Interval hypergraphic polytopes (or deformed associahedra), Tamari interval posets, and weeping willows
For a hypergraph $\mathbb{H}$ on $[n]$, the hypergraphic polytope $\triangle_{\mathbb{H}}$ is the Minkowski sum of the standard simplices $\triangle_H$ for all $H \in \mathbb{H}$. We focus here on interval hypergraphs, where all hyperedges are intervals of $[n]$. They are precisely the deformations of Loday's associahedron. Their vertex posets are Tamari interval posets, and we describe which Tamari interval poset appears as a vertex poset in which interval hypergraphic polytope. We also characterize the interval hypergraphs $\mathbb{I}$ for which the hypergraphic polytope $\triangle_\mathbb{I}$ is simple, and we study their vertex posets, which we call weeping willows.
Flow cones of graphs with cycles and locally gentle algebras
Flow cones of a directed acyclic graph admit a family of unimodular triangulations given by Danilov, Karzanov, and Koshevoy (DKK) whose normal fans are related to (generalizations) of the associahedron and permutahedron. A correspondence between these triangulations for certain graphs and maximal cones of a $g$-vector fan of a gentle quiver associated to the graph was discovered by von Bell, Braun, Bruegge, Hanely, Peterson, Serhiyenko, and Yip in 2022. This correspondence has been fruitful in uncovering lattice structures in the triangulations. We start by showing that this correspondence is actually a linear isomorphism. We then consider flow cones of certain graphs with cycles. For this case, we give a DKK-like triangulation of the cone, and extend the correspondence to the finite $g$-vector fan of a corresponding locally gentle quiver. In addition, we extend to cyclic graphs a mysterious result of Postnikov--Stanley and Baldoni--Vergne, giving the volume of flow polytopes of acyclic graphs as the number of certain integer flows on the same graph.
We illustrate our results with a two-parameter family of cyclic graphs that includes a cycle graph and nested 2-cycles as special cases. We show that the fans of its DKK-like triangulations are respectively isomorphic to the normal fan of the cyclohedron and of a new polytope with the same $f$-vector but different combinatorial type than the permutahedron.
Ornamentation lattices and intreeval hypergraphic lattices
Given a directed graph $D$ with transitive closure $\operatorname{tc}(D)$ and path hypergraph $\mathbb{P}(D)$, we study the connections between the (acyclic) reorientation poset of $\operatorname{tc}(D)$, the (acyclic) sourcing poset of $\mathbb{P}(D)$, and the (acyclic) ornamentation poset of $D$. Geometrically, the acyclic reorientation poset of $\operatorname{tc}(D)$ (resp. the acyclic sourcing poset of $\mathbb{P}(D)$) is the transitive closure of the skeleton of the graphical zonotope of $\operatorname{tc}(D)$ (resp. of the hypergraphic polytope of $\mathbb{P}(D)$) oriented in a linear direction. When $D$ is a rooted (or even unstarred) increasing tree, we show that the acyclic sourcing poset of $\mathbb{P}(D)$ is isomorphic to the ornamentation lattice of $D$, and that they form a lattice quotient of the acyclic reorientation lattice of $\operatorname{tc}(D)$. As a consequence, we obtain polytopal realizations of the ornamentation lattices of rooted (or even unstarred) increasing trees, answering an open question of C. Defant and A. Sack. When $D$ is an increasing tree, we show that the ornamentation lattice of $D$ is the MacNeille completion of the acyclic sourcing poset of $\mathbb{P}(D)$. Finally, still when $D$ is an increasing tree, we use the ornamentation lattice of $D$ to characterize the subhypergraphs of the path hypergraph $\mathbb{P}(D)$ whose acyclic sourcing poset is a lattice.
Factorizations in Hecke algebras I: long cycle factorizations and Jucys-Murphy elements
Given a permutation, there is a well-developed literature studying the number of ways one can factor it into a product of other permutations subject to certain conditions. We initiate the analogous theory for the type A Iwahori-Hecke algebra by generalizing the notion of factorization in terms of the Jucys-Murphy elements. Some of the oldest and most foundational factorization results for the symmetric groups pertain to the long cycle. Our main results give q-deformations of these long cycle factorizations and reveal q-binomial, q-Catalan, and q-Narayana numbers along the way.
The $h^*$-polynomials of type C hypersimplices
We study the Ehrhart theory of hypersimplices of type C, as introduced by Lam and Postnikov for general crystallographic root systems. The $h^*$-polynomials of classical hypersimplices are known to relate to various Eulerian statistics on the symmetric group. In this paper, we introduce a new statistic and partial order on signed permutations, which we use to derive explicit formulas for the $h^*$-polynomials of type C hypersimplices. Additionally, we explore connections with other statistics, including flag-excedances and circular descents, flag-descents, and Coxeter descents.

