Duality for the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system
The $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system, corresponding to the colored Jones polynomial of knots, is one of the the simplest weight system for chord diagrams. Recent works have led to explicit computations of this weight system on chord diagrams with complete and complete bipartite intersection graphs using $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight systems on shares, i.e., on chord diagrams on two strands.
In this paper, we continue our study of shares. We prove a conjecture by Lando about a duality of values of the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system on chord diagrams whose intersection graphs are joins of complementary graphs with discrete ones. To achieve this, we introduce the two-colored intersection graph of shares, define the inner product of shares, and use chord-adding operators.

We prove asymptotics and study sign patterns for coefficients in expansions of elements in the Habiro ring which satisfy a strange identity. As an application, we prove asymptotics and discuss positivity for the generalized Fishburn numbers which arise from the Kontsevich-Zagier series associated to the colored Jones polynomial for a family of torus knots. This extends Zagier's result on asymptotics for the Fishburn numbers.

A weight system is a function on chord diagrams that satisfies the so-called four-term relations. Vassiliev's theory of finite-order knot invariants describes these invariants in terms of weight systems. In particular, there is a weight system corresponding to the colored Jones polynomial. This weight system can be easily defined in terms of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}_2$, but this definition is too cumbersome from the computational point of view, so that the values of this weight system are known only for some limited classes of chord diagrams.
In the present paper we give a formula for the values of the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system for a class of chord diagrams whose intersection graphs are complete bipartite graphs with no more than three vertices in one of the parts.
Our main computational tool is the Chmutov--Varchenko reccurence relation. Furthermore, complete bipartite graphs with no more than three vertices in one of the parts generate Hopf subalgebras of the Hopf algebra of graphs, and we deduce formulas for the projection onto the subspace of primitive elements along the subspace of decomposable elements in these subalgebras. We compute the values of the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system for the projections of chord diagrams with such intersection graphs. Our results confirm certain conjectures due to S.K.Lando on the values of the weight system $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ at the projections of chord diagrams on the space of primitive elements.

Let $K_{(m,p)}$ denote the family of double twist knots where $2m-1$ and $2p$ are non-zero integers denoting the number of half-twists in each region. Using a result of Takata, we prove a formula for the colored Jones polynomial of $K_{(-m,-p)}$ and $K_{(-m,p)}$. The latter case leads to new families of $q$-hypergeometric series generalizing the Kontsevich-Zagier series. We also use Bailey pairs and formulas of Walsh to find cyclotomic-like expansions for the colored Jones polynomials of $K_{(m,p)}$ and $K_{(m,-p)}$.

Using a result of Takata, we prove a formula for the colored Jones polynomial of the double twist knots $K_{(-m,-p)}$ and $K_{(-m,p)}$ where $m$ and $p$ are positive integers. In the $(-m,-p)$ case, this leads to new families of $q$-hypergeometric series generalizing the Kontsevich-Zagier series. Comparing with the cyclotomic expansion of the colored Jones polynomials of $K_{(m,p)}$ gives a generalization of a duality at roots of unity between the Kontsevich-Zagier function and the generating function for strongly unimodal sequences.

The colored Jones polynomial is a $q$-polynomial invariant of links colored by irreducible representations of a simple Lie algebra. A $q$-series called a tail is obtained as the limit of the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ colored Jones polynomials $\{J_n(K;q)\}_n$ for some link $K$, for example, an alternating link. For the $\mathfrak{sl}_3$ colored Jones polynomials, the existence of a tail is unknown. We give two explicit formulas of the tail of the $\mathfrak{sl}_3$ colored Jones polynomials colored by $(n,0)$ for the $(2,2m)$-torus link. These two expressions of the tail provide an identity of $q$-series. This is a knot-theoretical generalization of the Andrews-Gordon identities for the Ramanujan false theta function.

We extend the table of Garoufalidis, Le and Zagier concerning conjectural Rogers-Ramanujan type identities for tails of colored Jones polynomials to all alternating knots up to 10 crossings. We then prove these new identities using q-series techniques.
Pretzel Knots and q-Series
The tail of the colored Jones polynomial of an alternating link is a $q$-series invariant whose first $n$ terms coincide with the first $n$ terms of the $n$-th colored Jones polynomial. Recently, it has been shown that the tail of the colored Jones polynomial of torus knots give rise to Ramanujan type identities. In this paper, we study $q$-series identities coming from the colored Jones polynomial of pretzel knots. We prove a false theta function identity that goes back to Ramanujan and we give a natural generalization of this identity using the tail of the colored Jones polynomial of Pretzel knots. Furthermore, we compute the tail for an infinite family of Pretzel knots and relate it to false theta function-type identities.

We show that the volumes of certain hyperbolic A-adequate links can be bounded (above and) below in terms of two diagrammatic quantities: the twist number and the number of certain alternating tangles in an A-adequate diagram. We then restrict our attention to plat closures of certain braids, a rich family of links whose volumes can be bounded in terms of the twist number alone. Furthermore, in the absence of special tangles, our volume bounds can be expressed in terms of a single stable coefficient of the colored Jones polynomial. Consequently, we are able to provide a new collection of links that satisfy a Coarse Volume Conjecture.
A quantum combinatorial approach for computing a tetrahedral network of Jones-Wenzl projectors
Trivalent plane graphs are used in various areas of mathematics which relate for instance to the colored Jones polynomial, invariants of 3-manifolds and quantum computation. Their evaluation is based on computations in the Temperley-Lieb algebra and more specifically the Jones-Wenzl projectors. We use the work by Kauffman-Lins to present a quantum combinatorial approach for evaluating a tetrahedral net. On the way we recover two equivalent definitions for the unsigned Stirling numbers of the first kind and we provide an equality for the quantized factorial using these numbers.

