We introduce a basis of the symmetric functions that evaluates to the (irreducible) characters of the symmetric group, just as the Schur functions evaluate to the irreducible characters of $GL_n$ modules. Our main result gives three different characterizations for this basis. One of the characterizations shows that the structure coefficients for the (outer) product of these functions are the stable Kronecker coefficients. The results in this paper focus on developing the fundamental properties of this basis.
On cap sets and the group-theoretic approach to matrix multiplication

In 2003, Cohn and Umans described a framework for proving upper bounds on the exponent $ω$ of matrix multiplication by reducing matrix multiplication to group algebra multiplication, and in 2005 Cohn, Kleinberg, Szegedy, and Umans proposed specific conjectures for how to obtain $ω=2$. In this paper we rule out obtaining $ω=2$ in this framework from abelian groups of bounded exponent. To do this we bound the size of tricolored sum-free sets in such groups, extending the breakthrough results of Croot, Lev, Pach, Ellenberg, and Gijswijt on cap sets. As a byproduct of our proof, we show that a variant of tensor rank due to Tao gives a quantitative understanding of the notion of unstable tensor from geometric invariant theory.
A Polynomial Time Graph Isomorphism Algorithm For Graphs That Are Not Locally Triangle-Free
In this paper, we show the existence of a polynomial time graph isomorphism algorithm for all graphs excluding graphs that are locally trianglefree. This particular class of graphs allows to divide the graph into neighbourhood sub-graph where each of induced sub-graph (neighbourhood) has at least 2 vertices. We construct all possible permutations for each induced sub-graph using a search tree. We construct automorphisms of subgraphs based on these permutations. Finally, we decide isomorphism through automorphisms .
The author expects that the solution, present in this paper, may lead to a faster algorithm for the general case of graph isomorphism (using " barycentric subdivision" ). The paper might affect group isomorphism also as we may construct graphs (corresponds to a particular group) in way so we can avoid it to be a triangle free graph. Since, for a given group G , each choice of a generating set will give a different Cayley graph.

The partition algebra $\mathsf{P}_k(n)$ and the symmetric group $\mathsf{S}_n$ are in Schur-Weyl duality on the $k$-fold tensor power $\mathsf{M}_n^{\otimes k}$ of the permutation module $\mathsf{M}_n$ of $\mathsf{S}_n$, so there is a surjection $\mathsf{P}_k(n) \to \mathsf{Z}_k(n) := \mathsf{End}_{\mathsf{S}_n}(\mathsf{M}_n^{\otimes k}),$ which is an isomorphism when $n \ge 2k$. We prove a dimension formula for the irreducible modules of the centralizer algebra $\mathsf{Z}_k(n)$ in terms of Stirling numbers of the second kind. Via Schur-Weyl duality, these dimensions equal the multiplicities of the irreducible $\mathsf{S}_n$-modules in $\mathsf{M}_n^{\otimes k}$. Our dimension expressions hold for any $n \geq 1$ and $k\ge0$. Our methods are based on an analog of Frobenius reciprocity that we show holds for the centralizer algebras of arbitrary finite groups and their subgroups acting on a finite-dimensional module. This enables us to generalize the above result to various analogs of the partition algebra including the centralizer algebra for the alternating group acting on $\mathsf{M}_n^{\otimes k}$ and the quasi-partition algebra corresponding to tensor powers of the reflection representation of $\mathsf{S}_n$.
Formal-dual subsets of cyclic groups of prime power order

We study the notion of formal-duality over finite cyclic groups of prime power order as introduced by Cohn, Kumar, Reiher and Schürmann. We will prove that for any cyclic group of odd prime power order, as well as for any cyclic group of order $2^{2l+1}$, there is no primitive pair of formally-dual subsets. This partially proves a conjecture, made by the priorly mentioned authors, that the only cyclic groups with a pair of primitive formally-dual subsets are $\{0\}$ and $\mathbb{Z}/4\mathbb{Z}$.

