Let $\mathcal{P}$ be a closed path having no zig-zag walks, a kind of non-simple thin polyomino. In this paper we give a combinatorial interpretation of the $h$-polynomial of $K[\mathcal{P}]$, showing that it is the rook polynomial of $\mathcal{P}$. It is known by Rinaldo and Romeo (2021), that if $\mathcal{P}$ is a simple thin polyomino then the $h$-polynomial is equal to the rook polynomial of $\mathcal{P}$ and it is conjectured that this property characterizes all thin polyominoes. Our main demonstrative strategy is to compute the reduced Hilbert-Poincaré series of the coordinate ring attached to a closed path $\mathcal{P}$ having no zig-zag walks, as a combination of the Hilbert-Poincaré series of convenient simple thin polyominoes. As a consequence we prove that the Krull dimension is equal to $\vert V(\mathcal{P})\vert -\mathrm{rank}\, \mathcal{P}$ and the regularity of $K[\mathcal{P}]$ is the rook number of $\mathcal{P}$. Finally we characterize the Gorenstein prime closed paths, proving that $K[\mathcal{P}]$ is Gorenstein if and only if $\mathcal{P}$ consists of maximal blocks of length three.

Let $R$ be the Ehrhart ring of the stable set polytope of a cycle graph which is not Gorenstein. We describe the non-Gorenstein locus of $\mathrm{Spec} R$. Further, we show that $R$ is almost Gorenstein. Moreover, we show that the conjecture of Hibi and Tsuchiya is true.

A $d$-dimensional lattice polytope $P$ is Gorenstein if it has a multiple $r P$ that is a reflexive polytope up to translation by a lattice vector. The difference $d+1-r$ is called the degree of $P$. We show that a Gorenstein polytope is a lattice pyramid if its dimension is at least three times its degree. This was previously conjectured by Batyrev and Juny. We also present a refined conjecture and prove it for IDP Gorenstein polytopes.
Triangulations of Flow Polytopes, Ample Framings, and Gentle Algebras

The cone of nonnegative flows for a directed acyclic graph (DAG) is known to admit regular unimodular triangulations induced by framings of the DAG. These triangulations restrict to triangulations of the flow polytope for strength one flows, which are called DKK triangulations. For a special class of framings called ample framings, these triangulations of the flow cone project to a complete fan. We characterize the DAGs that admit ample framings, and we enumerate the number of ample framings for a fixed DAG. We establish a connection between maximal simplices in DKK triangulations and $τ$-tilting posets for certain gentle algebras, which allows us to impose a poset structure on the dual graph of any DKK triangulation for an amply framed DAG. Using this connection, we are able to prove that for full DAGs, i.e., those DAGs with inner vertices having in-degree and out-degree equal to two, the flow polytopes are Gorenstein and have unimodal Ehrhart $h^\ast$-polynomials.

We discuss two known sheaf-cosheaf duality theorems: Curry's for the face posets of finite regular CW complexes and Lurie's for compact Hausdorff spaces, i.e., covariant Verdier duality. We provide a uniform formulation for them and prove their generalizations. Our version of the former works over the sphere spectrum and for more general finite posets, which we characterize in terms of the Gorenstein* condition. Our version of the latter says that the stabilization of a proper separated $\infty$-topos is rigid in the sense of Gaitsgory. As an application, for stratified topological spaces, we clarify the relation between these two duality equivalences.
Gorenstein on the punctured spectrum and nearly Gorenstein property of the Ehrhart ring of the stable set polytope of an h-perfect graph
In this paper, we give a criterion of the nearly Gorenstein property of the Ehrhart ring of the stable set polytope of an h-perfect graph: the Ehrhart ring of the stable set polytope of an h-perfect graph $G$ with connected components $G^{(1)}, \ldots, G^{(\ell)}$ is nearly Gorenstein if and only if (1) for each $i$, the Ehrhart ring of the stable set polytope of $G^{(i)}$ is Gorenstein and (2) $|ω(G^{(i)})-ω(G^{(j)})|\leq 1$ for any $i$ and $j$, where $ω(G^{(i)})$ is the clique number of $G^{(i)}$.
We also show that the Segre product of Cohen-Macaulay graded rings with linear non-zerodivisor which are Gorenstein on the punctured spectrum is also Gorenstein on the punctured spectrum if all but one rings are standard graded.
Gorenstein braid cones and crepant resolutions

