The Minkowski grid has robustly many repeated distances
We show that there exists a constant $δ> 0$ such that for any positive integer $n$ there exists a set of $n$ points $P \subset \mathbb{R}^2$ with the following property: for every subset $A \subseteq P$ of size $|A| \geq 2$, \[ \max_{λ>0} \#\{(a,b)\in A \times A: a\ne b,\ \lvert a-b\rvert=λ\} \gtrsim \frac{|A|^2}{n^{1-δ}}.\] Our result is a vertical amplification of a robust Ramanujan estimate recently established by Croot-Mao-Pohoata-Sheffer-Yip for arbitrary subsets of the ordinary square grid, and is inspired by recent constructions for the Erdős unit distance problem and the Elekes-Rónyai problem. Taking $A=P$, the inequality above gives a distance occurring $n^{1+δ}$ times in $P$; thereby a scaled copy of $P$ is a counterexample for the unit-distance conjecture. In addition, the same inequality shows that (1) all subsets of $P$ of size $\gtrsim n^{1-δ}$ must contain isosceles triangles, and (2) all subsets of $P$ of size $\gtrsim n^{1/2-δ}$ must contain repeated distances. These features give polynomially improved estimates for old problems of Erdős. The existence of a set satisfying property (1) confirms a conjecture of Erdős from 1980, whereas the existence of a set with property (2) answers a question of Conlon-Fox-Gasarch-Harris-Ulrich-Zbarsky in the negative.

Strong Subgraph-Count Stability in $C_{2\ell+1}$-Free Graphs
Starting from the stability theorem of Erdős and Simonovits, stability problems for graphs forbidding a fixed subgraph have been studied in terms of edge numbers, spectral radii and subgraph counts. Let $\mathcal{N}(F,G)$ denote the number of unlabeled copies of $F$ in $G$. It is known that, for every fixed path $P_t$ and even cycle $C_{2a}$, the maximum number of copies in an $n$-vertex $C_{2\ell+1}$-free graph is attained by the bipartite Turán graph $T_{n,2}$. In this paper we obtain strong structural stability for $C_{2\ell+1}$-free graphs in terms of copies of paths and even cycles. For fixed $\ell\ge2$ and $3\le r\le2\ell-1$, we show that if an $n$-vertex $C_{2\ell+1}$-free graph contains at least as many copies of $P_t$ or $C_{2a}$ as the corresponding suspended extremal construction, then it has the corresponding suspension structure. This gives exact high-chromatic extremal theorems for paths and even cycles. We also prove a counting theorem for nearly complete bipartite graphs. It shows that, for every fixed matching-admissible connected bipartite graph $F$, both imbalance between the two parts and missing cross-edges decrease the number of copies of $F$ by a term with a specified main coefficient. This theorem is independent of the forbidden odd cycle and converts subgraph-count assumptions into the edge bounds needed for the structural theorem.

Paths of even length with equal-degree endpoints
Addressing a question posed by Erdős and Hajnal, Chen and Ma proved that, for all $n \ge 600$, the complete bipartite graph $K_{n,n+1}$ is the unique graph on $2n+1$ vertices with at least $n^2+n$ edges that contains no two vertices of equal degree joined by a path of length three. In this paper, we extend this result and prove that for every fixed integer \(\ell\ge 2\) and sufficiently large \(n\), the unique \(2n\)-vertex graph with at least \((n^2+n)/2\) edges that contains no two vertices of equal degree joined by a path of length \(2\ell\) is the half graph \(H_n\). This resolves the problem posed by Chen and Ma, as well as a related question of Attwa, Azócar Carvajal, Boyadzhiyska, Pierron, and Taraz concerning paths of even length with equal-degree endpoints.
Eternal domination in Cayley graphs
Eternal domination is a process in which a set of guards occupying a dominating set on a graph protects against an infinite sequence of attacks. After a vertex is attacked, one guard must move along an edge to the attacked vertex and each of the remaining guards may move along an edge so that the guards again occupy a dominating set on the graph and can defend the next attack. The minimum number of guards needed in a graph $Γ$ is the eternal domination number, denoted by $γ_{\mathrm{all}}^\infty(Γ)$. In this paper, we show that the eternal domination number of a vertex-transitive graph with an efficient dominating set is equal to its domination number. We show that a Cayley graph on a generalized dihedral group whose connection set contains few or many reflections is efficiently dominated. Then, we provide an infinite family of connected Cayley graphs for which $γ_{\mathrm{all}}^{\infty}(Γ) = γ(Γ)+1$, generalizing a result of [Braga et al., J. Combin. Math. Combin. Comput. 96 (2016), 13--22]. Finally, we build an infinite family of connected Cayley graphs with $γ_{\mathrm{all}}^\infty(Γ) \geq γ(Γ)+2$.
A note on long nontrivial cycle in Hamiltonian graphs
Let $G$ be an $n$-vertex graph containing a Hamiltonian cycle and with minimum degree at least $3$. Girão, Kittipassorn and Narayanan (Israel J. Math., 2019) proved that $G$ contains another cycle of length at least $n-O(n^{4/5})$. In this paper, we improve their bound to $n-O(n^{2/3})$. Our proof is combined with a constructive method, which is based on a poset result, and a nonconstructive method. And the bound is best possible under these two methods.

