Nuancing the unicity of $q$-rationals
We prove unicity of $q$-rational numbers up to conjugacy, using character varieties. Despite the unicity, we exhibit a two-parameter family of deformations of rationals with a modular symmetry. We prove that there are exactly two deformations which deliver the usual $q$-integers: the original $q$-rationals defined by Morier-Genoud and Ovsienko, and another new one. Although the new family can be obtained by conjugacy from the old one, new positivity properties appear. In addition, this new family provides a direct computation of the Jones polynomial of rational knots.
New formulas for the Jones polynomial of a rational link
We derive new formulas for the Jones polynomial and the Kauffman bracket polynomial of a rational link represented by a standard diagram that is not necessarily alternating. These formulas generalize the results of Qazaqzeh, Yasein, and Abu-Qamar for the Tutte polynomial of the Tait graph of an alternating diagram of a rational link, as well as the matrix formulas of Lawrence and Rosenstein for the Jones polynomial of a rational link. Our approach uses the colored version of Brylawski's tensor product formula for Tutte polynomials of colored graphs, due to Diao, Hetyei, and Hinson. Furthermore, generalizing the formulas of Qazaqzeh, Yasein, and Abu-Qamar, we present a finite automaton that computes the crossing signs, thereby enabling the calculation of the writhe of a standard diagram of a rational link.
Finiteness of specializations of the $q$-deformed modular group at roots of unity
Recently, Morier-Genoud and Ovsienko introduced the $q$-deformed modular group.
For construction, they first gave a group $G_q \subset \operatorname{GL}(2, {\mathbb Z}[q^{\pm}])$ and then set $\operatorname{PSL}_q(2,{\mathbb Z}):=G_q/Z(G_q)$. We show that for $ζ\in {\mathbb C}^*$, $\operatorname{PSL}_q(2,{\mathbb Z})|_{q=ζ}$ is finite, if and only if so is $G_q(ζ):=G_q|_{q=ζ} \subset \operatorname{GL}(2,{\mathbb C})$, if and only if $ζ=ζ_n$ for $n=2,3,4,5$, where $ζ_n$ is a primitive $n$-th root of unity. Moreover, $G_q(ζ_n) \cap \operatorname{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})$ is isomorphic to the binary tetrahedral group (resp. the binary icosahedral group), if $n=3,4$ (resp. $n=5$). When $n=6$, the groups are infinite, but still "mild". We also give several applications (e.g., the special values of the normalized Jones polynomials of rational links).
On computational complexity of Khovanov homology
Computing the Jones polynomial of general link diagrams is known to be $\#$P-hard, while restricting the computation to braid closures on fixed number of strands allows for a polynomial time algorithm. We investigate polynomial time algorithms for Khovanov homology of braids and show that for $3$-braids there is one. In contrast, we show that Bar-Natan's scanning algorithm runs in exponential time when restricted to simple classes of $3$-braids. For more general braids, we obtain that a variation of the scanning algorithm computes the Khovanov homology for a bounded set of homological degrees in polynomial time. We also prove upper and lower bounds on the ranks of Khovanov homology groups.
A quantum N-dimer model
We study a quantum version of the $n$-dimer model from statistical mechanics, based on the formalism from quantum topology developed by Reshetikhin and Turaev (the latter which, in particular, can be used to construct the Jones polynomial of a knot in $\mathbb{R}^3$). We apply this machinery to construct an isotopy invariant polynomial for knotted bipartite ribbon graphs in $\mathbb{R}^3$, giving, in the planar setting, a quantum $n$-dimer partition function. As one application, we compute the expected number of loops in the (classical) double dimer model for planar bipartite graphs.
The clock theorem for knotoids and linkoids
In this paper, we generalize the \textit{Clock Theorem} of Formal Knot Theory to knotoids in $S^2$. The clock theorem implies that clock states of a knotoid diagram form a lattice under transpositions. These states form the basis of many invariants of knotoids and linkoids including the Alexander polynomial, Mock Alexander polynomial and the Jones polynomial.
