We study the following preferential attachment variant of the classical Erdos-Renyi random graph process. Starting with an empty graph on n vertices, new edges are added one-by-one, and each time an edge is chosen with probability roughly proportional to the product of the current degrees of its endpoints (note that the vertex set is fixed). We determine the asymptotic size of the giant component in the supercritical phase, confirming a conjecture of Pittel from 2010. Our proof uses a simple method: we condition on the vertex degrees (of a multigraph variant), and use known results for the configuration model.
A note on unitary Cayley graphs of matrix algebras
Dariush Kiani et al.\cite{kiani2015unitary} claim to have found the unitary Cayley graph $Cay(M_{n}(F),GL_{n}(F))$ of matrix algebras over finite field $F$ is strongly regular only when $n=2$, but they have only considered two special cases, namely when $n = 2$ and $3$ and have failed to cover the general cases. In this paper, we prove that the unitary Cayley graph of matrix algebras over finite field $F$ is strongly regular if and only if $n=2$.

Recently there has been significant progress in classifying integer friezes and $\text{SL}_2$-tilings. Typically, combinatorial methods are employed, involving triangulations of regions and inventive counting techniques. Here we develop a unified approach to such classifications using the tessellation of the hyperbolic plane by ideal triangles induced by the Farey graph. We demonstrate that the geometric, numeric and combinatorial properties of the Farey graph are perfectly suited to classifying tame $\text{SL}_2$-tilings, positive integer $\text{SL}_2$-tilings, and tame integer friezes -- both finite and infinite. In so doing, we obtain geometric analogues of certain known combinatorial models for tilings involving triangulations, and we prove several new results of a similar type too. For instance, we determine those bi-infinite sequences of positive integers that are the quiddity sequence of some positive infinite frieze, and we give a simple combinatorial model for classifying tame integer friezes, which generalises the classical construction of Conway and Coxeter for positive integer friezes.
Degree lists and connectedness are $3$-reconstructible for graphs with at least seven vertices
The $k$-deck of a graph is the multiset of its subgraphs induced by $k$ vertices. A graph or graph property is $l$-reconstructible if it is determined by the deck of subgraphs obtained by deleting $l$ vertices. We show that the degree list of an $n$-vertex graph is $3$-reconstructible when $n\ge7$, and the threshold on $n$ is sharp. Using this result, we show that when $n\ge7$ the $(n-3)$-deck also determines whether an $n$-vertex graph is connected; this is also sharp. These results extend the results of Chernyak and Manvel, respectively, that the degree list and connectedness are $2$-reconstructible when $n\ge6$, which are also sharp.
Every planar graph with $Δ\geqslant 8$ is totally $(Δ+2)$-choosable
Total coloring is a variant of edge coloring where both vertices and edges are to be colored. A graph is totally $k$-choosable if for any list assignment of $k$ colors to each vertex and each edge, we can extract a proper total coloring. In this setting, a graph of maximum degree $Δ$ needs at least $Δ+1$ colors. In the planar case, Borodin proved in 1989 that $Δ+2$ colors suffice when $Δ$ is at least 9. We show that this bound also holds when $Δ$ is $8$.
The Lifting Properties of A-Homotopy Theory
In classical homotopy theory, two spaces are homotopy equivalent if one space can be continuously deformed into the other. This theory, however, does not respect the discrete nature of graphs. For this reason, a discrete homotopy theory that recognizes the difference between the vertices and edges of a graph was invented, called A-homotopy theory [1-5]. In classical homotopy theory, covering spaces and lifting properties are often used to compute the fundamental group of the circle. In this paper, we develop the lifting properties for A-homotopy theory. Using a covering graph and these lifting properties, we compute the fundamental group of the 5-cycle, giving an alternate approach to [4].
