Let $S$ be a polynomial ring in $n$ variables over a field $K$ of characteristic $0$. A numerical characterization of all possible extremal Betti numbers of any graded submodule of a finitely generated graded free $S$-module is given.

The Beauville-Fujiki relation for a compact Hyperkähler manifold $X$ of dimension $2k$ allows to equip the symmetric power $\text{Sym}^kH^2(X)$ with a symmetric bilinear form induced by the Beauville-Bogomolov form. We study some of its properties and compare it to the form given by the Poincaré pairing.
The construction generalizes to a definition for an induced symmetric bilinear form on the symmetric power of any free module equipped with a symmetric bilinear form. We point out how the situation is related to the theory of orthogonal polynomials in several variables. Finally, we construct a basis of homogeneous polynomials that are orthogonal when integrated over the unit sphere $\mathbb{S}^d$, or equivalently, over $\mathbb{R}^{d+1}$ with a Gaussian kernel.
The signed random-to-top operator on tensor space (draft)
Given a free module L over a commutative ring k, we study two k-linear operators on the tensor algebra of T(L): One of them sends a pure tensor u_1 (X) u_2 (X) ... (X) u_k to the sum of all tensors u_i (X) u_1 (X) u_2 (X) ... (X) (skip u_i) (X) ... (X) u_k. The other is similar, but the sum is replaced by an alternating sum. These operators can be regarded as algebraic analogues of the "random-to-top shuffle" from combinatorics. We describe the kernel of the second operator (which we call boldface-t); it is a certain easily described Lie subsuperalgebra of T(L). We also describe the kernel of the first operator (which is denoted boldface-t') when the additive group k is torsionfree (the description is analogous to that of the kernel of t) and also when k is an algebra over a finite field (in this case, the description is slightly complicated by the presence of p-th powers).

For a reductive Lie algebra $\mathfrak h$ and a simple finite-dimensional $\mathfrak h$-module $V$, the set of weights of $V$, $P(V)$, has a natural poset structure. We consider antichains in the weight poset $P(V)$ and a certain operator $\mathfrak X$ acting on antichains. Eventually, we impose stronger constraints on $(\mathfrak h,V)$ and stick to the case in which $\mathfrak h$ and $V$ are associated with a $Z$-grading of a simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$. Then $V$ is a weight multiplicity free $\mathfrak h$-module and $P(V)$ can be regarded as a subposet of $Δ^+$, where $Δ$ is the root system of $\mathfrak g$. Our goal is to demonstrate that antichains in the weight posets associated with $Z$-gradings of $\mathfrak g$ exhibit many good properties similar to those of $Δ^+$ that are observed earlier in arXiv: math.CO 0711.3353 (=Ref. [14] in the text).

The Fomin-Kirillov algebra $\mathcal E_n$ is a noncommutative quadratic algebra with a generator for every edge of the complete graph on $n$ vertices. For any graph $G$ on $n$ vertices, we define $\mathcal E_G$ to be the subalgebra of $\mathcal E_n$ generated by the edges of $G$. We show that these algebras have many parallels with Coxeter groups and their nil-Coxeter algebras: for instance, $\mathcal E_G$ is a free $\mathcal E_H$-module for any $H\subseteq G$, and if $\mathcal E_G$ is finite-dimensional, then its Hilbert series has symmetric coefficients. We determine explicit monomial bases and Hilbert series for $\mathcal E_G$ when $G$ is a simply-laced finite Dynkin diagram or a cycle, in particular showing that $\mathcal E_G$ is finite-dimensional in these cases. We also present conjectures for the Hilbert series of $\mathcal E_{\tilde{D}_n}$, $\mathcal E_{\tilde{E}_6}$, and $\mathcal E_{\tilde{E}_7}$, as well as for which graphs $G$ on six vertices $\mathcal E_G$ is finite-dimensional.
Results on the Erd\H os-Falconer distance problem in $\mathbb{Z}_q^d$ for odd $q$
The Erd\H os-Falconer distance problem in $\mathbb{Z}_q^d$ asks one to show that if $E \subset \mathbb{Z}_q^d$ is of sufficiently large cardinality, then $Δ(E) := \{(x_1 - y_1)^2 + \dots + (x_d - y_d)^2 : x, y \in E\}$ satisfies $Δ(E) = \mathbb{Z}_q$. Here, $\mathbb{Z}_q$ is the set of integers modulo $q$, and $\mathbb{Z}_q^d$ is the free module of rank $d$ over $\mathbb{Z}_q$. We extend known results in two directions. Previous results were known only in the setting $q = p^{\ell}$, where $p$ is an odd prime, and as such only showed that all units were obtained in the distance set. We remove the constriction that $q$ is a power of a prime, and despite this, shows that the distance set of $E$ contains \emph{all} of $\mathbb{Z}_q$ whenever $E$ is sufficiently large.

We introduce to the context of multigraded modules the methods of modules over categories from algebraic topology and homotopy theory. We develop the basic theory quite generally, with a view toward future applications to a wide class of graded modules over graded rings. The main application in this paper is to study the Betti poset B=B(I,k) of a monomial ideal I in the polynomial ring R=k[x_1,...,x_m] over a field k, which consists of all degrees in Z^m of the homogeneous basis elements of the free modules in the minimal free Z^m-graded resolution of I over R. We show that the order simplicial complex of B supports a free resolution of I over R. We give a formula for the Betti numbers of I in terms of Betti numbers of open intervals of B, and we show that the isomorphism class of B completely determines the structure of the minimal free resolution of I, thus generalizing with new proofs results of Gasharov, Peeva, and Welker. We also characterize the finite posets that are Betti posets of a monomial ideal.