We introduce the Primitive Eulerian polynomial $P_{\cal A}(z)$ of a central hyperplane arrangement ${\cal A}$. It is a reparametrization of its cocharacteristic polynomial. Previous work of the first author implicitly show that, for simplicial arrangements, $P_{\cal A}(z)$ has nonnegative coefficients. For reflection arrangements of type A and B, the same work interprets the coefficients of $P_{\cal A}(z)$ using the (flag)excedance statistic on (signed) permutations. The main result of this article is to provide an interpretation of the coefficients of $P_{\cal A}(z)$ for all simplicial arrangements only using the geometry and combinatorics of ${\cal A}$.
This new interpretation sheds more light to the case of reflection arrangements and, for the first time, gives combinatorial meaning to the coefficients of the Primitive Eulerian polynomial of the reflection arrangement of type D. In type B, we find a connection between the Primitive Eulerian polynomial and the $1/2$-Eulerian polynomial of Savage and Viswanathan (2012). We present some real-rootedness results and conjectures for $P_{\cal A}(z)$.

We develop the idempotent theory for algebras over a class of semigroups called left regular bands of groups (LRBGs), which simultaneously generalize group algebras of finite groups and left regular band (LRB) algebras. Our techniques weave together the representation theory of finite groups and LRBs, opening the door for a systematic study of LRBGs in an analogous way to LRBs. We apply our results to construct complete systems of primitive orthogonal idempotents in the Mantaci--Reutenauer algebra ${\sf{MR}}_n[G]$ associated to any finite group $G$. When $G$ is abelian, we give closed form expressions for these idempotents, and when $G$ is the cyclic group of order two, we prove that these recover idempotents introduced by Vazirani.
Associahedra, cyclohedra and inversion of power series
We introduce the Hopf monoid of sets of cycles and paths, which contains the Faà di Bruno Hopf monoid as a submonoid. We give cancellation-free and grouping-free formulas for its antipode, one in terms of tubings and one in terms of \emph{pointed} noncrossing partitions. We provide an explicit description of the group of characters of this Hopf monoid in terms of pairs of power series. Using graph associahedra, we relate paths and cycles to associahedra and cyclohedra, respectively. We give formulas for inversion in the group of characters in terms of the faces of these polytopes.

The polytope subalgebra of deformations of a zonotope can be endowed with the structure of a module over the Tits algebra of the corresponding hyperplane arrangement. We explore this construction and find relations between statistics on (signed) permutations and the module structure in the case of (type B) generalized permutahedra. In type B, the module structure surprisingly reveals that any family of generators (via signed Minkowski sums) for generalized permutahedra of type B will contain at least $2^{d-1}$ full-dimensional polytopes. We find a generating family of simplices attaining this minimum. Finally, we prove that the relations defining the polytope algebra are compatible with the Hopf monoid structure of generalized permutahedra.
Characteristic elements for real hyperplane arrangements
Characteristic elements of the Tits algebra of a real hyperplane arrangement carry information about the characteristic polynomial. We present this notion and its basic properties, and apply it to derive various results about the characteristic polynomial of an arrangement, from Zaslavsky's formulas to more recent results of Kung and of Klivans and Swartz. We construct several examples of characteristic elements, including one in terms of intrinsic volumes of faces of the arrangement.
