On the Structure of 3D Queen Domination
We study the domination number $γ(Q_n^3)$ of the three-dimensional $n \times n \times n$ queen graph. The main result is a stratified theorem computing, for each position type -- corner, edge, face, or interior -- the number of inner-core vertices dominated by a queen, and showing in particular that interior placements dominate strictly more core cells than boundary placements. This yields a symmetry-reduction principle via the octahedral group and complements the standard counting lower bound and layered upper bound, giving $γ(Q_n^3) = Θ(n^2)$. We also certify exact values for $n \leq 6$ via integer linear programming and independent verification.

Spectral Theory of the Toroidal 3D Queen Graph
We study the adjacency spectrum of the toroidal three-dimensional queen graph $G_n$ on $(\mathbb{Z}_n)^3$. Since $G_n$ is a Cayley graph on an abelian group, its adjacency matrix is diagonalized by Fourier characters. For each frequency $a\in(\mathbb{Z}_n)^3$, the corresponding eigenvalue is $λ(a)=nμ(a)-13$, where $μ(a)$ counts the queen directions orthogonal to $a$ modulo $n$. In the generic odd case, meaning $n$ odd with $3\nmid n$, the possible values of $μ(a)$ are exactly $0,1,2,3,4,$ and $13$, and each multiplicity is given by an explicit polynomial in $n$. The proof combines a geometric classification of frequency points by orthogonality type with two global counting identities.
On the number of 4-contractible edges in plane triangulations
In 2007, Ando and Egawa proved a theorem which provides a lower bound on the number of contractible edges preserving $4$-connectedness in $4$-connected graphs. In this paper, we refine their bounds, especially for the $4$-connected plane triangulations. In particular, we show that if $G$ is a $4$-connected plane triangulation of order at least $7$, then $G$ contains at least $|V_{\ge 5}|+2$ contractible edges preserving $4$-connectedness, where $V_{\ge 5}$ is the set of vertices of degree at least $5$. We also determine the extremal graphs.

A polynomial bound for the minimal excluded minors for a surface
As part of the graph minor project, Robertson and Seymour showed in 1990 that the class of graphs that can be embedded in a given surface can be characterized by a finite set of minimal excluded minors. However, their proof, because existential, provides no explicit information about these excluded minors. In 1993, Seymour established the first upper bound on the order of such minimal excluded minors. Very recently, Houdaigoui and Kawarabayashi improved this result by deriving a quasi-polynomial upper bound. Despite this progress, the gap between this bound and the known linear lower bound $Ω(g)$ (where $g$ denotes the genus) remains substantial. In particular, they conjectured that a polynomial upper bound should hold. In this paper, we confirm this conjecture by showing that the order of the minimal excluded minors for a surface of genus $g$ is $O(g^{8+\varepsilon})$ for every $\varepsilon >0$. This result significantly narrows the gap between the known lower and upper bounds, bringing the asymptotic behavior much closer to the conjectured optimum. Our approach introduces a new forbidden structure of minimal excluded minors. Let $G$ be a minimal excluded minor for a surface of Euler genus $g$. Houdaigoui and Kawarabayashi showed that $G$ contains $O(\log g)$ pairwise disjoint cycles that are contractible and nested in some embedding of $G$. We strengthen this result by proving a separator-based variant: for any contractible subgraph $H \subseteq G$ with a separator of size $s$ (with $H$ completely contained in one side), the subgraph $H$ contains $O(\log s)$ disjoint cycles that are contractible and nested in some embedding of $G$. This allows us to replace a genus-dependent bound with a separator-dependent one, which is the main new ingredient in deriving our polynomial bound.