Applying the quantum group method developed in [KP20], we construct solutions to the Benoit & Saint-Aubin partial differential equations with boundary conditions given by specific recursive asymptotics properties. Our results generalize solutions constructed in [KP16, PW19], known as the pure partition functions of multiple Schramm-Loewner evolutions. The generalization is reminiscent of fusion in conformal field theory, and our solutions can be thought of as partition functions of systems of random curves, where many curves may emerge from the same point.
On rotarily transitive graphs
From the point of view of discrete geometry, the class of locally finite transitive graphs is a wide and important one. The subclass of Cayley graphs is of particular interest, as testifies the development of geometric group theory. Recall that Cayley graphs can be defined as non-empty locally finite connected graphs endowed with a transitive group action such that any non-identity element acts without fixed point.
We define a class of transitive graphs which are transitive in an "absolutely non-Cayley way": we consider graphs endowed with a transitive group action such that any element of the group acts with a fixed point. We call such graphs "rotarily transitive graphs", and we show that, even though there is no finite rotarily transitive graph with at least 2 vertices, there is an infinite locally finite connected rotarily transitive graph. The proof is based on groups built by Ivanov which are finitely generated, of finite exponent and have a small number of conjugacy classes.
We also build infinite transitive graphs (which are not locally finite) any automorphism of which has a fixed point. This is done by considering "unit distance graphs" associated with the projective plane over suitable subfields of the real numbers.

We give a new description of the Pieri rule for k-Schur functions using the Bruhat order on the affine type-A Weyl group. In doing so, we prove a new combinatorial formula for representatives of the Schubert classes for the cohomology of affine Grassmannians. We show how new combinatorics involved in our formulas gives the Kostka-Foulkes polynomials and discuss how this can be applied to study the transition matrices between Hall-Littlewood and k-Schur functions.
Permutation groups arising from pattern involvement

For an arbitrary finite permutation group $G$, subgroup of the symmetric group $S_\ell$, we determine the permutations involving only members of $G$ as $\ell$-patterns, i.e., avoiding all patterns in the set $S_\ell \setminus G$. The set of all $n$-permutations with this property constitutes again a permutation group. We consequently refine and strengthen the classification of sets of permutations closed under pattern involvement and composition that is due to Atkinson and Beals.

S.~Elnitsky (1997) gave an elegant bijection between rhombic tilings of $2n$-gons and commutation classes of reduced words in the symmetric group on $n$ letters. P.~Magyar (1998) found an important construction of the Bott-Samelson varieties introduced by H.C.~Hansen (1973) and M.~Demazure (1974). We explain a natural connection between S.~Elnitsky's and P.~Magyar's results. This suggests using tilings to encapsulate Bott-Samelson data (in type $A$). It also indicates a geometric perspective on S.~Elnitsky's combinatorics. We also extend this construction by assigning desingularizations to the zonotopal tilings considered by B.~Tenner (2006).

We give a necessary and sufficient condition for that the support $τ$-tilting poset of a finite dimensional algebra is isomorphic to the poset of symmetric group with weak order. Moreover we show that there are infinitely many finite dimensional algebras whose support $τ$-tilting posets are isomorphic to the poset of symmetric group with weak order.

We introduce two families of symmetric functions with an extra parameter t that specialize to Schubert representatives for cohomology and homology of the affine Grassmannian when t = 1. The families are defined by a statistic on combinatorial objects associated to the type-A affine Weyl group and their transition matrix with Hall-Littlewood polynomials is t-positive. We conjecture that one family is the set of k-atoms.
Permutation groups, pattern involvement, and Galois connections

There is a connection between permutation groups and permutation patterns: for any subgroup $G$ of the symmetric group $S_\ell$ and for any $n \geq \ell$, the set of $n$-permutations involving only members of $G$ as $\ell$-patterns is a subgroup of $S_n$. Making use of the monotone Galois connection induced by the pattern avoidance relation, we characterize the permutation groups that arise via pattern avoidance as automorphism groups of relations of a certain special form. We also investigate a related monotone Galois connection for permutation groups and describe its closed sets and kernels as automorphism groups of relations.
Partial Dehn twists of free groups relative to local Dehn twists - a dichotomy
A criterion for quadratic or higher growth of group automorphisms is established which are represented by graph-of-groups automorphisms with certain well specified properties.
As a consequence, it is derived (using results of a previous paper of the author) that every partial Dehn twist automorphism of $\FN$ relative to local Dehn twist automorphisms is either an honest Dehn twist automorphism, or else has quadratic growth.
Young tableaux and representations of Hecke algebras of type ADE

We introduce and study some affine Hecke algebras of type ADE, generalising the affine Hecke algebras of GL. We construct irreducible calibrated representations and describe the calibrated spectrum. This is done in terms of new families of combinatorial objects equipped with actions of the corresponding Weyl groups. These objects are built from and generalise the usual standard Young tableaux, and are controlled by the considered affine Hecke algebras. By restriction and limiting procedure, we obtain several combinatorial models for representations of finite Hecke algebras and Weyl groups of type ADE. Representations are constructed by explicit formulas, in a seminormal form.

