A note on independence number, connectivity and $k$-ended tree
A $k$-ended tree is a tree with at most $k$ leaves. In this note, we give a simple proof for the following theorem. Let $G$ be a connected graph and $k$ be an integer ($k\geq 2$). Let $S$ be a vertex subset of $G$ such that $α_{G}(S) \leq k + κ_{G}(S)- 1.$ Then, $G$ has a $k$-ended tree which covers $S.$ Moreover, the condition is sharp.
On a Diagonal Conjecture for Classical Ramsey Numbers

Let $R(k_1, \cdots, k_r)$ denote the classical $r$-color Ramsey number for integers $k_i \ge 2$. The Diagonal Conjecture (DC) for classical Ramsey numbers poses that if $k_1, \cdots, k_r$ are integers no smaller than 3 and $k_{r-1} \leq k_r$, then $R(k_1, \cdots, k_{r-2}, k_{r-1}-1, k_r +1) \leq R(k_1, \cdots, k_r)$. We obtain some implications of this conjecture, present evidence for its validity, and discuss related problems.
Let $R_r(k)$ stand for the $r$-color Ramsey number $R(k, \cdots, k)$. It is known that $\lim_{r \rightarrow \infty} R_r(3)^{1/r}$ exists, either finite or infinite, the latter conjectured by Erdős. This limit is related to the Shannon capacity of complements of $K_3$-free graphs. We prove that if DC holds, and $\lim_{r \rightarrow \infty} R_r(3)^{1/r}$ is finite, then $\lim_{r \rightarrow \infty} R_r(k)^{1/r}$ is finite for every integer $k \geq 3$.
Coherent systems of probability measures on graphs for representations of free Frobenius towers
First formally defined by Borodin and Olshanski, a coherent system on a graded graph is a sequence of probability measures which respect the action of certain down/up transition functions between graded components. In one common example of such a construction, each measure is the Plancherel measure for the symmetric group $S_{n}$ and the down transition function is induced from the inclusions $S_{n} \hookrightarrow S_{n+1}$.
In this paper we generalize the above framework to the case where $\{A_n\}_{n \geq 0}$ is any free Frobenius tower and $A_n$ is no longer assumed to be semisimple. In particular, we describe two coherent systems on graded graphs defined by the representation theory of $\{A_n\}_{n \geq 0}$ and connect one of these systems to a family of central elements of $\{A_n\}_{n \geq 0}$. When the algebras $\{A_n\}_{n \geq 0}$ are not semisimple, the resulting coherent systems reflect the duality between simple $A_n$-modules and indecomposable projective $A_n$-modules.

A $labeling$ of a digraph $D$ with $m$ arcs is a bijection from the set of arcs of $D$ to $\{1,2,\ldots,m\}$. A labeling of $D$ is $antimagic$ if no two vertices in $D$ have the same vertex-sum, where the vertex-sum of a vertex $u \in V(D)$ for a labeling is the sum of labels of all arcs entering $u$ minus the sum of labels of all arcs leaving $u$. An antimagic orientation $D$ of a graph $G$ is $antimagic$ if $D$ has an antimagic labeling. Hefetz, M$\ddot{u}$tze and Schwartz in [J. Graph Theory 64(2010)219-232] raised the question: Does every graph admits an antimagic orientation? It had been proved that for any integer $d$, every 2$d$-regular graph with at most two odd components has an antimagic orientation. In this paper, we consider the 2$d$-regular graph with many odd components. We show that every 2$d$-regular graph with any odd components has an antimagic orientation provide each odd component with enough order.

In this paper, we study the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operators on infinite subgraphs of graphs. For an infinite graph, we prove Cheeger-type estimates for the bottom spectrum of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator, and the higher order Cheeger estimates for higher order eigenvalues of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator.

