The sorting index on colored permutations and even-signed permutations
Published • View PublicationBIB
We define a new statistic $\mathsf{sor}$ on the set of colored permutations $\mathsf{G}_{r,n}$ and prove that it has the same distribution as the length function. For the set of restricted colored permutations corresponding to the arrangements of $n$ non-attacking rooks on a fixed Ferrers shape we show that the following two sequences of set-valued statistics are joint equidistributed: $(\ell,\mathsf{Rmil}^0,\mathsf{Rmil}^1,...,\mathsf{Rmil}^{r-1}$, $\mathsf{Lmil}^0,\mathsf{Lmil}^1,...,\mathsf{Lmil}^{r-1}$, $\mathsf{Lmal}^0,\mathsf{Lmal}^1,...,\mathsf{Lmal}^{r-1}$, $\mathsf{Lmap}^0,\mathsf{Lmap}^1,...,\mathsf{Lmap}^{r-1})$ and $(\mathsf{sor},\mathsf{Cyc}^0,\mathsf{Cyc}^{r-1},...,\mathsf{Cyc}^{1}$, $\mathsf{Lmic}^0,\mathsf{Lmic}^{r-1},...,\mathsf{Lmic}^{1}$, $\mathsf{Lmal}^0,\mathsf{Lmal}^1,...,\mathsf{Lmal}^{r-1}$, $\mathsf{Lmap}^0,\mathsf{Lmap}^1,...,\mathsf{Lmap}^{r-1})$. Analogous results are also obtained for Coxeter group of type $D$. Our results extend recent results of Petersen, Chen-Gong-Guo and Poznanović.

The sorting index and set-valued joint equidistributions of $\mathcal{B}_n$ and $\mathcal{D}_n$
The sorting indices $\text{sor}_B$ and $\text{sor}_D$ on the Coxeter groups of type $B$ and $D$ respectively are defined by Petersen and it is proved that $(\text{inv}_B, \text{rlmin})$ and $(\text{sor}_B, \ell'_B)$ have the same joint distribution for type $B$ while $\text{inv}_D$ and $\text{sor}_D$ have the same distribution for type $D$. These results, including a set-valued extension of type $B$ involving two equildistributed pairs of three statistics, are proved combinatorially by Chen et al. via two mappings $\varphi:=\text{(B-code)}^{-1}\circ \text{(A-code)}$ and $ψ:=\text{(D-code)}^{-1}\circ \text{(C-code)}$. In this paper we further extend these results. In type $B$ we prove a set-valued joint equildistribution between a pair of seven statistics, and find a five-variable generating function. In type $D$ we define new set-valued statistics, among them $\text{Cyc}^+_D$ and $\text{Cyc}^-_D$, and firstly find a set-valued joint equidistribution between a pair of five statistics and find a four-variable generating function.
Signed Mahonian polynomials for major and sorting indices
Published • View PublicationBIB
We derive some new signed Mahonian polynomials over the complex reflection group $G(r,1,n)=C_r\wr\mathfrak{S}_n$, where the "sign" is taken to be any of the $2r$ $1$-dim characters and the "Mahonian" statistics are the $\mathsf{lmaj}$ defined by Bagno and the $\mathsf{sor}$ defined by Eu et al. Various new signed Mahonian polynomials over Coxeter groups of types $B_n$ and $D_n$ are derived as well. We also investigate the signed counting polynomials on $G(r,1,n)$ for those statistics with the distribution $[r]_q[2r]_q\cdots [nr]_q$.
Standard Young Tableaux and Colored Motzkin Paths
Published • View PublicationBIB
In this paper, we propose a notion of colored Motzkin paths and establish a bijection between the $n$-cell standard Young tableaux (SYT) of bounded height and the colored Motzkin paths of length $n$. This result not only gives a lattice path interpretation of the standard Young tableaux but also reveals an unexpected intrinsic relation between the set of SYTs with at most $2d+1$ rows and the set of SYTs with at most 2d rows.