Additive functionals of $d$-ary increasing trees

A tree functional is called additive if it satisfies a recursion of the form $F(T) = \sum_{j=1}^k F(B_j) + f(T)$, where $B_1,\ldots,B_k$ are the branches of the tree $T$ and $f(T)$ is a toll function. We prove a general central limit theorem for additive functionals of $d$-ary increasing trees under suitable assumptions on the toll function. The same method also applies to generalised plane-oriented increasing trees (GPORTs). One of our main applications is a log-normal law that we prove for the size of the automorphism group of $d$-ary increasing trees, but many other examples (old and new) are covered as well.

We pose counting problems related to the various settings for Coxeter-Catalan combinatorics (noncrossing, nonnesting, clusters, Cambrian). Each problem is to count "twin" pairs of objects from a corresponding problem in Coxeter-Catalan combinatorics. We show that the problems all have the same answer, and, for a given finite Coxeter group W, we call the common solution to these problems the W-biCatalan number. We compute the W-biCatalan number for all W and take the first steps in the study of Coxeter-biCatalan combinatorics.

A graph $Γ$ is called $G$-symmetric if it admits $G$ as a group of automorphisms acting transitively on the set of ordered pairs of adjacent vertices. We give a classification of $G$-symmetric graphs $Γ$ with $V(Γ)$ admitting a nontrivial $G$-invariant partition $\mathcal{B}$ such that there is exactly one edge of $Γ$ between any two distinct blocks of $\mathcal{B}$. This is achieved by giving a classification of $(G, 2)$-point-transitive and $G$-block-transitive designs $\mathcal{D}$ together with $G$-orbits $Ω$ on the flag set of $\mathcal{D}$ such that $G_{σ, L}$ is transitive on $L \setminus \{σ\}$ and $L \cap N = \{σ\}$ for distinct $(σ, L), (σ, N) \in Ω$, where $G_{σ, L}$ is the setwise stabilizer of $L$ in the stabilizer $G_σ$ of $σ$ in $G$. Along the way we determine all imprimitive blocks of $G_σ$ on $V \setminus \{σ\}$ for every $2$-transitive group $G$ on a set $V$, where $σ\in V$.
The Ramanujan Property for Simplicial Complexes
Let $G$ be a topological group acting on a simplicial complex $\mathcal{X}$ satisfying some mild assumptions. For example, consider a $k$-regular tree and its automorphism group, or more generally, a regular affine Bruhat-Tits building and its automorphism group. We define and study various types of high-dimensional spectra of quotients of $\mathcal{X}$ by subgroups of $G$. These spectra include the spectrum of many natural operators associated with the quotients, e.g. the high-dimensional Laplacians.
We prove a theorem in the spirit of the Alon-Boppana Theorem, leading to a notion of Ramanujan quotients of $\mathcal{X}$. Ramanujan $k$-regular graphs and Ramanuajn complexes in the sense of Lubotzky, Samuels and Vishne are Ramanujan in dimension $0$ according to our definition (for $\mathcal{X}$, $G$ suitably chosen). We give a criterion for a quotient of $\mathcal{X}$ to be Ramanujan which is phrased in terms of representations of $G$, and use it, together with deep results about automorphic representations, to show that affine buildings of inner forms of $\mathbf{GL}_n$ over local fields of positive characteristic admit infinitely many quotients which are Ramanujan in all dimensions. The Ramanujan (in dimension $0$) complexes constructed by Lubotzky, Samuels and Vishne arise as a special case of our construction. Our construction also gives rise to Ramanujan graphs which are apparently new.
Other applications are also discussed. For example, we show that there are non-isomorphic simiplicial complexes which are isospectral in all dimensions.
