The least distance eigenvalue of the complements of graphs of diameter greater than three
Suppose $G$ is a connected simple graph with the vertex set $V( G ) = \{ v_1,v_2,\cdots ,v_n \} $. Let $d_G( v_i,v_j ) $ be the least distance between $v_i$ and $v_j$ in $G$. Then the distance matrix of $G$ is $D( G ) =( d_{ij} ) _{n\times n}$, where $d_{ij}=d_G( v_i,v_j ) $. Since $D( G )$ is a non-negative real symmetric matrix, its eigenvalues can be arranged as $λ_1(G)\ge λ_2(G)\ge \cdots \ge λ_n(G)$, where eigenvalue $λ_n(G)$ is called the least distance eigenvalue of $G$. In this paper we determine the unique graph whose least distance eigenvalue attains maximum among all complements of graphs of diameter greater than three.

Let $G$ be a simple connected simple graph of order $n$. The distance Laplacian matrix $D^{L}(G)$ is defined as $D^L(G)=Diag(Tr)-D(G)$, where $Diag(Tr)$ is the diagonal matrix of vertex transmissions and $D(G)$ is the distance matrix of $G$. The eigenvalues of $D^{L}(G)$ are the distance Laplacian eigenvalues of $G$ and are denoted by $\partial_{1}^{L}(G), \partial_{2}^{L}(G),\dots,\partial_{n}^{L}(G)$. The \textit{ distance Laplacian spread} $DLS(G)$ of a connected graph $G$ is the difference between largest and second smallest distance Laplacian eigenvalues, that is, $\partial_{1}^{L}(G)-\partial_{n-1}^{L}(G)$. We obtain bounds for $DLS(G)$ in terms of the Wiener index $W(G)$, order $n$ and the maximum transmission degree $Tr_{max}(G)$ of $G$ and characterize the extremal graphs. We obtain two lower bounds for $DLS(G)$, the first one in terms of the order, diameter and the Wiener index of the graph, and the second one in terms of the order, maximum degree and the independence number of the graph. For a connected $ k-partite$ graph $G$, $k\leq n-1$, with $n$ vertices having disconnected complement, we show that
$ DLS(G)\geq \Big \lfloor \frac{n}{k}\Big \rfloor$ with equality if and only if $G$ is a $complete ~ k-partite$ graph having cardinality of each independent class same and $n \equiv 0 \pmod k$.

Let $G$ be a finite, connected, simple graph. The critical group $K(G)$, also known as the sandpile group, is the torsion subgroup of the cokernel of the graph Laplacian $\operatorname{cok}(L)$. We investigate a family of graphs with relatively simple non-cyclic critical group with an end goal of understanding whether multiple divisors, i.e., formal linear combinations of vertices of $G$, generate $K(G)$. These graphs, referred to as hinge graphs, can be intuitively understood by taking multiple base shapes and ``gluing" them together by a single shared edge and two corresponding shared vertices. In the case where all base shapes are identical, we compute the explicit structure of the critical group. Additionally, we compute the order of three special divisors. We prove the structure of the critical group of hinge graphs when variance in the number of vertices of each base shape is allowed, generalizing many of the aforementioned results.
The spectra of the complements of graphs with given connectivity
Spectral radius of a graph $G$ is the largest eigenvalue of adjacency matrix of $G$. The least eigenvalue of a graph $G$ is the least eigenvalue of adjacency matrix of $G$. In this paper we determine the graphs which attain respectively the minimum spectral radius and the minimum least eigenvalue among all complements of connected simple graphs with given connectivity. A note on local antimagic chromatic number of lexicographic product graphs
Let $G = (V,E)$ be a connected simple graph. A bijection $f: E \rightarrow \{1,2,\ldots,|E|\}$ is called a local antimagic labeling of $G$ if $f^+(u) \neq f^+(v)$ holds for any two adjacent vertices $u$ and $v$, where $f^+(u) = \sum_{e\in E(u)} f(e)$ and $E(u$) is the set of edges incident to $u$. A graph $G$ is called local antimagic if $G$ admits at least a local antimagic labeling. The local antimagic chromatic number, denoted $χ_{la}(G)$, is the minimum number of induced colors taken over local antimagic labelings of $G$. Let $G$ and $H$ be two disjoint graphs. The graph $G[H]$ is obtained by the lexicographic product of $G$ and $H$. In this paper, we obtain sufficient conditions for $χ_{la}(G[H])\leq χ_{la}(G)χ_{la}(H)$. Consequently, we give examples of $G$ and $H$ such that $χ_{la}(G[H]) = χ(G)χ(H)$, where $χ(G)$ is the chromatic number of $G$. We conjecture that (i) there are infinitely many graphs $G$ and $H$ such that $χ_{la}(G[H])=χ_{la}(G)χ_{la}(H) = χ(G)χ(H)$, and (ii) for $k\ge 1$, $χ_{la}(G[H]) = χ(G)χ(H)$ if and only if $χ(G)χ(H) = 2χ(H) + \lceil\frac{χ(H)}{k}\rceil$, where $2k+1$ is the length of a shortest odd cycle in $G$.