The universal zero-sum invariant and weighted zero-sum for infinite abelian groups II
Let $G$ be an abelian group, and let $\mathcal F (G)$ be the free commutative monoid with basis $G$, and $\mathcal A (G)$ the set consisting of all minimal zero-sum subsequences over $G$. For any subset $Ω\subset \mathcal F (G)$, we define the universal zero-sum invariant ${\mathsf d}_Ω(G)$ as the minimal positive integer $\ell$ such that every sequence $T$ over $G$ of length $\ell$ contains a subsequence lying in $Ω$. The classical Davenport constant ${\rm D}(G)$ for $G$ can also be written as ${\mathsf d}_{\mathcal A (G)}(G)$. We give a complete classification of all finite abelian groups for which $\mathcal A(G)$ is a minimal set to represent the Davenport constant. We also investigate the weighted Davenport constant over abelian groups (which may be infinite). Let $F$ and $G$ be abelian groups, and let $Ψ\subseteq \mathrm{Hom}(F,G)$ denote a weight set. We reinterpret the weighted Davenport constant $D_Ψ(G)$ in terms of coverings of Cartesian powers $F^n$ by kernels of induced homomorphisms arising from tuples in $Ψ^n$; these homomorphisms are naturally linked to coproducts in the category of abelian groups. This motivates the notion of kernel-cover compactness, a property characterizing when such kernel coverings admit finite subcovers. We establish a correspondence between weighted zero-sum invariants and kernel-cover structures, where the bound $D_Ψ(G)\le n$ is equivalent to a canonical kernel-cover property on $F^n$. We further study finite reduction phenomena for infinite weight sets and provide sufficient conditions ensuring uniform kernel-cover compactness. The present work constitutes a follow-up to [G. Wang, Comm. Algebra, 2025].

Towards the Overfull Conjecture II
Let $G$ be a simple graph with maximum degree $Δ(G)$. A subgraph $H\subseteq G$ is $Δ(G)$-overfull if $|E(H)|>Δ(G)\left\lfloor |V(H)|/2\right\rfloor$. In any edge coloring of $G$, each color class restricted to $H$ is a matching of size at most $\left\lfloor |V(H)|/2\right\rfloor$. Thus, if $G$ contains a $Δ(G)$-overfull subgraph, then $G$ cannot be edge-colored with only $Δ(G)$ colors. By Vizing's Theorem, $χ'(G)\le Δ(G)+1$, and hence $G$ is class $2$. In 1986, Chetwynd and Hilton conjectured that whenever $Δ(G)>|V(G)|/3$, the converse also holds: every class $2$ graph $G$ contains a $Δ(G)$-overfull subgraph. This statement, commonly known as the Overfull Conjecture, is one of the most influential conjectures in graph edge coloring. It would imply a polynomial-time algorithm for determining the chromatic index of graphs $G$ with $Δ(G)>|V(G)|/3$, and would also imply several other longstanding conjectures in the area, including the Just-overfull Conjecture and the Vertex-splitting Conjecture. In previous work, the third author verified the conjecture for large graphs $G$ with maximum degree at least $13|V(G)|/14$. In this paper, we confirm the conjecture for robust expanders satisfying certain density constraints. As a consequence, for every $0<\varepsilon<1$, the conjecture holds for all sufficiently large graphs $G$ with maximum degree at least $(1+\varepsilon)|V(G)|/2$.
Robustness and hyperstability for the Erdős-Gallai theorem
The Erdős-Gallai theorem states that every graph of average degree $d$ contains a cycle of length at least $d$. We prove the following robust extension of the Erdős-Gallai theorem: For every $c>0$ there exists $K$ such that for all $d\geq K$, $p\geq K/d$ and every graph $G$ with average degree $d$, the random graph $G_p$ obtained by independently percolating each edge of $G$ with probability $p$ contains a cycle of length $(1-c)d$ asymptotically almost surely as $|V(G)|\to \infty$. With related methods, we prove the following hyperstability version of the Erdős-Gallai theorem: any graph $G$ without a cycle of length at least $d$ is at most $c dn$ edge deletions away from a graph all of whose connected components have a vertex-cover of size $(1+c)d$. At the core of our argument lies a very general structure theorem about graphs that originates from results of Pokrovskiy concerning the hyperstability of bounded-degree trees.

