On the exact quantum chromatic number of generalized Johnson graphs
The quantum chromatic number is a fundamental parameter in the study of nonlocal games, capturing the extent to which entanglement can improve performance in distributed tasks. In this paper, we investigate the quantum chromatic number of generalized Johnson graphs. By constructing modulus-one orthogonal representations, we obtain general upper bounds on their quantum chromatic numbers. We further analyze the smallest eigenvalue of these graphs. Combining the resulting Hoffman-type lower bounds with the upper bounds obtained from orthogonal representations, we determine the exact quantum chromatic numbers of two infinite families of generalized Johnson graphs. Finally, applying a forbidden-distance theorem for binary codes, we show that the classical chromatic numbers of these families grow exponentially with $n$, whereas their quantum chromatic numbers grow linearly. These families exhibit an exponential separation between the classical and quantum chromatic numbers.
Uniform mixing and $ε$-uniform mixing on cycles
We study continuous-time quantum walks on cycles. We prove two complementary results. Firstly, the cycle $C_9$ does not admit uniform mixing at any time. Using the similar idea and Dickson polynomials, we prove that $C_{15}$ does not admit uniform mixing at any time neither. Secondly, for every prime $p$, we show that the cycle $C_{p^2}$ admits $ε$-uniform mixing.
Perfect state transfer in Grover walks on dihedral Cayley graphs
The paper investigates perfect state transfer (PST) in Grover walks on Cayley graphs over the dihedral group $D_n$. The Grover walk is a discrete-time quantum walk widely studied in quantum information processing. A Cayley graph $\operatorname{Cay}(Γ,S)$ is called normal if $S$ is the union of some conjugacy classes of the group $Γ$; otherwise, it is called non-normal. Most existing studies have been restricted to Cayley graphs over abelian groups. In contrast, we investigate both normal and non-normal cases for Cayley graphs over the non-abelian group $D_n$. By examining the parity of $n$ and the normality of the Cayley graph, we obtain a complete characterization of PST on $\operatorname{Cay}(D_n,S)$. In particular, we establish necessary and sufficient conditions for the occurrence of PST in all possible cases, and prove that PST does not occur for normal Cayley graphs when $n$ is odd. Furthermore, we construct several infinite families of normal and non-normal Cayley graphs $\operatorname{Cay}(D_n,S)$ that exhibit PST, illustrating the application of the main result. Our approach is based on the representation theory of the dihedral group.
On the quantum chromatic number of Hamming and generalized Hadamard graphs
Quantum coloring finds applications in quantum cryptography and information. In this paper, we study the quantum chromatic numbers of Hamming graphs and a generalization of Hadamard graphs. We investigate the separation between the quantum and classical chromatic numbers of these graphs and determine the quantum chromatic numbers for some of them.
For the upper bounds of the quantum chromatic numbers, we develop a linear programming approach over the Hamming scheme to construct modulus-one orthogonal representations. For the lower bounds, we determine the minimum eigenvalues for some of these graphs to derive corresponding spectral lower bounds on their quantum chromatic numbers.
Quantum chromatic numbers of some graphs in Hamming schemes
The study of quantum chromatic numbers of graphs is a hot research topic in recent years. However, the infinite family of graphs with known quantum chromatic numbers are rare, as far as we know, the only known such graphs (except for complete graphs, cycles, bipartite graphs and some trivial cases) are the Hadamard graphs $H_n$ with $2^n$ vertices and $n$ a multiple of $4$. In this paper, we consider the graphs in Hamming schemes, we determined the quantum chromatic numbers of one class of such graphs. Notably, this is the second known family of graphs whose quantum chromatic numbers are explicitly determined except for some cases aforementioned. We also provide some bounds for the quantum chromatic numbers of some other graphs in Hamming schemes. Consequently, we can obtain the quantum chromatic numbers of products of some graphs.
A Construction of Asymptotically Optimal Cascaded CDC Schemes via Combinatorial Designs
A coded distributed computing (CDC) system aims to reduce the communication load in the MapReduce framework. Such a system has $K$ nodes, $N$ input files, and $Q$ Reduce functions. Each input file is mapped by $r$ nodes and each Reduce function is computed by $s$ nodes. The objective is to achieve the maximum multicast gain. There are known CDC schemes that achieve optimal communication load. In some prominent known schemes, however, $N$ and $Q$ grow too fast in terms of $K$, greatly reducing their gains in practical scenarios. To mitigate the situation, some asymptotically optimal cascaded CDC schemes with $r=s$ have been proposed by using symmetric designs. In this paper, we put forward new asymptotically optimal cascaded CDC schemes with $r=s$ by using $1$-designs. Compared with earlier schemes from symmetric designs, ours have much smaller computation loads while keeping the other relevant parameters the same. We also obtain new asymptotically optimal cascaded CDC schemes with more flexible parameters compared with previously best-performing schemes.
