Multiplicative topological indices: Analytical properties and application to random networks
We make use of multiplicative degree-based topological indices $X_Π(G)$ to perform a detailed analytical and statistical study of random networks $G=(V(G),E(G))$. We consider two classes of indices: $X_Π(G) = \prod_{u \in V(G)} F_V(d_u)$ and $X_Π(G) = \prod_{uv \in E(G)} F_E(d_u,d_v)$, where $uv$ denotes the edge of $G$ connecting the vertices $u$ and $v$, $d_u$ is the degree of the vertex $u$, and $F_V(x)$ and $F_E(x,y)$ are functions of the vertex degrees. Specifically, we find analytical inequalities involving these multiplicative indices. Also, we apply $X_Π(G)$ on three models of random networks: Erdös-Rényi networks, random geometric graphs, and bipartite random networks. We show that $\left< \ln X_Π(G) \right>$, normalized to the order of the network, scale with the corresponding average degree; here $\left< \cdot \right>$ denotes the average over an ensemble of random networks.
The sufficient conditions for $k$-leaf-connected graphs in terms of several topological indices
Let $G=(V(G), E(G))$ be a graph with vertex set $V(G)$ and edge set $E(G)$. For $k\geq2$ and given any subset $S\subseteq|V(G)|$ with $|S|=k$, if a graph $G$ of order $|V(G)|\geq k+1$ always has a spanning tree $T$ such that $S$ is precisely the set of leaves of $T$, then the graph $G$ is a $k$-leaf-connected graph. A graph $G$ is called Hamilton-connected if any two vertices of $G$ are connected by a Hamilton path. Based on the definitions of $k$-leaf-connected and Hamilton-connected, we known that a graph is $2$-leaf-connected if and only if it is Hamilton-connected. During the past decades, there have been many results of sufficient conditions for Hamilton-connected with respect to topological indices. In this paper, we present sufficient conditions for a graph $G$ to be $k$-leaf-connected in terms of the Zagreb index, the reciprocal degree distance or the hyper-Zagreb index. Furthermore, we use the first Zagreb index and hyper-Zagreb index of the complement graph $\overline{G}$ to give sufficient conditions for a graph $G$ to be $k$-leaf-connected.

The $k$-coalescence of two graphs is obtained by merging a $k$-clique of each graph. The $A_α$-matrix of a graph is the convex combination of its degree matrix and adjacency matrix. In this paper, we present some structural properties of a non-regular graph which is obtained from the $k$-coalescence of two graphs. Also, we derive the $A_α$-characteristic polynomial of $k$-coalescence of two graphs and then compute the $A_α$-spectra of $k$-coalescence of two complete graphs. In addition, we estimate the $A_α$-energy of $k$-coalescence of two complete graphs. Furthermore, we obtain some topological indices of vertex coalescence of two graphs, and as an application, we determine some indices of some family of graphs. From these results, we calculate the Wiener index, hyper-Wiener index etc. of the organic compound 1,2-dicyclohexylethane(\ce{C_{14}H_{26}}).
A note on topological indices and the twin classes of graphs
Topological indices are parameters associated with graphs that have many applications in different areas such as mathematical chemistry. Among various topological indices, the Wiener index is classical \cite{w}. In this paper, we prove a formula for the Wiener index and more general $m$-Steiner Wiener index of an arbitrary graph $G$ in terms of the cardinalities of its twin classes. In particular, we will show that calculating these parameters for the graph $G$ can be reduced to calculating the same for a much smaller graph (in general) called the reduced graph of $G$.
As applications of our main result, the $m$-Steiner Wiener index is explicitly calculated for various important classes of graphs from the literature including
\begin{enumerate}
\item[(a)] Power graphs associated with finite groups,
\item[(b)] Zero divisor graphs and the ideal-based zero divisor graphs associated with commutative rings with unity, and
\item[(c)] Comaximal ideal graphs associated with commutative rings with unity. \end{enumerate} We have also found an upper bound on the $m$-Steiner Wiener index of an infinite class of graphs called the completely joined graphs. As a corollary of this result, we explicitly calculate the $m$-Steiner Wiener index of the complete multipartite graphs.
Selected topics on Wiener index
The Wiener index is defined as the sum of distances between all unordered pairs of vertices in a graph. It is one of the most recognized and well-researched topological indices, which is on the other hand still a very active area of research. This work presents a natural continuation of the paper Mathematical aspects of Wiener index (Ars Math. Contemp., 2016) in which several interesting open questions on the topic were outlined. Here we collect answers gathered so far, give further insights on the topic of extremal values of Wiener index in different settings, and present further intriguing problems and conjectures.
Adjacency Spectrum and Wiener Index of the Essential Ideal Graph of a Finite Commutative Ring $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with unity. The essential ideal graph $\mathcal{E}_{R}$ of $R$, is a graph with a vertex set consisting of all nonzero proper ideals of \textit{R} and two vertices $I$ and $K$ are adjacent if and only if $I+ K$ is an essential ideal. In this paper, we study the adjacency spectrum of the essential ideal graph of the finite commutative ring $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$, for $n=\{p^{m}, p^{m_{1}}q^{m_{2}}\}$, where $p,q$ are distinct primes, and $m,m_{1}, m_2\in \mathbb N$. We show that $0$ is an eigenvalue of the adjacency matrix of $\mathcal{E}_{\mathbb{Z}_{n}}$ if and only if either $n= p^2$ or $n$ is not a product of distinct primes. We also determine all the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of $\mathcal{E}_{\mathbb{Z}_{n}}$ whenever $n$ is a product of three or four distinct primes. Moreover, we calculate the topological indices, namely the Wiener index and hyper-Wiener index of the essential ideal graph of $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$ for different forms of $n$
Mathematical results on harmonic polynomials
Some years ago, the harmonic polynomial was introduced in order to understand better the harmonic topological index; for instance, it allows to obtain bounds of the harmonic index of the main products of graphs. Here, we obtain several properties of this polynomial, and we prove that several properties of graphs can be deduced from their harmonic polynomials. Also, we show that two graphs with the same harmonic polynomial have to be similar.
Computational analysis of NM-polynomial based topological indices and graph-entropies of carbon nanotube Y-junctions
Carbon nanotube Y-junctions are of great interest to the next generation of innovative multi-terminal nanodevices. Topological indices are graph-theoretically based parameters that describe various structural properties of a chemical molecule. The entropy of a graph is a topological descriptor that serves to characterize the complexity of the underlying molecular graph. The concept of entropy is a physical property of a thermodynamic system. Graph entropies are the essential thermophysical quantities defined for various graph invariants and are applied to measure the heterogeneity and relative stabilities of molecules. In this paper, several neighborhood degree sum-based topological indices including graph-based entropies of carbon nanotube Y-junction graphs are computed.

