Matrix symmetric and quasi-symmetric functions and noncommutative representation theory
A fundamental result by L. Solomon in algebraic combinatorics and representation theory states that Mackey formulas for products of characters of a symmetric group, or equivalently the computation of tensor products of representations thereof, can be lifted to the corresponding Solomon's descent algebra, a subalgebra of the group algebra with a very rich structure. Motivated by the structure of the product formula in these algebras and by other results and ideas in the field, we introduce and investigate in the present article a two dimensional analogue of descent algebras based on packed integer matrices that inherits most of their fundamental properties. One of the various bialgebra structures we introduce on packed integer matrices identifies with a bialgebra recently introduced by J. Diehl and L. Schmitz to define a two dimensional generalisation of Chen's iterated integrals signatures.

The Fortuin-Kasteleyn polynomial as a bialgebra morphism and applications to the Tutte polynomial
We compute an explicit formula for the antipode of the double bialgebra of graphs in terms of totally acyclic partial orientations, using some general results on double bialgebras. In analogy to what was already proven in Hopf-algebraic terms for the chromatic polynomial of a graph, we show that the Fortuin-Kasteleyn polynomial (a variant of the Tutte polynomial) is a morphism of the double algebra of graphs into that of polynomials, which generalizes the chromatic polynomial. When specialized at particular values, we give combinatorial interpretations of the Tutte polynomial of a graph, via covering graphs and covering forests, and of the Fortuin-Kasteleyn polynomial, via pairs of vertex--edge colorings. Finally we show that the map associating to a graph all its orientations is a Hopf morphism from the double bialgebra of graphs into that one of oriented graphs, allowing to give interpretations of the Fortuin-Kasteleyn polynomial when computed at negative values.

Primitive Elements of the Hopf Algebras of Tableaux
Published • View PublicationBIB
The character theory of symmetric groups, and the theory of symmetric functions, both make use of the combinatorics of Young tableaux, such as the Robinson-Schensted algorithm, Schuetzenberger's "jeu de taquin", and evacuation. In 1995 Poirier and the second author introduced some algebraic structures, different from the plactic monoid, which induce some products and coproducts of tableaux, with homomorphisms. Their starting point are the two dual Hopf algebras of permutations, introduced by the authors in 1995. In 2006 Aguiar and Sottile studied in more detail the Hopf algebra of permutations: among other things, they introduce a new basis, by Moebius inversion in the poset of weak order, that allows them to describe the primitive elements of the Hopf algebra of permutations. In the present note, by a similar method, we determine the primitive elements of the Poirier-Reutenauer algebra of tableaux, using a partial order on tableaux defined by Taskin.
A theory of pictures for quasi-posets
Published • View PublicationBIB
The theory of pictures between posets is known to encode much of the combinatorics of symmetric group representations and related topics such as Young diagrams and tableaux. Many reasons, com-binatorial (e.g. since semi-standard tableaux can be viewed as double quasi-posets) and topological (quasi-posets identify with finite topolo-gies) lead to extend the theory to quasi-posets. This is the object of the present article.

Symmetril Moulds, Generic Group Schemes, Resummation of Mzvs
Published • View PublicationBIB
The present article deals with various generating series and group schemes (not necessarily affine ones) associated with MZVs. Our developments are motivated by Ecalle's mould calculus approach to the latter. We propose in particular a Hopf algebra--type encoding of symmetril moulds and introduce a new resummation process for MZVs.
The maximum cardinality of minimal inversion complete sets in finite reflection groups
Published in Journal of Algebra , 424 (2015), 330-356 • View PublicationBIB
We compute for reflection groups of type $A,B,D,F_4,H_3$ and for dihedral groups a statistic counting the maximal cardinality of a set of elements in the group whose generalized inversions yield the full set of inversions and which are minimal with respect to this property. We also provide lower bounds for the $E$ types that we conjecture to be the exact value of our statistic.
Daisies and Other Turan Problems
We make some conjectures about extremal densities of daisy-free families, where a `daisy' is a certain hypergraph. These questions turn out to be related to some Turan problems in the hypercube, but they are also natural in their own right.
Graph-different permutations
We strengthen and put in a broader perspective previous results of the first two authors on colliding permutations. The key to the present approach is a new non-asymptotic invariant for graphs.