Sharper Asymptotically Optimal CDC Schemes via Combinatorial Designs
Coded distributed computing (CDC) was introduced to greatly reduce the communication load for MapReduce computing systems. Such a system has $K$ nodes, $N$ input files, and $Q$ Reduce functions. Each input file is mapped by $r$ nodes and each Reduce function is computed by $s$ nodes. The architecture must allow for coding techniques that achieve the maximum multicast gain. Some CDC schemes that achieve optimal communication load have been proposed before. The parameters $N$ and $Q$ in those schemes, however, grow too fast with respect to $K$ to be of great practical value. To improve the situation, researchers have come up with some asymptotically optimal cascaded CDC schemes with $s+r=K$ from symmetric designs.
In this paper, we propose new asymptotically optimal cascaded CDC schemes. Akin to known schemes, ours have $r+s=K$ and make use of symmetric designs as construction tools. Unlike previous schemes, ours have much smaller communication loads, given the same set of parameters $K$, $r$, $N$, and $Q$. We also expand the construction tools to include almost difference sets. Using them, we have managed to construct a new asymptotically optimal cascaded CDC scheme.
Fractional revival on abelian Cayley graphs
Fractional revival, known as a quantum transport phenomenon, is essential for entanglement generation in quantum spin networks. The concept of fractional revival is a generalization of perfect state transfer and periodicity on graphs. In this paper, we propose a sufficient and necessary condition for abelian Cayley graphs having fractional revival between any two distinct vertices. With this characterization, two general constructions of abelian Cayley graphs having fractional revival is presented. Meanwhile, we establish several new families of abelian Cayley graphs admitting fractional revival.
Uniform mixing on integral abelian Cayley graph
In the past few decades, quantum algorithms have become a popular research area of both mathematicians and engineers. Among them, uniform mixing provides a uniform probability distribution of quantum information over time which attracts a special attention. However, there are only a few known examples of graphs which admit uniform mixing. In this paper, a characterization of abelian Cayley graphs having uniform mixing is presented. Some concrete constructions of such graphs are provided. Specifically, for cubelike graphs, it is shown that the Cayley graph ${\rm Cay}(\mathbb{F}_2^{2k};S)$ has uniform mixing if the characteristic function of $S$ is bent. Moreover, a difference-balanced property of the eigenvalues of an integral abelian Cayley graph having uniform mixing is established. Some nonexistence results of uniform mixing on abelian Cayley graphs are presented also. Notably, for a linear abelian Cayley graph $Γ$ over $\mathbb{Z}_n^r$, it is proved that uniform mixing occurs on this graph only if $n=2,3,4$ which partially confirms a long-standing conjecture. Finally, with some restrictions on the connection set, we show that if a cyclic group $G$ whose order is divisible by an odd prime such that ${\rm Cay}(G,S)$ has uniform mixing at some time $t$ being a rational multiple of $π$, then the graph should be integral. An interesting reduction method on the circulant Cayley graphs having uniform mixing has been established. Using this method, we can answer some related open questions. For example, we can show that the only two cycles having uniform mixing are $C_3$ and $C_4$.
Perfect State Transfer on Abelian Cayley Graphs
Perfect state transfer (PST) has great significance due to its applications in quantum information processing and quantum computation. In this paper we present a characterization on connected simple Cayley graph $Γ={\rm Cay}(G,S)$ having PST. We show that many previous results on periodicity and existence of PST of circulant graphs (where the underlying group $G$ is cyclic) and cubelike graphs ($G=(\mathbb{F}_2^n,+)$) can be derived or generalized to arbitrary abelian case in unified and more simple ways from our characterization. We also get several new results including answers on some problems raised before.

In this paper, several new classes of Boolean functions with few Walsh transform values, including bent, semi-bent and five-valued functions, are obtained by adding the product of two or three linear functions to some known bent functions.Numerical results show that the proposed class contains cubic bent functions that are affinely inequivalent to all known quadratic ones. Meanwhile, we determine the distribution of the Walsh spectrum of five-valued functions constructed in this paper.

On Some Expander Graphs and Algebraic Cayley Graphs
Expander graphs have many interesting applications in communication networks and other areas, and thus these graphs have been extensively studied in theoretic computer sciences and in applied mathematics. In this paper, we use reversible difference sets and generalized difference sets to construct more expander graphs, some of them are Ramanujan graphs. Three classes of elementary constructions of infinite families of Ramanujan graphs are provided. It is proved that for every even integer $k>4$, if $2(k+2)=rs$ for two even numbers $r$ and $s$ with $s\geq 4$ and $2s>r\geq s$, or $r\geq 4$ and $2r>s\geq r$, then there exists an $k$-regular Ramanujan graph. As a consequence, there exists an $k$-regular Ramanujan graph with $k=2t^2-2$ for every integer $t>2$. It is also proved that for every odd integer $m$, there is an $(2^{2m-2}+2^{m-1})$-regular Ramanujan graph. These results partially solved the long hanging open question for the existence of $k$-regular Ramanujan graphs for every positive integer $k$.
