Generalised flip order on the faces of nestohedra
Classical shuffle products on permutations and binary planar rooted trees (i.e., on the vertices of permutohedra and associahedra) admit descriptions in terms of intervals in the weak Bruhat order and the Tamari order, respectively. Palacios and Ronco extended these products as well as their interval description to surjections and planar rooted trees (i.e. on all faces of permutohedra and associahedra). In this article, we present a broad generalisation of this phenomenon. We show that the shuffle product on faces of certain families of nestohedra admits an interval description with respect to the generalised flip order, a partial order defined on the faces of nestohedra through elementary splitting and fusion operations on the tree-like combinatorial objects encoding them. The generalised flip order extends the flip order of Barnard and McConville from vertices to all faces of nesthedra. We further compare it with the facial weak order of Dermenjian-Hohlweg-Pilaud and the generalised Tamari order of Ronco, and we provide its characterisation in terms of (generalised) inversions.

Equivariant Quantum Cohomology of Grassmannians via the Clifford algebra
We construct an explicit equivariant quantum Satake map for Grassmannians, which enables us to express their torus-equivariant quantum cohomology in terms of that of projective space. We then consider the exterior algebra of the latter, which admits a canonical identification with a Clifford algebra. We describe the resulting action in several complementary ways: first, from a geometric perspective via push-pull maps, and second, in terms of the shuffle product, which also arises in the simplest cohomological Hall algebra associated with the $A_1$-quiver. Exploiting the Clifford algebra structure, we derive new recurrence relations among equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants, yielding a new method for their computation in terms of Wick's Theorem. As an application, we provide combinatorial proofs of Graham positivity for both equivariant quantum Pieri rules, and in one case extend these results to quantum triple Schubert calculus.

Invariant theory for wreath products acting on superpolynomials
This paper considers a finite group $G$ acting linearly on the variables $V$ of a polynomial algebra, or an exterior algebra, or superpolynomial algebra with both commuting and anticommuting variables. In this setting, the Hilbert series for the $G$-invariant subalgebra turns out to determine the analogous Hilbert series for the wreath product $P[G]$ acting on $V^n$ for any permutation group $P$ inside the symmetric group $S_n$ on $n$ letters. This leads to a structural result: one can collate the direct sum for all $n$ of the $S_n[G]$-invariant subalgebras to form a graded ring via an external shuffle product, whose structure turns out to be a superpolynomial algebra generated by the $G$-invariants. A parallel statement holds for the direct sum of all $S_n[G]$-antiinvariants, which forms a graded ring via an external signed shuffle product, isomorphic to the superexterior algebra generated by the $G$-invariants.

Coalgebras, bialgebras and Rota-Baxter algebras from shuffles of rooted forests
We construct and study new generalisations to rooted trees and forests of some properties of shuffles of words. First, we build a coproduct on rooted trees which, together with their shuffle, endow them with bialgebra structure. We then caracterize the coproduct dual to the shuffle product of rooted forests and build a product on rooted trees to obtain the bialgebra dual to the shuffle bialgebra. We then characterize and enumerate primitive trees for the dual coproduct. Finally, using modified shuffles of rooted forests, we prove a property in the category of Rota-Baxter algebras.

When do Schubert polynomial products stabilize?
The "back-stabilization number" for products of Schubert polynomials is the distance the corresponding permutations must be shifted before the structure constants stabilize. We give an explicit formula for this number and thereby prove a conjecture of N. Li in a strengthened form. This leads to an additional result: a formula for the smallest $n$ such that a given Schubert product expands completely over $S_n$. Our method is to explore back-stable fundamental slide polynomials and their products combinatorially, in the context of their associated words. We use three main tools: (i) an algebra consisting of "colored words", with a modified shuffle product, and which contains the rings of back (quasi)symmetric functions as subquotients; (ii) the combinatorics of increasing suffixes of reduced words; and (iii) the lift of differential operators to the space of colored words.

Combinatorial interpretation of the Schlesinger-Zudilin stuffle product
We derive an explicit formula for the quasi--shuffle product satisfied by Schlesinger--Zudilin Multiple~$q$-Zeta Values, expressed in terms of partition data. To achieve this, we interpret Schlesinger--Zudilin Multiple~$q$-Zeta Values as generating series of distinguished marked partitions, which are partitions whose Young diagrams have certain rows and columns marked. Together with the description of duality using marked partitions in~\cite{Br2}, and Bachmanns conjecture~(\cite{BaTalk}) that all linear relations among Multiple~$q$-Zeta Values are implied by duality and the stuffle product, this paper completes the description of the conjectural structure of Multiple~$q$-Zeta Values using marked partitions.
Subadditivity of shifts, Eilenberg-Zilber shuffle products and homology of lattices
We show that the maximal shifts in the minimal free resolution of the quotients of a polynomial ring by a monomial ideal are subadditive as a function of the homological degree. This answers a question that has received some attention in recent years. To do so, we define and study a new model for the homology of posets, given by the so called synor complex. We also introduce an Eilenberg-Zilber type shuffle product on the simplicial chain complex of lattices. Combining these concepts we prove that the existence of a non-zero homology class for a lattice forces certain non-zero homology classes in lower intervals. This result then translates into properties of the minimal free resolution. In particular, it implies a generalization of the original question.

