A Generalization of a Theorem of Mandel
A theorem of Mandel allows to determine the covector set of an oriented matroid from its set of topes by using the composition condition. We provide a generalization of that result, stating that the covector set of a conditional oriented matroid can also be determined by its set of topes, but by using the face symmetry condition. It permits to represent geometrical configurations in terms of conditional oriented matroids, more suitable for computer calculations. We treat apartments of hyperplane arrangements as example.
A Survey of the Valuation Algebra motivated by a Fundamental Application to Dissection Theory
A lattice $L$ is said lowly finite if the set $[\mathsf{0},a]$ is finite for every element $a$ of $L$. We mainly aim to provide a complete proof that, if $M$ is a subset of a complete lowly finite distributive lattice $L$ containing its join-irreducible elements, and $a$ an element of $M$ which is not join-irreducible, then $\displaystyle \sum_{b \in M \cap [\mathsf{0},a]} μ_M(b,a)b$ belongs to the submodule $\langle a \wedge b + a \vee b - a - b\ |\ a,b \in L \rangle$ of $\mathbb{Z}L$. That property was originally established by Zaslavsky for finite distributive lattice. It is essential to prove the fundamental theorem of dissection theory as will be seen. We finish with a concrete application of that theorem to face counting for submanifold arrangements.

This article computes the Varchenko determinant of dehyperplane arrangements which are generalizations of pseudohyperplane arrangements. But unlike those latter, they are defined on a real manifold, and it is not always possible to obtain a central dehyperplane arrangement by coning. This article also studies the solution space of a linear system defined from a dehyperplane arrangement. That equation system was first introduced by Aguiar and Mahajan for central hyperplane arrangements.
Diagonalization of Fix-Mahonian Matrices
Consider the regular representation of the sum over all permutations weighted by the sum of their descent, inversion, and fixed point multinomials. We compute the spectrum and the multiplicities of its elements of that matrix. Note that those multinomial statistics allow to apply the result on several permutation statistics like the number of fixed points, of descents, of inversions, and the major index at the same time.
The Varchenko Determinant of an Oriented Matroid
Varchenko introduced in 1993 a distance function on the chambers of a hyperplane arrangement that gave rise to a determinant whose entry in position $(C, D)$ is the distance between the chambers $C$ and $D$, and computed that determinant. In 2017, Aguiar and Mahajan provided a generalization of that distance function, and computed the corresponding determinant. This article extends their distance function to the topes of an oriented matroid, and computes the determinant thus defined. Oriented matroids have the nice property to be abstractions of some mathematical structures including hyperplane and sphere arrangements, polytopes, directed graphs, and even chirality in molecular chemistry. Independently and with another method, Hochstättler and Welker also computed in 2019 the same determinant.

Determining the number of pieces after cutting a cake is a classical problem. Roberts (1887) provided an exact solution by computing the number of chambers contained in a plane cut by lines. About 88 years later, Zaslavsky (1975) even computed the f-polynomial of a hyperplane arrangement, and consequently deduced the number of chambers of that latter. Recently, Forge & Zaslavsky (2009) introduced the more general structure of topological hyperplane arrangements. This article computes the f-polynomial of such arrangements when they are transsective, and therefore deduces their number of chambers.

This article computes the Tutte polynomial of the hyperplane arrangements associated to the complex reflection groups. The calculations are based on both formulas of De Concini and Procesi for Tutte polynomial and the normaliser of parabolic subgroups in complex reflection groups determined by Krishnasamy and Taylor.
Random Walk of a Cat in a Building
One usually thinks of a cat moving from one room to another in an apartment as random walk model. Imagine now that it also has the possibility to go from one apartment to another by crossing some corridors. That yields a new probabilistic model for which each corridor connects the entrance rooms of several apartments. This article shows that the determinants of the stochastic and the exponential distance matrices of that model have a nice factorization. Two examples involving indirectly acyclic digraphs and hyperplane arrangements are provided.
A Multiparametric Quon Algebra
The quon algebra is an approach to particle statistics introduced by Greenberg in order to provide a theory in which the Pauli exclusion principle and Bose statistics are violated by a small amount. We generalize these models by introducing a deformation of the quon algebra generated by a collection of operators $\mathtt{a}_i$, $i \in \mathbb{N}^*$ the set of positive integers, on an infinite dimensional module satisfying the $q_{i,j}$-mutator relations $\mathtt{a}_i \mathtt{a}_j^† - q_{i,j}\, \mathtt{a}_j^† \mathtt{a}_i = δ_{i,j}$. The realizability of our model is proved by means of the Aguiar-Mahajan bilinear form on the chambers of hyperplane arrangements. We show that, for suitable values of $q_{i,j}$, the module generated by the particle states obtained by applying combinations of $\mathtt{a}_i$'s and $\mathtt{a}_i^†$'s to a vacuum state $|0\rangle$ is an indefinite Hilbert module. Furthermore, we refind the extended Zagier's conjecture established independently by Meljanac et al. and by Duchamp et al.

