A Method to Construct $1$-Rotational Factorizations of Complete Graphs and Solutions to the Oberwolfach Problem

The concept of a $1$-rotational factorization of a complete graph under a finite group $G$ was studied in detail by Buratti and Rinaldi. They found that if $G$ admits a $1$-rotational $2$-factorization, then the involutions of $G$ are pairwise conjugate. We extend their result by showing that if a finite group $G$ admits a $1$-rotational $k=2^nm$-factorization where $n\geq 1$, and $m$ is odd, then $G$ has at most $m(2^n-1)$ conjugacy classes containing involutions. Also, we show that if $G$ has exactly $m(2^n-1)$ conjugacy classes containing involutions, then the product of a central involution with an involution in one conjugacy class yields an involution in a different conjugacy class. We then demonstrate a method of constructing a $1$-rotational $2n$-factorization under $G \times \mathbb{Z}_n$ given a $1$-rotational $2$-factorization under a finite group $G$. This construction, given a $1$-rotational solution to the Oberwolfach problem $OP(a_{\infty},a_1, a_2 \cdots, a_n)$, allows us to find a solution to $OP(2a_{\infty}-1,^2a_1, ^2a_2\cdots, ^2a_n)$ when the $a_i$'s are even ($i \neq \infty$), and $OP(p(a_{\infty}-1)+1, ^pa_1, ^pa_2 \cdots, ^pa_n)$ when $p$ is an odd prime, with no restrictions on the $a_i$'s.
Explicit Boij-Soderberg theory of ideals from a graph isomorphism reduction
In the origins of complexity theory Booth and Lueker showed that the question of whether two graphs are isomorphic or not can be reduced to the special case of chordal graphs. To prove that, they defined a transformation from graphs G to chordal graphs BL(G). The projective resolutions of the associated edge ideals is manageable and we investigate to what extent their Betti tables also tell non-isomorphic graphs apart. It turns out that the coefficients describing the decompositions of Betti tables into pure diagrams in Boij-Soderberg theory are much more explicit than the Betti tables themselves, and they are expressed in terms of classical statistics of the graph G.

The chromatic number of a graph $G$, denoted by $χ(G)$, is the minimum $k$ such that $G$ admits a $k$-coloring of its vertex set in such a way that each color class is an independent set (a set of pairwise non-adjacent vertices). The dichromatic number of a digraph $D$, denoted by $χ_A(D)$, is the minimum $k$ such that $D$ admits a $k$-coloring of its vertex set in such a way that each color class is acyclic.
In 1976, Bondy proved that the chromatic number of a digraph $D$ is at most its circumference, the length of a longest cycle.
Given a digraph $D$, we will construct three different graphs whose chromatic numbers bound $χ_A(D)$.
Moreover, we prove: i) for integers $k\geq 2$, $s\geq 1$ and $r_1, \ldots, r_s$ with $k\geq r_i\geq 0$ and $r_i\neq 1$ for each $i\in[s]$, that if all cycles in $D$ have length $r$ modulo $k$ for some $r\in\{r_1,\ldots,r_s\}$, then $χ_A(D)\leq 2s+1$; ii) if $D$ has girth $g$ and there are integers $k$ and $p$, with $k\geq g-1\geq p\geq 1$ such that $D$ contains no cycle of length $r$ modulo $\lceil \frac{k}{p} \rceil p$ for each $r\in \{-p+2,\ldots,0,\ldots,p\}$, then $χ_A (D)\leq \lceil \frac{k}{p} \rceil$; iii) if $D$ has girth $g$, the length of a shortest cycle, and circumference $c$, then $χ_A(D)\leq \lceil \frac{c-1}{g-1} \rceil +1$, which improves, substantially, the bound proposed by Bondy. Our results show that if we have more information about the lengths of cycles in a digraph, then we can improve the bounds for the dichromatic number known until now.

We prove that if the edges of a graph G can be colored blue or red in such a way that every vertex belongs to a monochromatic k-clique of each color, then G has at least 4(k-1) vertices. This confirms a conjecture of Bucic, Lidicky, Long, and Wagner (arXiv:1805.11278[math.CO]) and thereby solves the 2-dimensional case of their problem about partitions of discrete boxes with the k-piercing property. We also characterize the case of equality in our result.
On orthogonal matrices with zero diagonal

