We prove an upper bound of the form $2^{O(d^2 \mathrm{polylog}\,d)}$ on the number of affine (resp. linear) equivalence classes of, by increasing order of generality, 2-level d-polytopes, d-cones and d-configurations. This in particular answers positively a conjecture of Bohn et al. on 2-level polytopes. We obtain our upper bound by relating affine (resp. linear) equivalence classes of 2-level d-polytopes, d-cones and d-configurations to faces of the correlation cone. We complement this with a $2^{Ω(d^2)}$ lower bound, by estimating the number of nonequivalent stable set polytopes of bipartite graphs.

We study the existence of hamiltonian cycles in plane cubic graphs G having a facial 2-factor Q. Thus hamiltonicity in G is transformed into the existence of a (quasi) spanning tree of faces in the contraction G/Q. In particular, we study the case where G is the leapfrog extension (called vertex envelope in (Discrete Math., 309(14):4793-4809, 2009)) of a plane cubic graph G_0. As a consequence we prove hamiltonicity in the leapfrog extension of planar cubic cyclically 4-edge-connected bipartite graphs. This and other results of this paper establish partial solutions of Barnette's Conjecture according to which every 3-connected cubic planar bipartite graph is hamiltonian. These results go considerably beyond Goodey's result on this topic (Israel J. Math., 22:52-56, 1975).

Gyárfás and Lehel and independently Faudree and Schelp proved that in any 2-coloring of the edges of $K_{n,n}$ there exists a monochromatic path on at least $2\lceil n/2\rceil$ vertices, and this is tight. We prove a stability version of this result which holds even if the host graph is not complete; that is, if $G$ is a balanced bipartite graph on $2n$ vertices with minimum degree at least $(3/4+o(1))n$, then in every 2-coloring of the edges of $G$, either there exists a monochromatic cycle on at least $(1+o(1))n$ vertices, or the coloring of $G$ is close to an extremal coloring -- in which case $G$ has a monochromatic path on at least $2\lceil n/2\rceil$ vertices and a monochromatic cycle on at least $2\lfloor n/2\rfloor$ vertices. Furthermore, we determine an asymptotically tight bound on the length of a longest monochromatic cycle in a 2-colored balanced bipartite graph on $2n$ vertices with minimum degree $δn$ for all $0\leq δ\leq 1$.

It is well-known that in every $r$-coloring of the edges of the complete bipartite graph $K_{m,n}$ there is a monochromatic connected component with at least ${m+n\over r}$ vertices. In this paper we study an extension of this problem by replacing complete bipartite graphs by bipartite graphs of large minimum degree. We conjecture that in every $r$-coloring of the edges of an $(X,Y)$-bipartite graph with $|X|=m$, $|Y|=n$, $δ(X,Y) > \left( 1 - \frac{1}{r+1}\right) n$ and $δ(Y,X) > \left( 1 - \frac{1}{r+1}\right) m$, there exists a monochromatic component on at least $\frac{m+n}{r}$ vertices (as in the complete bipartite graph). If true, the minimum degree condition is sharp (in that both inequalities cannot be made weak when $m$ and $n$ are divisible by $r+1$).
We prove the conjecture for $r=2$ and we prove a weaker bound for all $r\geq 3$. As a corollary, we obtain a result about the existence of monochromatic components with at least $\frac{n}{r-1}$ vertices in $r$-colored graphs with large minimum degree.

A dessin is a $2$-cell embedding of a connected $2$-coloured bipartite graph into an orientable closed surface. A dessin is regular if its group of colour- and orientation-preserving automorphisms acts regularly on the edges. In this paper we employ group-theoretic method to determine and enumerate the isomorphism classes of regular dessins with the complete bipartite underlying graphs of odd prime power order.

The number $Z(n):=\lfloor n/2\rfloor\lfloor (n-1)/2\rfloor$ is the smallest number of crossings in a simple planar drawing of $K_{2,n}$ in which both vertices on the 2-side have the same clockwise rotation. For two vertices $u,v$ on the $q$-side of a simple drawing of $K_{p,q}$, let $\operatorname{cr}_D(u,v)$ denote the total number of crossings that edges incident with $u$ have with edges incident with $v$.
We show that in any simple drawing $D$ of $K_{p,q}$ in a surface $Σ$ the number of pairs of vertices on the $q$-side of $K_{p,q}$ having $\operatorname{cr}_D(u,v)<Z(p)$ is bounded as a function of $p$ and $Σ$. As a consequence, we also show that, for a fixed integer $p$ and surface $Σ$, there exists a finite set of drawings $\mathcal{D}(p,Σ)$ of complete bipartite graphs such that, for each $q$, a crossing-minimal drawing of $K_{p,q}$ can be obtained by "duplicating vertices" in some drawing from $\mathcal D(p,Σ)$.

