Non-Rascoe partitions and a rank parity function associated to the Rogers-Ramanujan partitions
We study the generating function of the excess number of Rogers-Ramanujan partitions with odd rank over those with even rank, and, using combinatorial and analytical techniques, show that this generating function is closely connected with an interesting class of restricted partitions, namely, partitions into distinct parts where the number of parts is not a part. We derive arithmetic properties of the number of such partitions and conjecture an interesting mod $4$ congruence. Generalizations of most of these results in a parameter $\ell$ are also obtained.
Some identities of the sums-of-tails type
A new sums-of-tails identity involving two parameters $b$ and $d$ is obtained and is used to derive more results of similar type. One of Ramanujan's sums-of-tails identities from the Lost Notebook is shown to be a special case of our result. In the course of deriving Ramanujan's identity, we obtain a new result of combinatorial significance. Two new representations for an infinite series associated to a mock theta function are derived. Also, we give an application of an identity of Andrews and Onofri.
The Rogers-Ramanujan dissection of a theta function
Page 27 of Ramanujan's Lost Notebook contains a beautiful identity which not only gives, as a special case, a famous modular relation between the Rogers-Ramanujan functions $G(q)$ and $H(q)$ but also a relation between two fifth order mock theta functions and $G(q)$ and $H(q)$. We generalize Ramanujan's relation with the help of a parameter $s$ to get an infinite family of such identities. Our result shows that a theta function can always be ``dissected'' as a finite sum of products of generalized Rogers-Ramanujan functions. Several well-known results are shown to be consequences of our theorem, for example, a generalization of the Jacobi triple product identity and Andrews' relation between two of his generalized third order mock theta functions. We give enough evidence, through asymptotic analysis as well as by other means, to show that the identities we get from our main result for $s>2$ transcend the modular world and hence look difficult to be written in the form of a modular relation. Using asymptotic analysis, we also offer a clinching evidence that explains how Ramanujan may have arrived at his generalized modular relation.
Modular relations involving generalized digamma functions
Generalized digamma functions $ψ_k(x)$, studied by Ramanujan, Deninger, Dilcher, Kanemitsu, Ishibashi etc., appear as the Laurent series coefficients of the zeta function associated to an indefinite quadratic form. In this paper, a modular relation of the form $F_k(α)=F_k(1/α)$ containing infinite series of $ψ_k(x)$, or, equivalently, between the generalized Stieltjes constants $γ_k(x)$, is obtained for any $k\in\mathbb{N}$. When $k=0$, it reduces to a famous transformation given on page $220$ of Ramanujan's Lost Notebook. For $k=1$, an integral containing Riemann's $Ξ$-function, and corresponding to the aforementioned modular relation, is also obtained along with its asymptotic expansions as $α\to0$ and $α\to\infty$. Carlitz-type and Guinand-type finite modular relations involving $ψ_j^{(m)}(x), 0\leq j\leq k, m\in\mathbb{N}\cup\{0\},$ are also derived, thereby extending previous results on the digamma function $ψ(x)$. The extension of Guinand's result for $ψ_j^{(m)}(x), m\geq2,$ involves an interesting combinatorial sum $h(r)$ over integer partitions of $2r$ into exactly $r$ parts. This sum plays a crucial role in an inversion formula needed for this extension. This formula has connection with the inversion formula for the inverse of a triangular Toeplitz matrix. The modular relation for $ψ_j'(x)$ is subtle and requires delicate analysis.

Bhoria, Eyyunni and Maji recently obtained a four-parameter $q$-series identity which gives as special cases not only all five entries of Ramanujan on pages 354 and 355 of his second notebook but also allows them to obtain an analytical proof of a result of Bressoud and Subbarao. Here, we obtain a finite analogue of their identity which naturally gives finite analogues of Ramanujan's results. Using one of these finite analogues, we deduce an identity for a finite sum involving a ${}_2φ_1$. This identity is then applied to obtain a generalization of the generating function version of Andrews' famous identity for the smallest parts function $\textup{spt}(n)$. The $q$-series which generalizes $\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\textup{spt}(n)q^n$ is completely different from $S(z, q)$ considered by Andrews, Garvan and Liang. Further applications of our identity are given. Lastly we generalize a result of Andrews, Chan and Kim which involves the first odd moments of rank and crank.

