A note on the maximum ratio between chromatic number and clique number
Let $f(n)$ be the maximum, over all graphs $G$ on $n$ vertices, of the ratio $\frac{χ(G)}{ω(G)}$, where $χ(G)$ denotes the chromatic number of $G$ and $ω(G)$ the clique number of $G$. In 1967, Erdős showed that \[ \Big( \frac{1}{4} +o(1) \Big) \frac{n}{(\log_2 n)^2} \le f(n) \le \big( 4+o(1) \big) \frac{n}{(\log_2 n)^2} .\] We show that \[ f(n) \le \big(c+o(1)\big) \frac{n}{(\log_2 n)^2}\] for some $c<3.72$. This follows from recent improvements in the asymptotics of Ramsey numbers and is the first improvement in the asymptotics of $f(n)$ established by Erdős.
On the Turánability and tileability of oriented graphs
An oriented graph $H$ is Turánable (resp. tileable) if there exist $n_0 \in \mathbb{N}$ such that every regular tournament on $n \ge n_0$ vertices contains a copy of $H$ (resp. a perfect $H$-tiling). We disprove a conjectured characterization of Turánable oriented graphs by DeBiasio, Han, Lo, Molla, Piga, and Treglown, show that there are Turánable oriented graphs which are not tileable, and provide a new example of tileable oriented graph.
On the off-diagonal unordered Erdős-Rado numbers
Erdős and Rado [P. Erdős, R. Rado, A combinatorial theorem, Journal of the London Mathematical Society 25 (4) (1950) 249-255] introduced the Canonical Ramsey numbers $\text{er}(t)$ as the minimum number $n$ such that every edge-coloring of the ordered complete graph $K_n$ contains either a monochromatic, rainbow, upper lexical, or lower lexical clique of order $t$. Richer [D. Richer, Unordered canonical Ramsey numbers, Journal of Combinatorial Theory Series B 80 (2000) 172-177] introduced the unordered asymmetric version of the Canonical Ramsey numbers $\text{CR}(s,r)$ as the minimum $n$ such that every edge-coloring of the (unorderd) complete graph $K_n$ contains either a rainbow clique of order $r$, or an orderable clique of order $s$.
We show that $\text{CR}(s,r) = O(r^3/\log r)^{s-2}$, which, up to the multiplicative constant, matches the known lower bound and improves the previously best known bound $\text{CR}(s,r) = O(r^3/\log r)^{s-1}$ by Jiang [T. Jiang, Canonical Ramsey numbers and proporly colored cycles, Discrete Mathematics 309 (2009) 4247-4252]. We also obtain bounds on the further variant $\text{ER}(m,\ell,r)$, defined as the minimum $n$ such that every edge-coloring of the (unorderd) complete graph $K_n$ contains either a monochromatic $K_m$, lexical $K_\ell$, or rainbow $K_r$.
Tiling edge-ordered graphs with monotone paths and other structures
Given graphs $F$ and $G$, a perfect $F$-tiling in $G$ is a collection of vertex-disjoint copies of $F$ in $G$ that together cover all the vertices in $G$. The study of the minimum degree threshold forcing a perfect $F$-tiling in a graph $G$ has a long history, culminating in the Kühn--Osthus theorem [Combinatorica 2009] which resolves this problem, up to an additive constant, for all graphs $F$. In this paper we initiate the study of the analogous question for edge-ordered graphs. In particular, we characterize for which edge-ordered graphs $F$ this problem is well-defined. We also apply the absorbing method to asymptotically determine the minimum degree threshold for forcing a perfect $P$-tiling in an edge-ordered graph, where $P$ is any fixed monotone path.
Triangle Percolation on the Grid
We consider a geometric percolation process partially motivated by recent work of Hejda and Kala. Specifically, we start with an initial set $X \subseteq \mathbb{Z}^2$, and then iteratively check whether there exists a triangle $T \subseteq \mathbb{R}^2$ with its vertices in $\mathbb{Z}^2$ such that $T$ contains exactly four points of $\mathbb{Z}^2$ and exactly three points of $X$. In this case, we add the missing lattice point of $T$ to $X$, and we repeat until no such triangle exists. We study the limit sets $S$, the sets stable under this process, including determining their possible densities and some of their structure.
Realizable Standard Young Tableaux
Given two vectors $u$ and $v$, their outer sum is given by the matrix $A$ with entries $A_{ij} = u_{i} + v_{j}$. If the entries of $u$ and $v$ are increasing and sufficiently generic, the total ordering of the entries of the matrix is a standard Young tableau of rectangular shape. We call standard Young tableaux arising in this way realizable. The set of realizable tableaux was defined by Mallows and Vanderbei for studying a deconvolution algorithm, but we show they have appeared in many other contexts including sorting algorithms, quantum computing, random sorting networks, reflection arrangements, fiber polytopes, and Goodman and Pollack's theory of allowable sequences. In our work, we prove tight bounds on the asymptotic number of realizable rectangular tableaux. We also derive tight asymptotics for the number of realizable allowable sequences, which are in bijection with realizable staircase-shaped standard Young tableaux with the notion of realizability coming from the theory of sorting networks. As a consequence, we resolve an open question of Angel, Gorin, and Holroyd from 2012 and improve upon a 1986 result of Goodman and Pollack.
On oriented cycles in randomly perturbed digraphs