The power graph $\mathcal{P}(G)$ of a given finite group $G$ is the simple undirected graph whose vertices are the elements of $G$, in which two distinct vertices are adjacent if and only if one of them can be obtained as an integral power of the other. The vertex connectivity $κ(\mathcal{P}(G))$ of $\mathcal{P}(G)$ is the minimum number of vertices which need to be removed from $G$ so that the induced subgraph of $\mathcal{P}(G)$ on the remaining vertices is disconnected or has only one vertex. For a positive integer $n$, let $C_n$ be the cyclic group of order $n$. Suppose that the prime power decomposition of $n$ is given by $n =p_1^{n_1}p_2^{n_2}\cdots p_r^{n_r}$, where $r\geq 1$, $n_1,n_2,\ldots, n_r$ are positive integers and $p_1,p_2,\ldots,p_r$ are prime numbers with $p_1<p_2<\cdots <p_r$. The vertex connectivity $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ of $\mathcal{P}(C_n)$ is known for $r\leq 3$, see \cite{panda, cps}. In this paper, for $r\geq 4$, we give a new upper bound for $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ and determine $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ when $n_r\geq 2$. We also determine $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ when $n$ is a product of distinct prime numbers.
Spectral gap bounds for the simplicial Laplacian and an application to random complexes

In this article, we derive two spectral gap bounds for the reduced Laplacian of a general simplicial complex. Our two bounds are proven by comparing a simplicial complex in two different ways with a larger complex and with the corresponding clique complex respectively. Both of these bounds generalize the result of Aharoni et al. (2005) \cite{ABM} which is valid only for clique complexes. As an application, we investigate the thresholds for vanishing of cohomology of the neighborhood complex of the Erdös-Rényi random graph. We improve the upper bound derived in Kahle (2007) \cite{kahle} by a logarithmic factor using our spectral gap bounds and we also improve the lower bound via finer probabilistic estimates than those in Kahle (2007) \cite{kahle}.

A note on the size Ramsey number of powers of paths
Let $r\geq3$ be an integer such that $r-2$ is a prime power and let $H$ be a connected graph on $n$ vertices with average degree at least $d$ and $α(H)\leqβn$, where $0<β<1$ is a constant. We prove that the size Ramsey number \[ \hat{R}({H};r) > \frac{nd}{2}{(r - 2)^2} - C\sqrt n \] for all sufficiently large $n$, where $C$ is a constant depending only on $r$ and $d$. In particular, for integers $k\ge1$, and $r\ge3$ such that $r-2$ is a prime power, we have that there exists a constant $C$ depending only on $r$ and $d$ such that $\hat{R}(P_{n}^{k}; r)> kn{(r - 2)^2}-C\sqrt n -\frac{{({k^2} + k)}}{2}{(r - 2)^2}$ for all sufficiently large $n$, where $P_{n}^{k}$ is the $kth$ power of $P_n$. We also prove that $\hat{R}(P_n,P_n,P_n)<764.1n$ for sufficiently large $n$. This result improves some results of Dudek and Prałat (\emph{SIAM J. Discrete Math.}, 31 (2017), 2079--2092 and \emph{Electron. J. Combin.}, 25 (2018), no.3, # P3.35).
Exact distance graphs of product graphs
Given a graph $G$, the exact distance-$p$ graph $G^{[\natural p]}$ has $V(G)$ as its vertex set, and two vertices are adjacent whenever the distance between them in $G$ equals $p$. We present formulas describing the structure of exact distance-$p$ graphs of the Cartesian, the strong, and the lexicographic product. We prove such formulas for the exact distance-$2$ graphs of direct products of graphs. We also consider infinite grids and some other product structures. We characterize the products of graphs of which exact distance graphs are connected. The exact distance-$p$ graphs of hypercubes $Q_n$ are also studied. As these graphs contain generalized Johnson graphs as induced subgraphs, we use some known and find some new constructions of their colorings. These constructions are applied for colorings of the exact distance-$p$ graphs of hypercubes with the focus on the chromatic number of $Q_{n}^{[\natural p]}$ for $p\in \{n-2,n-3,n-4\}$.

The classical global criteria for the existence of Hamilton cycles only apply to graphs with large edge density and small diameter. In a series of papers Asratian and Khachatryan developed local criteria for the existence of Hamilton cycles in finite connected graphs, which are analogues of the classical global criteria due to Dirac (1952), Ore (1960), Jung (1978), and Nash-Williams (1971). The idea was to show that the global concept of Hamiltonicity can, under rather general conditions, be captured by local phenomena, using the structure of balls of small radii. (The ball of radius $r$ centered at a vertex $u$ is a subgraph of $G$ induced by the set of vertices whose distances from $u$ do not exceed $r$.) Such results are called localization theorems and present a possibility to extend known classes of finite Hamiltonian graphs.
In this paper we formulate a general approach for finding localization theorems and use this approach to formulate local analogues of well-known results of Bauer et al. (1989), Bondy (1980), Häggkvist and Nicoghossian (1981), and Moon and Moser (1963). Finally we extend two of our results to infinite locally finite graphs and show that they guarantee the existence of Hamiltonian curves, introduced by Kündgen, Li and Thomassen (2017).
Cops and Robbers on Toroidal Chess Graphs
We investigate multiple variants of the game Cops and Robbers. Playing it on an $n \times n$ toroidal chess graph, the game is varied by defining moves for cops and robbers differently, always mimicking moves of certain chess pieces. In these cases, the cop number is completely determined.

