In 2019, Letzter confirmed a conjecture of Balogh, Barát, Gerbner, Gyárfás and Sárközy, proving that every large $2$-edge-coloured graph $G$ on $n$ vertices with minimum degree at least $3n/4$ can be partitioned into two monochromatic cycles of different colours. Here, we propose a weaker condition on the degree sequence of $G$ to also guarantee such a partition and prove an approximate version. This resembles a similar generalisation to an Ore-type condition achieved by Barát and Sárközy.
Continuing work by Allen, Böttcher, Lang, Skokan and Stein, we also show that if $\operatorname{deg}(u) + \operatorname{deg}(v) \geq 4n/3 + o(n)$ holds for all non-adjacent vertices $u,v \in V(G)$, then all but $o(n)$ vertices can be partitioned into three monochromatic cycles.
Mahler/Zeta Correspondence

The Mahler measure was introduced by Mahler in the study of number theory. It is known that the Mahler measure appears in different areas of mathematics and physics. On the other hand, we have been investigated a new class of zeta functions for various kinds of walks including quantum walks by a series of our previous work on "Zeta Correspondence". The quantum walk is a quantum counterpart of the random walk. In this paper, we present a new relation between the Mahler measure and our zeta function for quantum walks. Firstly we consider this relation in the case of one-dimensional quantum walks. Afterwards we deal with higher-dimensional quantum walks. For comparison with the case of the quantum walk, we also treat the case of higher-dimensional random walks. Our results bridge between the Mahler measure and the zeta function via quantum walks for the first time.

For a connected graph $G$ of order $n$, let $Diag(Tr)$ be the diagonal matrix of vertex transmissions and $D(G)$ be the distance matrix of $G$. The distance Laplacian matrix of $G$ is defined as $D^L(G)=Diag(Tr)-D(G)$ and the eigenvalues of $D^{L}(G)$ are called the distance Laplacian eigenvalues of $G$. Let $\partial_{1}^{L}(G)\geq \partial_{2}^{L}(G)\geq \dots \geq \partial_{n}^{L}(G)$ be the distance Laplacian eigenvalues of $G$. Given an interval $I$, let $m_{D^{L} (G)} I$ (or simply $m_{D^{L} } I$) be the number of distance Laplacian eigenvalues of $G$ which lie in the interval $I$. For a prescribed interval $I$, we determine $m_{D^{L} }I$ in terms of independence number $α(G)$, chromatic number $χ$, number of pendant vertices and diameter $d$ of the graph $G$. In particular, we prove that $m_{D^{L}(G) }[n,n+2)\leq χ-1$, ~$m_{D^{L}(G) }[n,n+α(G))\leq n-α(G)$ and we show that the inequalities are sharp. We also show that $m_{D^{L} (G )}\bigg( n,n+\left\lceil\frac{n}χ\right\rceil\bigg)\leq n- \left\lceil\frac{n}χ\right\rceil-C_{\overline{G}}+1 $, where $C_{\overline{G}}$ is the number of components in $\overline{G}$, and discuss some cases where the bound is best possible. In addition, we prove that $m_{D^{L} (G )}[n,n+p)\leq n-p$, where $p\geq 1$ is the number of pendant vertices. Also, we characterize graphs of diameter $d\leq 2$ which satisfy $m_{D^{L}(G) } (2n-1,2n )= α(G)-1=\frac{n}{2}-1$. At the end, we propose some problems of interest.
The Ihara expression for generalized weighted zeta functions of Bartholdi type on finite digraphs
The Ihara expression of a weighted zeta function for a general finite digraph is given. It unifies all the Ihara expressions obtained for known zeta functions for finite digraphs. Any digraph in this paper permits multi-edges and multi-loops.

We introduce the edge Schur functions $E^λ$ that are defined as a generating series over edge labeled tableaux. We formulate $E^λ$ as the partition function for a solvable lattice model, which we use to show they are symmetric polynomials and derive a Cauchy-type identity with factorial Schur polynomials. Finally, we give a crystal structure on edge labeled tableau to give a positive Schur polynomial expansion of $E^λ$ and show it intertwines with an uncrowding algorithm.

We study $k$-tilings ($k$-tuples of domino tilings) of the Aztec diamond of rank $m$. We assign a weight to each $k$-tiling, depending on the number of dominos of certain types and the number of "interactions" between the tilings. Employing the colored vertex models introduced in earlier work to study supersymmetric LLT polynomials, we compute the generating polynomials of the $k$-tilings. We then prove some combinatorial results about $k$-tilings, including a bijection between $k$-tilings with no interactions and $1$-tilings, and we compute the arctic curves of the tilings for $t=0$ and $t\rightarrow\infty$. We also present some lozenge $k$-tilings of the hexagon and compute the arctic curves of the tilings for $t=0$.

