Let $G$ be a graph of minimum degree at least $k$ and let $G_p$ be the random subgraph of $G$ obtained by keeping each edge independently with probability $p$. We are interested in the size of the largest complete minor that $G_p$ contains when $p = \frac{1+\varepsilon}{k}$ with $\varepsilon >0$. We show that with high probability $G_p$ contains a complete minor of order $\tildeΩ(\sqrt{k})$, where the $\sim$ hides a polylogarithmic factor. Furthermore, in the case where the order of $G$ is also bounded above by a constant multiple of $k$, we show that this polylogarithmic term can be removed, giving a tight bound.

We prove a uniform bound on the topological Turán number of an arbitrary two-dimensional simplicial complex $S$: any $n$-vertex two-dimensional complex with at least $C_S n^{3-1/5}$ facets contains a homeomorphic copy of $S$, where $C_S > 0$ is an absolute constant depending on $S$ alone. This result, a two-dimensional analogue of a classical result of Mader for one-dimensional complexes, sheds some light on an old problem of Linial from 2006.
Some partition and analytical identities arising from Alladi, Andrews, Gordon bijections

In a work of 1995, Alladi, Andrews, and Gordon provided a generalization of the two Capparelli identities involving certain classes of integer partitions. Inspired by that contribution, in particular as regards the general setting and the tools the authors employed, we obtain new partition identities by identifying further sets of partitions that can be explicitly put into a one-to-one correspondence by the method described in the 1995 paper. As a further result, although of a different nature, we obtain an analytical identity of Rogers-Ramanujan type, involving generating functions, for a class of partition identities already found in that paper and that generalize the first Capparelli identity and include it as a particular case. To achieve this, we apply the same strategy as Kanade and Russel did in a recent paper. This method relies on the use of jagged partitions that can be seen as a more general kind of integer partitions.

Nevanlinna-Herglotz functions play a fundamental role for the study of infinitely divisible distributions in free probability. In the present paper we study the role of the tangent function, which is a fundamental Herglotz-Nevanlinna function and related functions in free probability. To be specific, we show that the function $$ \frac{\tan z}{1-x\tan z} $$ of Carlitz and Scoville describes the limit distribution of sums of free commutators and anticommutators and thus the free cumulants are given by the Euler zigzag numbers.
Approximate Fixed Point Property for Digital Trees and Products
We add to our knowledge of the approximate fixed point property (AFPP) in digital topology. We show that a digital image that is a tree has the AFPP. Given two digital images (X, κ) and (Y, λ) that have the approximate fixed point property, does their Cartesian product have the AFPP? We explore conditions that yield an affirmative answer. A general answer to this question is not known at the current writing.

For a graph $G=(V(G),E(G))$, an Italian dominating function (ID function) of $G$ is a function $f:V(G)\rightarrow \{0,1,2\}$ such that for each vertex $v\in V(G)$ with $f(v)=0$, $f(N(v))\geq2$, that is, either there is a vertex $u \in N(v)$ with $f (u) = 2$ or there are two vertices $x,y\in N(v)$ with $f(x)=f(y)=1$. A function $f:V(G)\rightarrow \{0,1,2\}$ is a covering Italian dominating function (CID function) of $G$ if $f$ is an ID function and $\{v\in V(G)\mid f(v)\neq0\}$ is a vertex cover set. The covering Italian domination number (CID number) $γ_{cI}(G)$ is the minimum weight taken over all CID functions of $G$.
In this paper, we study the CID number in graphs. We show that the problem of computing this parameter is NP-hard even when restricted to some well-known families of graphs, and find some bounds on this parameter. We characterize the family of graphs for which their CID numbers attain the upper bound twice their vertex cover number as well as all claw-free graphs whose CID numbers attain the lower bound half of their orders. We also give the characterizations of some families of graphs with small or large CID numbers.
A Highly Symmetric Hamilton Decomposition for Hypercubes
A Hamilton decomposition of a graph is a partitioning of its edge set into disjoint spanning cycles. The existence of such decompositions is known for all hypercubes of even dimension $2n$. We give a decomposition for the case $n = 2^a3^b$ that is highly symmetric in the sense that every cycle can be derived from every other cycle just by permuting the axes. We conjecture that a similar decomposition exists for every n.
Large induced trees in dense random graphs
Erdős and Palka initiated the study of the maximal size of induced trees in random graphs in 1983. They proved that for every fixed $0<p<1$ the size of a largest induced tree in $G_{n,p}$ is concentrated around $2\log_q (np)$ with high probability, where $q=(1-p)^{-1}$. De la Vega showed concentration around the same value for $p=C/n$ where $C$ is a large constant, and his proof also works for all larger $p$. We show that for any given tree $T$ with bounded maximum degree and of size $(2-o(1))\log_q(np)$, $G_{n,p}$ contains an induced copy of $T$ with high probability for $n^{-1/2}\ln^{10/9}n\leq p\leq 0.99$. This is asymptotically optimal.