For $q\in\mathbb{R}$, the $Q$-matrix $Q=Q_q$ of a connected simple graph $G=(V,E)$ is $Q_q=(q^{\partial(x,y)})_{x,y\in V}$, where $\partial$ denotes the path-length distance. Describing the set $π(G)$ consisting of those $q\in \mathbb{R}$ for which $Q_q$ is positive semidefinite is fundamental in asymptotic spectral analysis of graphs from the viewpoint of quantum probability theory. Assume that $G$ has at least two vertices. Then $π(G)$ is easily seen to be a nonempty closed subset of the interval $[-1,1]$. In this note, we show that $π(G)=[-1,1]$ if and only if $G$ is isometrically embeddable into a hypercube (infinite-dimensional if $G$ is infinite) if and only if $G$ is bipartite and does not possess certain five-vertex configurations, an example of which is an induced $K_{2,3}$.

Let $G = (V,E)$ be a connected simple graph of order $p$ and size $q$. A graph $G$ is called local antimagic if $G$ admits a local antimagic labeling. A bijection $f : E \to \{1,2,\ldots,q\}$ is called a local antimagic labeling of $G$ if for any two adjacent vertices $u$ and $v$, we have $f^+(u) \ne f^+(v)$, where $f^+(u) = \sum_{e\in E(u)} f(e)$, and $E(u)$ is the set of edges incident to $u$. Thus, any local antimagic labeling induces a proper vertex coloring of $G$ if vertex $v$ is assigned the color $f^+(v)$. The local antimagic chromatic number, denoted $χ_{la}(G)$, is the minimum number of induced colors taken over local antimagic labeling of $G$. Let $G$ and $H$ be two vertex disjoint graphs. The {\it lexicographic product} of $G$ and $H$, denoted $G[H]$, is the graph with vertex set $V(G) \times V(H)$, and $(u,u')$ is adjacent to $(v,v')$ in $G[H]$ if $(u,v)\in E(G)$ or if $u=v$ and $u'v'\in E(H)$. In this paper, we obtained sharp upper bound of $χ_{la}(G[O_n])$ where $O_n$ is a null graph of order $n\ge 1$. Sufficient conditions for even regular bipartite and tripartite graphs $G$ to have $χ_{la}(G)=3$ are also obtained. Consequently, we successfully determined the local antimagic chromatic number of infinitely many (connected and disconnected) regular graphs that partially support the existence of $r$-regular graph $G$ of order $p$ such that (i) $χ_{la}(G)=χ(G)=k$, and (ii) $χ_{la}(G)=χ(G)+1=k$ for each possible $r,p,k$.

The join graph of $G$ and $H$, denoted $G \vee H$, is the graph $V(G\vee H) = V(G) \cup V(H)$ and $E(G\vee H) = E(G) \cup E(H) \cup \{uv \,|\, u\in V(G), v \in V(H)\}$. In this paper, we show the existence of non-complete regular graphs with arbitrarily large order, regularity and local antimagic chromatic numbers.

