We explicitly realize an internal action of the symplectic cactus group, recently defined by Halacheva for any complex, reductive, finite-dimensional Lie algebra, on crystals of Kashiwara-Nakashima tableaux. Our methods include a symplectic version of jeu de taquin due to Sheats and Lecouvey, symplectic reversal, and virtualization due to Baker. As an application, we define and study a symplectic version of the Berenstein-Kirillov group and show that it is a quotient of the symplectic cactus group. In addition two relations for symplectic Berenstein-Kirillov group are given that do not follow from the defining relations of the symplectic cactus group.

In 1987 Brehm and Kühnel showed that any combinatorial $d$-manifold with less than $3d/2+3$ vertices is PL homeomorphic to the sphere and any combinatorial $d$-manifold with exactly $3d/2+3$ vertices is PL homeomorphic to either the sphere or a manifold like a projective plane in the sense of Eells and Kuiper. The latter possibility may occur for $d\in\{2,4,8,16\}$ only. There exist a unique $6$-vertex triangulation of $\mathbb{RP}^2$, a unique $9$-vertex triangulation of $\mathbb{CP}^2$, and at least three $15$-vertex triangulations of $\mathbb{HP}^2$. However, until now, the question of whether there exists a $27$-vertex triangulation of a manifold like the octonionic projective plane has remained open. We solve this problem by constructing a lot of examples of such triangulations. Namely, we construct $634$ vertex-transitive $27$-vertex combinatorial $16$-manifolds like the octonionic projective plane. Four of them have symmetry group $\mathrm{C}_3^3\rtimes \mathrm{C}_{13}$ of order $351$, and the other $630$ have symmetry group $\mathrm{C}_3^3$ of order $27$. Further, we construct more than $10^{103}$ non-vertex-transitive $27$-vertex combinatorial $16$-manifolds like the octonionic projective plane. Most of them have trivial symmetry group, but there are also symmetry groups $\mathrm{C}_3$, $\mathrm{C}_3^2$, and $\mathrm{C}_{13}$. We conjecture that all the triangulations constructed are PL homeomorphic to the octonionic projective plane $\mathbb{OP}^2$. Nevertheless, we have no proof of this fact so far.
Fractons on Graphs and Complexity

We introduce two exotic lattice models on a general spatial graph. The first one is a matter theory of a compact Lifshitz scalar field, while the second one is a certain rank-2 $U(1)$ gauge theory of fractons. Both lattice models are defined via the discrete Laplacian operator on a general graph. We unveil an intriguing correspondence between the physical observables of these lattice models and graph theory quantities. For instance, the ground state degeneracy of the matter theory equals the number of spanning trees of the spatial graph, which is a common measure of complexity in graph theory ("GSD = complexity"). The discrete global symmetry is identified as the Jacobian group of the graph. In the gauge theory, superselection sectors of fractons are in one-to-one correspondence with the divisor classes in graph theory. In particular, under mild assumptions on the spatial graph, the fracton immobility is proven using a graph-theoretic Abel-Jacobi map.

The addition formulae for KP $τ$-functions, when evaluated at lattice points in the KP flow group orbits in the infinite dimensional Sato-Segal-Wilson Grassmannian, give infinite parametric families of solutions to discretizations of the KP hierarchy. The CKP hierarchy may similarly be viewed as commuting flows on the Lagrangian sub-Grassmannian of maximal isotropic subspaces with respect to a suitably defined symplectic form. Evaluating the $τ$-functions at a sublattice of points within the KP orbit, the resulting discretization gives solutions both to the hyperdeterminantal relations (or Kashaev recurrence) and the hexahedron (or Kenyon-Pemantle) recurrence.

For a simply connected connected simple algebraic group $G$, it is known that a variety $B_{w_0}^-:=B^-\cap U\overline{w_0}U$ has a geometric crystal structure with a positive structure $θ^-_{\mathbf{i}}:(\mathbb{C}^{\times})^{l(w_0)}\rightarrow B_{w_0}^-$ for each reduced word $\mathbf{i}$ of the longest element $w_0$ of Weyl group. A rational function $Φ^h_{BK}=\sum_{i\in I}Δ_{w_0Λ_i,s_iΛ_i}$ on $B_{w_0}^-$ is called a half-potential, where $Δ_{w_0Λ_i,s_iΛ_i}$ is a generalized minor. Computing $Φ^h_{BK}\circ θ^-_{\mathbf{i}}$ explicitly, we get an explicit form of string cone or polyhedral realization of $B(\infty)$ for the finite dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}={\rm Lie}(G)$.
In this paper, for an arbitrary reduced word $\mathbf{i}$, we give an algorithm to compute the summand $Δ_{w_0Λ_i,s_iΛ_i}\circ θ^-_{\mathbf{i}}$ of $Φ^h_{BK}\circ θ^-_{\mathbf{i}}$ in the case $i\in I$ satisfies that for any weight $μ$ of $V(-w_0Λ_i)$ and $t\in I$, it holds $\langle h_t,μ\rangle\in\{2,1,0,-1,-2\}$. In particular, if $\mathfrak{g}$ is of type ${\rm A}_n$, ${\rm B}_n$, ${\rm C}_n$ or ${\rm D}_n$ then all $i\in I$ satisfy this condition so that one can completely calculate $Φ^h_{BK}\circ θ^-_{\mathbf{i}}$. We will also prove that our algorithm works in the case $\mathfrak{g}$ is of type ${\rm G}_2$.