We say that the sequence $g_n$, $n\ge 3$, $n \rightarrow \infty$ of polynomial transformation bijective maps of free module $K^n$ over commutative ring $K$ is a sequence of stable degree if the order of $g_n$ is growing with $n$ and the degree of each nonidentical polynomial map of kind ${g_n}^k$ is an independent constant $c$. A transformation $b=τ
{g_n}^k τ^{-1}$, where $τ$ is affine bijection, $n$ is large and $k$ is relatively small, can be used as a base of group theoretical Diffie-Hellman key exchange algorithm for the Cremona group $C(K^n)$ of all regular automorphisms of $K^n$. The specific feature of this method is that the order of the base may be unknown for the adversary because of the complexity of its computation. The exchange can be implemented by tools of Computer Algebra (symbolic computations). The adversary can not use the degree of righthandside in $b^x=d$ to evaluate unknown $x$ in this form for the discrete logarithm problem.
In the paper we introduce the explicit constructions of sequences of elements of stable degree for cases $c=3$ for each commutative ring $K$ containing at least 3 regular elements and discuss the implementation of related key exchange and public key algorithms.

In his affirmative answer to the Edelman-Reiner conjecture, Yoshinaga proved that the logarithmic derivation modules of the cones of the extended Shi arrangements are free modules. However, all we know about the bases is their existence and degrees. In this article, we introduce two distinguished bases for the modules. More specifically, we will define and study the simple-root basis plus (SRB+) and the simple-root basis minus (SRB-) when a primitive derivation is fixed. They have remarkable properties relevant to the simple roots and those properties characterize the bases.

Let $\A$ be an irreducible Coxeter arrangement and $W$ be its Coxeter group. Then $W$ naturally acts on $\A$. A multiplicity $\bfm : \A\rightarrow \Z$ is said to be equivariant when $\bfm$ is constant on each $W$-orbit of $\A$. In this article, we prove that the multi-derivation module $D(\A, \bfm)$ is a free module whenever $\bfm$ is equivariant by explicitly constructing a basis, which generalizes the main theorem of \cite{T02}. The main tool is a primitive derivation and its covariant derivative. Moreover, we show that the $W$-invariant part $D(\A, \bfm)^{W}$ for any multiplicity $\bfm$ is a free module over the $W$-invariant subring.

We prove that the subset of quasisymmetric polynomials conjectured by Bergeron and Reutenauer to be a basis for the coinvariant space of quasisymmetric polynomials is indeed a basis. This provides the first constructive proof of the Garsia-Wallach result stating that quasisymmetric polynomials form a free module over symmetric polynomials and that the dimension of this module is n!.
An Algorithm to Construct A Basis for the Module of Logarithmic Vector Fields
We consider logarithmic vector fields parametrized by finite collections of weighted hyperplanes. For a finite collection of weighted hyperplanes in a two-dimensional vector space, it is known that the set of such vector fields is a free module of rank two whose basis elements are homogeneous. We give an algorithm to construct a homogeneous basis for the module.

Let $m, n\in{\mathbb N}$. In this paper we study the right permutation action of the symmetric group ${\mathfrak S}_{2n}$ on the set of all the Brauer $n$-diagrams. A new basis for the free ${\mathbb Z}$-module ${\mathfrak B}_n$ spanned by these Brauer $n$-diagrams is constructed, which yields Specht filtrations for ${\mathfrak B}_n$. For any $2m$-dimensional vector space $V$ over a field of arbitrary characteristic, we give an explicit and characteristic free description of the annihilator of the $n$-tensor space $V^{\otimes n}$ in the Brauer algebra ${\mathfrak B}_n(-2m)$. In particular, we show that it is a ${\mathfrak S}_{2n}$-submodule of ${\mathfrak B}_n(-2m)$.
Resolution of the residue class field via algebraic discrete Morse theory
Forman's Discrete Morse theory is studied from an algebraic viewpoint. Analogous to independent work of Emil Skoeldberg we show that this theory can be extended to chain complexes of free modules over a ring. We provide three applications of this theory: We construct new resolutions of the residue class field $k$ over $A$, where $A$ is the quotient of a (i) commutative polynomial ring or (ii) non-commutaitve polynomial ring by a (twosided) ideal and (iii) we construct a new resolution of $A$ as an $A \otimes A^{op}$-module in the situation (ii). In either case we prove minimality of the resolution for certain classes of algebras $A$.

Let $V$ be an $\ell$-dimensional Euclidean space. Let $G \subset O(V)$ be a finite irreducible orthogonal reflection group. Let ${\cal A}$ be the corresponding Coxeter arrangement. Let $S$ be the algebra of polynomial functions on $V.$ For $H \in {\cal A}$ choose $α_H \in V^*$ such that $H = {\rm ker}(α_H).$ For each nonnegative integer $m$, define the derivation module $\sD^{(m)}({\cal A}) = \{θ\in {\rm Der}_S | θ(α_H) \in S α^m_H\}$. The module is known to be a free $S$-module of rank $\ell$ by K. Saito (1975) for $m=1$ and L. Solomon-H. Terao (1998) for $m=2$. The main result of this paper is that this is the case for all $m$. Moreover we explicitly construct a basis for $\sD^{(m)} (\cal A)$. Their degrees are all equal to $mh/2$ (when $m$ is even) or are equal to $((m-1)h/2) + m_i (1 \leq i \leq \ell)$ (when $m$ is odd). Here $m_1 \leq ... \leq m_{\ell}$ are the exponents of $G$ and $h= m_{\ell} + 1$ is the Coxeter number. The construction heavily uses the primitive derivation $D$ which plays a central role in the theory of flat generators by K. Saito (or equivalently the Frobenius manifold structure for the orbit space of $G$.) Some new results concerning the primitive derivation $D$ are obtained in the course of proof of the main result.