Let $G = (V,E)$ be a connected simple graph of order $p$ and size $q$. A graph $G$ is called local antimagic (total) if $G$ admits a local antimagic (total) labeling. A bijection $g : E \to \{1,2,\ldots,q\}$ is called a local antimagic labeling of $G$ if for any two adjacent vertices $u$ and $v$, we have $g^+(u) \ne g^+(v)$, where $g^+(u) = \sum_{e\in E(u)} g(e)$, and $E(u)$ is the set of edges incident to $u$. Similarly, a bijection $f:V(G)\cup E(G)\to \{1,2,\ldots,p+q\}$ is called a local antimagic total labeling of $G$ if for any two adjacent vertices $u$ and $v$, we have $w_f(u)\ne w_f(v)$, where $w_f(u) = f(u) + \sum_{e\in E(u)} f(e)$. Thus, any local antimagic (total) labeling induces a proper vertex coloring of $G$ if vertex $v$ is assigned the color $g^+(v)$ (respectively, $w_f(u)$). The local antimagic (total) chromatic number, denoted $χ_{la}(G)$ (respectively $χ_{lat}(G)$), is the minimum number of induced colors taken over local antimagic (total) labeling of $G$. In this paper, we determined $χ_{lat}(G)$ where $G$ is the amalgamation of complete graphs.
On graphs with distance Laplacian eigenvalues of multiplicity $n-4$
Let $G$ be a connected simple graph with $n$ vertices. The distance Laplacian matrix $D^{L}(G)$ is defined as $D^L(G)=Diag(Tr)-D(G)$, where $Diag(Tr)$ is the diagonal matrix of vertex transmissions and $D(G)$ is the distance matrix of $G$. The eigenvalues of $D^{L}(G)$ are the distance Laplacian eigenvalues of $G$ and are denoted by $\partial_{1}^{L}(G)\geq \partial_{2}^{L}(G)\geq \dots \geq \partial_{n}^{L}(G)$. The largest eigenvalue $\partial_{1}^{L}(G)$ is called the distance Laplacian spectral radius. Lu et al. (2017), Fernandes et al. (2018) and Ma et al. (2018) completely characterized the graphs having some distance Laplacian eigenvalue of multiplicity $n-3$. In this paper, we characterize the graphs having distance Laplacian spectral radius of multiplicity $n-4$ together with one of the distance Laplacian eigenvalue as $n$ of multiplicity either 3 or 2. Further, we completely determine the graphs for which the distance Laplacian eigenvalue $n$ is of multiplicity $n-4$.

Let $G$ be a finite simple graph on the vertex set $V(G)$ and let $\text{ind-match}(G)$, $\text{min-match}(G)$ and $\text{match}(G)$ denote the induced matching number, the minimum matching number and the matching number of $G$, respectively. It is known that the inequalities $\text{ind-match}(G) \leq \text{min-match}(G) \leq \text{match}(G) \leq 2\text{min-match}(G)$ and $\text{match}(G) \leq \left\lfloor |V(G)|/2 \right\rfloor$ hold in general.
In the present paper, we determine the possible tuples $(p, q, r, n)$ with $\text{ind-match}(G) = p$, $\text{min-match}(G) = q$, $\text{match}(G) = r$ and $|V(G)| = n$ arising from connected simple graphs. As an application of this result, we also determine the possible tuples $(p', q, r, n)$ with ${\rm{reg}}(G) = p'$, $\text{min-match}(G) = q$, $\text{match}(G) = r$ and $|V(G)| = n$ arising from connected simple graphs, where $I(G)$ is the edge ideal of $G$ and ${\rm{reg}}(G) = {\rm{reg}}(K[V(G)]/I(G))$ is the Castelnuovo--Mumford regularity of the quotient ring $K[V(G)]/I(G)$.

For a finite connected simple graph, the Terwilliger algebra is a matrix algebra generated by the adjacency matrix and idempotents corresponding to the distance partition with respect to a fixed vertex. We will consider algebras defined by two other partitions and the centralizer algebra of the stabilizer of the fixed vertex in the automorphism group of the graph. We will give some methods to compute such algebras and examples for various graphs.

