General multi-Novikov algebras, multi-differential algebras and their free constructions
Motivated by the recent development of noncommutative Novikov algebras and multi-Novikov algebras from the study of regularity structures of stochastic PDEs, this paper gives a general approach to study various multi-Novikov algebras and multi-differential algebras, with close connection with Poisson algebras. The construction of S. Gelfand of Novikov algebras from differential commutative algebras is generalized to this context. Free noncommuting multi-Novikov algebras are constructed from typed decorated rooted trees and from noncommuting multi-differential polynomials with populated conditions.
Generalized Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebras on decorated rooted forests by weighted cocycles
The Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of rooted trees is an operated Hopf algebra whose coproduct satisfies the classical Hochschild 1-cocycle condition. In this paper, we extend the setting from rooted trees to the space $H_{\rm RT}(X,Ω)$ of $(X,Ω)$-rooted trees, in which internal vertices are decorated by a set $Ω$ and leafs are decorated by $X \cup Ω$. We introduce a new coalgebra structure on $H_{\rm RT}(X,Ω)$ whose coproduct satisfies a weighted Hochschild 1-cocycle condition involving multiple operators, thereby generalizing the classical condition. A combinatorial interpretation of this coproduct is also provided. We then endow $H_{\rm RT}(X,Ω)$ with a Hopf algebra structure. Finally, we define weighted $Ω$-cocycle Hopf algebras, characterized by a Hochschild 1-cocycle condition with weights, and show that $H_{\rm RT}(X,Ω)$ is the free object in the category of $Ω$-cocycle Hopf algebras.
Lowering operators on $K$-$k$-Schur functions and a lowering operator formula for closed $K$-$k$-Schur functions
This paper gives a systematic study of the lowering operators acting on the $K$-$k$-Schur functions, motivated by the pivotal role played by the operators in the definition and study of Katalan functions. A lowering operator formula for closed $K$-$k$-Schur functions is obtained. As an application, a combinatorial proof is provided to a conjecture on closed $k$-Schur Katalan functions, posed by Blasiak, Morse and Seelinger, and recently proved by Ikeda, Iwao and Naito by a different method.
Species of Rota-Baxter algebras by rooted trees, twisted bialgebras and Fock functors
As a fundamental and ubiquitous combinatorial notion, species has attracted sustained interest, generalizing from set-theoretical combinatorial to algebraic combinatorial and beyond. The Rota-Baxter algebra is one of the algebraic structures with broad applications from Renormalization of quantum field theory to integrable systems and multiple zeta values. Its interpretation in terms of monoidal categories has also recently appeared. This paper studies species of Rota-Baxter algebras, making use of the combinatorial construction of free Rota-Baxter algebras in terms of angularly decorated trees and forests. The notion of simple angularly decorated forests is introduced for this purpose and the resulting Rota-Baxter species is shown to be free. Furthermore, a twisted bialgebra structure, as the bialgebra for species, is established on this free Rota-Baxter species. Finally, through the Fock functor, another proof of the bialgebra structure on free Rota-Baxter algebras is obtained.
Integro-differential rings on species and derived structures
In the theory of species, differential as well as integral operators are known to arise in a natural way. In this paper, we shall prove that they precisely fit together in the algebraic framework of integro-differential rings, which are themselves an abstraction of classical calculus (incorporating its Fundamental Theorem). The results comprise (set) species as well as linear species. Localization of (set) species leads to the more general structure of modified integro-differential rings, previously employed in the algebraic treatment of Volterra integral equations. Furthermore, the ring homomorphism from species to power series via taking generating series is shown to be a (modified) integro-differential ring homomorphism. As an application, a topology and further algebraic operations are imported to virtual species from the general theory of integro-differential rings.
