A Ridge-Saturation Characterization of $α$-Critical $\mathbf {W}_p$ Graphs
We characterize the graphs which are simultaneously $α$-critical and members of the class $\mathbf W_p$. The characterization is stated in three equivalent languages. In the graph itself, such a graph is a well-covered graph whose codimension-one localization fibers all have size at least $p$ and whose edges are exactly covered by the cliques induced by those fibers. In the independence complex, it is a pure flag complex in which every ridge has degree at least $p$ and every missing edge is generated by the link of a ridge. In the complement, it is a $K_{r+1}$-saturated graph, where $r=α(G)$, all maximal cliques have size $r$, and the minimum $(r-1)$-clique-codegree is at least $p$. This gives an exact formula for the largest $p$ for which a well-covered graph belongs to $\mathbf W_p$. We make this complement correspondence explicit, record saturation-theoretic consequences including dense-complement rigidity and $p$-sensitive edge and order bounds, and give a family of sharp examples showing that the local sufficient condition from the recent work of Hoang, Levit and Mandrescu is not necessary outside the locally triangle-free setting, for all $p\ge2$.

The 2-Quasi-Regularizability Conjecture and Independence Polynomials of Wp Graphs
Hoang, Levit, Mandrescu and Pham asked for structural conditions ensuring that the independence polynomial of a $\W_p$ graph is log-concave, or at least unimodal, and conjectured that a connected $\W_2$ graph is $2$-quasi-regularizable if and only if $n(G)\ge 3α(G)$ (2026). We prove the conjecture. The key point is a local expansion theorem: if $G$ is connected and belongs to $\W_2$, then every non-maximum independent set $A$ satisfies \[ |N_G(A)|\ge 2|A|. \] Thus the only possible obstruction to $2$-quasi-regularizability in a connected $\W_2$ graph comes from maximum independent sets, where the condition is exactly $n(G)-α(G)\ge 2α(G)$. We also give coefficient criteria for log-concavity and unimodality of independence polynomials of $\W_p$ graphs. These criteria combine the standard two-sided coefficient inequalities, as collected by Hoang--Levit--Mandrescu--Pham, with $λ$-quasi-regularizability. The new $p=2$ threshold proved here inserts the missing case into the same framework and yields explicit log-concavity and unimodality regions for connected $\W_2$ graphs.

On the Determinant of Kőnig-Egerváry Graphs
Several graph decompositions that factorize the determinant of the adjacency matrix isolate a Kőnig-Egerváry part, such as the SD--KE decomposition and the critical independence decomposition of Larson. This suggests that the study of graph unimodularity can be approached, to a large extent, through the structure of Kőnig-Egerváry graphs. In this paper we advance this point of view by introducing a new determinant factorization inside the class of Kőnig-Egerváry graphs. More precisely, given a Kőnig-Egerváry graph $G$, we consider the partition of $V(G)$ into its perfect-flower part $PF(G)$ and its perfect-flower-free part $PFF(G)$, and prove that \[ \det(G)=\det(G[PF(G)])\det(G[PFF(G)]). \] We also obtain the analogous factorization for the permanent. This decomposition provides a new tool for the study of unimodularity, reducing the problem to two induced subgraphs of a very different nature: the graph $G[PF(G)]$, whose structure is closely related to Sterboul--Deming configurations with perfect matching, and the graph $G[PFF(G)]$, which is governed by the theory of critical independent sets. In this way, the paper gives a new structural framework for the study of unimodular graphs through Kőnig-Egerváry theory.