Let $G=(V,E)$ be a connected simple graph, with $n$ vertices such that $S$ is its homogeneous monomial subring. We prove that if $S$ is normal and Gorenstein, then $G$ is unmixed with cover number $\lceil\frac{n}{2}\rceil$ and $G$ has a strong $\lceil\frac{n}{2}\rceil$-$τ$-reduction. Furthermore, if $n$ is even, then we show that $G$ is bipartite. Finally, if $S$ is normal and $G$ is unmixed whose cover number is $\lceil\frac{n}{2}\rceil$, we give sufficient conditions for $S$ to be Gorenstein.
Constructing bounded degree graphs with prescribed degree and neighbor degree sequences
Let $D = d_1, d_2, \ldots, d_n$ and $F = f_1, f_2,\ldots, f_n$ be two sequences of positive integers. We consider the following decision problems: is there a $i)$ multigraph, $ii)$ loopless multigraph, $iii)$ simple graph, $iv)$ connected simple graph, $v)$ tree, $vi)$ caterpillar $G = (V,E)$ such that for all $k$, $d(v_k) = d_k$ and $\sum_{w\in \mathcal{N}(v_k)} d(w) = f_k$ ($d(v)$ is the degree of $v$ and $\mathcal{N}(v)$ is the set of neighbors of $v$). Here we show that all these decision problems can be solved in polynomial time if $\max_{k} d_k$ is bounded.
The problem is motivated by NMR spectroscopy of hydrocarbons.

For a non-negative integer $s\le |V(G)|-3$, a graph $G$ is $s$-Hamiltonian if the removal of any $k\le s$ vertices results in a Hamiltonian graph. Given a connected simple graph $G$ that is not isomorphic to a path, a cycle, or a $K_{1,3}$, let $δ(G)$ denote the minimum degree of $G$, let $h_s(G)$ denote the smallest integer $i$ such that the iterated line graph $L^{i}(G)$ is $s$-Hamiltonian, and let $\ell(G)$ denote the length of the longest non-closed path $P$ in which all internal vertices have degree 2 such that $P$ is not both of length 2 and in a $K_3$. For a simple graph $G$, we establish better upper bounds for $h_s(G)$ as follows. \begin{equation*} h_s(G)\le \left\{ \begin{aligned} & \ell(G)+1, &&\mbox{ if }δ(G)\le 2 \mbox{ and }s=0;\\ & \widetilde d(G)+2+\lceil \lg (s+1)\rceil, &&\mbox{ if }δ(G)\le 2 \mbox{ and }s\ge 1;\\ & 2+\left\lceil\lg\frac{s+1}{δ(G)-2}\right\rceil, && \mbox{ if } 3\leδ(G)\le s+2;\\ & 2, &&{\rm otherwise}, \end{aligned} \right. \end{equation*} where $\widetilde d(G)$ is the smallest integer $i$ such that $δ(L^i(G))\ge 3$. Consequently, when $s \ge 6$, this new upper bound for the $s$-hamiltonian index implies that $h_s(G) = o(\ell(G)+s+1)$ as $s \to \infty$. This sharpens the result, $h_s(G)\le\ell(G)+s+1$, obtained by Zhang et al. in [Discrete Math., 308 (2008) 4779-4785].

The discrete Green's functions are the pseudoinverse (or the inverse) of the Laplacian (or its variations) of a graph. In this paper, we will give combinatorial interpretations of Green's functions in terms of enumerating trees and forests in a graph that will be used to derive further formulas for several graph invariants. For example, we show that the trace of the Green's function $\mathbf{G}$ associated with the combinatorial Laplacian of a connected simple graph $Γ$ on $n$ vertices satisfies $\text{Tr}(\mathbf{G})=\sum_{λ_i \neq 0} \frac 1 {λ_i}= \frac{1}{nτ}|\mathbb{F}^*_2|$, where $λ_i$ denotes the eigenvalues of the combinatorial Laplacian, $τ$ denotes the number of spanning trees and $\mathbb{F}^*_2$ denotes the set of rooted spanning $2$-forests in $Γ$. We will prove forest formulas for discrete Green's functions for directed and weighted graphs and apply them to study random walks on graphs and digraphs. We derive a forest expression of the hitting time for digraphs, which gives combinatorial proofs to old and new results about hitting times, traces of discrete Green's functions, and other related quantities.
Minimal graph in which the intersection of two longest paths is not a separator
We prove that for a connected simple graph $G$ with $n\le 10$ vertices, and two longest paths $C$ and $D$ in $G$, the intersection of vertex sets $V(C)\cap V(D)$ is a separator. This shows that the graph found previously with $n=11$, in which the complement of the intersection of vertex sets $V(C)\cap V(D)$ of two longest paths is connected, is minimal.