Varchenko introduced a distance function on chambers of hyperplane arrangements that he called quantum bilinear form. That gave rise to a determinant indexed by chambers whose entry in position $(C,D)$ is the distance between $C$ and $D$: that is the Varchenko determinant. He showed that that determinant has a nice factorization. Later, Aguiar and Mahajan defined a generalization of the quantum bilinear form, and computed the Varchenko determinant given rise by that generalization for central hyperplane arrangements and their cones. This article takes inspiration from their proof strategy to compute the Varchenko determinant given rise by their distance function for apartment of hyperplane arrangements. Those latter are in fact realizable conditional oriented matroids.
Tutte Polynomial of Ideal Arrangement
The Tutte polynomial is originally a bivariate polynomial enumerating the colorings of a graph and of its dual graph. But it reveals more of the internal structure of the graph like its number of forests, of spanning subgraphs, and of acyclic orientations. In 2007, Ardila extended the notion of Tutte polynomial to the hyperplane arrangements, and computed the Tutte polynomials of the classical root systems for a certain prime power of the first variable. In this article, we compute Tutte polynomials of ideal arrangements. Those arrangements were introduced in 2006 by Sommers and Tymoczko, and are defined for ideals of root systems. For the ideals of the classical root systems, we bring a slight improvement of the finite field method showing that it can applied on any finite field whose cardinality is not a minor of the matrix associated to a hyperplane arrangement. Computing the minor set associated to an ideal of a classical root system permits us particularly to deduce the Tutte polynomials of the classical root systems. For the ideals of the exceptional root systems of type $G_2$, $F_4$, and $E_6$, we use the formula of Crapo.

The quon algebra is an approach to particle statistics in order to provide a theory in which the Pauli exclusion principle and Bose statistics are violated by a small amount. The quons are particles whose annihilation and creation operators obey the quon algebra which interpolates between fermions and bosons. In this paper we generalize these models by introducing a deformation of the quon algebra generated by a collection of operators $a_{i,k}$, $(i,k) \in \mathbb{N}^* \times [m]$, on an infinite dimensional vector space satisfying the deformed $q$-mutator relations $a_{j,l} a_{i,k}^† = q a_{i,k}^† a_{j,l} + q^{β_{-k,l}} δ_{i,j}$. We prove the realizability of our model by showing that, for suitable values of $q$, the vector space generated by the particle states obtained by applying combinations of $a_{i,k}$'s and $a_{i,k}^†$'s to a vacuum state $|0\rangle$ is a Hilbert space. The proof particularly needs the investigation of the new statistic $\mathtt{cinv}$ and representations of the colored permutation group.

The Varchenko determinant is the determinant of a matrix defined from an arrangement of hyperplanes. Varchenko proved that this determinant has a beautiful factorization. It is, however, not possible to use this factorization to compute a Varchenko determinant from a certain level of complexity. Precisely at this point, we provide an explicit formula of this determinant for the hyperplane arrangements associated to the finite Coxeter groups. The intersections of hyperplanes with the chambers of such arrangements have nice properties which play a central role for the calculation of their relating determinants.