A Note on Generalized ErdH{o}s-Rogers Problems
For a $k$-uniform hypergraph $F$ and positive integers $s$ and $N$, the generalized Erdős-Rogers function $f^{(k)}_{F,s}(N)$ denotes the largest integer $m$ such that every $K_s^{(k)}$-free $k$-graph on $N$ vertices contains an $F$-free induced subgraph on $m$ vertices. In particular, if $F = K^{(k)}_t$, then we write $f^{(k)}_{t,s}(N)$ for $f^{(k)}_{F,s}(N)$. Mubayi and Suk (\emph{J. London. Math. Soc. 2018}) conjectured that $f^{(4)}_{5,6}(N)=(\log \log N)^{Θ(1)}$. Motivated by this conjecture, we prove that $f^{(4)}_{5^{-},6}(N)=(\log\log N)^{Θ(1)}$, where $5^{-}$ denotes the $4$-graph obtained from $K_5^{(4)}$ by deleting one edge. Our proof combines a probabilistic construction of a $2$-coloring of pairs with a stepping-up construction and an analysis of multi-layer local extremum structures. Furthermore, we derive an upper bound for a more general Erdős-Rogers function, which implies the lower bound $r_4(6,n)\ge 2^{2^{cn^{1/2}}}$. By applying a variant of the Erdős-Hajnal stepping-up lemma due to Mubayi and Suk, we also slightly improve the lower bound for $r_k(k+2,n)$.
Sample compression schemes for balls in structurally sparse graphs
Sample compression schemes were defined by Littlestone and Warmuth (1986) as an abstraction of the structure underlying many learning algorithms. In a sample compression scheme, we are given a large sample of vertices of a fixed hypergraph with labels indicating the containment in some hyperedge. The task is to compress the sample in such a way that we can retrieve the labels of the original sample. The size of a sample compression scheme is the amount of information that is kept in the compression. Every hypergraph with a sample compression scheme of bounded size must have bounded VC-dimension. Conversely, Moran and Yehudayoff (J. ACM, 2016) showed that every hypergraph of bounded VC-dimension admits a sample compression scheme of bounded size. We study a specific class of hypergraphs emerging from balls in graphs. The schemes that we construct (contrary to the ones constructed by Moran and Yehudayoff) are \textit{proper}, meaning that we retrieve not only the labeling of the original sample but also a hyperedge (ball) consistent with the original labeling. First, we prove that for every graph $G$ of treewidth at most $t$, the hypergraph of balls in $G$ has a proper sample compression scheme of size $\mathcal{O}(t\log t)$; this is tight up to the logarithmic factor and improves the quadratic (improper) bound that follows from the result of Moran and Yehudayoff. Second, we prove an analogous result for graphs of cliquewidth at most $t$.

Cliques in graphs constructed from Strongly Orthogonal Subsets in exceptional root systems
Given a root system $R$, two roots are said to be \emph{strongly orthogonal} if neither their sum nor difference is a root. Gashi defined a family of graphs with vertices labelled by sums of $k$-element strongly orthogonal subsets of roots, and edges connect vertices whose difference is also a vertex. Gashi and the current authors established Erdős--Ko--Rado type results for graphs developed from Type $A$ root systems. In this paper, we study graphs developed from the exceptional root systems $G_2$, $F_4$, $E_6$, $E_7$, and $E_8$. We compute graph-theoretic invariants including regularity, connectivity, and clique numbers, and analyze clique structures with respect to sunflower properties. The automorphism group contains the Weyl group; we use these symmetries to obtain complete counts of maximum cliques and maximum sunflowers. Unlike type $A$, where all maximal cliques are sunflowers for large rank, sunflower cliques comprise at most 11\% of maximum cliques in the simply-laced exceptional types $E_6$, $E_7$, and $E_8$.

Efficient total coloring of cubic maps of girth 4
Let $2\le k\in\mathbb{Z}$. A total coloring of a $k$-regular simple graph via $k+1$ colors is an efficient total coloring if each color yields an efficient dominating set, where the 3-cube efficient domination condition applies to the restriction of each color class to the vertex set. Focus was set upon graphs of girth $k+1$ with efficient total colorings of finite simple cubic graphs $Γ$ of girth 4 built up from the 3-cube and leading to a conjecture that all of those colorings were obtained by means of four basic operations. In the present work, a fifth basic operation is found necessary in terms of combinatorial cubic maps $M(Γ)$ of which the graphs $Γ$ are their 1-skeletons. This takes to conjecturing that any simple cubic graph that is toroidally 3-edge-connected (defined in the work) and whose $\ell$-belts have $\ell\equiv 0$ mod 4 has an efficient total coloring.

Spectral Properties of Zero-Divisor Graphs of Truncated Polynomial Rings
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity and let $Z^{\ast}(R)$ denote the set of nonzero zero-divisors of $R$. The \emph{zero-divisor graph} $ \varGamma(R)$ is the simple graph with vertex set $V( \varGamma(R))=Z^{\ast}(R)$, where two distinct vertices$x,y\in Z^{\ast}(R)$ are adjacent if and only if $xy=0$ in $R$. In this paper we investigate the zero-divisor graph of the truncated polynomial ring $R=\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{c}\rangle,$ for $c\in\mathbb{N}.$ We determine the spectrum of the $A_α$-matrix associated with $ \varGamma(R)$, and, as special cases, explicitly obtain both the adjacency spectrum and the signless Laplacian spectrum of $ \varGamma(R)$. Furthermore, we prove that the Laplacian eigenvalues, as well as the distance eigenvalues, of these graphs are all integers.