We consider real orthogonal $n\times n$ matrices whose diagonal entries are zero and off-diagonal entries nonzero, which we refer to as $\mathrm{OMZD}(n)$. We show that there exists an $\mathrm{OMZD}(n)$ if and only if $n\neq 1,\ 3$, and that a symmetric $\mathrm{OMZD}(n)$ exists if and only if $n$ is even and $n\neq 4$. We also give a construction of $\mathrm{OMZD}(n)$ obtained from doubly regular tournaments. Finally, we apply our results to determine the minimum number of distinct eigenvalues of matrices associated with some families of graphs, and consider the related notion of orthogonal matrices with partially-zero diagonal.
Semigroup-valued metric spaces
The structural Ramsey theory is a field on the boundary of combinatorics and model theory with deep connections to topological dynamics. Most of the known Ramsey classes in finite binary symmetric relational language can be shown to be Ramsey by utilizing a variant of the shortest path completion (e.g. Sauer's $S$-metric spaces, Conant's generalised metric spaces, Braunfeld's $Λ$-ultrametric spaces or Cherlin's metrically homogeneous graphs). In this thesis we explore the limits of the shortest path completion. We offer a unifying framework --- semigroup-valued metric spaces --- for all the aforementioned Ramsey classes and study their Ramsey expansions and EPPA (the extension property for partial automorphisms). Our results can be seen as evidence for the importance of studying the completion problem for amalgamation classes and have some further applications (such as the stationary independence relation).
As a corollary of our general theorems, we reprove results of Hubička and Nešetřil on Sauer's $S$-metric spaces, results of Hubčka, Nešetřil and the author on Conant's generalised metric spaces, Braunfeld's results on $Λ$-ultrametric spaces and the results of Aranda et al. on Cherlin's primitive 3-constrained metrically homogeneous graphs. We also solve several open problems such as EPPA for $Λ$-ultrametric spaces, $S$-metric spaces or Conant's generalised metric spaces.
Our framework seems to be universal enough that we conjecture that every primitive strong amalgamation class of complete edge-labelled graphs with finitely many labels is in fact a class of semigroup-valued metric spaces.

Given integers $r$ and $b$ with $1 \leq b \leq r$, a finite simple connected graph $G$ for which ${\rm reg}(S/I(G)) = r$ and the number of extremal Betti numbers of $S/I(G)$ is equal to $b$ will be constructed.
On $s$-distance-transitive graphs
Distance-regular graphs have many beautiful combinatorial properties. Distance-transitive graphs have very strong symmetries, and they are distance-regular, i.e. distance-transitivity implies distance-regularity. In this paper, we give similar results, i.e. for special $s$ and graphs with other restrictions we show that $s$-distance-transitivity implies distance-regularity.

With an eye towards studying curve systems on low-complexity surfaces, we introduce and analyze the $k$-Farey graphs $\mathcal{F}_k$ and $\mathcal{F}_{\leqslant k}$, two natural variants of the Farey graph in which we relax the edge condition to indicate intersection number $=k$ or $\le k$, respectively.
The former, $\mathcal{F}_k$, is disconnected when $k>1$. In fact, we find that the number of connected components is infinite if and only if $k$ is not a prime power. Moreover, we find that each component of $\mathcal{F}_k$ is an infinite-valence tree whenever $k$ is even, and $\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{F}_k)$ is uncountable for $k>1$.
As for $\mathcal{F}_{\leqslant k}$, Agol obtained an upper bound of $1+\min\{p:p\text{ is a prime}>k\}$ for both chromatic and clique numbers, and observed that this is an equality when $k$ is either one or two less than a prime. We add to this list the values of $k$ that are three less than a prime equivalent to $11\ (\mathrm{mod}\ 12)$, and we show computer-assisted computations of many values of $k$ for which equality fails.
Local Properties via Color Energy Graphs and Forbidden Configurations

The local properties problem of Erdős and Shelah generalizes many Ramsey problems and some distinct distances problems. In this work, we derive a variety of new bounds for the local properties problem and its variants. We do this by continuing to develop the color energy technique --- a variant of the concept of additive energy from Additive Combinatorics. In particular, we generalize the concept of color energy to higher color energies, and combine these with Extremal Graph Theory results about graphs with no cycles or subdivisions of size $k$.

In 1963, Anton Kotzig conjectured that for each $n \geq 2$ the complete graph $K_{2n}$ has a perfect one-factorisation (i.e., a decomposition into perfect matchings such that each pair of perfect matchings of the decomposition induces a Hamilton cycle). We affirmatively settle the smallest unresolved case for this conjecture.
Total mixed domination in graphs

