Counting the number of weakly connected dominating sets of graphs
Let $G=(V(G),E(G))$ be a simple graph. A non-empty set $S\subseteq V (G)$ is a weakly connected dominating set in $G$, if the subgraph obtained from $G$ by removing all edges each joining any two vertices in $V (G)\setminus S$ is connected. In this paper, we consider some graphs and study the number of their weakly connected dominating sets.

Extremal results on intersection graphs of boxes in $R^d$
The main purpose of this paper is to study extremal results on the intersection graphs of boxes in $\R^d$. We calculate exactly the maximal number of intersecting pairs in a family $\F$ of $n$ boxes in $\R^d$ with the property that no $k+1$ boxes in $\F$ have a point in common. This allows us to improve the known bounds for the fractional Helly theorem for boxes. We also use the Fox-Gromov-Lafforgue-Naor-Pach results to derive a fractional Erdős-Stone theorem for semi-algebraic graphs in order to obtain a second proof of the fractional Helly theorem for boxes.
A New Upper Bound on Total Domination Number of Bipartite Graphs
Let $ G $ be a graph. A subset $S \subseteq V(G) $ is called a total dominating set if every vertex of $G$ is adjacent to at least one vertex of $S$. The total domination number, $γ_{t}$($G$), is the minimum cardinality of a total dominating set of $G$. In this paper using a greedy algorithm we provide an upper bound for $γ_{t}$($G$), whenever $G$ is a bipartite graph and $δ(G)$ $\geq$ $k$. More precisely, we show that if $k$ > 1 is a natural number, then for every bipartite graph $G$ of order $n$ and $δ(G) \ge k$, $ $$γ_{t}$($G$) $\leq$ $n(1- \frac{k!}{\prod_{i=0}^{k-1}(\frac{k}{k-1}+i)}).$
Graph functions maximized on a path
Published • View Publication • BIB
Given a connected graph $G\ $of order $n$ and a nonnegative symmetric matrix $A=\left[ a_{i,j}\right] $ of order $n,$ define the function $F_{A}\left( G\right) $ as% \[ F_{A}\left( G\right) =\sum_{1\leq i<j\leq n}d_{G}\left( i,j\right) a_{i,j}, \] where $d_{G}\left( i,j\right) $ denotes the distance between the vertices $i$ and $j$ in $G.$ In this note it is shown that $F_{A}\left( G\right) \leq F_{A}\left( P\right) \,$for some path of order $n.$ Moreover, if each row of $A$ has at most one zero off-diagonal entry, then $F_{A}\left( G\right) <F_{A}\left( P\right) \,$for some path of order $n,$ unless $G$ itself is a path. In particular, this result implies two conjectures of Aouchiche and Hansen: - the spectral radius of the distance Laplacian of a connected graph $G$ of order $n$ is maximal if and only if $G$ is a path; - the spectral radius of the distance signless Laplacian of a connected graph $G$ of order $n$ is maximal if and only if $G$ is a path.

Decomposition of number arrangements in the cube
A subset $M \subset \textbf{R}^3$ is called a \emph{basic subset}, if for any funciton $f \colon M \to \textbf{R}$ there exist such functions $f_1; f_2; f_3 \colon \textbf{R} \to \textbf{R}$ that $f(x_1, x_2, x_3) = f_1(x_1) + f_2(x_2) + f_3(x_3)$ for each point $(x_1, x_2, x_3)\in M$. In this article we prove a criterion for a basic subset for some specific subsets in terms of some graph properties. We also introduce several constructions for mimimal non-basic subsets. The article is written in Russian.

Limits, Regularity and Removal for Finite Structures
Our work builds on known results for k-uniform hypergraphs including the existence of limits, a Regularity Lemma and a Removal Lemma. Our main tool here is a theory of measures on ultraproduct spaces which establishes a correspondence between ultraproduct spaces and Euclidean spaces. First we show the existence of a limit object for convergent sequences of relational structures and as a special case, we retrieve the known limits for graphs and digraphs. Then we extend this notion to finite models of a fixed universal theory. We also state and prove a Regularity Lemma and a Removal Lemma. We will discuss connections between our work and Razborov's flag algebras as well.