Hankel determinants of sums of consecutive weighted Schröder numbers
Published • View PublicationBIB
For a real number $t$, let $r_\ell(t)$ be the total weight of all $t$-large Schröder paths of length $\ell$, and $s_\ell(t)$ be the total weight of all $t$-small Schröder paths of length $\ell$. For constants $α, β$, in this article we derive recurrence formulae for the determinats of the Hankel matrices $\det_{1\le i,j\le n} (αr_{i+j-2}(t) +βr_{i+j-1}(t))$, $\det_{1\le i,j\le n} (αr_{i+j-1}(t) +βr_{i+j}(t))$, $\det_{1\le i,j\le n} (αs_{i+j-2}(t) +βs_{i+j-1}(t))$, and $\det_{1\le i,j\le n} (αs_{i+j-1}(t) +βs_{i+j}(t))$ combinatorially via suitable lattice path models.

Exterior Pairs and Up Step Statistics on Dyck Paths
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $\C_n$ be the set of Dyck paths of length $n$. In this paper, by a new automorphism of ordered trees, we prove that the statistic `number of exterior pairs', introduced by A. Denise and R. Simion, on the set $\C_n$ is equidistributed with the statistic `number of up steps at height $h$ with $h\equiv 0$ (mod 3)'. Moreover, for $m\ge 3$, we prove that the two statistics `number of up steps at height $h$ with $h\equiv 0$ (mod $m$)' and `number of up steps at height $h$ with $h\equiv m-1$ (mod $m$)' on the set $\C_n$ are `almost equidistributed'. Both results are proved combinatorially.
On Simsun and Double Simsun Permutations Avoiding a Pattern of Length Three
Published • View PublicationBIB
A permutation $σ\in\mathfrak{S}_n$ is simsun if for all $k$, the subword of $σ$ restricted to $\{1,...,k\}$ does not have three consecutive decreasing elements. The permutation $σ$ is double simsun if both $σ$ and $σ^{-1}$ are simsun. In this paper we present a new bijection between simsun permutations and increasing 1-2 trees, and show a number of interesting consequences of this bijection in the enumeration of pattern-avoiding simsun and double simsun permutations. We also enumerate the double simsun permutations that avoid each pattern of length three.

On the three-rowed skew standard Young tableaux
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $\mathcal{T}_3$ be the three-rowed strip. Recently Regev conjectured that the number of standard Young tableaux with $n-3$ entries in the "skew three-rowed strip" $\mathcal{T}_3 / (2,1,0)$ is $m_{n-1}-m_{n-3}$, a difference of two Motzkin numbers. This conjecture, together with hundreds of similar identities, were derived automatically and proved rigorously by Zeilberger via his powerful program and WZ method. It appears that each one is a linear combination of Motzkin numbers with constant coefficients. In this paper we will introduce a simple bijection between Motzkin paths and standard Young tableaux with at most three rows. With this bijection we answer Zeilberger's question affirmatively that there is a uniform way to construct bijective proofs for all of those identites.

Nonhomogeneous parking functions and noncrossing partitions
Published in Electron. J. Comb. 15 (1) (2008), #R146 • View PublicationBIB
For each skew shape we define a nonhomogeneous symmetric function, generalizing a construction of Pak and Postnikov. In two special cases, we show that the coefficients of this function when expanded in the complete homogeneous basis are given in terms of the (reduced) type of $k$-divisible noncrossing partitions. Our work extends Haiman's notion of a parking function symmetric function.

The Cyclic Sieving Phenomenon for Faces of Generalized Cluster Complexes
Published • View PublicationBIB
The notion of cyclic sieving phenomenon is introduced by Reiner, Stanton, and White as a generalization of Stembridge's $q=-1$ phenomenon. The generalized cluster complexes associated to root systems are given by Fomin and Reading as a generalization of the cluster complexes found by Fomin and Zelevinsky. In this paper, the faces of various dimensions of the generalized cluster complexes in type $A_n$, $B_n$, $D_n$, and $I_2(a)$ are shown to exhibit the cyclic sieving phenomenon under a cyclic group action. For the cluster complexes of exceptional type $E_6$, $E_7$, $E_8$, $F_4$, $H_3$, and $H_4$, a verification for such a phenomenon on their maximal faces is given.

Based on a bijection between domino tilings of an Aztec diamond and non-intersecting lattice paths, a simple proof of the Aztec diamond theorem is given in terms of Hankel determinants of the large and small Schröder numbers.
