Let $\mathscr{L}_{n,t}$ be the set of all $n$-vertex connected graphs with clique number $t$\,($2\leq t\leq n)$. For $n$-vertex connected graphs with given clique number, lexicographic ordering by spectral moments ($S$-order) is discussed in this paper. The first $\sum_{i=1}^{\lfloor\frac{n-t-1}{3}\rfloor}(n-t-3i)+1$ graphs with $3\le t\le n-4$, and the last few graphs, in the $S$-order, among $\mathscr{L}_{n,t}$ are characterized. In addition, all graphs in $\mathscr{L}_{n,n}\bigcup\mathscr{L}_{n,n-1}$ have an $S$-order; for the cases $t=n-2$ and $t=n-3$ the first three and the first seven graphs in the set $\mathscr{L}_{n,t}$ are characterized, respectively.

The \emph{simplicial rook graph} SR(d,n) is the graph whose vertices are the lattice points in the $n$th dilate of the standard simplex in $\mathbb{R}^d$, with two vertices adjacent if they differ in exactly two coordinates. We prove that the adjacency and Laplacian matrices of SR(3,n) have integral spectrum for every $n$. The proof proceeds by calculating an explicit eigenbasis. We conjecture that SR(d,n) is integral for all $d$ and $n$, and present evidence in support of this conjecture. For $n<\binom{d}{2}$, the evidence indicates that the smallest eigenvalue of the adjacency matrix is $-n$, and that the corresponding eigenspace has dimension given by the Mahonian numbers, which enumerate permutations by number of inversions.
On the Concentration of the Domination Number of the Random Graph

In this paper we study the behaviour of the domination number of the Erdős-Rényi random graph $\mathcal{G}(n,p)$. Extending a result of Wieland and Godbole we show that the domination number of $\mathcal{G}(n,p)$ is equal to one of two values asymptotically almost surely whenever $p \gg \frac{\ln^2n}{\sqrt{n}}$. The explicit values are exactly at the first moment threshold, that is where the expected number of dominating sets starts to tend to infinity. For small $p$ we also provide various non-concentration results which indicate why some sort of lower bound on the probability $p$ is necessary in our first theorem. Concentration, though not on a constant length interval, is proven for every $p\gg 1/n$. These results show that unlike in the case of $p \gg \frac{\ln^2n}{\sqrt{n}}$ where concentration of the domination number happens around the first moment threshold, for $p = O(\ln n/n)$ it does so around the median. In particular, in this range the two are far apart from each other.
New spectral bounds on the chromatic number encompassing all eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix

The purpose of this article is to improve existing lower bounds on the chromatic number chi. Let mu_1,...,mu_n be the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix sorted in non-increasing order.
First, we prove the lower bound chi >= 1 + max_m {sum_{i=1}^m mu_i / - sum_{i=1}^m mu_{n-i+1}} for m=1,...,n-1. This generalizes the Hoffman lower bound which only involves the maximum and minimum eigenvalues, i.e., the case $m=1$. We provide several examples for which the new bound exceeds the {\sc Hoffman} lower bound.
Second, we conjecture the lower bound chi >= 1 + S^+ / S^-, where S^+ and S^- are the sums of the squares of positive and negative eigenvalues, respectively. To corroborate this conjecture, we prove the weaker bound chi >= S^+/S^-. We show that the conjectured lower bound is tight for several families of graphs. We also performed various searches for a counter-example, but none was found.
Our proofs rely on a new technique of converting the adjacency matrix into the zero matrix by conjugating with unitary matrices and use majorization of spectra of self-adjoint matrices.
We also show that the above bounds are actually lower bounds on the normalized orthogonal rank of a graph, which is always less than or equal to the chromatic number. The normalized orthogonal rank is the minimum dimension making it possible to assign vectors with entries of modulus one to the vertices such that two such vectors are orthogonal if the corresponding vertices are connected.
All these bounds are also valid when we replace the adjacency matrix A by W * A where W is an arbitrary self-adjoint matrix and * denotes the Schur product, that is, entrywise product of W and A.

In this paper, we present a sharp upper and lower bounds for the signless Laplacian spectral radius of graphs in terms of clique number. Moreover, the extremal graphs which attain the upper and lower bounds are characterized. In addition, these results disprove the two conjectures on the signless Laplacian spectral radius in [P. Hansen and C. Lucas, Bounds and conjectures for the signless Laplacian index of graphs, Linear Algebra Appl., 432(2010) 3319-3336].
The groupies of random multipartite graphs
If a vertex $v$ in a graph $G$ has degree larger than the average of the degrees of its neighbors, we call it a groupie in $G$. In the current work, we study the behavior of groupie in random multipartite graphs with the link probability between sets of nodes fixed. Our results extend the previous ones on random (bipartite) graphs.