Peres--Schlag's nonempty-interior problem and a shifted-product variant for product sets
We study finite-field analogues of the Peres--Schlag nonempty-interior problem for product sets. Given \(A\subseteq\mathbb F_p\), we ask when a suitable one-dimensional linear image of \(A^n\) is full; equivalently, when there exist coefficients \(t_1,\ldots,t_n\in\mathbb F_p\) such that \[ t_1A+\cdots+t_nA=\mathbb F_p. \] For \(n\ge3\), we prove that, for every \(η>0\), this holds whenever \[ |A|\gg_{n,η} p^{\frac{3}{2n-1}+η}. \] This improves the exponent predicted by the direct product-set analogue of the Peres--Schlag threshold, namely \(|A|\gg p^{2/n}\). We also prove a two-dimensional near-half-density result. Motivated by sum-product phenomena, we also introduce and study a product-type variant in which linear forms are replaced by shifted product maps. We prove finite-field covering results for shifted products \[ (t_1 + A)(t_2 + A)\cdots(t_n + A) \] at the same density scale as in the linear case. Finally, we prove a Euclidean shifted-product analogue: if \(A\subseteq\mathbb R\) is Borel and \(\dim_H A>2/n\), then some shifted product of \(n\) copies of \(A\) contains a nonempty open interval.

Multiplicity for partially ordered sets
Let $\mathcal Q=\{Q_a:a\geq1\}$ be a nested family of finite posets such that $Q_a\subseteq Q_{a+1}$ and $|Q_a|<|Q_{a+1}|$. For a poset $Q$, let $\mathcal C_t(Q)$ denote the set of all strict $t$-chains in $Q$. Given an $r$-coloring of $\mathcal C_t(Q_a)$ and posets $P_1,\ldots,P_r$, a weak copy of $P_i$ is called monochromatic of color $i$ if all $t$-chains in the copy have color $i$; the strong version is defined in the same way for induced copies. The corresponding weak and strong multiplicity parameters are the minimum possible total number of such monochromatic copies in the host poset. For the Boolean lattice $B_n$, define $E_n={(S,T,U)\in B_n^3:S\subsetneq T\subsetneq U,\ |S|+|T|=|U|}.$ For a two-coloring $χ:B_n\to{0,1}$, a triple $(S,T,U)\in E_n$ is monochromatic if $χ(S)=χ(T)=χ(U)$. Let $R^{\mathrm{arith}}_2$ be the least integer $n$ such that every two-coloring of $B_n$ contains a monochromatic triple in $E_n$, and let $M^{\mathrm{arith}}_2(B_n)$ be the minimum number of monochromatic triples in $E_n$ over all two-colorings of $B_n$. We prove that $R^{\mathrm{arith}}_2=9.$ Moreover, $|E_n|=\binom{2n}{n}-[x^n](1+x+x^2)^n-2^n+1=\frac{4^n}{\sqrt{πn}}\bigl(1+o(1)\bigr),$ and $2^{δn+o(n)}\le M^{\mathrm{arith}}_2(B_n)\le 2^{γn+o(n)}, $ where $δ\approx 1.356779$ and $γ\approx 1.567837$ are explicit entropy constants. For general nested host families, we prove a double-counting lower bound for strong poset multiplicity. For an arbitrary finite host poset $R$, we also introduce a Fourier-Möbius method and give an exact Fourier expansion for strong multiplicity, a Parseval-type error bound, and a spectral lower bound.
Characterization and linear-time recognition of balanced distance-hereditary graphs
A graph is balanced if its clique-matrix contains no square submatrix of odd order with exactly two $1$'s in each row and in each column. Although it is known that a graph is balanced if and only if it contains no induced extended odd sun, a characterization of balanced graphs by minimal forbidden induced subgraphs is still unknown. In this work, we prove that, within the class of distance-hereditary graphs, balanced graphs are exactly the hereditary clique-Helly graphs. Equivalently, they are characterized by a single forbidden induced subgraph, namely $\overline{3K_2}$. From this result, we derive an explicit linear-time algorithm that decides balancedness within the class of distance-hereditary graphs and returns an induced $\overline{3K_2}$ when the input graph is not balanced.