Multi-quasisymmetric functions with semigroup exponents, Hopf algebras and Rota-Baxter algebras
Many years ago, G.-C.~Rota discovered a close connection between symmetric functions and Rota-Baxter algebras, and proposed to study generalizations of symmetric functions in the framework of Rota-Baxter algebras. Guided by this proposal, quasisymmetric functions from weak composition (instead of just compositions) were obtained from free Rota-Baxter algebras on one generator. This paper aims to generalize this approach to free Rota-Baxter algebras on multiple generators in order to obtain further generalizations of quasisymmetric functions. For this purpose and also for its independent interest, the space $\mathrm{MQSym}$ of quasisymmetric functions on multiple sequences of variables is defined, generalizing quasisymmetric functions and diagonally quasisymmetric functions of Aval, Bergeron and Bergeron. Linear bases of such multi-quasisymmetric functions are given by monomial multi-quasisymmetric functions and fundamental multi-quasisymmetric functions, the latter recover the fundamental $G^m$-quasisymmetric functions of Aval and Chapoton. Next introduced is the even more general notion of multi-quasisymmetric functions $\mathrm{MQSym}^E$ with exponents in a semigroup $E$, which also generalizes the quasisymmetric functions with semigroup exponents in a recent work. Through this approach, a natural Hopf algebraic structure is obtained on $\mathrm{MQSym}^E$. Finally, in support of Rota's proposal, the free commutative unitary Rota-Baxter algebra on a finite set is shown to be isomorphic to a scalar extension of $\mathrm{MQSym}^E$, a fact which in turn equips the free Rota-Baxter algebra with a Hopf algebra structure.
Extended Rota-Baxter algebras, diagonally colored Delannoy paths and Hopf algebras
The Rota-Baxter operator and the modified Rota-Baxter operator on various algebras are both important in mathematics and mathematical physics. The former is originated from the integration-by-parts formula and probability with applications to the renormalization of quantum field theory and the classical Yang-Baxter equation. The latter originated from Hilbert transformations with applications to ergodic theory and the modified Yang-Baxter equation. Their merged form, called the extended Rota-Baxter operators, has also found interesting applications recently.
This paper presents a systematic study of the extended Rota-Baxter operator. We show that while extended Rota-Baxter operators have properties similar to Rota-Baxter operators; they provide a linear structure that unifies Rota-Baxter operators and modified Rota-Baxter operators. Examples of extended Rota-Baxter operators are also given, especially from polynomials and Laurent series due to their importance in ($q$-)integration and the renormalization in quantum field theory. We then construct free commutative extended Rota-Baxter operators by a generalization of the quasi-shuffle product. The multiplication of the initial object in the category of commutative extended Rota-Baxter operators allows a combinatorial interpretation in terms of a color-enrichment of Delannoy paths. Applying its universal property, we equip a free commutative extended Rota-Baxter operators with a coproduct which has a cocycle condition, yielding a bialgebraic structure. We then show that this bialgebra on a free extended Rota-Baxter operators possesses an increasing filtration and a connectedness property, culminating at a Hopf algebraic structure on a free commutative extended Rota-Baxter operator.