Let $G$ be a graph and $τ$ be an assignment of nonnegative integer thresholds to the vertices of $G$. Denote the average of thresholds in $τ$ by $\barτ$. A subset of vertices $D$ is said to be a $τ$-dynamic monopoly, if $V(G)$ can be partitioned into subsets $D_0, D_1, \ldots, D_k$ such that $D_0=D$ and for any $i\in \{0, \ldots, k-1\}$, each vertex $v$ in $D_{i+1}$ has at least $τ(v)$ neighbors in $D_0\cup \ldots \cup D_i$. Denote the size of smallest $τ$-dynamic monopoly by $dyn_τ(G)$. Also a subset of vertices $M$ is said to be a $τ$-static monopoly (or simply $τ$-monopoly) if any vertex $v\in V(G)\setminus M$ has at least $τ(v)$ neighbors in $M$. Denote the size of smallest $τ$-monopoly by $mon_τ(G)$. For a given positive number $t$, denote by $Sdyn_t(G)$ (resp. $Smon_t(G)$), the minimum $dyn_τ(G)$ (resp. $mon_τ(G)$) among all threshold assignments $τ$ with $\overlineτ\geq t$. In this paper we consider the concept of partial vertex cover as follows. Let $G=(V, E)$ be a graph and $t$ be any positive integer. A subset $S\subseteq V$ is said to be a $t$-partial vertex cover of $G$, if $S$ covers at least $t$ edges of $G$. Denote the smallest size of a $t$-partial vertex cover of $G$ by $Pβ_t(G)$. Let $ρ$, $0<ρ<1$ be any fixed number and $G$ be a given bipartite graph with $m$ edges. We first prove that to determine the smallest cardinality of a set $S\subseteq V(G)$ such that $S$ covers at least $ρm$ edges of $G$, is an NP-hard problem. Then we prove that for any constant $t$, $Sdyn_{t}(G)=Pβ_{nt-m}(G)$ and $Smon_t(G)=Pβ_{nt/2}(G)$, where $n$ and $m$ are the order and size of $G$, respectively.

A long-standing conjecture of Erdős and Simonovits asserts that for every rational number $r\in (1,2)$ there exists a bipartite graph $H$ such that $\ex(n,H)=Θ(n^r)$. So far this conjecture is known to be true only for rationals of form $1+1/k$ and $2-1/k$, for integers $k\geq 2$. In this paper we add a new form of rationals for which the conjecture is true; $2-2/(2k+1)$, for $k\geq 2$. This in its turn also gives an affirmative answer to a question of Pinchasi and Sharir on cube-like graphs.
Recently, a version of Erdős and Simonovits's conjecture where one replaces a single graph by a family, was confirmed by Bukh and Conlon. They proposed a construction of bipartite graphs which should satisfy Erdős and Simonovits's conjecture. Our result can also be viewed as a first step towards verifying Bukh and Conlon's conjecture.
We also prove the an upper bound on the Turán's number of $θ$-graphs in an asymmetric setting and employ this result to obtain yet another new rational exponent for Turán exponents; $r=7/5$.

Let $d\geq 3$ be a fixed integer, and a prime number $p$ such that $\gcd(p,d)=1$. Let $A$ be the adjacency matrix of a random $d$-regular directed graph on $n$ vertices. We show that as a random matrix in ${\mathbb F}_p$, \begin{equation} {\mathbb P}(\text{$A$ is singular in ${\mathbb F}_p$})\leq \frac{1+{\mathrm{o}}(1)}{p-1}, \end{equation} as $n$ goes to infinity. As a consequence, as a random matrix in $\mathbb R$, \begin{equation} {\mathbb P}(\text{$A$ is singular in $\mathbb R$})={\mathrm{o}}(1) \end{equation} as $n$ goes to infinity. This answers an open problem by Frieze [12] and Vu [29,30], for random $d$-regular bipartite graphs. The proof combines a local central limit theorem and a large deviation estimate.
Strong geodetic problem on complete multipartite graphs
The strong geodetic problem is to find the smallest number of vertices such that by fixing one shortest path between each pair, all vertices of the graph are covered. In this paper we study the strong geodetic problem on complete bipartite graphs; in particular, we discuss its asymptotic behavior. Some results for complete multipartite graphs are also derived. Finally, we prove that the strong geodetic problem restricted to (general) bipartite graphs is NP-complete.