Generalized Erdős--Rogers problems for $r$-uniform hypergraphs
Let \(F\) and \(G\) be \(r\)-uniform hypergraphs, and let \(f_{F,G}(n)\) be the largest integer \(m\) such that every \(n\)-vertex \(G\)-free \(r\)-graph contains an induced \(F\)-free subgraph on \(m\) vertices. We prove that, if \(r\ge3\), \(F\) is nonempty, \(G\) is \(2\)-tightly connected, and there is no homomorphism from \(G\) to \(F\), then \[ f_{F,G}(n)\le C(\log n)^{β_F}, \qquad β_F= \max_{\substack{\emptyset\ne P\subseteq\partial_2F}} \frac{e(P)}{v(P)-1}. \] For \(r=3\), this confirms a conjecture of He and Nie for tightly connected \(3\)-graphs, sharpening their earlier bound by replacing the exponent $ \max_{\substack{\emptyset\ne P\subseteq\partial_2F}} \frac{e(P)+1}{v(P)-1} $ with \(β_F\). When \(F=K_r^r\), our result recovers the Ramsey lower bound $r(G,K_n^r)\ge 2^{Ω(n^{2/r})}$ whenever \(G\) is \(2\)-tightly connected and non-\(r\)-partite.

On the completion of $ε$-dense partial Latin squares
A partial Latin square of order $n$ is called $ε$-dense if each row and each column contains at most $εn$ filled cells, and each symbol occurs at most $εn$ times. A partial Latin square is said to be completable if its empty cells can be filled to obtain a Latin square. Daykin and Häggkvist conjectured that every $\frac{1}{4}$-dense partial Latin square is completable. In this paper, we show that for all sufficiently large integers $n$, every $\frac{2}{25}$-dense partial Latin square of order $n$ is completable. The proof is obtained by establishing that there exists an $η> 0$ such that every triangle-divisible balanced tripartite graph on $3n$ vertices with partite minimum degree at least $(\frac{23}{25}-η)n$ admits a fractional triangle decomposition.

Obstructions to Total Rainbow Forests in Edge-Colored Graphs
A total rainbow forest in an edge-colored graph is a forest that contains every edge color exactly once. Using a necessary and sufficient condition that a total rainbow forest exists, we demonstrate the existence of huge numbers of edge-colored graphs that are minimal obstructions to such existence.

On a problem of Sivaraman and a problem of Gyárfás
The \textit{girth} of a graph $G$, denoted $\mathrm{g}(G)$, is the length of a shortest cycle in $G$. If $G$ contains no cycle, we define $\mathrm{g}(G)=\infty$. Sivaraman (2020) asked for the optimal $χ$-bounding function for the class of graphs whose complements have girth at least $6$. Let \(F(s) = \max\{χ(G): ω(G)\le s,\ \mathrm{g}(\overline{G})\ge 6\}\). We prove that there exists a constant \(c>0\) such that \[ c\left(\frac{s}{\log s}\right)^{4/3} \le F(s) \le (1+o(1))\frac{s^{3/2}}{\log s}. \] For small values, we establish the exact results \[ F(1)=1,\; F(2)=2,\; F(3)=4,\; F(4)=5,\; F(5)=6,\; F(6)=8, \] and each bound is sharp. A graph $G$ is \emph{almost perfect} if every induced subgraph $H$ of $G$ satisfies \(α(H)ω(H)+1\ge |V(H)|\). Gyárfás (2023) asked whether almost perfect graphs are $χ$-bounded by the function $g(x)=x+1$. We answer this question in the negative by showing that there is no constant $c$ such that every almost perfect graph $G$ satisfies $χ(G)\le ω(G)+c$.