A deck of $n$ cards are shuffled by repeatedly taking off the top card, flipping it with probability $1/2$, and inserting it back into the deck at a random position. This process can be considered as a Markov chain on the group $B_n$ of signed permutations. We show that the eigenvalues of the transition probability matrix are $0,1/n,2/n,\ldots,(n-1)/n,1$ and the multiplicity of the eigenvalue $i/n$ is equal to the number of the {\em signed} permutation having exactly $i$ fixed points. We show the similar results also for the colored permutations. Further, we show that the mixing time of this Markov chain is $n\log n$, same as the ordinary 'top-to-random' shuffles without flipping the cards. The cut-off is also analyzed by using the asymptotic behavior of the Stirling numbers of the second kind.
Stochastic Couplings and Bijections from the Symmetric Group to Itself
Inspired by the Stochastic processes described by the Feller Coupling and Chinese Restaurant Processes, we create four different bijections from words in the set $[1]\times [2] \times\cdot \times[n]$ to $S_n$. We then compose these maps with their inverse to obtain a toal of six bijections $S_n \to S_n$. Following that, we investigate the fixed points ($1$-cycle) and higher $k$-cycles of these maps. We characterized some of their properties completely as well as empirically showing the complexity of the higher $k$-cycle structures for these maps.

A generalization of highly symmetric frames is presented by considering also projective stabilizers of frame vectors. This allows construction of highly symmetric line systems and study of highly symmetric frames in a more unified manner. Construction of highly symmetric line systems involves computation of twisted spherical functions associated with finite groups. Further generalizations include definition of highly symmetric systems of subspaces. We give several examples which illustrate our approach including 3 new kissing configurations which improve lower bounds on the kissing number in $d=10,11,14$ to 510, 592 and 1932 respectively.

A graph or hypergraph is said to be vertex-transitive if its automorphism group acts transitively upon its vertices. A classic theorem of Mader asserts that every connected vertex-transitive graph is maximally edge-connected. We generalise this result to hypergraphs and show that every connected linear uniform vertex-transitive hypergraph is maximally edge-connected. We also show that if we relax either the linear or uniform conditions in this generalisation, then we can construct examples of vertex-transitive hypergraphs which are not maximally edge-connected.

A subset $\mathcal{F}$ of a finite transitive group $G\leq \operatorname{Sym}(Ω)$ is \emph{intersecting} if any two elements of $\mathcal{F}$ agree on an element of $Ω$. The \emph{intersection density} of $G$ is the number $$ρ(G) = \max\left\{ \mathcal{|F|}/|G_ω| \mid \mathcal{F}\subset G \mbox{ is intersecting} \right\},$$ where $ω\inΩ$ and $G_ω$ is the stabilizer of $ω$ in $G$.
It is known that if $G\leq \operatorname{Sym}(Ω)$ is an imprimitive group of degree a product of two odd primes $p>q$ admitting a block of size $p$ or two complete block systems, whose blocks are of size $q$, then $ρ(G) = 1$.
In this paper, we analyse the intersection density of imprimitive groups of degree $pq$ with a unique block system with blocks of size $q$ based on the kernel of the induced action on blocks. For those whose kernels are non-trivial, it is proved that the intersection density is larger than $1$ whenever there exists a cyclic code $C$ with parameters $[p,k]_q$ such that any codeword of $C$ has weight at most $p-1$, and under some additional conditions on the cyclic code, it is a proper rational number. For those that are quasiprimitive, we reduce the cases to almost simple groups containing $\operatorname{Alt}(5)$ or a projective special linear group. We give some examples where the latter has intersection density equal to $1$, under some restrictions on $p$ and $q$.
Perfect codes in quintic Cayley graphs on abelian groups
A subset $C$ of the vertex set of a graph $Γ$ is called a perfect code of $Γ$ if every vertex of $Γ$ is at distance no more than one to exactly one vertex in $C$. In this paper, we classify all connected quintic Cayley graphs on abelian groups that admit a perfect code, and determine completely all perfect codes of such graphs.
Enhanced power graphs of groups are weakly perfect
A graph is weakly perfect if its clique number and chromatic number are equal. We show that the enhanced power graph of a finite group $G$ is weakly perfect: its clique number and chromatic number are equal to the maximum order of an element of $G$. The proof requires a combinatorial lemma. We give some remarks about related graphs.