The enriched $q$-monomial basis of the quasisymmetric functions
We construct a new family $\left( η_α^{\left( q\right) }\right) _{α\in\operatorname*{Comp}}$ of quasisymmetric functions for each element $q$ of the base ring. We call them the "enriched $q$-monomial quasisymmetric functions". When $r:=q+1$ is invertible, this family is a basis of $\operatorname{QSym}$. It generalizes Hoffman's "essential quasi-symmetric functions" (obtained for $q=0$) and Hsiao's "monomial peak functions" (obtained for $q=1$), but also includes the monomial quasisymmetric functions as a limiting case. We describe these functions $η_α^{\left( q\right) }$ by several formulas, and compute their products, coproducts and antipodes. The product expansion is given by an exotic variant of the shuffle product which we call the "stufufuffle product" due to its ability to pick several consecutive entries from each composition. This "stufufuffle product" has previously appeared in recent work by Bouillot, Novelli and Thibon, generalizing the "block shuffle product" from the theory of multizeta values.

Generalized quasi-shuffle products
In this paper, we introduce the notion of generalized quasi-shuffle products and give a criterion for their associativity. These extend the quasi-shuffle products introduced by Hoffman, which are often used to describe the stuffle and shuffle product for multiple zeta values. For $q$-analogues of multiple zeta values, the description of an analogue for the shuffle product can often not be described with the classical notion of quasi-shuffle products. We show that our generalization gives a natural extension to also include these types of products and we prove a generalization of a duality between the $q$-shuffle product and the $q$-stuffle product.

Powersum Bases in Quasisymmetric Functions and Quasisymmetric Functions in Non-commuting Variables
Published • View PublicationBIB
We introduce a new $P$ basis for the Hopf algebra of quasisymmetric functions that refine the symmetric powersum basis. Unlike the quasisymmetric power sums of types 1 and 2, our basis is defined combinatorially: its expansion in quasisymmetric monomial functions is given by fillings of matrices. This basis has a shuffle product, a deconcatenate coproduct, and has a change of basis rule to the quasisymmetric fundamental basis by using tuples of ribbons. We lift our quasisymmetric powersum $P$ basis to the Hopf algebra of quasisymmetric functions in non-commuting variables by introducing fillings with disjoint sets. This new basis has a shifted shuffle product and a standard deconcatenate coproduct, and certain basis elements agree with the fundamental basis of the Malvenuto-Reutenauer Hopf algebra of permutations. Finally we discuss how to generalize these bases and their properties by using total orders on indices.
On the Self Shuffle Language
The shuffle product \(u\shuffle v\) of two words \(u\) and \(v\) is the set of all words which can be obtained by interleaving \(u\) and \(v\). Motivated by the paper \emph{The Shuffle Product: New Research Directions} by Restivo (2015) we investigate a special case of the shuffle product. In this work we consider the shuffle of a word with itself called the \emph{self shuffle} or \emph{shuffle square}, showing first that the self shuffle language and the shuffle of the language are in general different sets. We prove that the language of all words arising as a self shuffle of some word is context sensitive but not context free. Furthermore, we show that the self shuffle \(w \shuffle w\) uniquely determines \(w\).
Tridendriform algebras on hypergraph polytopes
Published • View PublicationBIB
We extend the works of Loday-Ronco and Burgunder-Ronco on the tridendriform decomposition of the shuffle product on the faces of associahedra and permutohedra, to other families of hypergraph polytopes (or nestohedra), including simplices, hypercubes and some new families. We also extend the shuffle product to take more than two arguments, and define accordingly a new algebraic structure, that we call polydendriform, from which the original tridendriform equations can be crisply synthesized.

Shuffle product formula of the Schur multiple zeta values of hook type
We discuss the shuffle product of the Schur multiple zeta values, which are the special values of Schur multiple zeta functions. We first define $2$-labeled Schur posets to generalize Yamamoto's integral expression of the multiple zeta values and consider the product of hook-type Schur multiple zeta values by using these posets. Then, for the derived terms, we introduce a modified Hurwitz-type Schur multiple zeta function of hook type, named an elementary factorial Schur multiple zeta function. Furthermore, we generalize $2$-labeled Schur posets to consider the shuffle product of the elementary factorial Schur multiple zeta values and obtain an explicit formula for their shuffle product.

Powersum Bases in Quasisymmetric Functions and Quasisymmetric Functions in Non-commuting Variables
We introduce new bases for the Hopf algebra of quasisymmetric functions that refine the symmetric powersum basis. These bases are expanded in terms of quasisymmetric monomial functions by using fillings of matrices. We define the analog of these bases in quasisymmetric functions of non-commuting variables. Our new bases have a (shifted) shuffle product and a deconcatenate coproduct. Finally, we describe a change of basis rule from the quasisymmetric powersum basis to the quasisymmetric fundamental basis.