Removal and Stability for Erdős-Ko-Rado
Published in SIAM J. Discrete Math. 30-2 (2016), 1102-1114 • View Publication • BIB
A $k$-uniform family of subsets of $[n]$ is intersecting if it does not contain a disjoint pair of sets. The study of intersecting families is central to extremal set theory, dating back to the seminal Erdős-Ko-Rado theorem of 1961 that bounds the size of the largest such families. A recent trend has been to investigate the structure of set families with few disjoint pairs. Friedgut and Regev proved a general removal lemma, showing that when $γn \le k \le (\tfrac12 - γ)n$, a set family with few disjoint pairs can be made intersecting by removing few sets. We provide a simple proof of a removal lemma for large families, showing that families of size close to $\ell \binom{n-1}{k-1}$ with relatively few disjoint pairs must be close to a union of $\ell$ stars. Our lemma holds for a wide range of uniformities; in particular, when $\ell = 1$, the result holds for all $2 \le k < \frac{n}{2}$ and provides sharp quantitative estimates. We use this removal lemma to settle a question of Bollobás, Narayanan and Raigorodskii regarding the independence number of random subgraphs of the Kneser graph $K(n,k)$. The Erdős-Ko-Rado theorem shows $α(K(n,k)) = \binom{n-1}{k-1}$. For some constant $c > 0$ and $k \le cn$, we determine the sharp threshold for when this equality holds for random subgraphs of $K(n,k)$, and provide strong bounds on the critical probability for $k \le \tfrac12 (n-3)$.
Coloring, sparseness, and girth

An $r$-augmented tree is a rooted tree plus $r$ edges added from each leaf to ancestors. For $d,g,r\in\mathbb{N}$, we construct a bipartite $r$-augmented complete $d$-ary tree having girth at least $g$. The height of such trees must grow extremely rapidly in terms of the girth. Using the resulting graphs, we construct sparse non-$k$-choosable bipartite graphs, showing that maximum average degree at most $2(k-1)$ is a sharp sufficient condition for $k$-choosability in bipartite graphs, even when requiring large girth. We also give a new simple construction of non-$k$-colorable graphs and hypergraphs with any girth $g$.

Erdős-Gallai-type results for colorful monochromatic connectivity of a graph
Published • View Publication • BIB
A path in an edge-colored graph is called a \emph{monochromatic path} if all the edges on the path are colored the same. An edge-coloring of $G$ is a \emph{monochromatic connection coloring} (MC-coloring, for short) if there is a monochromatic path joining any two vertices in $G$. The \emph{monochromatic connection number}, denoted by $mc(G)$, is defined to be the maximum number of colors used in an MC-coloring of a graph $G$. These concepts were introduced by Caro and Yuster, and they got some nice results. In this paper, we will study two kinds of Erdős-Gallai-type problems for $mc(G)$, and completely solve them.

Tight Chromatic Upper Bound for {3 Times K1, {2 Times K1 + (K2 UNION K1)}-free Graphs
Problem of finding an optimal upper bound for χ of (3 Times K1)-free graphs is still open and pretty hard. It was proved by Choudum et al that upper bound on the χ of {3 Times K1, {2 Times K1 + (K2 UNION K1)}-free graphs is 2ω. We improve this by proving that if G is {3 Times K1, {2 Times K1 + (K2 UNION K1)}-free, then χ less than or equal to 3ω divided by 2 for ω not equal to 5, and χ less than or equal to 8 for ω = 5 where ω is the size of a maximum clique in G. We also give examples of extremal graphs.

Distance Regular Colorings of $n$-Dimensional Rectangular Grid
We study the infinite graph of $n$-dimensional rectangular grid that doesn't appear distance regular and the distance regular colorings of this graph, which are defined as the distance colorings with respect to completely regular codes. It is proved that the elements of the parameter matrix of an arbitrary distance regular coloring form two monotonic sequences. It is shown that every irreducible distance regular coloring of the $n$-dimensional rectangular grid has at most $2n+1$ colors.

On $2$-arc-transitive graphs of order $kp^n$
Published • View Publication • BIB
We show that there exist functions $c$ and $g$ such that, if $k$, $n$ and $d$ are positive integers with $d> g(n)$ and $Γ$ is a $d$-valent $2$-arc-transitive graph of order $kp^n$ with $p$ a prime, then $p\leqslant kc(d)$. In other words, there are only finitely many $d$-valent 2-arc-transitive graphs of order $kp^n$ with $d>g(n)$ and $p$ prime. This generalises a recent result of Conder, Li and Potočnik.

Topological Symmetry Groups of Complete Bipartite Graphs
Published in Tokyo J. Math., vol. 39, 2016, pp. 133-156 • View Publication • BIB
The symmetries of complex molecular structures can be modeled by the {\em topological symmetry group} of the underlying embedded graph. It is therefore important to understand which topological symmetry groups can be realized by particular abstract graphs. This question has been answered for complete graphs; it is natural next to consider complete bipartite graphs. In previous work we classified the complete bipartite graphs that can realize topological symmetry groups isomorphic to $A_4$, $S_4$ or $A_5$; in this paper we determine which complete bipartite graphs have an embedding in $S^3$ whose topological symmetry group is isomorphic to $\mathbb{Z}_m$, $D_m$, $\mathbb{Z}_r \times \mathbb{Z}_s$ or $(\mathbb{Z}_r \times \mathbb{Z}_s) \ltimes \mathbb{Z}_2$.