We introduce a connection between a near-term quantum computing device, specifically a Gaussian boson sampler, and the graph isomorphism problem. We propose a scheme where graphs are encoded into quantum states of light, whose properties are then probed with photon-number-resolving detectors. We prove that the probabilities of different photon-detection events in this setup can be combined to give a complete set of graph invariants. Two graphs are isomorphic if and only if their detection probabilities are equivalent. We present additional ways that the measurement probabilities can be combined or coarse-grained to make experimental tests more amenable. We benchmark these methods with numerical simulations on the Titan supercomputer for several graph families: pairs of isospectral nonisomorphic graphs, isospectral regular graphs, and strongly regular graphs.
On the tree cover number and the positive semidefinite maximum nullity of a graph
For a simple graph $G=(V,E),$ let $\mathcal{S}_+(G)$ denote the set of real positive semidefinite matrices $A=(a_{ij})$ such that $a_{ij}\neq 0$ if $\{i,j\}\in E$ and $a_{ij}=0$ if $\{i,j\}\notin E$. The maximum positive semidefinite nullity of $G$, denoted $\operatorname{M}_+(G),$ is $\max\{\operatorname{null}(A)|A\in \mathcal{S}_+(G)\}.$ A tree cover of $G$ is a collection of vertex-disjoint simple trees occurring as induced subgraphs of $G$ that cover all the vertices of $G$. The tree cover number of $G$, denoted $T(G)$, is the cardinality of a minimum tree cover. It is known that the tree cover number of a graph and the maximum positive semidefinite nullity of a graph are equal for outerplanar graphs, and it was conjectured in 2011 that $T(G)\leq M_+(G)$ for all graphs [Barioli et al., Minimum semidefinite rank of outerplanar graphs and the tree cover number, $ Elec. J. Lin. Alg.,$ 2011]. We show that the conjecture is true for certain graph families. Furthermore, we prove bounds on $T(G)$ to show that if $G$ is a connected outerplanar graph on $n\geq 2$ vertices, then $\operatorname{M}_+(G)=T(G)\leq \left\lceil\frac{n}{2}\right\rceil$, and if $G$ is a connected outerplanar graph on $n\geq 6$ vertices with no three or four cycle, then $\operatorname{M}_+(G)=T(G)\leq \frac{n}{3}$. We also characterize connected outerplanar graphs with $\operatorname{M}_+(G)=T(G)=\left\lceil\frac{n}{2}\right\rceil.$
More on rainbow disconnection in graphs

Let $G$ be a nontrivial edge-colored connected graph. An edge-cut $R$ of $G$ is called a rainbow cut if no two edges of it are colored the same. An edge-colored graph $G$ is rainbow disconnected if for every two vertices $u$ and $v$, there exists a $u-v$ rainbow cut. For a connected graph $G$, the rainbow disconnection number of $G$, denoted by $rd(G)$, is defined as the smallest number of colors that are needed in order to make $G$ rainbow disconnected. In this paper, we first solve a conjecture that determines the maximum size of a connected graph $G$ of order $n$ with $rd(G) = k$ for given integers $k$ and $n$ with $1\leq k\leq n-1$, where $n$ is odd, posed by Chartrand et al. in \cite{CDHHZ}. Secondly, we discuss bounds of the rainbow disconnection numbers for complete multipartite graphs, critical graphs, minimal graphs with respect to chromatic index and regular graphs, and give the rainbow disconnection numbers for several special graphs. Finally, we get the Nordhaus-Gaddum-type theorem for the rainbow disconnection number of graphs. We prove that if $G$ and $\overline{G}$ are both connected, then $n-2 \leq rd(G)+rd(\overline{G})\leq 2n-5$ and $n-3\leq rd(G)\cdot rd(\overline{G})\leq (n-2)(n-3)$. Furthermore, examples are given to show that the upper bounds are sharp for $n\geq 6$, and the lower bounds are sharp when $G=\overline{G}=P_4$.