Graphs with core(G) = nucleus(G)
Let $G$ be a finite simple graph. An independent set $I$ of $G$ is critical if $\left|I\right|-\left|N(I)\right|\ge\left|J\right|-\left|N(J)\right|$ for every independent set $J$ of $G$. A critical independent set is maximum if it has maximum cardinality. The $core$ and the $nucleus$ of $G$ are defined as the intersection of all maximum independent sets and the intersection of all maximum critical independent sets, respectively. In 2019, Jarden, Levit, and Mandrescu posed the problem of characterizing the graphs satisfying $core(G)=nucleus(G)$. In this paper, we provide a complete solution to this problem. Using Larson's independence decomposition, which partitions any graph into a König--Egerváry component $L_G$ an a $2$-bicritical component $L_G^c$, we establish that $core(G)=nucleus(G)$ holds if and only if $core ({L_G^c})=\emptyset$ and no vertex of $corona(G)$ lies in the boundary between $L_G$ and $L_G^c$. We also show that the same boundary condition is equivalent to the identity $diadem(G)=corona(G) \cap L(G)$. Several consequences and related structural properties are also derived.

A characterization of graphs with $\a{\corona G}+\a{\core G}=2α(G)+1$
A Kőnig--Egerváry graph is a graph $G$ satisfying $α(G)+μ(G)=n(G)$, where $α(G)$, $μ(G)$, and $n(G)$ denote the independence number, the matching number, and the order of $G$, respectively. Let $\textnormal{core}(G)$ and $\textnormal{corona}(G)$ be the intersection and the union of all maximum independent sets of $G$. In this paper, we provide a complete characterization of graphs satisfying $\a{\corona G}+\a{\core G}=2α(G)+1$, thus giving a solution to an open problem posed by Levit and Mandrescu. It is known that for a non-Kőnig--Egerváry graph with a unique odd cycle, the following hold: $\ker G=\textnormal{core}(G),\allowbreak\ \left|\textnormal{corona}(G)\right| +\left|\textnormal{core}(G)\right| =2α(G)+1,\allowbreak\ \textnormal{corona}(G)\cup N(\textnormal{core}(G))=V(G)$. We extend these three results to a family of graphs containing an arbitrarily large number of odd cycles.

Core and Corona in 2-Bicritical Odd-Bicyclic Graphs
Let $\core G$ and $\corona G$ denote the intersection and the union, respectively, of all maximum independent sets of a graph $G$. A graph is called \emph{$2$-bicritical} if $\a{N(S)}>\a S$ for every nonempty independent set $S$. Pulleyblank 1979 showed that almost all graphs are $2$-bicritical. In this paper, we study the structure of maximum independent sets in $2$-bicritical graphs with at most two odd cycles. Using ear--pendant decompositions, we obtain a complete structural classification of these graphs into four families: one-odd cycle, fused-odd, even-linked, and odd-linked graphs. For each family, we compute explicitly $α(G)$, $\core G$, and $\corona G$, and describe the corresponding matching structure. We prove that $\a{\core G}+\a{\corona G}$ equals either $2α(G),2α(G)+1$ or $2α(G)+2$, and we give a complete, purely structural characterization of the graphs in each case in terms of the relative position of their odd cycles. These results extend a theory originally developed for König--Egerváry graphs and later for almost bipartite graphs to a broader non-König--Egerváry setting.

Structural and Polynomial-Time Results on Core and Corona in Odd-Bicyclic Graphs
Let $\core G$ and $\corona G$ denote the intersection and the union, respectively, of all maximum independent sets of a graph $G$. In this work, we show that for a graph with at most two odd cycles, $\a{\core G}+\a{\corona G}$ is equal to $2α(G)$, $2α(G)+1$, or $2α(G)+2$, and we precisely characterize when each value occurs. We further characterize graphs with at most two odd cycles that admit the core--corona partition $V(G)=\corona G\ud N(\core G)$, extending known results for König--Egerváry and almost bipartite graphs. Deciding whether $\core G=\emptyset$ is known to be \textbf{NP}-hard. As an algorithmic consequence of the obtained results, we show that the core, independence number and the corona can be computed in polynomial time for this class of graphs.