This paper presents new lower bounds for the lattice covering densities of simplices by studying the Degree-Diameter Problem for abelian Cayley digraphs. In particular, it proves that the density of any lattice covering of a tetrahedron is at least $25/18$ and the density of any lattice covering of a four-dimensional simplex is at least $343/264$.
A note on the width of sparse random graphs

In this note, we consider the width of a supercritical random graph according to some commonly studied width measures. We give short, direct proofs of results of Lee, Lee and Oum, and of Perarnau and Serra, on the rank- and tree-width of the random graph $G(n,p)$ when $p= \frac{1+ε}{n}$ for $ε> 0$ constant. Our proofs avoid the use, as a black box, of a result of Benjamini, Kozma and Wormald on the expansion properties of the giant component in this regime, and so as a further benefit we obtain explicit bounds on the dependence of these results on $ε$. Finally, we also consider the width of the random graph in the weakly supercritical regime, where $ε= o(1)$ and $ε^3n \to \infty$. In this regime, we determine, up to a constant multiplicative factor, the rank- and tree-width of $G(n,p)$ as a function of $n$ and $ε$.

We introduce a $q$-deformation that generalises in a single framework previous works on classical and enriched $P$-partitions. In particular, we build a new family of power series with a parameter $q$ that interpolates between Gessel's fundamental ($q=0$) and Stembridge's peak quasisymmetric functions ($q=1$) and show that it is a basis of $\QSym$ when $q\notin\{-1,1\}$. Furthermore we build their corresponding monomial bases parametrised with $q$ that cover our previous work on enriched monomials and the essential quasisymmetric functions of Hoffman.
Voltage operations on maniplexes

Classical geometric and topological operations on polyhedra, maps and polytopes often give rise to structures with the same symmetry group as the original one, but with more flags. In this paper we introduce the notion of voltage operations on maniplexes, as a way to generalize such operations. Our technique provides a way to study classical operations in a graph theory setting. In fact, voltage operations can be applied to symmetry type graphs, and more generally to n-valent properly n-edge colored graphs. We focus on studying the interactions between voltage operations and the symmetries of the operated object, and show that they can be potentially used to build maniplexes with prescribed symmetry type graphs. Moreover, a complete characterization of when an operation can be seen as a voltage operation is given.

For $G$ a reductive group and $T\subset B$ a maximal torus and Borel subgroup, Demazure modules are certain $B$-submodules, indexed by elements of the Weyl group, of the finite irreducible representations of $G$. In order to describe the $T$-weight spaces that appear in a Demazure module, we study the convex hull of these weights - the Demazure polytope. We characterize these polytopes both by vertices and by inequalities, and we use these results to prove that Demazure characters are saturated, in the case that $G$ is simple of classical Lie type. Specializing to $G=GL_n$, we recover results of Fink, Mészáros, and St. Dizier, and separately Fan and Guo, on key polynomials, originally conjectured by Monical, Tokcan, and Yong.
Deepest nodes in marked ordered trees

A variation of ordered trees, where each rightmost edge might be marked or not, if it does not lead to an endnode, is investigated. These marked ordered trees were introduced by E. Deutsch et al.\ to model skew Dyck paths. We study the number of deepest nodes in such trees. Explicit generating functions are established and the average number of deepest nodes, which approaches $\frac53$ when the number of nodes gets large. This is to be compared to standard ordered trees where the average number of deepest nodes approaches $2$.

We introduce a parametrization of the conjugates of Christoffel words based on the integer Ostrowski numeration system. We use it to give a precise description of the borders (prefixes which are also suffixes) of the conjugates of Christoffel words and to revisit the notion of Sturmian graph introduced by Epifanio et al.
On the preferred extensions of argumentation frameworks: bijections with naive sets

This paper deals with the problem of finding the preferred extensions of an argumentation framework by means of a bijection with the naive sets of another framework. First, we consider the case where an argumentation framework is naive-bijective: its naive sets and preferred extensions are equal. Recognizing naive-bijective argumentation frameworks is hard, but we show that it is tractable for frameworks with bounded in-degree. Next, we give a bijection between the preferred extensions of an argumentation framework being admissible-closed (the intersection of two admissible sets is admissible) and the naive sets of another framework on the same set of arguments. On the other hand, we prove that identifying admissible-closed argumentation frameworks is coNP-complete. At last, we introduce the notion of irreducible self-defending sets as those that are not the union of others. It turns out there exists a bijection between the preferred extensions of an argumentation framework and the naive sets of a framework on its irreducible self-defending sets. Consequently, the preferred extensions of argumentation frameworks with some lattice properties can be listed with polynomial delay and polynomial space.
Exact values for unbalanced Zarankiewicz numbers