We show that a $k$-stable set in a finite group can be approximated, up to given error $ε>0$, by left cosets of a subgroup of index $ε^{\text{-}O_k(1)}$. This improves the bound in a similar result of Terry and Wolf on stable arithmetic regularity in finite abelian groups, and leads to a quantitative account of work of the author, Pillay, and Terry on stable sets in arbitrary finite groups. We also prove an analogous result for finite stable sets of small tripling in arbitrary groups, which provides a quantitative version of recent work by Martin-Pizarro, Palacín, and Wolf. Our proofs use results on VC-dimension, and a finitization of model-theoretic techniques from stable group theory.
Lifting the dual immaculate functions

We introduce two lifts of the dual immaculate quasisymmetric functions to the polynomial ring. We establish positive formulas for expansions of these dual immaculate slide polynomials into the fundamental slide and quasi-key bases for polynomials. These formulas mirror connections between dual immaculate quasisymmetric functions, fundamental quasisymmetric functions, and Young quasisymmetric Schur functions, extending these connections from the ring of quasisymmetric functions to the full polynomial ring. We also consider a reverse variant of the dual immaculate quasisymmetric functions, mirroring the dichotomy between the quasisymmetric Schur functions and the Young quasisymmetric Schur functions. We show this variant is obtained by taking stable limits of one of our lifts, and utilize these reverse dual immaculate quasisymmetric functions to establish a connection between the dual immaculate quasisymmetric functions and the Demazure atom basis for polynomials.

Ehrhart theory measures a polytope P discretely by counting the lattice points inside its dilates P, 2P, 3P, .... We compute the Ehrhart quasipolynomials of the standard Coxeter permutahedra for the classical Coxeter groups, expressing them in terms of the Lambert W function. A central tool is a description of the Ehrhart theory of a rational translate of an integer zonotope.
Symplectic keys and Demazure atoms in type C
We compute, mimicking the Lascoux-Schützenberger type A combinatorial procedure, left and right keys for a Kashiwara-Nakashima tableau in type C. These symplectic keys have a similar role as the keys for semistandard Young tableaux. More precisely, our symplectic keys give a tableau criterion for the Bruhat order on the hyperoctahedral group and cosets, and describe Demazure atoms and characters in type C. The right and the left symplectic keys are related through the Lusztig involution. A type C Schützenberger evacuation is defined to realize that involution.
Macroscopic network circulation for planar graphs

The analysis of networks, aimed at suitably defined functionality, often focuses on partitions into subnetworks that capture desired features. Chief among the relevant concepts is a 2-partition, that underlies the classical Cheeger inequality, and highlights a constriction (bottleneck) that limits accessibility between the respective parts of the network. In a similar spirit, the purpose of the present work is to introduce a new concept of maximal global circulation and to explore 3-partitions that expose this type of macroscopic feature of networks. Herein, graph circulation is motivated by transportation networks and probabilistic flows (Markov chains) on graphs. Our goal is to quantify the large-scale imbalance of network flows and delineate key parts that mediate such global features. While we introduce and propose these notions in a general setting, in this paper, we only work out the case of planar graphs. We explain that a scalar potential can be identified to encapsulate the concept of circulation, quite similarly as in the case of the curl of planar vector fields. Beyond planar graphs, in the general case, the problem to determine global circulation remains at present a combinatorial problem.
Improved bounds for coloring locally sparse hypergraphs
We show that, for every $k \ge 2$, every $k$-uniform hypergaph of degree $Δ$ and girth at least $5$ is efficiently $(1+o(1) )(k-1) (Δ/ \ln Δ)^{ 1/(k-1) } $-list colorable. As an application (and to the best of our knowledge) we obtain the currently best algorithm for list-coloring random hypergraphs of bounded average degree.

Graph polynomials and paintability of plane graphs

There exists a variety of coloring problems for plane graphs, involving vertices, edges, and faces in all possible combinations. For instance, in the \emph{entire coloring} of a plane graph we are to color these three sets so that any pair of adjacent or incident elements get different colors. We study here some problems of this type from algebraic perspective, focusing on the \emph{facial} variant. We obtain several results concerning the \emph{Alon-Tarsi number} of various graphs derived from plane embeddings. This allows for extensions of some previous results for \emph{choosability} of these graphs to the game theoretic variant, know as \emph{paintability}. For instance, we prove that every plane graph is facially entirely \emph{$8$-paintable}, which means (metaphorically) that even a color-blind person can facially color the entire graph form lists of size $8$.
Dilworth's Theorem for Borel Posets
A famous theorem of Dilworth asserts that any finite poset of width $k$ can be decomposed into $k$ chains. We study the following problem: given a Borel poset $P$ of finite width $k$, is it true that it can be decomposed into $k$ Borel chains? We give a positive answer in a special case of Borel posets embeddable into the real line. We also prove a dual theorem for posets whose comparability graphs are locally countable.

The problem of extremizing the distance between different central parts of trees on $n$ vertices with fixed diameter is studied
A new proof of a generalization of Gerzon's bound
In this paper we give a short, new proof of a natural generalization of Gerzon's bound. This bound improves the Delsarte, Goethals and Seidel's upper bound in a special case. Our proof is a simple application of the linear algebra bound method.