The Sombor index is a topological index in graph theory defined by Gutman in 2021. In this article, we find the maximum Sombor index of trees of order $\mathbf{n}$ with a given dissociation number $\varphi$, where $\ceil*{\frac{2\mathbf{n}}{3}} \leq \varphi(G) \leq \mathbf{n}-1$. We also provide the unique graph among the chosen class where the maximum Sombor index is attained.

On k-distance degree based topological indices of benzenoid systems
Topological indices are graph invariants numeric quantities, which are utilized by researchers to analyze a variety of physiochemical aspects of molecules. The goal of developing topological indices is to give each chemical structure a numerical value while maintaining the highest level of differentiation. Using these indices, the classification of various structures, and their physiochemical and biological properties can be predicted. In this paper, the leap and leap hyper Zagreb indices, as well as their polynomials for a zigzag benzenoid system $Z_{p}$ and a rhombic benzenoid system $R_{p}$ are determined. In addition, new $k$-distance degree-based topological indices such as leap-Somber index, hyper leap forgotten index, leap $Y$ index, and leap $Y$ coindex are also computed for the molecular graphs of $Z_p$ and $R_p$. Furthermore, their numerical computation and discussion are performed to determine the significance of their physiochemical properties.
Minimizing the Sombor Index among Trees with Fixed Degree Sequence
Vertex-degree-based topological indices have recently gained a lot of attention from mathematical chemists. One such index that we focus on in this paper is called Sombor index. After its definition in late 2020, the Sombor index was quickly recognized as a valuable research topic. In this paper we partially answer the open question of finding the extremal trees with respect to this index for a fixed degree sequence. Particularly we focus on the lower bound and proceed to show that greedy tree minimizes the Sombor index for a given degree sequence.

For a graph $G=(V,E)$ and $v_{i}\in V$, denote by $d_{i}$ the degree of vertex $v_{i}$. Let $f(x, y)>0$ be a real symmetric function in $x$ and $y$. The weighted adjacency matrix $A_{f}(G)$ of a graph $G$ is a square matrix, where the $(i,j)$-entry is equal to $\displaystyle f(d_{i}, d_{j})$ if the vertices $v_{i}$ and $v_{j}$ are adjacent and 0 otherwise. Li and Wang \cite{U9} tried to unify methods to study spectral radius of weighted adjacency matrices of graphs weighted by various topological indices. If $\displaystyle f'_{x}(x, y)\geq0$ and $\displaystyle f''_{x}(x, y)\geq0$, then $\displaystyle f(x, y)$ is said to be increasing and convex in variable $x$, respectively. They obtained the tree with the largest spectral radius of $A_{f}(G)$ is a star or a double star when $f(x, y)$ is increasing and convex in variable $x$. In this paper, we add the following restriction: $f(x_{1},y_{1})\geq f(x_{2},y_{2})$ if $x_{1}+y_{1}=x_{2}+y_{2}$ and $\mid x_{1}-y_{1}\mid>\mid x_{2}-y_{2}\mid$
and call $A_f(G)$ the restrictedly weighted adjacency matrix of $G$. The restrictedly weighted adjacency matrix contains weighted adjacency matrices weighted by first Zagreb index, first hyper-Zagreb index, general sum-connectivity index, forgotten index, Somber index, $p$-Sombor index and so on. We obtain the extremal trees with the smallest and the largest spectral radius of $A_{f}(G)$. Our results push ahead Li and Wang's research on unified approaches.
Extremal trees for Maximum Sombor index with given degree sequence
Let $G=(V, E)$ be a simple graph with vertex set $V$ and edge set $E$. The Sombor index of the graph $G$ is a degree-based topological index, defined as $$SO(G)=\sum_{uv \in E}\sqrt{d(u)^2+d(v)^2},$$ in which $d(x)$ is the degree of the vertex $x \in V$ for $x=u, v$. In this paper, we characterize the extremal trees with a given degree sequence that maximizes the Sombor index.