In a graph $G$ with a given edge colouring, a rainbow path is a path all of whose edges have distinct colours. The minimum number of colours required to colour the edges of $G$ so that every pair of vertices is joined by at least one rainbow path is called the rainbow connection number $rc(G)$ of the graph $G$. For any graph $G$, $rc(G) \ge diam(G)$. We will show that for the Erdős-Rényi random graph $G(n,p)$ close to the diameter 2 threshold, with high probability if $diam(G)=2$ then $rc(G)=2$. In fact, further strengthening this result, we will show that in the random graph process, with high probability the hitting times of diameter 2 and of rainbow connection number 2 coincide.

In attempting to understand how combinatorial modifications alter algebraic properties of monomial ideals, several authors have investigated the process of adding "whiskers" to graphs. In this paper, we study a similar construction to build a simplicial complex $Δ_χ$ from a coloring $χ$ of a subset of the vertices of $Δ$, and give necessary and sufficient conditions for this construction to produce vertex decomposable simplicial complexes. We apply this work to strengthen and give new proofs about sequentially Cohen-Macaulay edge ideals of graphs.
Every 4-regular graph is acyclically edge-6-colorable
An acyclic edge coloring of a graph $G$ is a proper edge coloring such that no bichromatic cycles are produced. The acyclic chromatic index $a'(G)$ of $G$ is the smallest integer $k$ such that $G$ has an acyclic edge coloring using $k$ colors. Fiam${\rm \check{c}}$ik (1978) and later Alon, Sudakov and Zaks (2001) conjectured that $a'(G)\le Δ+ 2$ for any simple graph $G$ with maximum degree $Δ$. Basavaraju and Chandran (2009) showed that every graph $G$ with $Δ=4$, which is not 4-regular, satisfies the conjecture. In this paper, we settle the 4-regular case, i.e., we show that every 4-regular graph $G$ has $a'(G)\le 6$.

Let $A(G)$ be the adjacency matrix of a graph $G$ with $λ_{1}(G)$, $λ_{2}(G)$, ..., $λ_{n}(G)$ being its eigenvalues in non-increasing order. Call the number $S_k(G):=\sum_{i=1}^{n}λ_{i}^k(G) (k=0,1,...,n-1)$ the $k$th spectral moment of $G$. Let $S(G)=(S_0(G),S_1(G),...,S_{n-1}(G))$ be the sequence of spectral moments of $G$. For two graphs $G_1$ and $G_2$, we have $G_1\prec_sG_2$ if $S_i(G_1)=S_i(G_2) (i=0,1,...,k-1)$ and $S_k(G_1)<S_k(G_2)$ for some $k\in {1,2,...,n-1}$. Denote by $\mathscr{G}_n^k$ the set of connected $n$-vertex graphs with $k$ cut edges. In this paper, we determine the first, the second, the last and the second last graphs, in an $S$-order, among $\mathscr{G}_n^k$, respectively.

We present different ways of endowing a particular category of graphs with Quillen model structures. We show, among other things, that the core of a graph can be seen as its homotopy type in an appropriate Quillen model structure, and that an infinity of Quillen model structures exist for our particular category of graphs.
A node-capacitated Okamura-Seymour theorem

The classical Okamura-Seymour theorem states that for an edge-capacitated, multi-commodity flow instance in which all terminals lie on a single face of a planar graph, there exists a feasible concurrent flow if and only if the cut conditions are satisfied. Simple examples show that a similar theorem is impossible in the node-capacitated setting. Nevertheless, we prove that an approximate flow/cut theorem does hold: For some universal c > 0, if the node cut conditions are satisfied, then one can simultaneously route a c-fraction of all the demands. This answers an open question of Chekuri and Kawarabayashi. More generally, we show that this holds in the setting of multi-commodity polymatroid networks introduced by Chekuri, et. al. Our approach employs a new type of random metric embedding in order to round the convex programs corresponding to these more general flow problems.
On the spectral moment of trees with given degree sequences
Let $A(G)$ be the adjacency matrix of graph $G$ with eigenvalues $λ_1(G), λ_2(G),..., λ_n(G)$ in non-increasing order. The number $S_k(G):=\sum_{i=1}^{n}λ_i^{k}(G)\, (k=0, 1,..., n-1)$ is called the $k$th spectral moment of $G$. Let $S(G) = (S_0(G), S_1(G),..., S_{n-1}(G))$ be the sequence of spectral moments of $G.$ For two graphs $G_1, G_2$, we have $G_1\prec_{s}G_2$ if for some $k \in \{1,2,3,...,n-1\}$, we have $S_i(G_1) = S_i(G_2)\, ,\, i = 0, 1,..., k-1$ and $S_k(G_1)<S_k(G_2).$ In this paper, the last $n$-vertex tree with a given degree sequence in an $S$-order is determined. Consequently, we also obtain the last trees in an $S$-order in the sets of all trees of order $n$ with the largest degree, the leaves number, the independence number and the matching number, respectively.