The notion of locality semigroups was recently introduced with motivation from locality in convex geometry and quantum field theory. We show that there is a natural correspondence between locality sets and quivers which leads to a concrete class of locality semigroups given by the paths of quivers. Further these path semigroups from paths are precisely the free objects in the category of locality semigroups with a rigid condition. This characterization gives a universal property of path algebras and at the same time a combinatorial realization of free rigid locality semigroups.

As an abstraction and generalization of the integral operator in analysis, integral operators (known as Rota-Baxter operators of weight zero) on associative algebras and Lie algebras have played an important role in mathematics and physics. This paper initiates the study of integral operators on lattices and the resulting Rota-Baxter lattices (of weight zero). We show that properties of lattices can be characterized in terms of their integral operators. We also display a large number of integral operators on any given lattice and classify the isomorphism classes of integral operators on some common classes of lattices. We further investigate structures on semirings derived from differential and integral operators on lattices.

By means of a new notion of subforests of an angularly decorated rooted forest, we give a combinatorial construction of a coproduct on the free Rota-Baxter algebra on angularly decorated rooted forests. We show that this coproduct equips the Rota-Baxter algebra with a bialgebra structure and further a Hopf algebra structure.
Compatible structures on unary binary nonsymmetric operads with quadratic and cubic relations
Various compatibility conditions among replicated copies of operations in a given algebraic structure have appeared in broad contexts in recent years. Taking an uniform approach, this paper gives an operadic study of compatibility conditions for nonsymmetric operads with unary and binary operations, and homogeneous quadratic and cubic relations. This generalizes the previous studies for binary quadratic operads. We consider three compatibility conditions, namely the linear compatibility, matching compatibility and total compatibility, with increasingly strict restraints among the replicated copies. The linear compatibility is in Koszul dual to the total compatibility, while the matching compatibility is self dual. Further, each compatibility can be expressed in terms of either one or both of the two Manin square products.
Renormalization of quasisymmetric functions
As a natural basis of the Hopf algebra of quasisymmetric functions, monomial quasisymmetric functions are formal power series defined from compositions. The same definition applies to left weak compositions, while leads to divergence for other weak compositions. We adapt the method of renormalization in quantum field theory, in the framework of Connes and Kreimer, to deal with such divergency. This approach defines monomial quasisymmetric functions for any weak composition as power series while extending the quasi-shuffle (stuffle) relation satisfied by the usual quasisymmetric functions. The algebra of renormalized quasisymmetric functions thus obtained turns out to be isomorphic to the quasi-shuffle algebra of weak compositions, giving the former a natural Hopf algebra structure and the latter a power series realization. This isomorphism also gives the free commutative Rota-Baxter algebra a power series realization, in support of a suggestion of Rota that Rota-Baxter algebra should provide a broad context for generalizations of symmetric functions.

Recent advances in stochastic PDEs, Hopf algebras of typed trees and integral equations have inspired the study of algebraic structures with replicating operations. To understand their algebraic and combinatorial nature, we first use rooted forests with multiple decoration sets to construct free Hopf algebras with multiple Hochschild 1-cocycle conditions. Applying the universal property of the underlying operated algebras and the method of Gröbner-Shirshov bases, we then construct free objects in the category of matching Rota-Baxter algebras which is a generalization of Rota-Baxter algebras to allow multiple Rota-Baxter operators. Finally the free matching Rota-Baxter algebras are equipped with a cocycle Hopf algebra structure.

This paper builds on two covering Hopf algebras of the Hopf algebra QSym of quasi-symmetric functions, with linear bases parameterized by compositions. One is the Malvenuto-Reutenauer Hopf algebra SSym of permutations, mapped onto QSym by taking descents of permutations. The other one is the recently introduced Hopf algebra RQSym of weak quasi-symmetric functions, mapped onto QSym by extracting compositions from weak compositions.
We extend these two surjective Hopf algebra homomorphisms into a commutative diagram by introducing a Hopf algebra HSym, linearly spanned by signed permutations from the hyperoctahedral groups, equipped with the shifted quasi-shuffle product and deconcatenation coproduct. Extracting a permutation from a signed permutation defines a Hopf algebra surjection form HSym to SSym and taking a suitable descent from a signed permutation defines a linear surjection from HSym to RQSym. The notion of signed $P$-partitions from signed permutations is introduced which, by taking generating functions, gives fundamental weak quasi-symmetric functions and sends the shifted quasi-shuffle product to the product of the corresponding generating functions. Together with the existing Hopf algebra surjections from SSym and RQSym to QSym, we obtain a commutative diagram of Hopf algebras revealing the close relationship among compositions, weak compositions, permutations and signed permutations.

The study of Reynolds algebras has its origin in the well-known work of O. Reynolds on fluid dynamics in 1895 and has since found broad applications. It also has close relationship with important linear operators such as algebra endomorphisms, derivations and Rota-Baxter operators. Many years ago G.~Birkhoff suggested an algebraic study of Reynolds operators, including the corresponding free algebras. We carry out such a study in this paper. We first provide examples and properties of Reynolds operators, including a multi-variant generalization of the Reynolds identity. We then construct the free Reynolds algebra on a set. For this purpose, we identify a set of bracketed words called Reynolds words which serves as the linear basis of the free Reynolds algebra. A combinatorial interpretation of Reynolds words is given in terms of rooted trees without super crowns. The closure of the Reynolds words under concatenation gives the algebra structure on the space spanned by Reynolds words. Then a linear operator is defined on this algebra such that the Reynolds identity and the desired universal property are satisfied.

