A short proof of Erdős's $B+C$ conjecture
We give a short proof of the fact that every set of natural numbers with positive upper Banach density contains the sum of two infinite sets. The approach simplifies earlier existing proofs.
The Density Finite Sums Theorem
For any set $A$ of natural numbers with positive upper Banach density and any $k\geq 1$, we show the existence of an infinite set $B\subset{\mathbb N}$ and a shift $t\geq0$ such that $A-t$ contains all sums of $m$ distinct elements from $B$ for all $m\in\{1,\ldots,k\}$. This can be viewed as a density analog of Hindman's finite sums theorem. Our proof reveals the natural relationships among infinite sumsets, the dynamics underpinning arithmetic progressions, and homogeneous spaces of nilpotent Lie groups.
Problems on infinite sumset configurations in the integers and beyond
In contrast to finite arithmetic configurations, relatively little is known about which infinite patterns can be found in every set of natural numbers with positive density. Building on recent advances showing infinite sumsets can be found, we explore numerous open problems and obstructions to finding other infinite configurations in every set of natural numbers with positive density.

We show that every set $A$ of natural numbers with positive upper density can be shifted to contain the restricted sumset $\{b_1 + b_2 : b_1, b_2\in B \text{ and } b_1 \neq b_2 \}$ for some infinite set $B \subset A$.

Motivated by questions asked by Erdos, we prove that any set $A\subset{\mathbb N}$ with positive upper density contains, for any $k\in{\mathbb N}$, a sumset $B_1+\cdots+B_k$, where $B_1,\dots,B_k\subset{\mathbb N}$ are infinite. Our proof uses ergodic theory and relies on structural results for measure preserving systems. Our techniques are new, even for the previously known case of $k=2$.

We give a simple proof of a major index determinant formula in the symmetric group discovered by Krattenthaler and first proved by Thibon using noncommutative symmetric functions. We do so by proving a factorization of an element in the group ring of the symmetric group. By applying similar methods to the groups of signed permutations and colored permutations, we prove determinant formulas in these groups as conjectured by Krattenthaler.

In this paper we show that every set $A \subset \mathbb{N}$ with positive density contains $B+C$ for some pair $B,C$ of infinite subsets of $\mathbb{N}$, settling a conjecture of Erdős. The proof features two different decompositions of an arbitrary bounded sequence into a structured component and a pseudo-random component. Our methods are quite general, allowing us to prove a version of this conjecture for countable amenable groups.

We construct, in locally compact, second countable, amenable groups, sets with large density that fail to have certain combinatorial properties. For the property of being a shift of a set of measurable recurrence we show that this is possible when the group does not have cocompact von Neumann kernel. For the stronger property of being piecewise-syndetic we show that this is always possible.
For minimally almost periodic, locally compact, second countable, amenable groups, we prove that any dilation of a positive density set by an open neighborhood of the identity contains a set of measurable recurrence, and that the same result holds, up to a shift, when the von Neumann kernel is cocompact. This leads to a trichotomy for locally compact, second countable, amenable groups based on combinatorial properties of large sets. We also prove, using a two-sided Furstenberg correspondence principle, that any two-sided dilation of a positive density set contains a two-sided finite products set.