Range of random $\mathbb Z$-homomorphisms on weak expanders
We prove that random $\mathbb{Z}$-homomorphisms on weakly expanding bipartite graphs exhibit a strong "flatness" phenomenon. Extending prior work of Peled, Samotij, and Yehudayoff for expanders, we first show that on any bipartite $(n, d, λ)$-graph with $λ\leq (1-δ)d$, a uniformly chosen $\mathbb{Z}$-homomorphism has a range at most $O(\log \log n)$ with high probability, which is tight up to a constant factor. This provides an affirmative answer to their question in the spectral setting. As a concrete application, we prove that a random $\mathbb{Z}$-homomorphism on the middle layers of the Hamming cube takes at most $5$ values with high probability. This shows that the $O(1)$-flatness for the full Hamming cube, proved by Kahn and Galvin, persists even when the rigid structural properties are relaxed.

The Quantum Walk Characteristic Polynomial Distinguishes All Strongly Regular Graphs of Prime Orde
Let $G$ be a strongly regular graph of prime order $p$ with connection degree $k \geq 6$. We prove that the \emph{quantum walk characteristic polynomial} $χ_q(G,λ) \coloneqq \det(λI - U_G)$, where $U_G$ is the coined quantum walk operator on $G$, completely determines $G$ up to isomorphism within the class of strongly regular graphs of the same order. The proof proceeds in three steps. First, we show that $U_G$ block-diagonalizes under the discrete Fourier transform over $\Z_p$, yielding $p$ blocks $U_G^{(j)}$ of size $k \times k$. Second, we prove an explicit formula \[ χ_q\!\bigl(U_G^{(j)}, λ\bigr) = (λ-1)^{(k-2)/2}(λ+1)^{(k-2)/2} \!\left(λ^2 - \tfrac{2\widehat{A}_G(j)}{k}\,λ+ 1\right), \] from which the Fourier coefficient $\widehat{A}_G(j)$ is recovered as the unique real part of an eigenvalue of $U_G^{(j)}$ distinct from $\pm 1$. Third, the inverse discrete Fourier transform recovers the connection set $S$ of $G$, and Turner's theorem (1967) identifies $G$ up to isomorphism. As a consequence, graph isomorphism is decidable in polynomial time within this class using the quantum walk spectrum, without resorting to the general quasi-polynomial algorithm of Babai (2016).

On expectations and variances in the hard-core model
The hard-core model can be used to understand the numbers of independent sets in graphs in extremal graph theory. The occupancy fraction, defined as the logarithmic derivative of the independence polynomial of a graph, is a key quantity in hard-core model. Davies \textit{et al.} (2017) established an upper bound on the occupancy fraction for $d$-regular graphs, and Perarnau and Perkins (2018) derived a corresponding bound on it for graphs with given girth. Inspired by their work, we provide the tight upper and lower bounds on occupancy fraction in $n$-vertex graphs with independence number $α$, extending the classical results on bounds for independence polynomials. We also prove a relevant conjecture posed by Davies \textit{et al.} (2025) to this topic.

(Even hole, triangle)-free graphs revisited
We revisit a classical paper about (even hole, triangle)-free graphs [Conforti, Cornuéjols, Kapoor and Vu\v sković, Triangle-free graphs that are signable without even holes, Journal of Graph Theory, 34(3), 204--220, 2000]. In fact, the previous study describes a more general class, the so called triangle-free odd signable graphs, and we further generalise the class to the (theta, triangle, wac)-free graphs (not worth defining in an abstract). We exhibit a stronger structure theorem, by precisely describing basic classes and separators. We prove that the separators preserve the treewidth and several properties. Some consequences are a recognition algorithm with running time $O(|V(G)|^4|E(G)|)$, a proof that the treewidth of graphs in the class is at most~4 (improving a previous bound of~5), and a simple criterion to decide if a graph in the class is planar.
Tree-independence number and forbidden induced subgraphs: excluding a $6$-vertex path and a $(2,t)$-biclique
We show that for every positive integer ${t \geq 2}$ there exists an integer $s$ such that every graph that contains no induced subgraph isomorphic to either the $6$-vertex path or the $(2,t)$-biclique, the complete bipartite graph $K_{2,t}$, has tree-independence number at most $s$. This result makes partial progress on a conjecture of Dallard, Krnc, Kwon, Milanič, Munaro, Štorgel, and Wiederrecht.