We characterize all graphs for which there are eigenvectors of the graph Laplacian having all their components in {-1,+1} or {-1,0,+ 1}. Graphs having eigenvectors with components in {-1,+1} are called bivalent and are shown to be the regular bipartite graphs and their extensions obtained by adding edges between vertices with the same value for the given eigenvector. Graphs with eigenvectors with components in {-1,0,+ 1} are called trivalent and are shown to be soft-regular graphs -graphs such that vertices associated with non-zero components have the same degree- and their extensions via some transformations.

We study the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of the vanishing ideal over a bipartite graph endowed with a decomposition of its edge set. We prove that, under certain conditions, the regularity of the vanishing ideal over a bipartite graph obtained from a graph by attaching a path of length $\ell$ increases by $\lfloor \frac{\ell}{2}\rfloor (q-2)$, where $q$ is the order of the field of coefficients. We use this result to show that the regularity of the vanishing ideal over a bipartite graph, $G$, endowed with a weak nested ear decomposition is equal to $$\textstyle \frac{|V_G|+ ε-3}{2}(q-2),$$ where $ε$ is the number of even length ears and pendant edges of the decomposition. As a corollary, we show that for bipartite graph, the number of even length ears in a nested ear decomposition starting from a vertex is constant.

We study the eternal dominating number and the m-eternal dominating number on digraphs. We generalize known results on graphs to digraphs. We also consider the problem "oriented (m-)eternal domination", consisting in finding an orientation of a graph that minimizes its eternal dominating number. We prove that computing the oriented eternal dominating number is NP-hard and characterize the graphs for which the oriented m-eternal dominating number is 2. We also study these two parameters on trees, cycles, complete graphs, complete bipartite graphs, trivially perfect graphs and different kinds of grids and products of graphs.

We prove that any family $E_1, \ldots , E_{\lceil rn \rceil}$ of (not necessarily distinct) sets of edges in an $r$-uniform hypergraph, each having a fractional matching of size $n$, has a rainbow fractional matching of size $n$ (that is, a set of edges from distinct $E_i$'s which supports such a fractional matching). When the hypergraph is $r$-partite and $n$ is an integer, the number of sets needed goes down from $rn$ to $rn-r+1$. The problem solved here is a fractional version of the corresponding problem about rainbow matchings, which was solved by Drisko and by Aharoni and Berger in the case of bipartite graphs, but is open for general graphs as well as for $r$-partite hypergraphs with $r>2$. Our topological proof is based on a result of Kalai and Meshulam about a simplicial complex and a matroid on the same vertex set.
Decompositions into spanning rainbow structures

A subgraph of an edge-coloured graph is called rainbow if all its edges have distinct colours. The study of rainbow subgraphs goes back more than two hundred years to the work of Euler on Latin squares and has been the focus of extensive research ever since. Euler posed a problem equivalent to finding properly $n$-edge-coloured complete bipartite graphs $K_{n,n}$ which can be decomposed into rainbow perfect matchings. While there are proper edge-colourings of $K_{n,n}$ without even a single rainbow perfect matching, the theme of this paper is to show that with some very weak additional constraints one can find many disjoint rainbow perfect matchings. In particular, we prove that if some fraction of the colour classes have at most $(1-o(1)) n$ edges then one can nearly-decompose the edges of $K_{n,n}$ into edge-disjoint perfect rainbow matchings. As an application of this, we establish in a very strong form a conjecture of Akbari and Alipour and asymptotically prove a conjecture of Barat and Nagy. Both these conjectures concern rainbow perfect matchings in edge-colourings of $K_{n,n}$ with quadratically many colours.
Using our techniques, we also prove a number of results on near-decompositions of graphs into other rainbow structures like Hamiltonian cycles and spanning trees. Most notably, we prove that any properly coloured complete graph can be nearly-decomposed into spanning rainbow trees. This asymptotically proves the Brualdi-Hollingsworth and Kaneko-Kano-Suzuki conjectures which predict that a perfect decomposition should exist under the same assumptions.
Structure of Cubic Lehman Matrices

