This paper confirms a conjecture of Amdeberhan and Moll that the power of 2 dividing the number of plane partitions in an n-cube is greater than the power of 2 dividing the number of totally symmetric plane partitions in the same cube when n is even, and less when n is odd.

The conjecture that the orbit-counting generating function for totally symmetric plane partitions can be written as an explicit product formula, has been stated independently by George Andrews and David Robbins around 1983. We present a proof of this long-standing conjecture.
Eliminating Human Insight: An Algorithmic Proof of Stembridge's TSPP Theorem

We present a new proof of Stembridge's theorem about the enumeration of totally symmetric plane partitions using the methodology suggested in the recent Koutschan-Kauers-Zeilberger semi-rigorous proof of the Andrews-Robbins q-TSPP conjecture. Our proof makes heavy use of computer algebra and is completely automatic. We describe new methods that make the computations feasible in the first place. The tantalizing aspect of this work is that the same methods can be applied to prove the q-TSPP conjecture (that is a q-analogue of Stembridge's theorem and open for more than 25 years); the only hurdle here is still the computational complexity.
The poset perspective on alternating sign matrices

Alternating sign matrices (ASMs) are square matrices with entries 0, 1, or -1 whose rows and columns sum to 1 and whose nonzero entries alternate in sign. We put ASMs into a larger context by studying the order ideals of subposets of a certain poset, proving that they are in bijection with a variety of interesting combinatorial objects, including ASMs, totally symmetric self--complementary plane partitions (TSSCPPs), Catalan objects, tournaments, semistandard Young tableaux, and totally symmetric plane partitions. We use this perspective to prove an expansion of the tournament generating function as a sum over TSSCPPs which is analogous to a known formula involving ASMs.
A Proof of George Andrews' and Dave Robbins' q-TSPP Conjecture (modulo a finite amount of routine calculations)
In the historic conference Combinatoire Enumerative[LL] wonderfully organized by Gilbert Labelle and Pierre Leroux there were many stimulating lectures, including a very interesting one by Pierre Leroux himself, who talked about his joint work with Xavier Viennot[LV], on solving differential equations combinatorially! During the problem session of that very same colloque, chaired by Pierre Leroux, Richard Stanley raised some intriguing problems about the enumeration of plane partitions, that he later expanded into a fascinating article[Sta1]. Most of these problems concerned the enumeration of symmetry classes of plane partitions, that were discussed in more detail in another article of Stanley[Sta2]. All of the conjectures in the latter article have since been proved (see Dave Bressoud's modern classic[B]), except one, that, so far, resisted the efforts of the greatest minds in enumerative combinatorics. It concerns the proof of an explicit formula for the q-enumeration of totally symmetric plane partitions, conjectured independently by George Andrews and Dave Robbins([Sta2],[Sta1](conj. 7), [B](conj. 13)). In this tribute to Pierre Leroux, we describe how to prove that last stronghold.

We asymptotically analyse the volume-random variables of general, symmetric and cyclically symmetric plane partitions fitting inside a box. We consider the respective symmetry class equipped with the uniform distribution. We also prove area limit laws for two ensembles of Ferrers diagrams. Most of the limit laws are Gaussian.
On refined enumerations of totally symmetric self-complementary plane partitions II
In this paper we settle a weak version of a conjecture (i.e. Conjecture 6) by Mills, Robbins and Rumsey in the paper "Self-complementary totally symmetric plane partitions" (J. Combin. Theory Ser. A 42, 277-292). In other words we show that the number of shifted plane partitions invariant under an involution is equal to the number of alternating sign matrices invariant under the vertical flip. We also give a determinantal formula for the general conjecture (Conjecture 6), but this determinant is still hard to evaluate. In this paper we introduce two new classes of domino plane partitions, one has the same cardinality as the set of half-turn symmetric alternating sign matrices and the other has the same cardinality as the set of vertically symmetric alternating sign matrices.
On refined enumerations of totally symmetric self-complementary plane partitions I
In this paper we give Pfaffian expressions and constant term identities for the enumeration problems presented by Mills, Robbins and Rumsey (``Self-complementary totally symmetric plane partitions'' J. Combin. Theory Ser. A, 42, 277--292), concerning the totally symmetric self-complementary plane partitions (TSSCPPs). We also present some new conjectures and give Pfaffian expressions for them.
Symmetry Classes of Alternating Sign Matrices
An alternating sign matrix is a square matrix satisfying (i) all entries are equal to 1, -1 or 0; (ii) every row and column has sum 1; (iii) in every row and column the non-zero entries alternate in sign. The 8-element group of symmetries of the square acts in an obvious way on square matrices. For any subgroup of the group of symmetries of the square we may consider the subset of matrices invariant under elements of this subgroup. There are 8 conjugacy classes of these subgroups giving rise to 8 symmetry classes of matrices. R. P. Stanley suggested the study of those alternating sign matrices in each of these symmetry classes. We have found evidence suggesting that for six of the symmetry classes there exist simple product formulas for the number of alternating sign matrices in the class. Moreover the factorizations of certain of their generating functions point to rather startling connections between several of the symmetry classes and cyclically symmetric plane partitions.
Enumeration of lozenge tilings of hexagons with a central triangular hole

We deal with unweighted and weighted enumerations of lozenge tilings of a hexagon with side lengths $a,b+m,c,a+m,b,c+m$, where an equilateral triangle of side length $m$ has been removed from the center. We give closed formulas for the plain enumeration and for a certain $(-1)$-enumeration of these lozenge tilings. In the case that $a=b=c$, we also provide closed formulas for certain weighted enumerations of those lozenge tilings that are cyclically symmetric. For $m=0$, the latter formulas specialize to statements about weighted enumerations of cyclically symmetric plane partitions. One such specialization gives a proof of a conjecture of Stembridge on a certain weighted count of cyclically symmetric plane partitions. The tools employed in our proofs are nonstandard applications of the theory of nonintersecting lattice paths and determinant evaluations. In particular, we evaluate the determinants $\det_{0\le i,j\le n-1}\big(\om δ_{ij}+\binom {m+i+j}j\big)$, where $\om$ is any 6th root of unity. These determinant evaluations are variations of a famous result due to Andrews (Invent. Math. 53 (1979), 193--225), which corresponds to $\om=1$.
Elementary Proof of MacMahon's Conjecture

Major Percy A. MacMahon's first paper on plane partitions included a conjectured generating function for symmetric plane partitions. This conjecture was proven almost simultaneously by George Andrews and Ian Macdonald, Andrews using the machinery of basic hypergeometric series and Macdonald employing his knowledge of symmetric functions. The purpose of this paper is to simplify Macdonald's proof by providing a direct, inductive proof of his formula which expresses the sum of Schur functions whose partitions fit inside a rectangular box as a ratio of determinants.