A spanning tree model for chromatic homology
After the discovery of Khovanov homology, which categorifies the Jones polynomial, an analogous categorification of the chromatic polynomial, known as chromatic homology, was introduced. Its graded Euler characteristic recovers the chromatic polynomial. In this paper, we present a spanning tree model for the chromatic complex, i.e., we describe a chain complex generated by certain spanning trees of the graph that is chain homotopy equivalent to the chromatic complex. We employ the spanning tree model over $\mathcal{A}_m:= \frac{\mathbb{Z}[x]}{<x^m>}$ algebra to answer two open questions. First, we establish the conjecture posed by Sazdanovic and Scofield regarding the homological span of chromatic homology over $\\mathcal{A}_m$ algebra, demonstrating that for any graph $G$ with $v$ vertices and $b$ blocks, the homological span is $v - b$. Additionally, we prove a conjecture of Helme-Guizon, Przytycki, and Rong concerning the existence of torsion of order dividing $m$ in chromatic homology over $\mathcal{A}_m$ algebra.
Transposes in the $q$-deformed modular group and their applications to $q$-deformed rational numbers
The (right) $q$-deformed rational numbers was introduced by Morier-Genoud and Ovsienko, and its left variant, whose numerators and denominators are essentially the normalized Jones polynomials of rational links, by Bapat, Becker and Licata. These notions are based on continued fractions and the $q$-deformed modular group $\operatorname{PSL}_q(2,\mathbb{Z})$-actions. In this paper, we introduce the \textit{$q$-transpose} for matrices in $\operatorname{PSL}_q(2,\mathbb{Z})$ to refine the basic perspective of the theory. For example, we present a new proof and a refinement of a theorem of Leclere and Morier-Genoud stating that the trace of $A \in \operatorname{PSL}(2,\mathbb{Z})$ is always palindromic and sign coherent. We also show arithmetic/combinatorial results on left $q$-deformed rationals (e.g., the criterion for their palindromicity). Finally, we discuss the connection to the conjecture of Kantarcı Oğuz on circular fence posets.
A determinant formula of the Jones polynomial for a family of braids
In 2012, Cohen, Dasbach, and Russell presented an algorithm to construct a weighted adjacency matrix for a given knot diagram. In the case of pretzel knots, it is shown that after evaluation, the determinant of the matrix recovers the Jones polynomial. Although the Jones polynomial is known to be #P-hard by Jaeger, Vertigan, and Welsh, this presents a class of knots for which the Jones polynomial can be computed in polynomial time by using the determinant. In this paper, we extend these results by recovering the Jones polynomial as the determinant of a weighted adjacency matrix for certain subfamilies of the braid group. Lastly, we compute the Kauffman polynomial of (2,q) torus knots in polynomial time using the balanced overlaid Tait graphs. This is the first known example of generalizing the methodology of Cohen to a class of quantum invariants which cannot be derived from the HOMFLYPT polynomial.
Duality for the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system
The $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system, corresponding to the colored Jones polynomial of knots, is one of the the simplest weight system for chord diagrams. Recent works have led to explicit computations of this weight system on chord diagrams with complete and complete bipartite intersection graphs using $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight systems on shares, i.e., on chord diagrams on two strands.
In this paper, we continue our study of shares. We prove a conjecture by Lando about a duality of values of the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system on chord diagrams whose intersection graphs are joins of complementary graphs with discrete ones. To achieve this, we introduce the two-colored intersection graph of shares, define the inner product of shares, and use chord-adding operators.
