. We discuss the integration of the associated one-parameter groups and their combinatorial by-products. In particular, we show how these groups can be realized as groups of substitutions with prefunctions.