In 2003, Bohman, Frieze, and Martin initiated the study of randomly perturbed graphs and digraphs. For digraphs, they showed that for every $α>0$, there exists a constant $C$ such that for every $n$-vertex digraph of minimum semi-degree at least $αn$, if one adds $Cn$ random edges then asymptotically almost surely the resulting digraph contains a consistently oriented Hamilton cycle. We generalize their result, showing that the hypothesis of this theorem actually asymptotically almost surely ensures the existence of every orientation of a cycle of every possible length, simultaneously. Moreover, we prove that we can relax the minimum semi-degree condition to a minimum total degree condition when considering orientations of a cycle that do not contain a large number of vertices of indegree $1$. Our proofs make use of a variant of an absorbing method of Montgomery.

A path in an edge-colored graph is said to be rainbow if no color repeats on it. An edge-colored graph is said to be rainbow $k$-connected if every pair of vertices is connected by $k$ internally disjoint rainbow paths. The rainbow $k$-connection number $\mathrm{rc}_k(G)$ is the minimum number of colors $\ell$ such that there exists a coloring with $\ell$ colors that makes $G$ rainbow $k$-connected. Let $f(k,t)$ be the minimum integer such that every $t$-partite graph with part sizes at least $f(k,t)$ has $\mathrm{rc}_k(G) \le 4$ if $t=2$ and $\mathrm{rc}_k(G) \le 3$ if $t \ge 3$. Answering a question of Fujita, Liu and Magnant, we show that
\[
f(k,t) = \left\lceil \frac{2k}{t-1} \right\rceil
\]
for all $k\geq 2$, $t\geq 2$. We also give some conditions for which $\mathrm{rc}_k(G) \le 3$ if $t=2$ and $\mathrm{rc}_k(G) \le 2$ if $t \ge 3$.
New Lower Bounds For Essential Covers Of The Cube

An essential cover of the vertices of the $n$-cube $\{0,1\}^n$ by hyperplanes is a minimal covering where no hyperplane is redundant and every variable appears in the equation of at least one hyperplane. Linial and Radhakrishnan gave a construction of an essential cover with $\lceil \frac{n}{2} \rceil + 1$ hyperplanes and showed that $Ω(\sqrt{n})$ hyperplanes are required. Recently, Yehuda and Yehudayoff improved the lower bound by showing that any essential cover of the $n$-cube contains at least $Ω(n^{0.52})$ hyperplanes. In this paper, building on the method of Yehuda and Yehudayoff, we prove that $Ω\left( \frac{n^{5/9}}{(\log n)^{4/9}} \right)$ hyperplanes are needed.

Denote by $F_5$ the $3$-uniform hypergraph on vertex set $\{1,2,3,4,5\}$ with hyperedges $\{123,124,345\}$. Balogh, Butterfield, Hu, and Lenz proved that if $p > K \log n / n$ for some large constant $K$, then every maximum $F_5$-free subhypergraph of $G^3(n,p)$ is tripartite with high probability, and showed that if $p_0 = 0.1\sqrt{\log n} / n$, then with high probability there exists a maximum $F_5$-free subhypergraph of $G^3(n,p_0)$ that is not tripartite. In this paper, we sharpen the upper bound to be best possible up to a constant factor. We prove that if $p > C \sqrt{\log n} / n $ for some large constant $C$, then every maximum $F_5$-free subhypergraph of $G^3(n, p)$ is tripartite with high probability.

We count the ordered sum-free triplets of subsets in the group $\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}$, i.e., the triplets $(A,B,C)$ of sets $A,B,C \subset \mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}$ for which the equation $a+b=c$ has no solution with $a\in A$, $b \in B$ and $c \in C$. Our main theorem improves on a recent result by Semchankau, Shabanov, and Shkredov using a different and simpler method. Our proof relates previous results on the number of independent sets of regular graphs by Kahn, Perarnau and Perkins, and Csikvári to produce explicit estimates on smaller order terms. We also obtain estimates for the number of sum-free triplets of subsets in a general abelian group.

We prove that the maximum determinant of an $n \times n $ matrix, with entries in $\{0,1\}$ and at most $n+k$ non-zero entries, is at most $2^{k/3}$, which is best possible when $k$ is a multiple of 3. This result solves a conjecture of Bruhn and Rautenbach. We also obtain an upper bound on the number of perfect matchings in $C_4$-free bipartite graphs based on the number of edges, which, in the sparse case, improves on the classical Bregman's inequality for permanents. This bound is tight, as equality is achieved by the graph formed by vertex disjoint union of 6-vertex cycles.