We obtain a three-parameter $q$-series identity that generalizes two results of Chan and Mao. By specializing our identity, we derive new results of combinatorial significance in connection with $N(r, s, m, n)$, a function counting certain overpartition pairs recently introduced by Bringmann, Lovejoy and Osburn. For example, one of our identities gives a closed-form evaluation of a double series in terms of Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind, thereby resulting in an analogue of Euler's pentagonal number theorem. Another of our results expresses a multi-sum involving $N(r, s, m, n)$ in terms of just the partition function $p(n)$. Using a result of Shimura we also relate a certain double series with a weight 7/2 theta series.

George Andrews and Ae Ja Yee recently established beautiful results involving bivariate generalizations of the third order mock theta functions $ω(q)$ and $ν(q)$, thereby extending their earlier results with the second author. Generalizing the Andrews-Yee identities for trivariate generalizations of these mock theta functions remained a mystery, as pointed out by Li and Yang in their recent work. We partially solve this problem and generalize these identities. Several new as well as well-known results are derived. For example, one of our two main theorems gives, as a corollary, a special case of Soon-Yi Kang's three-variable reciprocity theorem. A relation between a new restricted overpartition function $p^{*}(n)$ and a weighted partition function $p_*(n)$ is obtained from one of the special cases of our second theorem.
A simple proof of a congruence for a series involving the little $q$-Jacobi polynomials
We give a simple and a more explicit proof of a mod $4$ congruence for a series involving the little $q$-Jacobi polynomials which arose in a recent study of a certain restricted overpartition function.
Untrodden pathways in the theory of the restricted partition function $p(n, N)$
We obtain a finite analogue of a recent generalization of an identity in Ramanujan's Notebooks. Differentiating it with respect to one of the parameters leads to a result whose limiting case gives a finite analogue of Andrews' famous identity for $\textup{spt}(n)$. The latter motivates us to extend the theory of the restricted partition function $p(n, N)$, namely, the number of partitions of $n$ with largest parts less than or equal to $N$, by obtaining the finite analogues of rank and crank for vector partitions as well as of the rank and crank moments. As an application of the identity for our finite analogue of the spt-function, namely $\textup{spt}(n, N)$, we prove an inequality between the finite second rank and crank moments. The other results obtained include finite analogues of a recent identity of Garvan, an identity relating $d(n, N)$ and lpt$(n, N)$, namely the finite analogues of the divisor and largest parts functions respectively, and a finite analogue of the Beck-Chern theorem. We also conjecture an inequality between the finite analogues of $k^{\textup{th}}$ rank and crank moments.

A generalization of a beautiful $q$-series identity found in the unorganized portion of Ramanujan's second and third notebooks is obtained. As a consequence, we derive a new three-parameter identity which is a rich source of partition-theoretic information. In particular, we use this identity to obtain a generalization of a recent result of Andrews, Garvan and Liang, which itself generalizes the famous result of Fokkink, Fokkink and Wang. This three-parameter identity also leads to several new weighted partition identities as well as a natural proof of a recent result of Garvan. This natural proof gives interesting number-theoretic information along the way. We also obtain a new result consisting of an infinite series involving a special case of Fine's function $F(a,b;t)$, namely, $F(0,q^n;cq^n)$. For $c=1$, this gives Andrews' famous identity for $\mathrm{spt}(n)$ whereas for $c=-1, 0$ and $q$, it unravels new relations that the divisor function $d(n)$ has with other partition-theoretic functions such as the largest parts function $\mathrm{lpt}(n)$.

The modified Bernoulli numbers $B_{n}^{*}$ considered by Zagier are generalized to modified Nörlund polynomials ${B_{n}^{(\ell)*}}$. For $\ell\in\mathbb{N}$, an explicit expression for the generating function for these polynomials is obtained. Evaluations of some spectacular integrals involving Chebyshev polynomials, and of a finite sum involving integrals of the Hurwitz zeta function are also obtained. New results about the $\ell$-fold convolution of the square hyperbolic secant distribution are obtained, such as a differential-difference equation satisfied by a logarithmic moment and a closed-form expression in terms of the Barnes zeta function.

We give a new generalization of the spt-function of G.E. Andrews, namely $\textup{Spt}_j(n)$, and give its combinatorial interpretation in terms of successive lower-Durfee squares. We then generalize the higher order spt-function $\textup{spt}_k(n)$, due to F.G. Garvan, to ${}_j\textup{spt}_{k}(n)$, thus providing a two-fold generalization of $\textup{spt}(n)$, and give its combinatorial interpretation.
