Flow cones of graphs with cycles and locally gentle algebras
Flow cones of a directed acyclic graph admit a family of unimodular triangulations given by Danilov, Karzanov, and Koshevoy (DKK) whose normal fans are related to (generalizations) of the associahedron and permutahedron. A correspondence between these triangulations for certain graphs and maximal cones of a $g$-vector fan of a gentle quiver associated to the graph was discovered by von Bell, Braun, Bruegge, Hanely, Peterson, Serhiyenko, and Yip in 2022. This correspondence has been fruitful in uncovering lattice structures in the triangulations. We start by showing that this correspondence is actually a linear isomorphism. We then consider flow cones of certain graphs with cycles. For this case, we give a DKK-like triangulation of the cone, and extend the correspondence to the finite $g$-vector fan of a corresponding locally gentle quiver. In addition, we extend to cyclic graphs a mysterious result of Postnikov--Stanley and Baldoni--Vergne, giving the volume of flow polytopes of acyclic graphs as the number of certain integer flows on the same graph. We illustrate our results with a two-parameter family of cyclic graphs that includes a cycle graph and nested 2-cycles as special cases. We show that the fans of its DKK-like triangulations are respectively isomorphic to the normal fan of the cyclohedron and of a new polytope with the same $f$-vector but different combinatorial type than the permutahedron.
Ornamentation lattices and intreeval hypergraphic lattices
Given a directed graph $D$ with transitive closure $\operatorname{tc}(D)$ and path hypergraph $\mathbb{P}(D)$, we study the connections between the (acyclic) reorientation poset of $\operatorname{tc}(D)$, the (acyclic) sourcing poset of $\mathbb{P}(D)$, and the (acyclic) ornamentation poset of $D$. Geometrically, the acyclic reorientation poset of $\operatorname{tc}(D)$ (resp. the acyclic sourcing poset of $\mathbb{P}(D)$) is the transitive closure of the skeleton of the graphical zonotope of $\operatorname{tc}(D)$ (resp. of the hypergraphic polytope of $\mathbb{P}(D)$) oriented in a linear direction. When $D$ is a rooted (or even unstarred) increasing tree, we show that the acyclic sourcing poset of $\mathbb{P}(D)$ is isomorphic to the ornamentation lattice of $D$, and that they form a lattice quotient of the acyclic reorientation lattice of $\operatorname{tc}(D)$. As a consequence, we obtain polytopal realizations of the ornamentation lattices of rooted (or even unstarred) increasing trees, answering an open question of C. Defant and A. Sack. When $D$ is an increasing tree, we show that the ornamentation lattice of $D$ is the MacNeille completion of the acyclic sourcing poset of $\mathbb{P}(D)$. Finally, still when $D$ is an increasing tree, we use the ornamentation lattice of $D$ to characterize the subhypergraphs of the path hypergraph $\mathbb{P}(D)$ whose acyclic sourcing poset is a lattice.

Dimension of unicycle posets
Motivated by the study of the dimension of random posets, it was conjectured by Bollobás and Brightwell in 1997 that if $P$ is a finite poset whose cover graph contains at most one cycle then its order dimension is at most $3$. In this paper we prove this conjecture by giving a constructive proof with explicit triplets of linear extensions realizing such posets.

The $h^*$-polynomials of type C hypersimplices
We study the Ehrhart theory of hypersimplices of type C, as introduced by Lam and Postnikov for general crystallographic root systems. The $h^*$-polynomials of classical hypersimplices are known to relate to various Eulerian statistics on the symmetric group. In this paper, we introduce a new statistic and partial order on signed permutations, which we use to derive explicit formulas for the $h^*$-polynomials of type C hypersimplices. Additionally, we explore connections with other statistics, including flag-excedances and circular descents, flag-descents, and Coxeter descents.
Power Quotients of Plactic-like Monoids
Published in EPTCS 403, 2024, pp. 12-17 • View PublicationBIB
In this paper we describe the quotients of several plactic-like monoids by the least congruences containing the relations $a^{σ(a)} = a$ with $σ(a)\ge 2$ for every generator $a$. The starting point for this description is the recent paper of Abram and Reutenauer about the so-called stylic monoid which happens to be the quotient of the plactic monoid by the relations $a^2 = a$ for every letter $a$. The plactic-like monoids considered are the plactic monoid itself, the Chinese monoid, and the sylvester monoid. In each case we describe: a set of normal forms, and the idempotents; and obtain formulae for their size.

Block-counting sequences are not purely morphic
Let $m$ be a positive integer larger than $1$, let $w$ be a finite word over $\left\{0,1,...,m-1\right\}$ and let $a_{m;w}(n)$ be the number of occurrences of the word $w$ in the $m$-expansion of $n$ mod $p$ for any non-negative integer $n$. In this article, we first give a fast algorithm to generate all sequences of the form $(a_{m;w}(n))_{n \in \mathbf{N}}$; then, under the hypothesis that $m$ is a prime, we prove that all these sequences are $m$-uniformly but not purely morphic, except for $w=1,2,...,m-1$; finally, under the same assumption of $m$ as before, we prove that the power series $\sum_{i=0}^{\infty} a_{m;w}(n)t^n$ is algebraic of degree $m$ over $\mathbb{F}_m(t)$.

On a Lemma of Schensted
We give a direct proof of Schensted's lemma asserting that row and column insertion in a tableau commute.
Quivers of stylic algebras

We construct a complete system of primitive orthogonal idempotents and give an explicit quiver presentation of the monoid algebra of the stylic monoid introduced by Abram and Reutenauer [arXiv:2106.06556].

The Stylic Monoid
Published • View PublicationBIB
The free monoid $A^*$ on a finite totally ordered alphabet $A$ acts at the left on columns, by Schensted left insertion. This defines a finite monoid, denoted $Styl(A)$ and called the stylic monoid. It is canonically a quotient of the plactic monoid. Main results are: the cardinality of $Styl(A)$ is equal to the number of partitions of a set on $|A|+1$ elements. We give a bijection with so-called $N$-tableaux, similar to Schensted's algorithm, explaining this fact. Presentation of $Styl(A)$: it is generated by $A$ subject to the plactic (Knuth) relations and the idempotent relations $a^2=a$, $a\in A$. The canonical involutive anti-automorphism on $A^*$, which reverses the order on $A$, induces an involution of $Styl(A)$, which similarly to the corresponding involution of the plactic monoid, may be computed by an evacuation-like operation (Schützenberger involution on tableaux) on so-called standard immaculate tableaux (which are in bijection with partitions). The monoid $Styl(A)$ is $J$-trivial, and the $J$-order of $Styl(A)$ is graded: the co-rank is given by the number of elements in the $N$-tableau. The monoid $Styl(A)$ is the syntactic monoid for the the function which associates to each word $w\in A^*$ the length of its longest strictly decreasing subword.
An order on circular permutations
Published • View PublicationBIB
Motivation coming from the study of affine Weyl groups, a structure of ranked poset is defined on the set of circular permutations in $S_n$ (that is, $n$-cycles). It is isomorphic to the poset of so-called admitted vectors, and to an interval in the affine symmetric group $\tilde S_n$ with the weak order. The poset is a semidistributive lattice, and the rank function, whose range is cubic in $n$, is computed by some special formula involving inversions. We prove also some links with Eulerian numbers, triangulations of an $n$-gon, and Young's lattice.