Using a $q$-shuffle algebra to describe the basic module $V(Λ_0)$ for the quantized enveloping algebra $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$
Published • View PublicationBIB
We consider the quantized enveloping algebra $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$ and its basic module $V(Λ_0)$. This module is infinite-dimensional, irreducible, integrable, and highest-weight. We describe $V(Λ_0)$ using a $q$-shuffle algebra in the following way. Start with the free associative algebra $\mathbb V$ on two generators $x,y$. The standard basis for $\mathbb V$ consists of the words in $x,y$. In 1995 M. Rosso introduced an associative algebra structure on $\mathbb V$, called a $q$-shuffle algebra. For $u,v\in \lbrace x,y\rbrace$ their $q$-shuffle product is $u\star v = uv+q^{(u,v)}vu$, where $( u,v) =2$ (resp. $(u,v) =-2$) if $u=v$ (resp. $u\not=v$). Let $\mathbb U$ denote the subalgebra of the $q$-shuffle algebra $\mathbb V$ that is generated by $x, y$. Rosso showed that the algebra $\mathbb U$ is isomorphic to the positive part of $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$. In our first main result, we turn $\mathbb U$ into a $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$-module. Let $\bf U$ denote the $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$-submodule of $\mathbb U$ generated by the empty word. In our second main result, we show that the $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$-modules $\bf U$ and $V(Λ_0)$ are isomorphic. Let $\bf V$ denote the subspace of $\mathbb V$ spanned by the words that do not begin with $y$ or $xx$. In our third main result, we show that $\bf U = \mathbb U \cap {\bf V}$.
Towards a Theory of Domains for Harmonic Functions and its Symbolic Counterpart
Published • View PublicationBIB
In this paper, we begin by reviewing the calculus induced by the framework of [10]. In there, we extended Polylogarithm functions over a subalgebra of noncommutative rational power series, recognizable by finite state (multiplicity) automata over the alphabet X = {x 0 , x 1 }. The stability of this calculus under shuffle products relies on the nuclearity of the target space [31]. We also concentrated on algebraic and analytic aspects of this extension allowing to index polylogarithms, at non positive multi-indices, by rational series and also allowing to regularize divergent polyzetas, at non positive multi-indices [10]. As a continuation of works in [10] and in order to understand the bridge between the extension of this "polylogarithmic calculus" and the world of harmonic sums, we propose a local theory, adapted to a full calculus on indices of Harmonic Sums based on the Taylor expansions, around zero, of polylogarithms with index x 1 on the rightmost end. This theory is not only compatible with Stuffle products but also with the Analytic Model. In this respect, it provides a stable and fully algorithmic model for Harmonic calculus. Examples by computer are also provided 6 .

Weak stuffle algebras
Published • View PublicationBIB
Motivated by q-shuffle products determined by Singer from q-analogues of multiple zeta values, we build in this article a generalisation of the shuffle and stuffle products in terms of weak shuffle and stuffle products. Then, we characterise weak shuffle products and give as examples the case of an alphabet of cardinality two or three. We focus on a comparison between algebraic structures respected in the classical case and in the weak case. As in the classical case, each weak shuffle product can be equipped with a dendriform structure. However, they have another behaviour towards the quadri-algebra and the Hopf algebra structure. We give some relations satisfied by weak stuffle products.

Double shuffle relations for arborified zeta values
Published • View PublicationBIB
Arborified zeta values are defined as iterated series and integrals using the universal properties of rooted trees. This approach allows to study their convergence domain and to relate them to multizeta values. Generalisations to rooted trees of the stuffle and shuffle products are defined and studied. It is further shown that arborifed zeta values are algebra morphisms for these new products on trees.

A Counter Example to the Shuffle Compatiblity Conjecture
Published in The Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, Volume 29, Issue 3 (2022) P3.51 • View PublicationBIB
The shuffle product has a connection with several useful permutation statistics such as descent and peak, and corresponds to the multiplication operation in the corresponding descent and peak algebras. In their recent work, Gessel and Zhuang formalized the notion of shuffle-compatibility and studied various permutation statistics from this viewpoint. They further conjectured that any shuffle compatible permutation statistic is a descent statistic. In this note we construct a counter-example to this conjecture.

Algorithmic and algebraic aspects of unshuffling permutations
Published in Theoretical Computer Science, Volume 729, 12 June 2018, Pages 20-41 • View PublicationBIB
A permutation is said to be a square if it can be obtained by shuffling two order-isomorphic patterns. The definition is intended to be the natural counterpart to the ordinary shuffle of words and languages. In this paper, we tackle the problem of recognizing square permutations from both the point of view of algebra and algorithms. On the one hand, we present some algebraic and combinatorial properties of the shuffle product of permutations. We follow an unusual line consisting in defining the shuffle of permutations by means of an unshuffling operator, known as a coproduct. This strategy allows to obtain easy proofs for algebraic and combinatorial properties of our shuffle product. We besides exhibit a bijection between square $(213,231)$-avoiding permutations and square binary words. On the other hand, by using a pattern avoidance criterion on directed perfect matchings, we prove that recognizing square permutations is {\bf NP}-complete.