We study a certain skein element in the relative Kauffman bracket skein module of the disk with some marked points, and expand this element in terms linearly independent elements of this module. This expansion is used to compute and study the head and the tail of the colored Jones polynomial and in particular we give a simple $q-$series for the tail of the knot $8_5$. Furthermore, we use this expansion to obtain an easy determination of the theta coefficients.

Our goal is to compute the minimal-order recurrence of the colored Jones polynomial of the 7_4 knot, as well as for the first four double twist knots. As a corollary, we verify the AJ Conjecture for the simplest knot 7_4 with reducible non-abelian SL(2,C) character variety. To achieve our goal, we use symbolic summation techniques of Zeilberger's holonomic systems approach and an irreducibility criterion for q-difference operators. For the latter we use an improved version of the qHyper algorithm of Abramov-Paule-Petkovsek to show that a given q-difference operator has no linear right factors. En route, we introduce exterior power Adams operations on the ring of bivariate polynomials and on the corresponding affine curves.

A sequence $f_n(q)$ is $q$-holonomic if it satisfies a nontrivial linear recurrence with coefficients polynomials in $q$ and $q^n$. Our main theorems state that $q$-holonomicity is preserved under twisting, i.e., replacing $q$ by $ωq$ where $ω$ is a complex root of unity, and under the substitution $q \to q^α$ where $α$ is a rational number. Our proofs are constructive, work in the multivariate setting of $\partial$-finite sequences and are implemented in the Mathematica package HolonomicFunctions. Our results are illustrated by twisting natural $q$-holonomic sequences which appear in quantum topology, namely the colored Jones polynomial of pretzel knots and twist knots. The recurrence of the twisted colored Jones polynomial can be used to compute the asymptotics of the Kashaev invariant of a knot at an arbitrary complex root of unity.
Rogers-Ramanujan type identities and the head and tail of the colored Jones polynomial
We study the head and tail of the colored Jones polynomial while focusing mainly on alternating links. Various ways to compute the colored Jones polynomial for a given link give rise to combinatorial identities for those power series. We further show that the head and tail functions only depend on the reduced checkerboard graphs of the knot diagram. Moreover the class of head and tail functions of prime alternating links forms a monoid.

We study q-holonomic sequences that arise as the colored Jones polynomial of knots in 3-space. The minimal-order recurrence for such a sequence is called the (non-commutative) A-polynomial of a knot. Using the "method of guessing", we obtain this polynomial explicitly for the K_p = (-2, 3, 3+2p) pretzel knots for p = -5, ..., 5. This is a particularly interesting family since the pairs (K_p, -K_{-p}) are geometrically similar (in particular, scissors congruent) with similar character varieties. Our computation of the non-commutative A-polynomial (a) complements the computation of the A-polynomial of the pretzel knots done by the first author and Mattman, (b) supports the AJ Conjecture for knots with reducible A-polynomial and (c) numerically computes the Kashaev invariant of pretzel knots in linear time. In a later publication, we will use the numerical computation of the Kashaev invariant to numerically verify the Volume Conjecture for the above mentioned pretzel knots.

The SL_3 colored Jones polynomial of the trefoil knot is a $q$-holonomic sequence of two variables with natural origin, namely quantum topology. The paper presents an explicit set of generators for the annihilator ideal of this $q$-holonomic sequence as a case study. On the one hand, our results are new and useful to quantum topology: this is the first example of a rank 2 Lie algebra computation concerning the colored Jones polynomial of a knot. On the other hand, this work illustrates the applicability and computational power of the employed computer algebra methods.
Spectral sequences of colored Jones polynomials, colored Rasmussen invariants and nanophrases
We introduce three spectral sequences which give some expressions of colored Jones polynomials. Each spectral sequence contains a Khovanov-type homology groups. Two of them are derived from a bicomplex of the colored Jones polynomial. The other is the spectral sequence that deduces a colored Rasmussen invariant of links. We also introduce three functors between categories of nanophrases, generalizations of links, and obtain their applications using colored Jones polynomials and their categorifications.

The purpose of the paper is two-fold: to introduce a multivariable creative telescoping method, and to apply it in a problem of Quantum Topology: namely the computation of the non-commutative $A$-polynomial of twist knots.
Our multivariable creative telescoping method allows us to compute linear recursions for sums of the form $J(n)=\sum_k c(n,k) \hatJ (k)$ given a recursion relation for $(\hatJ(n))$ a the hypergeometric kernel $c(n,k)$. As an application of our method, we explicitly compute the non-commutative $A$-polynomial for twist knots with -8 and 11 crossings. The non-commutative $A$-polynomial of a knot encodes the monic, linear, minimal order $q$-difference equation satisfied by the sequence of colored Jones polynomials of the knot. Its specialization to $q=1$ is conjectured to be the better-known $A$-polynomial of a knot, which encodes important information about the geometry and topology of the knot complement. Unlike the case of the Jones polynomial, which is easily computable for knots with 50 crossings, the $A$-polynomial is harder to compute and already unknown for some knots with 12 crossings.