The Tutte polynomial is originally a bivariate polynomial which enumerates the colorings of a graph and of its dual graph. Ardila extended in 2007 the definition of the Tutte polynomial on the real hyperplane arrangements. He particularly computed the Tutte polynomials of the hyperplane arrangements associated to the classical Weyl groups. Those associated to the exceptional Weyl groups were computed by De Concini and Procesi one year later. This article has two objectives: On one side, we extend the Tutte polynomial computing to the complex hyperplane arrangements. On the other side, we introduce a wider class of hyperplane arrangements which is that of the symmetric hyperplane arrangements. Computing the Tutte polynomial of a symmetric hyperplane arrangement permits us to deduce the Tutte polynomials of some hyperplane arrangements, particularly of those associated to the imprimitive reflection groups.
Tutte Polynomials of Symmetric Hyperplane Arrangements
Originally in 1954 the Tutte polynomial was a bivariate polynomial associated to a graph in order to enumerate the colorings of this graph and of its dual graph at the same time. However the Tutte polynomial reveals more of the internal structure of a graph, and contains even other specializations from other sciences like the Jones polynomial in Knot theory, the partition function of the Pott model in statistical physics, and the reliability polynomial in network theory. In this article, we study the Tutte polynomial associated to more general objects which are the arrangements of hyperplanes. Indeed determining the Tutte polynomial of a graph is equivalent to determining the Tutte polynomial of a special hyperplane arrangement called graphic arrangement. In 2007 Ardila computed the Tutte polynomials of the hyperplane arrangements associated to the classical Weyl groups, and the characteristic polynomials of the Catalan arrangements. The charateristic polynomial is also a specialization of the Tutte polynomial. In 2012 Seo computed the characteristic polynomials of the Shi threshold arrangements, and in 2017 Song computed the characteristic polynomials of the $\mathcal{I}_n$ arrangements in the plane and in the space. We aim to bring a more general result by introducing a wider class of hyperplane arrangements which is the set of symmetric hyperplane arrangements. We compute the Tutte polynomial of a symmetric hyperplane arrangement, and, as examples of application, we deduce the Tutte polynomials of the Catalan, the Shi threshold, and the $\mathcal{I}_n$ arrangements.
The Statistic $\mathtt{pinv}$ for Number System
The number of inversions is a statistic on permutation groups measuring the degree to which the entries of a permutation are out of order. We provide a generalization of that statistic by introducing the statistic number of pseudoinversions on the colored permutation groups. The main motivation to investigate that statistic is the possibility to use it to define a number system and a numeral system on the colored permutation groups. By means of the statistic number of $i$-pseudoinversions, we construct our number system, and a bijection between the set of positive integers and the colored permutation groups.

The descent algebra of finite Coxeter groups is studied by many famous mathematicians like Bergeron, Brown, Howlett, or Reutenauer. Blessenohl, Hohlweg, and Schocker, for example, proved a symmetry property of the descent algebra, when it is linked to the representation theory of its Coxeter group. The interest is particularly showed for the descent algebra of symmetric group. Thibon determined the eigenvalues and their multiplicities of the action on the group algebra of symmetric group of the descent algebra element, which is the sum over all permutations weighted by q^maj. And even the author diagonalized the matrix of the action of the descent algebra element, which is the sum over all permutations weighted by the new introduced statistic desX. In this article, we give a more general result by determining the eigenvalues and their multiplicities of the action on the group algebra of finite Coxeter group of an element of its descent algebra.
Diagonalization of the Matrices of the Multinomial Descent and Multinomial Inversion Statistics on the Symmetric Group
In the work of Varchenko, Zagier, Thibon, and Reiner, Saliola, Welker, linear algebraic properties of the multiplication map on the group algebra of the group algebra element are studied, which is the sum over all permutations weighted by q^{inv}, q^{maj}, inv. Here q is a variable, and inv and maj are the classical statistics inversion and major index. We define a multinomial descent statistic des_X and a multinomial inversion statistic inv_X. These new defined statistics are the multinomial expressions of the classical statistics descent des and inversion. We determine the spectrum and the multiplicity of each element of the spectrum of the analogously defined multiplication map on the group algebra for both des_X and inv_X. As corollaries we deduce the spectrum and the multiplicity of each element of the spectrum of the defined multiplication map on the group algebra for the statistics des, maj and inv.