On Bipartite-Almost Bipartite Graphs and the Determinantal Factorization
A graph is almost bipartite if it contains exactly one odd cycle, and it is Konig-Egervary if the sum of the independence number and the matching number equals the order of the graph. We introduce the class of Bipartite-Almost Bipartite graphs (BAB-graphs), defined through a controlled union of a bipartite graph and several almost bipartite non-Konig-Egervary graphs. This family unifies and generalizes the previously studied classes of almost bipartite non-Konig-Egervary and R-disjoint graphs. While an almost bipartite non-Konig-Egervary graph contains a single odd cycle, an R-disjoint graph has exactly k pairwise disjoint odd cycles. A BAB-graph may contain many odd cycles that are not necessarily disjoint. We describe the structure of BAB-graphs by means of the Gallai-Edmonds decomposition and obtain explicit expressions for nucleus(G), diadem(G), and ker(G), which allow us to extend several known results for the previous classes. Moreover, we show that the determinant of the adjacency matrix of a BAB-graph can be factorized in terms of the determinants of the adjacency matrices of its component graphs. As a consequence, we confirm the conjecture stating the validity of this factorization for R-disjoint graphs. Finally, we derive combinatorial consequences of these results and establish new bounds for |corona(G)| + |ker(G)|.

Inequalities Involving Core, Corona, and Critical Sets in General Graphs
Let $α(G)$ denote the cardinality of a maximum independent set. An independent set $I$ of $G$ is critical if $\left|I\right|-\left|N(I)\right|\ge\left|J\right|-\left|N(J)\right|$ for every independent set $J$ of $G$. Let $\text{core}(G)$ and $\text{corona}(G)$ be the intersection/union of all maximum independent sets of $G$. Let $\text{ker}(G)$ and $\text{diadem}(G)$ be the intersection/union of all critical independent sets of $G$. In this paper we prove that \[ \left|\text{corona}(G)\right|+\left|\text{core}(G)\right|\le2α(G)+k, \] \noindent where $k$ is the number of vertex-distinct odd cycles in $G$, thus confirming a recent conjecture in the area. Moreover, we prove that \[ \left|\text{nucleus}(G)\right|+\left|\text{diadem}(G)\right|\le2α(G), \] \noindent thereby confirming another conjecture (Levit--Mandrescu 2014). As an application of these facts, we obtain a chain of inequalities \[ \left|\text{nucleus}(G)\right|+\left|\text{diadem}(G)\right|\le2α(G)\le\left|\text{corona}(G)\right|+\left|\text{core}(G)\right|\le2α(G)+k. \] \noindent The paper concludes with a collection of related open problems.

On the minimum degree of minimal $k$-$\{1,2\}$-factor critical $k$-planar graphs
A graph of order $n$ is said to be $k$-\emph{factor-critical} $(0\le k<n)$ if the removal of any $k$ vertices results in a graph with a perfect matching. A $k$-factor-critical graph $G$ is \emph{minimal} if $G-e$ is not $k$-factor-critical for any edge $e$ in $G$. In 1998, Favaron and Shi posed the conjecture that every minimal $k$-factor-critical graph is of minimum degree $k+1$. A natural extension of this notion arises from $\{1,2\}$-factors. A spanning subgraph of $G$ is called a $\{1,2\}$-factor if each of its components is a regular graph of degree one or two. A graph is $k$-\emph{$\{1,2\}$-factor critical} if the removal of any $k$ vertices results in a graph with a $\{1,2\}$-factor. A recent conjecture in the area states that every minimal $k$-$\{1,2\}$-factor critical graph $G$ satisfies $k+1\le δ(G)\le k+2$. In this paper, we prove that the conjecture holds for $k$-planar graphs, that is, graphs in which the deletion of any set of $k$ vertices yields a planar graph. In particular, this resolves the conjecture for planar graphs.
Generalized Edmonds-Sterboul-Deming configurations. Part 1: Sterboul-Deming graphs
We introduce two new types of graph configurations, the Jflower and the Jposy, which generalize the classical flower and posy configurations of Edmonds, Sterboul, and Deming in the context of maximum matchings. These generalized configurations allow greater flexibility in characterizing non-Konig-Egerváry graphs and provide new tools for studying matching-theoretic properties. Our main result shows that the sets of vertices covered by classical configurations (flowers and posies), restricted configurations (Tposies), and generalized configurations (Jflowers and Jposies) coincide. This equivalence yields a unified characterization of what we call Sterboul-Deming graphs, graphs in which every vertex belongs to some configuration relative to an appropriate maximum matching.