Arithmetic on $q$-deformed rational numbers
Recently, Morier-Genoud and Ovsienko introduced a $q$-deformation of rational numbers. More precisely, for an irreducible fraction $\frac{r}s>0$, they constructed coprime polynomials $\mathcal{R}_{\frac{r}s}(q),~ \mathcal{S}_{\frac{r}s}(q) \in {\mathbb Z}[q]$ with $\mathcal{R}_{\frac{r}s}(1)=r,~\mathcal{S}_{\frac{r}s}(1)=s$. Their theory has a rich background and many applications. By definition, if $r \equiv r' \pmod{s}$, then $\mathcal{S}_{\frac{r}s}(q)=\mathcal{S}_{\frac{r'}s}(q)$. We show that $rr'{\equiv} -1 \pmod{s}$ implies $\mathcal{S}_{\frac{r}s}(q)=\mathcal{S}_{\frac{r'}s}(q)$, and it is conjectured that the converse holds if $s$ is prime (and $r \not \equiv r' \pmod{s}$). We also show that $s$ is a multiple of 3 (resp. 4) if and only if $\mathcal{S}_{\frac{r}s}(ζ)=0$ for $ζ=(-1+\sqrt{-3})/2$ (resp. $ζ=i$). We give applications to the representation theory of quivers of type $A$ and the Jones polynomials of rational links.
Topological model for q-deformed rational number and categorification
Let $\mathbf{D}_{3}$ be a bigraded 3-decorated disk with an arc system $\mathbf{A}$. We associate a bigraded simple closed arc $\widehatη_{\frac{r}{s}}$ on $\mathbf{D}_{3}$ to any rational number $\frac{r}{s}\in\overline{\mathbb{Q}}=\mathbb{Q}\cup\{\infty\}$. We show that the right (resp. left) $q$-deformed rational numbers associated to $\frac{r}{s}$, in the sense of Morier-Genoud-Ovsienko (resp. Bapat-Becker-Licata) can be naturally calculated by the $\mathfrak{q}$-intersection between $\widehatη_{\frac{r}{s}}$ and $\mathbf{A}$ (resp. dual arc system $\mathbf{A}^*$). The Jones polynomials of rational knots can be also given by such intersections. Moreover, the categorification of $\widehatη_{\frac{r}{s}}$ is given by the spherical object $X_{\frac{r}{s}}$ in the Calabi-Yau-$\mathbb{X}$ category of Ginzburg dga of type $A_2$. Reduce to CY-2 case, we recover result of Bapat-Becker-Licata with a slight improvement.
Alexander and Jones Polynomials of weaving 3-braid links and Whitney rank polynomials of Lucas lattice
We establish a relationship between the Jones polynomial of generalized weaving knots of type $W(3,n,m)$ and the Chebyshev polynomial of the first kind. Consequently, we prove that the coefficients of the Jones polynomial of weaving knots are basically the Whitney numbers of Lucas lattices. Furthermore, we give an explicit formula for the Alexander polynomial of weaving knots $W(3,n)$ and we prove that it satisfies Fox's trapezoidal conjecture.
A splitting property of the chromatic homology of the complete graph
Khovanov introduced a bigraded cohomology theory of links whose graded Euler characteristic is the Jones polynomial. The theory was subsequently applied to the chromatic polynomial of graph, resulting in a categorification known as the ``chromatic homology''. Much as in the Khovanov homology, the chromatic polynomial can be obtained by taking the Euler characteristic of the chromatic homology. In the present paper, we introduce a combinatorial description of enhanced states that can be applied to analysis of the homology in an explicit way by hand. Using the new combinatorial description, we show a splitting property of the chromatic homology for a certain class of graphs. Finally, as an application of the description, we compute the chromatic homology of the complete graph.
On $q$-deformed Farey sum and a homological interpretation of $q$-deformed real quadratic irrational numbers
The left and right $q$-deformed rational numbers were introduced by Bapat, Becker and Licata via regular continued fractions, and they gave a homological interpretation for left and right $q$-deformed rational numbers. In the present paper, we focus on negative continued fractions and defined left $q$-deformed negative continued fractions. We give a formula for computing the $q$-deformed Farey sum of the left $q$-deformed rational numbers based on it. We use this formula to give a combinatorial proof of the relationship between the left $q$-deformed rational number and the Jones polynomial of the corresponding rational knot which was proved by Bapat, Becker and Licata using a homological technique. Finally, we combine their work and the $q$-deformed Farey sum, and give a homological interpretation of the $q$-deformed Farey sum. We also give an approach to finding a relationship between real quadratic irrational numbers and homological algebra.