We introduce the notion of a matching Rota-Baxter algebra motivated by the recent work on multiple pre-Lie algebras arising from the study of algebraic renormalization of regularity structures~[10,18]. This notion is also related to iterated integrals with multiple kernels and solutions of the associative polarized Yang-Baxter equation. Generalizing the natural connection of Rota-Baxter algebras with dendriform algebras to matching Rota-Baxter algebras , we obtain the notion of matching dendriform algebras. As in the classical case of one operation, matching Rota-Baxter algebras and matching dendriform algebras are related to matching pre-Lie algebras which coincide with the aforementioned multiple pre-Lie algebras. More general notions and results on matching tridendriform algebras and matching PostLie algebras are also obtained.

This paper introduces the braidings of dendriform algebras and tridendriform algebras. By studying free braided dendriform algebras, we obtain braidings of the Hopf algebras of Loday and Ronco of planar binary rooted trees. We also give a variation of the braiding of Foissy for the noncommutative Connes-Kreimer (a.k.a the Foissy-Holtkamp) Hopf algebra of planar rooted forests so that the well-known isomorphism between this Hopf algebra and the Loday-Ronco Hopf algebra is extended to the braided context. As free braided tridendriform algebras, we also give braided extension of the Hopf algebra of Loday and Ronco on planar rooted trees.
An algebraic formulation of the locality principle in renormalisation

We study the mathematical structure underlying the concept of locality which lies at the heart of classical and quantum field theory, and develop a machinery used to preserve locality during the renormalisation procedure. Viewing renormalisation in the framework of Connes and Kreimer as the algebraic Birkhoff factorisation of characters on a Hopf algebra with values in a Rota-Baxter algebra, we build locality variants of these algebraic structures, leading to a locality variant of the algebraic Birkhoff factorisation. This provides an algebraic formulation of the conservation of locality while renormalising.
As an application in the context of the Euler-Maclaurin formula on cones, we renormalise the exponential generating function which sums over the lattice points in convex cones. For a suitable multivariate regularisation, renormalisation from the algebraic Birkhoff factorisation amounts to composition by a projection onto holomorphic multivariate functions.

We introduce the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions with semigroup exponents generalizing the Hopf algebra QSym of quasi-symmetric functions. As a special case we obtain the Hopf algebra WCQSym of weak composition quasi-symmetric functions, which provides a framework for the study of a question proposed by G.-C.~Rota relating symmetric type functions and Rota-Baxter algebras. We provide the transformation formulas between the weak composition monomial and fundamental quasi-symmetric functions, which extends the corresponding results for quasi-symmetric functions. Moreover, we show that QSym is a Hopf subalgebra and a Hopf quotient algebra of WCQSym. Rota's question is addressed by identifying WCQsym with the free commutative unitary Rota-Baxter algebra of weight 1 on one generator, which also allows us to equip this algebra with a Hopf algebra structure.

The Hopf algebra and the Rota-Baxter algebra are the two algebraic structures underlying the algebraic approach of Connes and Kreimer to renormalization of perturbative quantum field theory. In particular the Hopf algebra of rooted trees serves as the "baby model" of Feynman graphs in their approach and can be characterized by certain universal properties involving a Hochschild 1-cocycle. Decorated rooted trees have also been applied to study Feynman graphs. We will continue the study of universal properties of various spaces of decorated rooted trees with such a 1-cocycle, leading to the concept of a cocycle Hopf algebra. We further apply the universal properties to equip a free Rota-Baxter algebra with the structure of a cocycle Hopf algebra or a cocycle bialgebra.