A Delsarte Linear Programming Approach to the Erdős--Falconer Distance Problem over Finite Fields
We introduce a Delsarte linear programming approach to the finite field Erdős--Falconer distance problem. Let \(q\) be an odd prime power, let \(n\) be even, and let \(Q\) be a non-degenerate quadratic form on \(\mathbb{F}_q^n\). For \(E\subset \mathbb{F}_q^n\), define \[ Δ_Q(E)=\{Q(x-y):\ x,y\in E\}. \] We prove that, for every fixed \(0<α<\frac{1}{2}\), there exist constants \(C_α>0\) and \(q_α\) such that if \(q\ge q_α\) and $|E|\ge C_αq^{\frac n2+\frac13},$ then \[ |Δ_Q(E)|>1+α(q-1). \] In particular, \(Δ_Q(E)\) contains a positive proportion of the elements of \(\mathbb{F}_q\), and hence \(|Δ_Q(E)|\gg q\). Our result applies uniformly to all non-degenerate quadratic forms in even-dimensional finite field vector spaces. In the Euclidean case \[ Q(x)=x_1^2+\cdots+x_n^2, \] it improves, for every even \(n\ge 4\) over arbitrary finite fields, the general exponent \(\frac{n+1}{2}\) obtained by Iosevich and Rudnev to $\frac n2+\frac13.$ The proof is based on the association scheme arising from the level sets of \(Q\). By analyzing the corresponding eigenvalues through Gauss sums and Kloosterman sums, we construct a suitable feasible solution to the Delsarte linear program. This provides a new algebraic-combinatorial method for obtaining distance set estimates over finite fields.

$L^p$-form of the KNRS conjecture
The Kohayakawa--Nagle--Rödl--Schacht conjecture predicts that locally dense graphs contain, asymptotically, at least as many homomorphic copies of any fixed graph as the random graph of the same edge density. We prove that every graph with at least one edge satisfies a natural $L^p$ relaxation of this conjecture in the graphon setting. More precisely, let $F$ be a graph with $m>0$ edges, and let $n$ be the number of non-isolated vertices of $F$. If $$ p\ge \binom {n}{2}/m, $$ then for every $ρ$-locally dense graphon $W$, $$ t(F,W^{\circ p})\ge ρ^{pm}. $$ Equivalently, if $$ W_F(\mathbf x)=\prod_{ij\in E(F)}W(x_i,x_j), $$ then $$ \|W_F\|_{L^p}\ge ρ^{e(F)}. $$ The proof is based on a Hölder uniformization over vertex relabellings, in the spirit of Conlon--Lee. We also prove a more general comparison principle with edge-transitive KNRS supergraphs, yielding sharper exponents whenever $F$ embeds into an edge-transitive KNRS graph. Finally, positive-semidefinite methods give theta-subdivision results: Sidorenko-good graphs are closed under arbitrary uniform theta-subdivisions; the non-uniform theta theorem of Im--Li--Liu admits a Sidorenko-good lift, under the same divisibility assumptions, after removing the parity restriction; and uniform theta-subdivisions of KNRS graphs are regular-KNRS.