Self-avoiding walk on the complete graph
There is an extensive literature concerning self-avoiding walk on infinite graphs, but the subject is relatively undeveloped on finite graphs. The purpose of this paper is to elucidate the phase transition for self-avoiding walk on the simplest finite graph: the complete graph. We make the elementary observation that the susceptibility of the self-avoiding walk on the complete graph is given exactly in terms of the incomplete gamma function. The known asymptotic behaviour of the incomplete gamma function then yields a complete description of the finite-size scaling of the self-avoiding walk on the complete graph. As a basic example, we compute the limiting distribution of the length of a self-avoiding walk on the complete graph, in subcritical, critical, and supercritical regimes. This provides a prototype for more complex unsolved problems such as the self-avoiding walk on the hypercube or on a high-dimensional torus.
Maximin share allocations on cycles
The problem of fair division of indivisible goods is a fundamental problem of social choice. Recently, the problem was extended to the case when goods form a graph and the goal is to allocate goods to agents so that each agent's bundle forms a connected subgraph. For the maximin share fairness criterion researchers proved that if goods form a tree, allocations offering each agent a bundle of at least her maximin share value always exist. Moreover, they can be found in polynomial time. We consider here the problem of maximin share allocations of goods on a cycle. Despite the simplicity of the graph, the problem turns out to be significantly harder than its tree version. We present cases when maximin share allocations of goods on cycles exist and provide results on allocations guaranteeing each agent a certain portion of her maximin share. We also study algorithms for computing maximin share allocations of goods on cycles.
Structure of the largest subgraphs of $G_{n,p}$ with a given matching number
This paper examines the structure of the largest subgraphs of the Erdős-Rényi random graph, $G_{n,p}$, with a given matching number. This extends a result of Erdős and Gallai who, in 1959, gave a classification of the structures of the largest subgraphs of $K_n$ with a given matching number. We show that their result extends to $G_{n,p}$ with high probability when $p\ge \frac{8 \ln n}{n}$ or $p \ll \frac{1}{n}$, but that it does not extend (again with high probability) when $\frac{4\ln(2e)}{n} < p< \frac{\ln n}{3n}$.
The $h^{*}$-polynomial of the cut polytope of $K_{2,m}$ in the lattice spanned by its vertices
The cut polytope of a graph is an important object in several fields, such as functional analysis, combinatorial optimization, and probability. For example, Sturmfels and Sullivant showed that the toric ideals of cut polytopes are useful in algebraic statistics. In the theory of lattice polytopes, the $h^{*}$-polynomial is one of the most important invariants. The necessary and sufficient condition in terms of graphs that the $h^{*}$-polynomial of a cut polytope is palindromic is known. However, except for trees, there are no classes of graphs for which the $h^{*}$-polynomial of their cut polytope is explicitly specified. In the present paper, we determine the $h^{*}$-polynomial of the cut polytope of complete bipartite graph $K_{2,m}$ using the theory of Gröbner bases of toric ideals.
A coupling of the spectral measures at a vertex
Given the adjacency matrix of an undirected graph, we define a coupling of the spectral measures at the vertices, whose moments count the rooted closed paths in the graph. The resulting joint spectral measure verifies numerous interesting properties that allow to recover minors of analytical functions of the adjacency matrix from its generalized moments. We prove an extension of Obata's Central Limit Theorem in growing star-graphs to the multivariate case and discuss some combinatorial properties using Viennot's heaps of pieces point of view.

We generalize Kudryavtseva and Mazorchuk's concept of canonical form of elements in Kiselman's semigroups to the setting of a Hecke-Kiselman monoid $\mathbf{HK}_Γ$ associated with a simple oriented graph $Γ$. We use confluence properties to associate with each element in $\mathbf{HK}_Γ$ a normal form; normal forms are not unique, and we show that they can be obtained from each other by a sequence of elementary commutations. We finally describe a general procedure to recover a (unique) lexicographically minimal normal form.
On Topological Properties of Third type of Hex Derived Networks
In chemical graph theory, a topological index is a numerical representation of a chemical network while a topological descriptor correlates certain physico-chemical characteristics of underlying chemical compounds besides its chemical representation. Graph plays an vital role in modeling and designing any chemical network. F. Simonraj et al. derived new third type of Hex derived networks [27]. In our work, we discuss the third type of hex derived networks HDN3(r), THDN3(r) and RHDN3(r) and computed exact results for topological indices which are based on degrees of end vertices.