Let $Σ$ be a signed graph where two edges joining the same pair of vertices with opposite signs are allowed. The zero-free chromatic number $χ^*(Σ)$ of $Σ$ is the minimum even integer $2k$ such that $G$ admits a proper coloring $f\colon\,V(Σ)\mapsto \{\pm 1,\pm 2,\ldots,\pm k\}$. The zero-free list chromatic number $χ^*_l(Σ)$ is the list version of zero-free chromatic number. $Σ$ is called zero-free chromatic-choosable if $χ^*_l(Σ)=χ^*(Σ)$. We show that if $Σ$ has at most $χ^*(Σ)+1$ vertices then $Σ$ is zero-free chromatic-choosable. This result strengthens Noel-Reed-Wu Theorem which states that every graph $G$ with at most $2χ(G)+1$ vertices is chromatic-choosable, where $χ(G)$ is the chromatic number of $G$.
Connectivity of inhomogeneous random K-out graphs

We propose inhomogeneous random K-out graphs $\mathbb{H}(n; \pmbμ, \pmb{K}_n)$, where each of the $n$ nodes is assigned to one of $r$ classes independently with a probability distribution $\pmbμ = \{μ_1, \ldots, μ_r\}$. In particular, each node is classified as class-$i$ with probability $μ_i>0$, independently. Each class-$i$ node selects $K_{i,n}$ distinct nodes uniformly at random from among all other nodes. A pair of nodes are adjacent in $\mathbb{H}(n; \pmbμ, \pmb{K}_n)$ if at least one selects the other. Without loss of generality, we assume that $K_{1,n} \leq K_{2,n} \leq \ldots \leq K_{r,n}$. Earlier results on homogeneous random K-out graphs $\mathbb{H}(n; K_n)$, where all nodes select the same number $K$ of other nodes, reveal that $\mathbb{H}(n; K_n)$ is connected with high probability (whp) if $K_n \geq 2$ which implies that $\mathbb{H}(n; \pmbμ, \pmb{K}_n)$ is connected whp if $K_{1,n} \geq 2$. In this paper, we investigate the connectivity of inhomogeneous random K-out graphs $\mathbb{H}(n; \pmbμ, \pmb{K}_n)$ for the special case when $K_{1,n}=1$, i.e., when each class-$1$ node selects only one other node. We show that $\mathbb{H}\left(n;\pmbμ,\pmb{K}_n\right)$ is connected whp if $K_{r,n}$ is chosen such that $\lim_{n \to \infty} K_{r,n} = \infty$. However, any bounded choice of the sequence $K_{r,n}$ gives a positive probability of $\mathbb{H}\left(n;\pmbμ,\pmb{K}_n\right)$ being not connected. Simulation results are provided to validate our results in the finite node regime.

Let $G$ be a finite group and let $H_1,H_2<G$ be two subgroups. In this paper, we are concerned with the bipartite graph whose vertices are $G/H_1\cup G/H_2$ and a coset $g_1H_1$ is connected with another coset $g_2H_2$ if and only if $g_1H_1\cap g_2 H_2\neq\varnothing$. The main result of the paper establishes the existence of such graphs with large girth and large spectral gap. Lubotzky, Manning and Wilton use such graphs to construct certain infinite groups of interest in geometric group theory.
Algorithmic Traversals of Infinite Graphs
A traversal of a connected graph is a linear ordering of its vertices all of whose initial segments induce connected subgraphs. Traversals, and their refinements such as breadth-first and depth-first traversals, are computed by various graph searching algorithms. We extend the theory of generic search and breadth-first search from finite graphs to wellordered infinite graphs, recovering the notion of "search trees" in this context. We also prove tight upper bounds on the extent to which graph search and breadth-first search can modify the order type of the original graph, as well as characterize the traversals computed by these algorithms as lexicographically minimal.

For a graph $G$, let $f(G)$ denote the size of the maximum cut in $G$. The problem of estimating $f(G)$ as a function of the number of vertices and edges of $G$ has a long history and was extensively studied in the last fifty years. In this paper we propose an approach, based on semidefinite programming (SDP), to prove lower bounds on $f(G)$. We use this approach to find large cuts in graphs with few triangles and in $K_r$-free graphs.