Sterboul-Deming Graphs: Characterizations
A graph is said to be a Sterboul--Deming graph if $KE(G)=\emptyset$, that is, if every vertex of $G$ belongs to a posy or a flower (structures introduced by Sterboul, Deming, and Edmonds). These graphs can be regarded as the structural counterparts of König--Egerváry graphs. In this paper, we present several characterizations of Sterboul--Deming graphs. We first study the case of graphs with a perfect matching and with a unique perfect matching, providing a constructive algorithm to obtain the decomposition $(SD(G), KE(G))$. Then, we extend the analysis to the general case through the Gallai--Edmonds decomposition. In addition, we show that the class of Sterboul--Deming graphs is remarkably broad: it contains all graphs having a $\{C_n : n \textnormal{ odd}\}$-factor, providing a simple structural criterion for identifying such graphs. These results establish new connections between classical decomposition theorems and the internal structure of non--König--Egerváry graphs.

On R-disjoint graphs: a generalization of almost bipartite non-König-Egerváry graphs
An almost bipartite graph is a graph with a unique odd cycle. Levit and Mandrescu showed that in every non-König--Egerváry almost bipartite graph the equalities $\textnormal{ker}(G)=\textnormal{core}(G)$, $\textnormal{corona}(G)\cup N(\textnormal{core}(G)) = V(G)$ and $\left|\textnormal{corona}(G)\right|+\left|\textnormal{core}(G)\right|=2α(G)+1$ hold. In this work, we present a generalization of this theory by introducing the family of $R$-disjoint graphs, which contains all non-König--Egerváry almost bipartite graphs, allowing the presence of multiple odd cycles under connectivity constraints based on the reach sets $R(C)$. We prove that $R$-disjoint graphs preserve the fundamental properties of almost bipartite graphs: $\textnormal{ker}(G)=\textnormal{core}(G)$ and $\textnormal{corona}(G)\cup N(\textnormal{core}(G))=V(G)$. Moreover, we establish the formula $\left|\textnormal{corona}(G)\right|+\left|\textnormal{core}(G)\right|=2α(G)+k$, where $k$ is the number of disjoint odd cycles in $G$, which refines the previously known particular case when $k=1$. $R$-disjoint graphs naturally induce a canonical decomposition; we obtain structural properties of this decomposition and, as a consequence, verify a recent conjecture of Levit and Mandrescu.
Generalized Edmonds-Sterboul-Deming configurations Part 3: Determinantal multiplicativity of the SD-KE decomposition of matchable graphs
In this work it is shown that the SD-KE decomposition is multiplicative under determinantal-type functions for graphs with perfect matchings, providing a new tool for the study of unimodular and singular matchable graphs.
On the nullspace of split graphs
We study the nullspace of the adjacency matrix of split graphs, whose vertex set can be partitioned into a clique and an independent set. We introduce the clique-kernel, a subspace that decides whether clique vertices lie in the support of a kernel eigenvector, and we prove that its dimension is at most one. This yields the formula $null(Sp) = null(R) + \dim(\mathrm{Cker}(Sp))$, which fully describes the nullity of a split graph in terms of the biadjacency submatrix $R$. We also analyze unbalanced split graphs through the concept of swing vertices and characterize the structure of their kernel supports. Furthermore, we study the behavior of the nullspace under Tyshkevich composition and derive a closed formula for the determinant. These results provide a unified algebraic framework for understanding when a split graph is singular and how its combinatorial structure determines its nullspace.
