We demonstrate a natural bijection between a subclass of alternating sign matrices (ASMs) defined by a condition on the corresponding monotone triangle which we call the gapless condition and a subclass of totally symmetric self-complementary plane partitions defined by a similar condition on the corresponding fundamental domains or Magog triangles. We prove that, when restricted to permutations, this class of ASMs reduces to 312-avoiding permutations. This leads us to generalize pattern avoidance on permutations to a family of words associated to ASMs, which we call Gog words. We translate the gapless condition on monotone trangles into a pattern avoidance-like condition on Gog words associated. We estimate the number of gapless monotone triangles using a bijection with p-branchings.

A new fusion procedure for the Brauer algebra and evaluation homomorphisms

We give a new fusion procedure for the Brauer algebra by showing that all primitive idempotents can be found by evaluating a rational function in several variables which has the form of a product of R-matrix type factors. In particular, this provides a new fusion procedure for the symmetric group involving an arbitrary parameter. The R-matrices are solutions of the Yang--Baxter equation associated with the classical Lie algebras g_N of types B, C and D. Moreover, we construct an evaluation homomorphism from a reflection equation algebra B(g_N) to U(g_N) and show that the fusion procedure provides an equivalence between natural tensor representations of B(g_N) with the corresponding evaluation modules.
Chromatic statistics for Catalan and Fuß-Catalan numbers

We refine Catalan numbers and Fuß-Catalan numbers by introducing colour statistics for triangulations of polygons and $d$-dimensional generalisations there-of which we call Fuß-Catalan complexes. Our refinements consist in showing that the number of triangulations, respectively Fuß-Catalan complexes, with a given colour distribution of its vertices is given by closed product formulae. The crucial ingredient in the proof is the Lagrange-Good inversion formula.

Using the relationship between totally nonnegative matrices and directed acyclic weighted planar networks, we show that $2\times 2$ minors of minor matrices of totally nonnegative matrices are also nonnegative. We give a combinatorial interpretation for the minors of minor matrices in terms of the weights of families of paths in a network.
The inverse conjecture for the Gowers norm over finite fields in low characteristic

We establish the \emph{inverse conjecture for the Gowers norm over finite fields}, which asserts (roughly speaking) that if a bounded function $f: V \to \C$ on a finite-dimensional vector space $V$ over a finite field $\F$ has large Gowers uniformity norm $\|f\|_{U^{s+1}(V)}$, then there exists a (non-classical) polynomial $P: V \to \T$ of degree at most $s$ such that $f$ correlates with the phase $e(P) = e^{2πi P}$. This conjecture had already been established in the "high characteristic case", when the characteristic of $\F$ is at least as large as $s$. Our proof relies on the weak form of the inverse conjecture established earlier by the authors and Bergelson, together with new results on the structure and equidistribution of non-classical polynomials, in the spirit of the work of Green and the first author and of Kaufman and Lovett.

We show how certain suitably modified N-modular diagrams of integer partitions provide a nice combinatorial interpretation for the general term of Zeilberger's KOH identity. This identity is the reformulation of O'Hara's famous proof of the unimodality of the Gaussian polynomial as a combinatorial identity. In particular, we determine, using different bijections, two main natural classes of modular diagrams of partitions with bounded parts and length, having the KOH terms as their generating functions. One of our results greatly extends recent theorems of J. Quinn et al., which presented striking applications to quantum physics.
Lines induced by bichromatic point sets
An important theorem of Beck says that any point set in the Euclidean plane is either ``nearly general position'' or ``nearly collinear'': there is a constant C>0 such that, given n points in the plane with at most r$ of them collinear, the number of lines induced by the points is at least Cr(n-r).
Recent work of Gutkin-Rams on billiards orbits requires the following elaboration of Beck's Theorem to bichromatic point sets: there is a constant C>0 such that, given n red points and n blue points in the plane with at most r of them collinear, the number of lines spanning at least one point of each color is at least Cr(2n-r).

Let R > S be finite Frobenius rings for which there exists a trace map T from R onto S as left S modules. Let C:= {x -> T(ax + bf(x)) : a,b in R}. Then C is an S-linear subring-subcode of a left linear code over R. We consider functions f for which the homogeneous weight distribution of C can be computed. In particular, we give constructions of codes over integer modular rings and commutative local Frobenius that have small spectra.