In this paper we give new bounds for a several vertex-based and edge-based topological indices of graphs: Albertson irregularity index, degree variance index, Mostar and the first Zagreb index. Moreover, we give a new upper bound for the energy of graphs through IRB-index. Most of our results rely on a well-known characterization of the Laplacian spectral radius.
On the distance spectrum and distance-based topological indices of central vertex-edge join of three graphs
Topological indices are molecular descriptors that describe the properties of chemical compounds. These topological indices correlate specific physico-chemical properties like boiling point, enthalpy of vaporization, strain energy, and stability of chemical compounds. This article introduces a new graph operation based on central graph called central vertex-edge join and provides its results related to graph invariants like eccentric-connectivity index, connective eccentricity index, total-eccentricity index, average eccentricity index, Zagreb eccentricity indices, eccentric geometric-arithmetic index, eccentric atom-bond connectivity index, and Wiener index. Also, we discuss the distance spectrum of the central vertex-edge join of three regular graphs. Furthermore, we obtain new families of $D$-equienergetic graphs, which are non $D$-cospectral.
On the Sombor index of graphs with given connectivity and number of bridges
Recently in 2021, Gutman introduced the Sombor index of a graph, a novel degree-based topological index. It has been shown that the Sombor index efficiently models the thermodynamic properties of chemical compounds. Assume $\mathbb{B}_n^k$ (resp. $\mathbb{V}_n^k$) comprises all graphs with order $n$ having number of bridges (resp. vertex-connectivity) $k$. Horoldagva & Xu (2021) characterized graphs achieving the maximum Sombor index of graphs in $\mathbb{B}_n^k$. This paper characterizes graphs achieving the minimum Sombor index in $\mathbb{B}_n^k$. Certain auxiliary operation on graphs in $\mathbb{B}_n^k$ are introduced and employed for the characterization. Moreover, we characterize graphs achieving maximum Sombor index in $\mathbb{V}_n^k$. ome open problems, which naturally arise from this work, have been proposed at the end.
On Zero-Divisor Graph of the ring $\mathbb{F}_p+u\mathbb{F}_p+u^2 \mathbb{F}_p$
In this article, we discussed the zero-divisor graph of a commutative ring with identity $\mathbb{F}_p+u\mathbb{F}_p+u^2 \mathbb{F}_p$ where $u^3=0$ and $p$ is an odd prime. We find the clique number, chromatic number, vertex connectivity, edge connectivity, diameter and girth of a zero-divisor graph associated with the ring. We find some of topological indices and the main parameters of the code derived from the incidence matrix of the zero-divisor graph $Γ(R).$ Also, we find the eigenvalues, energy and spectral radius of both adjacency and Laplacian matrices of $Γ(R).$

The Sombor index (SO) is a vertex-degree-based graph invariant, defined as the sum over all pairs of adjacent vertices of $\sqrt{d_i^2+d_j^2}$, where $d_i$ is the degree of the $i$-th vertex. It has been conceived using geometric considerations. Recently, a series of new SO-like degree-based graph invariants (denoted by $SO_1, SO_2,..., SO_6$) is taken into consideration, when the geometric background of several classical topological indices (Zagreb, Albertson) has considered. In this paper, we compute and study these new indices for some graphs, cactus chains and polymers.

A topological index reflects the physical, chemical and structural properties of a molecule, and its study has an important role in molecular topology, chemical graph theory and mathematical chemistry. It is a natural problem to characterize non-isomorphic graphs with the same topological index value. By introducing a relation on trees with respect to edge division vectors, denoted by $\langle\mathcal{T}_n, \preceq \rangle$, in this paper we give some results for the relation order in $\langle\mathcal{T}_n, \preceq \rangle$, it allows us to compare the size of the topological index value without relying on the specific forms of them, and naturally we can determine which trees have the same topological index value. Based on these results we characterize some classes of trees that are uniquely determined by their edge division vectors and construct infinite classes of non-isomorphic trees with the same topological index value, particularly such trees of order no more than $10$ are completely determined.