For a graph $G=(V,E)$, we call a subset $ S\subseteq V \cup E$ a total mixed dominating set of $G$ if each element of $V \cup E$ is either adjacent or incident to an element of $S$, and the total mixed domination number $γ_{tm}(G)$ of $G$ is the minimum cardinality of a total mixed dominating set of $G$. In this paper, we initiate to study the total mixed domination number of a connected graph by giving some tight bounds in terms of some parameters such as order and total domination numbers of the graph and its line graph. Then we discuss on the relation between total mixed domination number of a graph and its diameter. Studing of this number in trees is our next work. Also we show that the total mixed domination number of a graph is equale to the total domination number of a graph which is obtained by the graph. Giving the total mixed domination numbers of some special graphs is our last work.
Separation profiles of graphs of fractals

We continue the exploration of the relationship between conformal dimension and the separation profile by computing the separation of families of spheres in hyperbolic graphs whose boundaries are standard Sierpiński carpets and Menger sponges. In all cases, we show that the separation of these spheres is $n^{\frac{d-1}{d}}$ for some $d$ which is strictly smaller than the conformal dimension, in contrast to the case of rank 1 symmetric spaces of dimension $\geq 3$. The value of $d$ obtained naturally corresponds to a previously known lower bound on the conformal dimension of the associated fractal.

We prove that a minor-closed class of graphs has bounded layered pathwidth if and only if some apex-forest is not in the class. This generalises a theorem of Robertson and Seymour, which says that a minor-closed class of graphs has bounded pathwidth if and only if some forest is not in the class.
Ordered Size Ramsey Number of Paths

An ordered graph is a simple graph with an ordering on its vertices. Define the ordered path $P_n$ to be the monotone increasing path with $n$ edges. The ordered size Ramsey number $\tilde{r}(P_r,P_s)$ is the minimum number $m$ for which there exists an ordered graph $H$ with $m$ edges such that every two-coloring of the edges of $H$ contains a red copy of $P_r$ or a blue copy of $P_s$. For $2\leq r\leq s$, we show $\frac{1}{8}r^2s\leq \tilde{r}(P_r,P_s)\leq Cr^2s(\log s)^3$, where $C>0$ is an absolute constant. This problem is motivated by the recent results of Bucić-Letzter-Sudakov and Letzter-Sudakov for oriented graphs.

Let $T$ be a tree, a vertex of degree one is called a leaf. The set of leaves of $T$ is denoted by $Leaf(T)$. The subtree $T-Leaf(T)$ of $T$ is called the stem of $T$ and denoted by $Stem(T).$ In this note, we give a sharp sufficient condition to show that a $K_{1,t}-$free graph has a spanning tree whose stem has a few leaves. By applying the main result, we give improvements of previous related results.

For each $n,r \geq 0$, let $KG(n,r)$ denote the Kneser Graph; that whose vertices are labeled by $r$-element subsets of $n$, and whose edges indicate that the corresponding subsets are disjoint. Fixing $r$ and allowing $n$ to vary, one obtains a family of nested graphs, each equipped with a natural action by a symmetric group $S_n$, such that these actions are compatible. Collections of graphs of this type are common in algebraic combinatorics and include families such as the Johnson Graphs, Crown Graphs and Rook Graphs. In previous work, the authors systematically studied families of this type using the language of representation stability and FI-modules. In that work, it is shown that such families of graphs exhibit a large variety of asymptotic regular behaviors.
The present work applies the theory developed in that previous work, later refined in work of the authors and Speyer, to study random walks on the graphs of such families. We show that the moments of hitting times exhibit rational function behavior asymptotically. By consequence we conclude similar facts about the entries of the discrete Green's functions, as defined by Chung and Yau. Finally, we illustrate how the algebro-combinatorial structure of the graphs in these families give bounds on the mixing times of random walks on those graphs. We suggest some possible directions for future study, including of the appearance, or not, of the cut-off phenomenon, originally presented by Diaconis.
On the complexity of color-avoiding site and bond percolation

The mathematical analysis of robustness and error-tolerance of complex networks has been in the center of research interest. On the other hand, little work has been done when the attack-tolerance of the vertices or edges are not independent but certain classes of vertices or edges share a mutual vulnerability. In this study, we consider a graph and we assign colors to the vertices or edges, where the color-classes correspond to the shared vulnerabilities. An important problem is to find robustly connected vertex sets: nodes that remain connected to each other by paths providing any type of error (i.e. erasing any vertices or edges of the given color). This is also known as color-avoiding percolation. In this paper, we study various possible modeling approaches of shared vulnerabilities, we analyze the computational complexity of finding the robustly (color-avoiding) connected components. We find that the presented approaches differ significantly regarding their complexity.

In this paper we classify complex Hadamard matrices contained in the Bose-Mesner algebra of nonsymmetric 3-class association schemes. As a consequence of our classification, we have two infinite families and some small examples of complex Hadamard matrices contained in the Bose-Mesner algebra of a self-dual fission of a complete multipartite graph.
