Special Matchings, Brenti's Conjecture, and the Combinatorial Invariance Conjecture
In this work, we settle a problem that dates back to the early 2000s. We provide a complete characterization of special matchings of arbitrary Bruhat intervals in Coxeter groups of type $A$ and apply this result to prove a conjecture of Brenti from 2003 concerning the computation of Kazhdan-Lusztig $R$-polynomials via special matchings. This yields new evidence in support of the Combinatorial Invariance Conjecture.
Grapes and Alexander duality
In this paper, we prove that the property of being a grape (in any of its variants) is invariant under Alexander duality. The explicitly determined (simple-)homotopy type of a grape can be transferred to its Alexander dual via Combinatorial Alexander Duality in (co)homology. We also provide several applications.
Flip Combinatorial Invariance and Weyl groups
In this work, we investigate the approach via flipclasses to the Combinatorial Invariance Conjecture for Kazhdan--Lusztig polynomials of all Coxeter groups. We prove the combinatorial invariance of Kazhdan--Lusztig $\widetilde{R}$-polynomials of Weyl groups modulo $q^7$ and of Kazhdan--Lusztig $\widetilde{R}$-polynomials of type $A$ Weyl groups modulo $q^8$. As a consequence, the Combinatorial Invariance Conjecture holds for all intervals up to length 8 in Weyl groups and up to length 10 in type $A$ Weyl groups.
A note on Combinatorial Invariance of Kazhdan--Lusztig polynomials
We introduce the concepts of an amazing hypercube decomposition and a double shortcut for it, and use these new ideas to formulate a conjecture implying the Combinatorial Invariance Conjecture of the Kazhdan--Lusztig polynomials for the symmetric group. This conjecture has the advantage of being combinatorial in nature. The appendix by Grant T. Barkley and Christian Gaetz discusses the related notion of double hypercubes and proves an analogous conjecture for these in the case of co-elementary intervals.
Flipclasses and Combinatorial Invariance for Kazhdan--Lusztig polynomials
In this work, we investigate a novel approach to the Combinatorial Invariance Conjecture of Kazhdan--Lusztig polynomials for the symmetric group. Using the new concept of flipclasses, we introduce some combinatorial invariants of intervals in the symmetric group whose analysis leads us to a recipe to compute the coefficients of $q^h$ of the Kazhdan--Lusztig $\widetilde{R}$-polynomials, for $h\leq 6$. This recipe depends only on the isomorphism class (as a poset) of the interval indexing the polynomial and thus provides new evidence for the Combinatorial Invariance Conjecture.

In [Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra {224} (2020), no 12, 106449], V. Mazorchuk and R. Mrđen (with some help by A. Hultman) prove that, given a Weyl group, the intersection of a Bruhat interval with a parabolic coset has a unique maximal element and a unique minimal element. We show that such intersections are actually Bruhat intervals also in the case of an arbitrary Coxeter group.

We establish an explicit combinatorial/homological characterization of supports for linear degenerations of flag varieties. For such purpose, we introduce the concept of an excessive multisegment. It provides a new class of combinatorial objects counted by Motzkin numbers.

We tackle several problems related to a finite irreducible crystallographic root system $Φ$ in the real vector space $\mathbb E$. In particular, we study the combinatorial structure of the subsets of $Φ$ cut by affine subspaces of $\mathbb E$ and their projections. As byproducts, we obtain easy algebraic combinatorial proofs of refinements of Oshima's Lemma and of a result by Kostant, a partial result towards the resolution of a problem by Hopkins and Postnikov, and new enumerative results on root systems.

We show that a symmetry property that we call the up-down symmetry implies that the Kazhdan--Lusztig $R^x$-polynomials of a pircon $P$ are a $P$-kernel, and we show that this property holds in the classical cases. Then, we enhance and extend to this context a duality of Deodhar in parabolic Kazhdan--Lusztig theory.

The purpose of this work is to provide a common combinatorial framework for some of the analogues and generalizations of Kazhdan-Lusztig R-polynomials that have appeared since the introduction of these remarkable polynomials (e.g., parabolic Kazhdan-Lusztig R-polynomials, Kazhdan-Lusztig R-polynomials of zircons, and Kazhdan-Lusztig-Vogan polynomials for fixed point free involutions).
Weak generalized lifting property, Bruhat intervals and Coxeter matroids
We provide a weaker version of the generalized lifting property which holds in complete generality for all finite Coxeter groups, and we use it to show that every parabolic Bruhat interval of a finite Coxeter group is a Coxeter matroid. We also describe some combinatorial properties of the associated polytopes.

The aim of this work is to prove a conjecture related to the Combinatorial Invariance Conjecture of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials, in the parabolic setting, for lower intervals in every arbitrary Coxeter group. This result improves and generalizes, among other results, the main results of [Advances in Math. {202} (2006), 555-601], [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. {368} (2016), no. 7, 5247--5269].

We give a simple characterization of special matchings in lower Bruhat intervals (that is, intervals starting from the identity element) of a Coxeter group. As a byproduct, we obtain some results on the action of special matchings.

Special matchings are purely combinatorial objects associated with a partially ordered set, which have applications in Coxeter group theory. We provide an explicit characterization and a complete classification of all special matchings of any lower Bruhat interval. The results hold in any arbitrary Coxeter group and have also applications in the study of the corresponding parabolic Kazhdan--Lusztig polynomials.

Let $\mathcal P_Φ$ be the root polytope of a finite irreducible crystallographic root system $Φ$, i.e., the convex hull of all roots in $Φ$. The polar of $\mathcal P_Φ$, denoted $\mathcal P_Φ^*$, coincides with the union of the orbit of the fundamental alcove under the action of the Weyl group. In this paper, we establishes which polytopes $\mathcal P_Φ^*$ are zonotopes and which are not. The proof is constructive.

We prove that the combinatorial concept of a special matching can be used to compute the parabolic Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials of doubly laced Coxeter groups and of dihedral Coxeter groups. In particular, for this class of groups which includes all Weyl groups, our results generalize to the parabolic setting the main results in [Advances in Math. {202} (2006), 555-601]. As a consequence, the parabolic Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomial indexed by $u$ and $v$ depends only on the poset structure of the Bruhat interval from the identity element to $v$ and on which elements of that interval are minimal coset representatives.

We study the root polytope $\mathcal P_Φ$ of a finite irreducible crystallographic root system $Φ$ using its relation with the abelian ideals of a Borel subalgebra of a simple Lie algebra with root system $Φ$. We determine the hyperplane arrangement corresponding to the faces of codimension 2 of $\mathcal P_Φ$ and analyze its relation with the facets of $\mathcal P_Φ$. For $Φ$ of type $A_n$ or $C_n$, we show that the orbits of some special subsets of abelian ideals under the action of the Weyl group parametrize a triangulation of $\mathcal P_Φ$. We show that this triangulation restricts to a triangulation of the positive root polytope $\mathcal P_Φ^+$.

We give a uniform explicit description of the polytope $\mathcal P_Φ$, analyze the algebraic-combinatorial structure of its faces, and provide connections with the Borel subalgebra of the associated Lie algebra. We also give several enumerative results.

We introduce a method to reduce the study of the topology of a simplicial complex to that of a simpler one. We give some applications of this method to complexes arising from graphs. As a consequence, we answer some questions raised in [R.Ehrenborg, G.Hetyei, European J.Combin.27 (2006), no.6, 906-923] on the independence complex and the dominance complex. The techniques used come mainly from monomial ideal theory.