A Sharp Upper Bound for the Complexity of Labeled Oriented Trees
A labeled oriented graph (LOG) is an oriented graph with a labeling function from the edge set into the vertex set. The complexity of a LOG is the minimal cardinality of an initial set $S$ of vertices such that every vertex can be reached successively from $S$ only using edges with labels in $S$ or already visited vertices. We give a constructive proof of a conjecture by Rosebrock stating that for an interior reduced, connected LOG with $m$ vertices the complexity is at most $(m+1) / 2$ and show that this bound is sharp. Due to results of Howie labeled oriented trees (LOTs) yield crucial candidates for counterexamples of the Whitehead Conjecture stating that every subcomplex of an aspherical 2-complex is aspherical. We explicitly describe the structure of LOTs of maximal complexity $(m+1)/2$. We conclude that the 2-complexes associated to these LOTs are always aspherical excluding them from the list of possible counterexamples.

On $k$-transitive closures of directed paths
In this paper we study the structure of $k$-transitive closures of directed paths and formulate several properties. Concept of $k$-transitive orientation generalize the traditional concept of transitive orientation of a graph.
Entry-Faithful $2$-Neighbour Transitive Codes
Published • View Publication • BIB
We consider a code to be a subset of the vertex set of a Hamming graph. The set of $s$-neighbours of a code is the set of vertices, not in the code, at distance $s$ from some codeword, but not distance less than $s$ from any codeword. A $2$-neighbour transitive code is a code which admits a group $X$ of automorphisms which is transitive on the $s$-neighbours, for $s=1,2$, and transitive on the code itself. We give a classification of $2$-neighbour transitive codes, with minimum distance $δ\geq 5$, for which $X$ acts faithfully on the set of entries of the Hamming graph.

Local distributions for eigenfunctions and for perfect colorings of q-ary hypercube
Under study are the eigenfunctions and perfect colorings of the graph of $n$-dimensional $q$-ary Hamming space. We obtain the interdependence of local distributions of an eigenfunction in two orthogonal faces. We prove also an analogous result for perfect colorings.

Communicability Angle and the Spatial Efficiency of Networks
Published • View Publication • BIB
We introduce the concept of communicability angle between a pair of nodes in a graph. We provide strong analytical and empirical evidence that the average communicability angle for a given network accounts for its spatial efficiency on the basis of the communications among the nodes in a network. We determine characteristics of the spatial efficiency of more than a hundred real-world complex networks that represent complex systems arising in a diverse set of scenarios. In particular, we find that the communicability angle correlates very well with the experimentally measured value of the relative packing efficiency of proteins that are represented as residue networks. We finally show how we can modulate the spatial efficiency of a network by tuning the weights of the edges of the networks. This allows us to predict effects of external stresses on the spatial efficiency of a network as well as to design strategies to improve important parameters in real-world complex systems.

The matching energy of random graphs
Published • View Publication • BIB
The matching energy of a graph was introduced by Gutman and Wagner, which is defined as the sum of the absolute values of the roots of the matching polynomial of the graph. For the random graph $G_{n,p}$ of order $n$ with fixed probability $p\in (0,1)$, Gutman and Wagner [I. Gutman, S. Wagner, The matching energy of a graph, Discrete Appl. Math. 160(2012), 2177--2187] proposed a conjecture that the matching energy of $G_{n,p}$ converges to $\frac{8\sqrt{p}}{3π}n^{\frac{3}{2}}$ almost surely. In this paper, using analysis method, we prove that the conjecture is true.

On Lie algebra weight systems for 3-graphs
Published • View Publication • BIB
A {\em $3$-graph} is a connected cubic graph such that each vertex is is equipped with a cyclic order of the edges incident with it. A {\em weight system} is a function $f$ on the collection of $3$-graphs which is {\em antisymmetric}: $f(H)=-f(G)$ if $H$ arises from $G$ by reversing the orientation at one of its vertices, and satisfies the IHX-equation. Key instances of weight systems are the functions $\varphi_{\frak{g}}$ obtained from a metric Lie algebra $\frak{g}$ by taking the structure tensor $c$ of $\frak{g}$ with respect to some orthonormal basis, decorating each vertex of the $3$-graph by $c$, and contracting along the edges. We give equations on values of any complex-valued weight system that characterize it as complex Lie algebra weight system. It also follows that if $f=\varphi_{\frak{g}}$ for some complex metric Lie algebra $\frak{g}$, then $f=\varphi_{\frak{g}'}$ for some unique complex reductive metric Lie algebra $\frak{g}'$. Basic tool throughout is geometric invariant theory.