The signless Laplacian spectral radius of graphs without disjoint cliques
A graph $G$ is $(t+1)K_{r+1}$-free if it contains no $t+1$ pairwise vertex-disjoint copies of $K_{r+1}$. Moon [Canad. J. Math. 20 (1968) 95-102] and Simonovits [Theory of Graphs (Proc. Colloq., Tihany, 1966)] independently determined that, for sufficiently large $n$, $K_{t}\vee T_{r}(n-t)$ is the unique $n$-vertex $(t+1)K_{r+1}$-free graph with the maximum number of edges. In 2023, Ni, Wang and Kang [Electron. J. Combin. 30 (2023) \#P1.20] showed that the graph $K_{t}\vee T_{r}(n-t)$ is also the unique adjacency spectral extremal graph over all $n$-vertex $(t+1)K_{r+1}$-free graphs for sufficiently large $n$. In this paper, for $r\geq 3$ and $t\geq 0$, we prove that $K_{t}\vee T_r(n-t)$ is the unique graph attaining the maximum signless Laplacian spectral radius among all $(t+1)K_{r+1}$-free graphs of sufficiently large order $n$.

A Generalisation of the Concentration-of-Measure Phenomenon with Applications to Intersection Problems
In this paper we prove a generalisation of the concentration-of-measure phenomenon in the discrete cube. In this setting, the concentration-of-measure phenomenon states that for every subset $\mathcal{A}$ of the discrete cube, its sum with a Hamming ball of suitably large radius $r$ -- or equivalently, its $r$-expansion -- results in a substantial increase in measure. We define a notion of `$(γ,C)$-well-spread' for subsets of the discrete cube $\{0,1\}^n$ for which the following holds: for all $ε$, there exist constants $γ$ and $C$ such that for every $\mathcal{A}$ with $|\mathcal{A}| \geq \epsilon2^n$ and every $(γ,C)$-well-spread $S$, $|\mathcal{A} + S|$ is at least $(1-ε)2^n$. We use this result to prove new non-trivial upper bounds to two intersection problems: how many subsets (or subgraphs) can one take from $[n]$ or $[\binom{n}{2}]$ such that every pair's intersection contains some given substructure? We prove non-trivial upper bounds for the $C_4$-intersection problem and the $4$-AP-intersection problem. We also give upper bounds that tend to $0$ for the $H$-intersection problem and $k$-AP-intersection problem as the number of edges and $k$ tend to infinity. Previously, non-trivial upper bounds were only known for non-bipartite $H$ and nothing was known for the $k$-AP-intersection problem.

Berge tight cycles of all lengths in hypergraphs
Given a set $R$ of positive integers, an $R$-graph $H = (V, E)$ is a hypergraph where the cardinality of each hyperedge belongs to $R$. If $R = \{r\}$, we sometimes refer to the hypergraph as an $r$-graph rather than an $R$-graph. For a set $S \subseteq V$, let $d_H(S)$ denote the number of hyperedges of $H$ containing $S$. Given a nonnegative integer $s$, the minimum $s$-degree $δ_s(H)$ is the minimum of $d_H(S)$ over all $s$-vertex subsets $S$ of $V$. Let $r$ and $t$ be positive integers with $r < t$. We denote by $C_t^r$ the $t$-vertex $r$-uniform tight cycle, which is an $r$-graph with at least three hyperedges whose vertices admit a cyclic ordering such that every $r$ consecutive vertices form a hyperedge. In particular, $C_t^2$ is the classical cycle $C_t$ in $2$-graphs. For hypergraphs $F$ and $H$, we say that $H$ is a Berge-$F$ if there exist an injection $f \colon V(F) \to V(H)$ and a bijection $g \colon E(F) \to E(H)$ such that $\{f(v): v \in e\} \subseteq g(e)$ for all $e \in E(F)$. Lu and Wang [Discrete Math. 344 (2021), 112462] proved that every $[3]$-graph $H$ on $n \geq 6$ vertices with $δ_2(H) \geq 1$ contains a Berge-$C_t$ for all $3 \leq t \leq n$. In this paper, we prove that for any positive integer $r$ and any set $R \subseteq [k]$ with $k \geq 2$, there exists an integer $n_0 = n_0(k,r)$ such that every $R$-graph $H$ on $n \geq n_0$ vertices with $δ_r(H) \geq 1$ contains a Berge-$C_t^r$ for all $r+1 \leq t \leq n$. In particular, when $k = 4$ and $r = 3$, we show that every $[4]$-graph $H$ on $n \geq 9$ vertices with $δ_3(H) \geq 1$ contains a Berge-$C_t^3$ for all $4 \leq t \leq n$. We also characterize all the counterexamples when $4 \leq n \leq 8$.