On Ramsey number of $K_{2,n}$ versus even cycles
For graphs $G$ and $H$, the Ramsey number $R(G,H)$ is the smallest integer $N$ such that every graph $Γ$ on $N$ vertices contains $G$ or its complement $\overlineΓ$ contains $H$ as a subgraph. In graph Ramsey theory, the star-cycle Ramsey number is well-studied throughout the years. Whereas the Ramsey number of $K_{2,n}$ versus cycle is challenging to determine due to increased structural complexity. In this article, we have obtained an exact value of the Ramsey number $R(K_{2,n}, C_{m})$ for even $m\in [n, 2n-4008]$ and $n\geq 4516$. In particular, we show that $$R(K_{1,n}, C_{m})= R(K_{2,n}, C_{m})$$ for all even $m\in [n, 2n-4008]$ and $n\geq 4516$. This leads to an interesting question: For fixed $t$, does there exist $n_0(t)\in \mathbb{N}$ such that $R(K_{1,n}, C_m)=R(K_{t,n}, C_m)$ for all $n \geq n_0(t)$ and for a given range of even $m$?

One can almost never hear the shape of a digraph
Kac raised the question `Can one hear the shape of a drum?' The answer is negative. On the other hand, one can hear the shape of a drum in the generic case. Haemers conjectured that almost all graphs are determined by their spectra, which can be regarded as a discrete version of Kac's question. Vu conjectured a similar phenomenon for symmetric $\pm 1$ matrices. The first main result of this paper shows that one can almost never hear the shape of a digraph by proving that almost all digraphs are not isomorphic to their reverse and almost all digraphs have trivial automorphism groups. This indicates that the real symmetric condition is vital in both Haemers' conjecture and Vu's conjecture. The second main result of this paper shows that almost all graphs of order $n$ have no cospectral mates with height $o(( n / \ln n)^{1/10})$, improving an earlier result on cospectral mates with fixed level.

Sufficient conditions for Hamiltonianity in terms of the Zeroth-order General Randić Index
For a (molecular) graph $G$ and any real number $α\ne 0$ , the zero-order general Randić index , denote by $^0R_α$, is defined by the following equation: \begin{align*} {^0R_α} (G) =\sum_{v\in G}d_G (v) ^α (α\in \mathbb{R}-\left\{0\right\}) . \end{align*} In this paper, we use this index to give sufficient conditions for a graph $G$ to satisfy the Hamiltonian (or $k$-Hamiltonian) property, and show that none of these conditions can be dropped. Finally we give similar results for the case when $G$ is a balanced bipartite graph.

Random Turán Problems for Graphs with a Vertex Complete to One Part
Given a graph $F$, the random Turán problem asks to determine the maximum number of edges in an $F$-free subgraph of $G_{n,p}$. Prior to this work, the only bipartite graphs $F$ with known tight bounds included certain classes of complete bipartite graphs and theta graphs. We greatly expand upon these examples by proving tight bounds for a number of bipartite graphs which have a vertex complete to one part. We also prove new general upper bounds for this problem which in many cases do significantly better than the only previous known general upper bound due to Jiang and Longbrake. Our proofs utilize dependent random choice together with the recent technique of balanced vertex supersaturation in conjunction with hypergraph containers.
S-packing chromatic critical paths and cycles
Let $S=(s_1,s_2,\ldots)$ be a non-decreasing sequence of positive integers. For a graph $G$ with vertex set $V(G)$, a labeling $φ\colon V(G)\to \{1,\ldots,k\}$ is an $S$-packing $k$-coloring if, whenever two distinct vertices $u,v\in V(G)$ are assigned the same color $i$, their distance in $G$ is greater than $s_i$. The minimum $k$ for which $G$ admits such a coloring is the $S$-packing chromatic number of $G$. A graph $G$ is $χ_S$-vertex-critical if $χ_S(G-v) < χ_S(G)$ for every $v \in V(G)$, and it is $χ_S$-critical if $χ_S(H) < χ_S(G)$ holds for every proper subgraph $H$ of $G$. In this paper, the exact value of $χ_S(P_n)$ is determined for every path of order $n$ and for every packing sequence $S$ where $s_i < 2^i$ holds for each entry $s_i$. As a consequence, $χ_S$-critical and $χ_S$-vertex-critical paths are identified for each such sequence $S$. In addition, we extend earlier results on $χ_S$-critical cycles and provide a complete characterization of $χ_S$-critical and $χ_S$-vertex-critical cycles for packing sequences $S= (1, s_2, \dots )$ with $s_2 \in \{2,3\}$ and $s_3,s_4 \in \{4,5,6,7\}$.

We construct connected $2$-arc-transitive covers of complete graphs with non-abelian characteristically simple transformation groups. This solves the existence problem for non-solvable $2$-arc-transitive covers of complete graphs.