The discovery of polynomial invariants of knots and links, ignited by V. F. R. Jones, leads to the formulation of polynomial invariants of spatial graphs. The Yamada polynomial, one of such invariants, is frequently utilized for practical distinguishment of spatial graphs. Especially for $θ$-curves, the polynomial is an ambient isotopy invariant after a normalization. On the other hand, to each $θ$-curve, a 3-component link can be associated as an ambient isotopy invariant. The benefit of associated links is that invariants of links can be utilized as invariants of $θ$-curves.
In this paper we investigate the relation between the normalized Yamada polynomial of $θ$-curves and the Jones polynomial of their associated links, and show that the two polynomials are equivalent for brunnian $θ$-curves as a corollary. For our purpose the Jaeger polynomial of spatial graphs is observed, a specialization of which is equivalent to the Yamada polynomial.

We prove asymptotics and study sign patterns for coefficients in expansions of elements in the Habiro ring which satisfy a strange identity. As an application, we prove asymptotics and discuss positivity for the generalized Fishburn numbers which arise from the Kontsevich-Zagier series associated to the colored Jones polynomial for a family of torus knots. This extends Zagier's result on asymptotics for the Fishburn numbers.

A weight system is a function on chord diagrams that satisfies the so-called four-term relations. Vassiliev's theory of finite-order knot invariants describes these invariants in terms of weight systems. In particular, there is a weight system corresponding to the colored Jones polynomial. This weight system can be easily defined in terms of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}_2$, but this definition is too cumbersome from the computational point of view, so that the values of this weight system are known only for some limited classes of chord diagrams.
In the present paper we give a formula for the values of the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system for a class of chord diagrams whose intersection graphs are complete bipartite graphs with no more than three vertices in one of the parts.
Our main computational tool is the Chmutov--Varchenko reccurence relation. Furthermore, complete bipartite graphs with no more than three vertices in one of the parts generate Hopf subalgebras of the Hopf algebra of graphs, and we deduce formulas for the projection onto the subspace of primitive elements along the subspace of decomposable elements in these subalgebras. We compute the values of the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system for the projections of chord diagrams with such intersection graphs. Our results confirm certain conjectures due to S.K.Lando on the values of the weight system $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ at the projections of chord diagrams on the space of primitive elements.

A major problem in knot theory is to decide whether the Jones polynomial detects the unknot. In this paper we study a weaker related problem, namely whether the Jones polynomial reduced modulo an integer $n$ detects the unknot. The answer is known to be negative for $n=2^k$ with $k\geq 1$ and $n=3$. Here we show that if the answer is negative for some $n$, then it is negative for $n^k$ with any $k\geq 1$. In particular, for any $k\geq 1$, we construct nontrivial knots whose Jones polynomial is trivial modulo~$3^k$.

Webs are planar graphs with boundary that describe morphisms in a diagrammatic representation category for $\mathfrak{sl}_k$. They are studied extensively by knot theorists because braiding maps provide a categorical way to express link diagrams in terms of webs, producing quantum invariants like the well-known Jones polynomial. One important question in representation theory is to identify the relationships between different bases; coefficients in the change-of-basis matrix often describe combinatorial, algebraic, or geometric quantities (like, e.g., Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials). By "flattening" the braiding maps, webs can also be viewed as the basis elements of a symmetric-group representation.
In this paper, we define two new combinatorial structures for webs: band diagrams and their one-dimensional projections, shadows, that measure depths of regions inside the web. As an application, we resolve an open conjecture that the change-of-basis between the so-called Specht basis and web basis of this symmetric-group representation is unitriangular for $\mathfrak{sl}_3$-webs. We do this using band diagrams and shadows to construct a new partial order on webs that is a refinement of the usual partial order. In fact, we prove that for $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-webs, our new partial order coincides with the tableau partial order on webs studied by the authors and others. We also prove that though the new partial order for $\mathfrak{sl}_3$-webs is a refinement of the previously-studied tableau order, the two partial orders do not agree for $\mathfrak{sl}_3$.