For positive integers $s$, $t$, $m$ and $n$, the Zarankiewicz number $Z_{s,t}(m,n)$ is defined to be the maximum number of edges in a bipartite graph with parts of sizes $m$ and $n$ that has no complete biparitite subgraph containing $s$ vertices in the part of size $m$ and $t$ vertices in the part of size $n$. A simple argument shows that, for each $t \geq 2$, $Z_{2,t}(m,n)=(t-1)\binom{m}{2}+n$ when $n \geq (t-1)\binom{m}{2}$. Here, for large $m$, we determine the exact value of $Z_{2,t}(m,n)$ in almost all of the remaining cases where $n=Θ(tm^2)$. We establish a new family of upper bounds on $Z_{2,t}(m,n)$ which complement a family already obtained by Roman. We then prove that the floor of the best of these bounds is almost always achieved. We also show that there are cases in which this floor cannot be achieved and others in which determining whether it is achieved is likely a very hard problem. Our results are proved by viewing the problem through the lens of linear hypergraphs and our constructions make use of existing results on edge decompositions of dense graphs.
Hierarchical decompositions of implicational bases for the enumeration of meet-irreducible elements

We are interested in the problem of translating between two representations of closure systems, namely implicational bases and meet-irreducible elements. Albeit its importance, the problem is open. Motivated by this problem, we introduce splits of an implicational base. It is a partitioning operation of the implications which we apply recursively to obtain a binary tree representing a decomposition of the implicational base. We show that this decomposition can be conducted in polynomial time and space in the size of the input implicational base. In order to use our decomposition for the translation task, we focus on the case of acyclic splits. In this case, we obtain a recursive characterization of the meet-irreducible elements of the associated closure system. We use this characterization and hypergraph dualization to derive new results for the translation problem in acyclic convex geometries.
Improved bounds for randomly colouring simple hypergraphs
We study the problem of sampling almost uniform proper $q$-colourings in $k$-uniform simple hypergraphs with maximum degree $Δ$. For any $δ> 0$, if $k \geq\frac{20(1+δ)}δ$ and $q \geq 100Δ^{\frac{2+δ}{k-4/δ-4}}$, the running time of our algorithm is $\tilde{O}(\mathrm{poly}(Δk)\cdot n^{1.01})$, where $n$ is the number of vertices. Our result requires fewer colours than previous results for general hypergraphs (Jain, Pham, and Voung, 2021; He, Sun, and Wu, 2021), and does not require $Ω(\log n)$ colours unlike the work of Frieze and Anastos (2017).
Polynomial bounds for chromatic number. V. Excluding a tree of radius two and a complete multipartite graph

The Gyárfás-Sumner conjecture says that for every forest $H$ and every integer $k$, if $G$ is $H$-free and does not contain a clique on $k$ vertices then it has bounded chromatic number. (A graph is $H$-free if it does not contain an induced copy of $H$.) Kierstead and Penrice proved it for trees of radius at most two, but otherwise the conjecture is known only for a few simple types of forest. More is known if we exclude a complete bipartite subgraph instead of a clique: Rödl showed that, for every forest $H$, if $G$ is $H$-free and does not contain $K_{t,t}$ as a subgraph then it has bounded chromatic number. In an earlier paper with Sophie Spirkl, we strengthened Rödl's result, showing that for every forest $H$, the bound on chromatic number can be taken to be polynomial in $t$. In this paper, we prove a related strengthening of the Kierstead-Penrice theorem, showing that for every tree $H$ of radius two and every integer $d\ge 2$, if $G$ is $H$-free and does not contain as a subgraph the complete $d$-partite graph with parts of cardinality $t$, then its chromatic number is at most polynomial in $t$.
Edge-coloured graphs with only monochromatic perfect matchings and their connection to quantum physics
Krenn, Gu and Zeilinger initiated the study of PMValid edge-colourings because of its connection to a problem from quantum physics. A graph is defined to have a PMValid $k$-edge-colouring if it admits a $k$-edge-colouring (i.e. an edge colouring with $k$-colours) with the property that all perfect matchings are monochromatic and each of the $k$ colour classes contain at least one perfect matching.
The matching index of a graph $G$, $μ(G)$ is defined as the maximum value of $k$ for which $G$ admits a PMValid $k$-edge-colouring. It is easy to see that $μ(G)\geq 1$ if and only if $G$ has a perfect matching (due to the trivial $1$-edge-colouring which is PMValid). Bogdanov observed that for all graphs non-isomorphic to $K_4$, $μ(G)\leq 2$ and $μ(K_4)=3$. However, the characterisation of graphs for which $μ(G)=1$ and $μ(G)=2$ is not known. In this work, we answer this question. Using this characterisation, we also give a fast algorithm to compute $μ(G)$ of a graph $G$. In view of our work, the structure of PMValid $k$-edge-colourable graphs is now fully understood for all $k$. Our characterisation, also has an implication to the aforementioned quantum physics problem. In particular, it settles a conjecture of Krenn and Gu for a sub-class of graphs.

We consider generalized inversions and descents in finite Weyl groups. We establish Coxeter-theoretic properties of indicator random variables of positive roots such as the covariance of two such indicator random variables. We then compute the variances of generalized inversions and descents in classical types. We finally use the dependency graph method to prove central limit theorems for general antichains in root posets and in particular for generalized descents, and then for generalized inversions.