Let G be a simple graph. A coloring of vertices of G is called (i) a 2-proper coloring if vertices at distance 2 receive distinct colors; (ii) an injective coloring if vertices possessing a common neighbor receive distinct colors; (iii) a square coloring if vertices at distance at most 2 receive distinct colors. In this paper, we study inequalities of Nordhaus-Guddam type for the 2-proper chromatic number, the injective chromatic number, and the square chromatic number.
Product Dimension of Forests and Bounded Treewidth Graphs

The product dimension of a graph G is defined as the minimum natural number l such that G is an induced subgraph of a direct product of l complete graphs. In this paper we study the product dimension of forests, bounded treewidth graphs and k-degenerate graphs. We show that every forest on n vertices has a product dimension at most 1.441logn+3. This improves the best known upper bound of 3logn for the same due to Poljak and Pultr. The technique used in arriving at the above bound is extended and combined with a result on existence of orthogonal Latin squares to show that every graph on n vertices with a treewidth at most t has a product dimension at most (t+2)(logn+1). We also show that every k-degenerate graph on n vertices has a product dimension at most \ceil{8.317klogn}+1. This improves the upper bound of 32klogn for the same by Eaton and Rodl.

In this paper, we present three necessary conditions for recognizing point visibility graphs. We show that this recognition problem lies in PSPACE. We state new properties of point visibility graphs along with some known properties that are important in understanding point visibility graphs. For planar point visibility graphs, we present a complete characterization which leads to a linear time recognition and reconstruction algorithm.
The limiting distributions of large heavy Wigner and arbitrary random matrices

The model of heavy Wigner matrices generalizes the classical ensemble of Wigner matrices: the sub-diagonal entries are independent, identically distributed along to and out of the diagonal, and the moments its entries are of order 1/N, where N is the size of the matrices. Adjacency matrices of Erdös-Renyi sparse graphs and matrices with properly truncated heavy tailed entries are examples of heavy Wigner matrices. We consider a family X_N of independent heavy Wigner matrices and a family Y_N of arbitrary random matrices, independent of X_N, with a technical condition (e.g. the matrices of Y_N are deterministic and uniformly bounded in operator norm, or are deterministic diagonal). We characterize the possible limiting joint *-distributions of (X_N,Y_N) in the sense of free probability. We find that they depend on more than the *-distribution of Y_N. We use the notion of distributions of traffics and their free product to quantify the information needed on Y_N and to infer the limiting distribution of (X_N,Y_N). We give an explicit combinatorial formula for joint moments of heavy Wigner and independent random matrices. When the matrices of Y_N are diagonal, we give recursion formulas for these moments. We deduce a new characterization of the limiting eigenvalues distribution of a single heavy Wigner.
A natural stochastic extension of the sandpile model on a graph

We introduce a new model of a stochastic sandpile on a graph $G$ containing a sink. When unstable, a site sends one grain to each of its neighbours independently with probability $p \in (0,1]$. For $p=1$, this coincides with the standard Abelian sandpile model. In general, for $p\in(0,1)$, the set of recurrent configurations of this sandpile model is different from that of the Abelian sandpile model. We give a characterisation of this set in terms of orientations of the graph $G$. We also define the lacking polynomial $L_G$ as the generating function counting this set according to the number of grains, and show that this polynomial satisfies a recurrence which resembles that of the Tutte polynomial.
Spreading Processes and Large Components in Ordered, Directed Random Graphs
Order the vertices of a directed random graph \math{v_1,...,v_n}; edge \math{(v_i,v_j)} for \math{i<j} exists independently with probability \math{p}. This random graph model is related to certain spreading processes on networks. We consider the component reachable from \math{v_1} and prove existence of a sharp threshold \math{p^*=\log n/n} at which this reachable component transitions from \math{o(n)} to \math{Ω(n)}.
A Note on Integer Domination of Cartesian Product Graphs
Given a graph $G$, a dominating set $D$ is a set of vertices such that any vertex in $G$ has at least one neighbor (or possibly itself) in $D$. A ${k}$-dominating multiset $D_k$ is a multiset of vertices such that any vertex in $G$ has at least $k$ vertices from its closed neighborhood in $D_k$ when counted with multiplicity. In this paper, we utilize the approach developed by Clark and Suen (2000) and properties of binary matrices to prove a "Vizing-like" inequality on minimum ${k}$-dominating multisets of graphs $G,H$ and the Cartesian product graph $G \Box H$. Specifically, denoting the size of a minimum ${k}$-dominating multiset as $γ_{k}(G)$, we demonstrate that $γ_{k}(G) γ_{k}(H) \leq 2k γ_{k}(G \Box H)$.