Combinatorial encoding of continious dynamics, and transfer of the space of paths of the graded graphs
These notes follow my articles [1, 6], and give some new important details. We propose here a new combinatorial method of encoding of measure spaces with measure preserving transformations, (or groups of transformations) in order to give new, mostly locally finite geometrical models for investigation of dynamical properties of these objects.
Coxeter submodular functions and deformations of Coxeter permutahedra
We describe the cone of deformations of a Coxeter permutahedron, or equivalently, the nef cone of the toric variety associated to a Coxeter complex. This family of polytopes contains polyhedral models for the Coxeter-theoretic analogs of compositions, graphs, matroids, posets, and associahedra. Our description extends the known correspondence between generalized permutahedra, polymatroids, and submodular functions to any finite reflection group.
Cops and robbers on oriented toroidal grids
The game of cops and robbers is a well-known game played on graphs. In this paper we consider the straight-ahead orientations of 4-regular quadrangulations of the torus and the Klein bottle and we prove that their cop number is bounded by a constant. We also show that the cop number of every k-regularly oriented toroidal grid is at most 13.
Graphs that are critical for the packing chromatic number
Given a graph $G$, a coloring $c:V(G)\longrightarrow \{1,\ldots,k\}$ such that $c(u)=c(v)=i$ implies that vertices $u$ and $v$ are at distance greater than $i$, is called a packing coloring of $G$. The minimum number of colors in a packing coloring of $G$ is called the packing chromatic number of $G$, and is denoted by $χ_ρ(G)$. In this paper, we propose the study of $χ_ρ$-critical graphs, which are the graphs $G$ such that for any proper subgraph $H$ of $G$, $χ_ρ(H)<χ_ρ(G)$. We characterize $χ_ρ$-critical graphs with diameter 2, and $χ_ρ$-critical block graphs with diameter 3. Furthermore, we characterize $χ_ρ$-critical graphs with small packing chromatic numbers, and we also consider $χ_ρ$-critical trees. In addition, we prove that for any graph $G$ with $e\in E(G)$, we have $(χ_ρ(G)+1)/2\le χ_ρ(G-e)\le χ_ρ(G)$, and provide a corresponding realization result, which shows that $χ_ρ(G-e)$ can achieve any of the integers between the bounds.

The goal of this paper is to obtain quantitative results on the number and on the size of maximal independent sets and maximal matchings in several block-stable graph classes that satisfy a proper sub-criticality condition. In particular we cover trees, cacti graphs and series-parallel graphs. The proof methods are based on a generating function approach and a proper singularity analysis of solutions of implicit systems of functional equations in several variables. As a byproduct, this method extends previous results of Meir and Moon for trees [Meir, Moon: On maximal independent sets of nodes in trees, Journal of Graph Theory 1988].
The birth of the contradictory component in random 2-SAT
We prove that, with high probability, the contradictory components of a random 2-SAT formula in the subcritical phase of the phase transition have only 3-regular kernels. This follows from the relation between these kernels and the complex component of a random graph in the subcritical phase. This partly settles the question about the structural similarity between the phase transitions in 2-SAT and random graphs. As a byproduct, we describe the technique that allows to obtain a full asymptotic expansion of the satisfiability in the subcritical phase. We also obtain the distribution of the number of contradictory variables and the structure of the spine in the subcritical phase.
Collapsibility of non-cover complexes of graphs
Given a graph $G$, the non-cover complex of $G$ is the combinatorial Alexander dual of the independence complex of $G$. Aharoni asked if the non-cover complex of a graph $G$ without isolated vertices is $(|V(G)|-i γ(G)-1)$-collapsible where $i γ(G)$ denotes the independent domination number of $G$. Extending a result by the second author, who verified Aharoni's question in the affirmative for chordal graphs, we prove that the answer to the question is yes for all graphs. Namely, we show that for a graph $G$, the non-cover complex of a graph $G$ is $(|V(G)|-i γ(G)-1)$-collapsible.