To any poset $P$, we associate a convex cone called a braid cone. We also associate a fan and study the toric varieties the cone and fan define. The fan always defines a smooth toric variety $X_P$, while the toric variety $U_P$ of the cone may be singular. We show that $X_{P} \dashrightarrow U_{P}$ is a crepant resolution of singularities if and only if $P$ is bounded. Next, we aim to determine when $U_P$ is Gorenstein or $\mathbb{Q}$-Gorenstein. We prove that whether or not $U_P$ is ($\mathbb{Q}$)-Gorenstein depends only on the biconnected components of the Hasse diagram of $P$. In the case that $P$ has a minimum or maximum element, we show that the Gorenstein property of $U_P$ is completely determined by the Möbius function of $P$. We also provide a recursive method that determines if $U_P$ is ($\mathbb{Q}$)-Gorenstein in this case. We conjecture that $U_P$ is Gorenstein if and only if it is $\mathbb{Q}$-Gorenstein. We verify this conjecture for posets of length $1$ and also for posets with a minimum or maximum element.

Let $Δ$ be an (abstract) simplicial complex on $n$ vertices. One can define the Artinian monomial algebra $A(Δ) = \Bbbk[x_1, \ldots, x_n]/ \langle x_1^2, \ldots, x_n^2, I_Δ \rangle$, where $\Bbbk$ is a field of characteristic $0$ and $I_Δ$ is the Stanley-Reisner ideal associated to $Δ$. In this paper, we aim to characterize the Weak Lefschetz Property (WLP) of $A(Δ)$ in terms of the simplicial complex $Δ$. We are able to completely analyze when WLP holds in degree $1$, complementing work by Migliore, Nagel and Schenck in [MNS2020]. We give a complete characterization of all $2$-dimensional pseudomanifolds $Δ$ such that $A(Δ)$ satisfies WLP. We also construct Artinian Gorenstein algebras that fail WLP by combining our results and the standard technique of Nagata idealization.

We give explicit descriptions of rings of differential operators of toric face rings in characteristic $0$. For quotients of normal affine semigroup rings by radical monomial ideals, we also identify which of their differential operators are induced by differential operators on the ambient ring. Lastly, we provide a criterion for the Gorenstein property of a normal affine semigroup ring in terms of its differential operators.
Our main technique is to realize the k-algebras we study in terms of a suitable family of their algebra retracts in a way that is compatible with the characterization of differential operators. This strategy allows us to describe differential operators of any k-algebra realized by retracts in terms of the differential operators on these retracts, without restriction on char(k).

We study the deformation theory of the Stanley-Reisner rings associated to cluster complexes for skew-symmetrizable cluster algebras of geometric and finite cluster type. In particular, we show that in the skew-symmetric case, these cluster complexes are unobstructed, generalizing a result of Ilten and Christophersen in the $A_n$ case.
We also study the connection between cluster algebras with universal coefficients and cluster complexes. We show that for a full rank positively graded cluster algebra $\mathcal{A}$ of geometric and finite cluster type, the cluster algebra $\mathcal{A}^{\mathrm{univ}}$ with universal coefficients may be recovered as the universal family over a partial closure of a torus orbit in a multigraded Hilbert scheme. Likewise, we show that under suitable hypotheses, the cluster algebra $\mathcal{A}^{\mathrm{univ}}$ may be recovered as the coordinate ring for a certain torus-invariant semiuniversal deformation of the Stanley-Reisner ring of the cluster complex.
We apply these results to show that for any cluster algebra $\mathcal{A}$ of geometric and finite cluster type, $\mathcal{A}$ is Gorenstein, and $\mathcal{A}$ is unobstructed if it is skew-symmetric. Moreover, if $\mathcal{A}$ has enough frozen variables then it has no non-trivial torus-invariant deformations. We also study the Gröbner theory of the ideal of relations among cluster and frozen variables of $\mathcal{A}$. As a byproduct we generalize previous results in this setting obtained by Bossinger, Mohammadi and Nájera Chávez for Grassmannians of planes and $\text{Gr}(3,6)$.

Chow rings of matroids were instrumental in the resolution of the Heron-Rota-Welsh Conjecture by Adiprasito, Huh, and Katz and in the resolution of the Top-Heavy Conjecture by Braden, Huh, Matherne, Proudfoot, and Wang. The Chow ring of a matroid is a commutative, graded, Artinian, Gorenstein algebra with linear and quadratic relations defined by the matroid. Dotsenko conjectured that the Chow ring of any matroid is Koszul. The purpose of this paper is to prove Dotsenko's conjecture. We also show that the augmented Chow ring of a matroid is Koszul. As a corollary, we show that the Chow rings and augmented Chow rings of matroids have rational Poincaré series.