We build off the game, NimG to create a version named Neighboring Nim. By reducing from Geography, we show that this game is PSPACE-hard. The games created by the reduction share strong similarities with Undirected (Vertex) Geography and regular Nim, both of which are in P. We show how to construct PSPACE-complete versions with nim heaps *1 and *2. This application of graphs can be used as a form of game sum with any games, not only Nim.
On the Equivalence of Quadratic APN Functions

Establishing the CCZ-equivalence of a pair of APN functions is generally quite difficult. In some cases, when seeking to show that a putative new infinite family of APN functions is CCZ inequivalent to an already known family, we rely on computer calculation for small values of n. In this paper we present a method to prove the inequivalence of quadratic APN functions with the Gold functions. Our main result is that a quadratic function is CCZ-equivalent to an APN Gold function if and only if it is EA-equivalent to that Gold function. As an application of this result, we prove that a trinomial family of APN functions that exist on finite fields of order 2^n where n = 2 mod 4 are CCZ inequivalent to the Gold functions. The proof relies on some knowledge of the automorphism group of a code associated with such a function.
Note on Ward-Horadam H(x) - binomials' recurrences and related interpretations, II
We deliver here second new $\textit{H(x)}-binomials'$ recurrence formula, were $H(x)-binomials' $ array is appointed by $Ward-Horadam$ sequence of functions which in predominantly considered cases where chosen to be polynomials . Secondly, we supply a review of selected related combinatorial interpretations of generalized binomial coefficients. We then propose also a kind of transfer of interpretation of $p,q-binomial $ coefficients onto $q-binomial$ coefficients interpretations thus bringing us back to $Gy{ö}rgy Pólya $ and Donald Ervin Knuth relevant investigation decades ago.
Stasheff polytope as a sublattice of permutohedron
An assosiahedron $\mathcal{K}^n$, known also as Stasheff polytope, is a multifaceted combinatorial object, which, in particular, can be realized as a convex hull of certain points in $\mathbf{R}^{n}$, forming $(n-1)$-dimensional polytope.
A permutahedron $\mathcal{P}^n$ is a polytope of dimension $(n-1)$ in $\mathbf{R}^{n}$ with vertices forming various permutations of $n$-element set. There exist well-known orderings of vertices of $\mathcal{P}^n$ and $\mathcal{K}^n$ that make these objects into lattices: the first known as permutation lattices, and the latter as Tamari lattices. We establish that the vertices of $\mathcal{K}^n$ can be naturally associated with particular vertices of $\mathcal{P}^n$ in such a way that the corresponding lattice operations are preserved. In lattices terms, Tamari lattices are sublattices of permutation lattices. More generally, this defines the application of associative law as a special form of permutation.
Representing finite convex geometries by relatively convex sets

A closure system with the anti-exchange axiom is called a convex geometry. One geometry is called a sub-geometry of the other if its closed sets form a sublattice in the lattice of closed sets of the other. We prove that convex geometries of relatively convex sets in $n$-dimensional vector space and their finite sub-geometries satisfy the $n$-Carousel Rule, which is the strengthening of the $n$-Carath$\acute{e}$odory property. We also find another property, that is similar to the simplex partition property and does not follow from $2$-Carusel Rule, which holds in sub-geometries of $2$-dimensional geometries of relatively convex sets.
The existence of k-radius sequences

Let $n$ and $k$ be positive integers, and let $F$ be an alphabet of size $n$. A sequence over $F$ of length $m$ is a \emph{$k$-radius sequence} if any two distinct elements of $F$ occur within distance $k$ of each other somewhere in the sequence. These sequences were introduced by Jaromczyk and Lonc in 2004, in order to produce an efficient caching strategy when computing certain functions on large data sets such as medical images.
Let $f_k(n)$ be the length of the shortest $n$-ary $k$-radius sequence. The paper shows, using a probabilistic argument, that whenever $k$ is fixed and $n\rightarrow\infty$ \[ f_k(n)\sim \frac{1}{k}\binom{n}{2}. \]
The paper observes that the same argument generalises to the situation when we require the following stronger property for some integer $t$ such that $2\leq t\leq k+1$: any $t$ distinct elements of $F$ must simultaneously occur within a distance $k$ of each other somewhere in the sequence.

In particular, we show that the equivalence relation on simple graphs generated by local complementation can also be generated by an operation defined using inverse matrices.
A uniform bijection between nonnesting and noncrossing partitions

In 2007, D.I. Panyushev defined a remarkable map on the set of nonnesting partitions (antichains in the root poset of a finite Weyl group). In this paper we identify Panyushev's map with the Kreweras complement on the set of noncrossing partitions, and hence construct the first uniform bijection between nonnesting and noncrossing partitions. Unfortunately, the proof that our construction is well-defined is case-by-case, using a computer in the exceptional types. Fortunately, the proof involves new and interesting combinatorics in the classical types. As consequences, we prove several conjectural properties of the Panyushev map, and we prove two cyclic sieving phenomena conjectured by D. Bessis and V. Reiner.

The Turan bound is a famous result in graph theory, which relates the independence number of an undirected graph to its edge density. Also the Caro-Wei inequality, which gives a more refined bound in terms of the vertex degree sequence of a graph, might be regarded today as a classical result. We show how these statements can be generalized to directed graphs, thus yielding a bound on directed feedback vertex number in terms of vertex outdegrees and in terms of average outdegree, respectively.