Let $G$ be a prolific graph, that is a finite connected simple graph which is not isomorphic to a cycle nor a path nor the star graph $K_{1,3}$. The line-graph of $G$, denoted by $L(G)$, is defined by having its vertex-set equal to the edge-set of $G$ and two vertices of $L(G)$ are adjacent if the corresponding edges are adjacent in $G$. For a positive integer $k$, the iterated line-graph $L^k(G)$ is defined recursively by $L^k(G)=L(L^{k-1}(G))$. We consider fifteen graph parameters and study their behaviour when the operation of taking the line-graph is iterated. We shall first show that all of these parameters are unbounded. This idea is motivated by a well-known result of van Rooij and Wilf that says that the number of vertices is unbounded if and only if the graph is prolific. We then study of the value of $k(P,{\mathcal F})$, which is the index of a family of prolific graphs with regards to a given graph parameter $P(G)$. For a given parameter $P(G)$, the index of $G$ is denoted by $ind(P,G) = \min \{ r : P(G) < P(L^r(G) \}$. Now for a family $\mathcal F$ of prolific graphs, the index of the family is $k(P,\mathcal{F}) = \max \{ ind(P,G) : G \in \mathcal F\}$. The problem of determining the index of a parameter over the family of prolific graphs is motivated by a result of Chartrand who showed that it could require $k=|V(G)|-3$ iterations for $L^k(G)$ to have a hamiltonian cycle. For twelve of the parameters considered, we exactly determine $k(P,\mathcal F)$ where $\mathcal F$ is the family of all prolific graphs, and for some parameters we also characterize the class of prolific graphs realizing the extremal value $k(P,\mathcal F$). Interesting open problems remain, in particular completing the determination of $k(P,\mathcal F)$ for the three parameters: the independence number, independent domination number and domination number.

Let $\mathbb{P}_G([0,\infty))$ and $\mathbb{P}_G^{'}([0,\infty))$ be the sets of positive semidefinite and positive definite matrices of order $n$, respectively, with nonnegative entries, where some positions of zero entries are restricted by a simple graph $G$ with $n$ vertices. It is proved that for a connected simple graph $G$ of order $n\geq 3$, the set of powers preserving positive semidefiniteness on $\mathbb{P}_G([0,\infty))$ is precisely the same as the set of powers preserving positive definiteness on $\mathbb{P}_G^{'}([0,\infty))$. In particular, this provides an explicit combinatorial description of the critical exponent for positive definiteness, for all chordal graphs.
Using chain sequences, it is proved that the Hadamard powers preserving the positive (semi) definiteness of every tridiagonal matrix with nonnegative entries are precisely $r\geq 1$. The infinite divisibility of tridiagonal matrices is studied. The same results are proved for a special family of pentadiagonal matrices.

Denote by $m(ρ_i)$ the multiplicity of the normalized Laplacian eigenvalue $ρ_i$. Let $ν(G)$ be the independence number of $G$. In this paper, we give a full characterization of graphs with some normalized Laplacian eigenvalue of multiplicity $n-3$, which answers a remaining problem in [S. Sun, K.C. Das, On the multiplicities of normalized Laplacian eigenvalues of graphs, Linear Algebra Appl. 609 (2021) 365-385], $i.e.,$ there is no graph with $m(ρ_1)=n-3$ ($n\geq 6$) and $ν(G)=2$. Moreover, we confirm that all the graphs with $m(ρ_1)=n-3$ are determined by their normalized Laplacian spectra.