A pair $(A,B)$ of square $(0,1)$-matrices is called a \emph{Lehman pair} if $AB^T=J+kI$ for some integer $k\in\{-1,1,2,3,\ldots\}$. In this case $A$ and $B$ are called \emph{Lehman matrices}. This terminology arises because Lehman showed that the rows with the fewest ones in any non-degenerate minimally nonideal (mni) matrix $M$ form a square Lehman submatrix of $M$. Lehman matrices with $k=-1$ are essentially equivalent to \emph{partitionable graphs} (also known as $(α,ω)$-graphs), so have been heavily studied as part of attempts to directly classify minimal imperfect graphs. In this paper, we view a Lehman matrix as the bipartite adjacency matrix of a regular bipartite graph, focusing in particular on the case where the graph is cubic. From this perspective, we identify two constructions that generate cubic Lehman graphs from smaller Lehman graphs. The most prolific of these constructions involves repeatedly replacing suitable pairs of edges with a particular $6$-vertex subgraph that we call a $3$-rung ladder segment. Two decades ago, Lütolf \& Margot initiated a computational study of mni matrices and constructed a catalogue containing (among other things) a listing of all cubic Lehman matrices with $k =1$ of order up to $17 \times 17$. We verify their catalogue (which has just one omission), and extend the computational results to $20 \times 20$ matrices. Of the $908$ cubic Lehman matrices (with $k=1$) of order up to $20 \times 20$, only two do not arise from our $3$-rung ladder construction. However these exceptions can be derived from our second construction, and so our two constructions cover all known cubic Lehman matrices with $k=1$.
Perfect Matchings in Random Subgraphs of Regular Bipartite Graphs

Consider the random process in which the edges of a graph $G$ are added one by one in a random order. A classical result states that if $G$ is the complete graph $K_{2n}$ or the complete bipartite graph $K_{n,n}$, then typically a perfect matching appears at the moment at which the last isolated vertex disappears. We extend this result to arbitrary $k$-regular bipartite graphs $G$ on $2n$ vertices for all $k = ω\left( \frac{n}{\log^{1/3} n} \right)$.
Surprisingly, this is not the case for smaller values of $k$. Using a construction due to Goel, Kapralov and Khanna, we show that there exist bipartite $k$-regular graphs in which the last isolated vertex disappears long before a perfect matching appears.

A spanning tree of a graph is a connected subgraph on all vertices with the minimum number of edges. The number of spanning trees in a graph $G$ is given by Matrix Tree Theorem in terms of principal minors of Laplacian matrix of $G$. We show a similar combinatorial interpretation for principal minors of signless Laplacian $Q$. We also prove that the number of odd cycles in $G$ is less than or equal to $\frac{\det(Q)}{4}$, where the equality holds if and only if $G$ is a bipartite graph or an odd-unicyclic graph.

Settling Kahn's conjecture (2001), we prove the following upper bound on the number $i(G)$ of independent sets in a graph $G$ without isolated vertices: \[ i(G) \le \prod_{uv \in E(G)} i(K_{d_u,d_v})^{1/(d_u d_v)}, \] where $d_u$ is the degree of vertex $u$ in $G$. Equality occurs when $G$ is a disjoint union of complete bipartite graphs. The inequality was previously proved for regular graphs by Kahn and Zhao.
We also prove an analogous tight lower bound: \[ i(G) \ge \prod_{v \in V(G)} i(K_{d_v+1})^{1/(d_v + 1)}, \] where equality occurs for $G$ a disjoint union of cliques. More generally, we prove bounds on the weighted versions of these quantities, i.e., the independent set polynomial, or equivalently the partition function of the hard-core model with a given fugacity on a graph.

A hypergraph is said to be $1$-Sperner if for every two hyperedges the smallest of their two set differences is of size one. We present several applications of $1$-Sperner hypergraphs and their structure to graphs. In particular, we consider the classical characterizations of threshold and domishold graphs and use them to obtain further characterizations of these classes in terms of $1$-Spernerness, thresholdness, and $2$-asummability of their vertex cover, clique, dominating set, and closed neighborhood hypergraphs. Furthermore, we apply a decomposition property of $1$-Sperner hypergraphs to derive decomposition theorems for two classes of split graphs, a class of bipartite graphs, and a class of cobipartite graphs. These decomposition theorems are based on certain matrix partitions of the corresponding graphs, giving rise to new classes of graphs of bounded clique-width and new polynomially solvable cases of several domination problems.