In the recent years, the generalization of the Erdős-Ko-Rado (EKR) theorem to permutation groups has been of much interest. A transitive group is said to satisfy the EKR-module property if the characteristic vector of every maximum intersecting set is a linear combination of the characteristic vectors of cosets of stabilizers of points. This generalization of the well-know permutation group version of the Erdős-Ko-Rado (EKR) theorem, was introduced by K. Meagher. In this article, we present several infinite families of permutation groups satisfying the EKR-module property, which shows that permutation groups satisfying this property are quite diverse.

Let $W$ be a Coxeter group and let $Φ^+$ be its positive roots. A subset $B$ of $Φ^+$ is called biclosed if, whenever we have roots $α$, $β$ and $γ$ with $γ\in \mathbb{R}_{>0} α+ \mathbb{R}_{>0} β$, if $α$ and $β\in B$ then $γ\in B$ and, if $α$ and $β\not\in B$, then $γ\not\in B$. The finite biclosed sets are the inversion sets of the elements of $W$, and the containment between finite inversion sets is the weak order on $W$. Matthew Dyer suggested studying the poset of all biclosed subsets of $Φ^+$, ordered by containment, and conjectured that it is a complete lattice. As progress towards Dyer's conjecture, we classify all biclosed sets in the affine root systems. We provide both a type uniform description, and concrete models in the classical types $\widetilde{A}$, $\widetilde{B}$, $\widetilde{C}$, $\widetilde{D}$. We use our models to prove that biclosed sets form a complete lattice in types $\widetilde{A}$ and $\widetilde{C}$.
Structured Decompositions: Structural and Algorithmic Compositionality
We introduce structured decompositions, category-theoretic structures which simultaneously generalize notions from graph theory (including treewidth, layered treewidth, co-treewidth, graph decomposition width, tree independence number, hypergraph treewidth and H-treewidth), geometric group theory (specifically Bass-Serre theory), and dynamical systems (e.g. hybrid dynamical systems). We define width functors, which provide a compositional way to analyze and relate different structural complexity measures, and establish a general duality between decompositions and completions of objects.
Asymptotics for a certain group of exponential generating functions
The exponential generating function for the sequence A143405 in the OEIS is exp(exp(x)*(exp(x) - 1)). This paper analyzes the more general generating function exp(m*exp(b*x) + r*exp(d*x) + s) and provides asymptotics for the sequences A143405, A355291, A002872, A002874 and others in the OEIS.

We prove that deciding the vanishing of the character of the symmetric group is $C_=P$-complete. We use this hardness result to prove that the the square of the character is not contained in $\#P$, unless the polynomial hierarchy collapses to the second level. This rules out the existence of any (unsigned) combinatorial description for the square of the characters. As a byproduct of our proof we conclude that deciding positivity of the character is $PP$-complete under many-one reductions, and hence $PH$-hard under Turing-reductions.

In a recent survey, Schmidt compiled equivalences between generalized bent functions, group invariant Butson Hadamard matrices, and abelian splitting relative difference sets. We establish a broader network of equivalences by considering Butson matrices that are cocyclic rather than strictly group invariant. This result has several applications; for example, to the construction of Boolean functions whose expansions are generalized partially bent functions, including cases where no bent function can exist.

As part of the proof of the Bethe ansatz conjecture for the Gaudin model for $\mathfrak{gl}_n$, Mukhin, Tarasov, and Varchenko described a correspondence between inverse Wronskians of polynomials and eigenspaces of the Gaudin Hamiltonians. Notably, this correspondence afforded the first proof of the Shapiro-Shapiro conjecture. In the present paper, we give an identity in the group algebra of the symmetric group, which allows one to establish the correspondence directly, without using the Bethe ansatz.

The enhanced power graph $\mathcal{P}_E(G)$ of a finite group $G$ is the simple undirected graph whose vertex set is $G$ and two distinct vertices $x, y$ are adjacent if $x, y \in \langle z \rangle$ for some $z \in G$. In this article, we give an affirmative answer of the question posed by Cameron [6] which states that: Is it true that the complement of the enhanced power graph $\bar{\mathcal{P}_E(G)}$ of a non-cyclic group $G$ has only one connected component apart from isolated vertices? We classify all finite groups $G$ such that the graph $\bar{\mathcal{P}_E(G)}$ is bipartite. We show that the graph $\bar{\mathcal{P}_E(G)}$ is weakly perfect. Further, we study the subgraph $\bar{\mathcal{P}_E(G^*)}$ of $\bar{\mathcal{P}_E(G)}$ induced by all the non-isolated vertices of $\bar{\mathcal{P}_E(G)}$. We classify all finite groups $G$ such that the graph is $\bar{\mathcal{P}_E(G^*)}$ is unicyclic and pentacyclic. We prove the non-existence of finite groups $G$ such that the graph $\bar{\mathcal{P}_E(G^*)}$ is bicyclic, tricyclic or tetracyclic. Finally, we characterize all finite groups $G$ such that the graph $\bar{\mathcal{P}_E(G^*)}$ is outerplanar, planar, projective-planar and toroidal, respectively.