The Ehrhart quasipolynomial of a rational polytope $\mathsf{P}$ encodes fundamental arithmetic data of $\mathsf{P}$, namely, the number of integer lattice points in positive integral dilates of $\mathsf{P}$. Ehrhart quasipolynomials were introduced in the 1960s, satisfy several fundamental structural results and have applications in many areas of mathematics and beyond. The enumerative theory of lattice points in rational (equivalently, real) dilates of rational polytopes is much younger, starting with work by Linke (2011), Baldoni-Berline-Koeppe-Vergne (2013), and Stapledon (2017). We introduce a generating-function ansatz for rational Ehrhart quasipolynomials, which unifies several known results in classical and rational Ehrhart theory. In particular, we define $γ$-rational Gorenstein polytopes, which extend the classical notion to the rational setting and encompass the generalized reflexive polytopes studied by Fiset-Kasprzyk (2008) and Kasprzyk-Nill (2012).

Let $G=(V,E)$ be a connected simple graph, with $n$ vertices such that $S$ is its homogeneous monomial subring. We prove that if $S$ is normal and Gorenstein, then $G$ is unmixed with cover number $\lceil\frac{n}{2}\rceil$ and $G$ has a strong $\lceil\frac{n}{2}\rceil$-$τ$-reduction. Furthermore, if $n$ is even, then we show that $G$ is bipartite. Finally, if $S$ is normal and $G$ is unmixed whose cover number is $\lceil\frac{n}{2}\rceil$, we give sufficient conditions for $S$ to be Gorenstein.

The non-Gorenstein locus of stable set rings of finite simple perfect graphs is studied. We describe combinatorially those perfect graphs whose stable set rings are Gorenstein on the punctured spectrum. In addition, we show that, in general, for Cohen--Macaulay graded algebras, their Cohen--Macaulay type and residue are largely independent.

Let $H$ be a simple undirected graph. The family of all matchings of $H$ forms a simplicial complex called the matching complex of $H$. Here , we give a classification of all graphs with a Gorenstein matching complex. Also we study when the matching complex of $H$ is Cohen-Macaulay and, in certain classes of graphs, we fully characterize those graphs which have a Cohen-Macaulay matching complex. In particular, we characterize when the matching complex of a graph with girth at least 5 or a complete graph is Cohen-Macaulay.

We associate with every pure flag simplicial complex $Δ$ a standard graded Gorenstein $\mathbb{F}$-algebra $R_Δ$ whose homological features are largely dictated by the combinatorics and topology of $Δ$. As our main result, we prove that the residue field $\mathbb{F}$ has a $k$-step linear $R_Δ$-resolution if and only if $Δ$ satisfies Serre's condition $(S_k)$ over $\mathbb{F}$, and that $R_Δ$ is Koszul if and only if $Δ$ is Cohen-Macaulay over $\mathbb{F}$. Moreover, we show that $R_Δ$ has a quadratic Gröbner basis if and only if $Δ$ is shellable. We give two applications: first, we construct quadratic Gorenstein $\mathbb{F}$-algebras which are Koszul if and only if the characteristic of $\mathbb{F}$ is not in any prescribed set of primes. Finally, we prove that whenever $R_Δ$ is Koszul the coefficients of its $γ$-vector alternate in sign, settling in the negative an algebraic generalization of a conjecture by Charney and Davis.

A directed edge polytope $\mathcal{A}_G$ is a lattice polytope arising from root system $A_n$ and a finite directed graph $G$. If every directed edge of $G$ belongs to a directed cycle in $G$, then $\mathcal{A}_G$ is terminal and reflexive, that is, one can associate this polytope to a Gorenstein toric Fano variety $X_G$ with terminal singularities. It is shown by Totaro that a toric Fano variety which is smooth in codimension $2$ and $\mathbb{Q}$-factorial in codimension $3$ is rigid. In the present paper, we classify all directed graphs $G$ such that $X_G$ is a toric Fano variety which is smooth in codimension $2$ and $\mathbb{Q}$-factorial in codimension $3$.

Levelness and almost Gorensteinness are well-studied properties on graded rings as a generalized notion of Gorensteinness. In the present paper, we study those properties for the edge rings of the complete multipartite graphs, denoted by $\Bbbk[K_{r_1,\ldots,r_n}]$ with $1 \leq r_1 \leq \cdots \leq r_n$. We give the complete characterization of which $\Bbbk[K_{r_1,\ldots,r_n}]$ is level in terms of $n$ and $r_1,\ldots,r_n$. Similarly, we also give the complete characterization of which $\Bbbk[K_{r_1,\ldots,r_n}]$ is almost Gorenstein in terms of $n$ and $r_1,\ldots,r_n$.
