For an irreducible crystallographic root system $Φ$ and a positive integer $p$ relatively prime to the Coxeter number $h$ of $Φ$, we give a natural bijection $\mathcal{A}$ from the set $\widetilde{W}^p$ of affine Weyl group elements with no inversions of height $p$ to the finite torus $\check{Q}/p\check{Q}$. Here $\check{Q}$ is the coroot lattice of $Φ$. This bijection is defined uniformly for all irreducible crystallographic root systems $Φ$ and is equivalent to the Anderson map $\mathcal{A}_{GMV}$ defined by Gorsky, Mazin and Vazirani when $Φ$ is of type $A_{n-1}$. Specialising to $p=mh+1$, we use $\mathcal{A}$ to define a uniform $W$-set isomorphism $ζ$ from the finite torus $\check{Q}/(mh+1)\check{Q}$ to the set of $m$-nonnesting parking functions $\mathsf{Park}_Φ^{(m)}$ of $Φ$. The map $ζ$ is equivalent to the zeta map $ζ_{HL}$ of Haglund and Loehr when $m=1$ and $Φ$ is of type $A_{n-1}$.
The Combinatorics of Occam's Razor
Occam's Razor tells us to pick the simplest model that fits our observations. In order to make sense of his process mathematically, we interpret it in the context of posets of functions. Our approach leads to some unusual new combinatorial problems concerning functions between finite sets. The same ideas are used to define a nicely behaved and apparently unknown analogue of the rank of a group. We also make a construction that associates with each group an infinite sequence of numbers called its fusion sequence. The first term in this sequence is determined by the rank of the group and we provide examples of subsequent terms that suggest a subtle relationship between these numbers and the structure of the group.

Let G be a reductive group over the field F=k((t)), where k is an algebraic closure of a finite field, and let W be the (extended) affine Weyl group of G. The associated affine Deligne-Lusztig varieties $X_x(b)$, which are indexed by elements b in G(F) and x in W, were introduced by Rapoport. Basic questions about the varieties $X_x(b)$ which have remained largely open include when they are nonempty, and if nonempty, their dimension. We use techniques inspired by geometric group theory and representation theory to address these questions in the case that b is a pure translation, and so prove much of a sharpened version of Conjecture 9.5.1 of Görtz, Haines, Kottwitz, and Reuman. Our approach is constructive and type-free, sheds new light on the reasons for existing results in the case that b is basic, and reveals new patterns. Since we work only in the standard apartment of the building for G(F), our results also hold in the p-adic context, where we formulate a definition of the dimension of a p-adic Deligne-Lusztig set. We present two immediate consequences of our main results, to class polynomials of affine Hecke algebras and to affine reflection length.
Realization spaces of matroids over hyperfields
We study realization spaces of matroids over hyperfields (in the sense of Baker and Bowler). More precisely, given a matroid M and a hyperfield H we determine the space of all H-matroids over M. This can be seen as the matroid stratum of the hyperfield Grassmannians in the sense of Anderson and Davis. We give different descriptions of these realization spaces (e.g., in terms of Tutte groups or projective classes), allowing for explicit computations. When the hyperfield at hand is topological, the realization spaces have a natural topology. In this case, our models carry the correct homeomorphism type. As applications of our methods we obtain a theorem on the existence of phased matroids that are not realizable over the complex field and are not chirotopal, as well as a result on the diffeomorphism type of complex hyperplane arrangements whose underlying matroid is uniform.
Dunkl kernel associated with dihedral group

In this paper, we pursue the investigations started in \cite{Mas-You} where the authors provide a construction of the Dunkl intertwining operator for a large subset of the set of regular multiplicity values. More precisely, we make concrete the action of this operator on homogeneous polynomials when the root system is of dihedral type and under a mild assumption on the multiplicity function. In particular, we obtain a formula for the corresponding Dunkl kernel and another representation of the generalized Bessel function already derived in \cite{Demni0}. When the multiplicity function is everywhere constant, our computations give a solution to the problem of counting the number of decompositions of an element from a dihedral group into a fixed number of (non necessarily simple) reflections. In the remainder of the paper, we supply another method to derive the Dunkl kernel associated with dihedral systems from the corresponding generalized Bessel function. This time, we use the shift principle together with multiple combinations of Dunkl operators corresponding to the vectors of the canonical basis of $\mathbb{R}^2$. When the dihedral system is of order six and only in this case, a single combination suffices to get the Dunkl kernel and agrees up to an isomorphism with the formula recently obtained by Amri \cite[Lemma1]{Amri} in the case of a root system of type $A_2$. We finally derive an integral representation for the Dunkl kernel associated with the dihedral system of order eight.
A quantization of the harmonic analysis on the infinite-dimensional unitary group

The present work stemmed from the study of the problem of harmonic analysis on the infinite-dimensional unitary group U(\infty). That problem consisted in the decomposition of a certain 4-parameter family of unitary representations, which replace the nonexisting two-sided regular representation (Olshanski, J. Funct. Anal., 2003, arXiv:0109193). The required decomposition is governed by certain probability measures on an infinite-dimensional space Ω, which is a dual object to U(\infty). A way to describe those measures is to convert them into determinantal point processes on the real line, it turned out that their correlation kernels are computable in explicit form --- they admit a closed expression in terms of the Gauss hypergeometric function 2-F-1 (Borodin and Olshanski, Ann. Math., 2005, arXiv:0109194).
In the present work we describe a (nonevident) q-discretization of the whole construction. This leads us to a new family of determinantal point processes. We reveal its connection with an exotic finite system of q-discrete orthogonal polynomials --- the so-called pseudo big q-Jacobi polynomials. The new point processes live on a double q-lattice and we show that their correlation kernels are expressed through the basic hypergeometric function 2-φ-1.
A crucial novel ingredient of our approach is an extended version G of the Gelfand-Tsetlin graph (the conventional graph describes the Gelfand-Tsetlin branching rule for irreducible representations of unitary groups). We find the q-boundary of G, thus extending previously known results (Gorin, Adv. Math., 2012, arXiv:1011.1769).
Evidence for parking conjectures

Let $W$ be an irreducible real reflection group. Armstrong, Reiner, and the author presented a model for parking functions attached to W and made three increasingly strong conjectures about these objects. The author generalized these objects and conjectures to the Fuss-Catalan level of generality. Even the weakest of these conjectures would imply a collection of facts in Coxeter-Catalan theory which are at present understood only in a case-by-case fashion. We prove that when $W$ belongs to any the infinite families ABCDI, the strongest of these conjectures is generically true.
Quantum Algebras and Cyclic Quiver Varieties
The purpose of this thesis is to present certain viewpoints on the geometric representation theory of Nakajima cyclic quiver varieties, in relation to the Maulik-Okounkov stable basis. Our main technical tool is the shuffle algebra, which arises as the K-theoretic Hall algebra of the double cyclic quiver. We prove the isomorphism between the shuffle algebra and the quantum toroidal algebra U_{q,t}(sl_n^^), and identify the quotients of Verma modules for the shuffle algebra with the K-theory groups of Nakajima cyclic quiver varieties, which were studied by Nakajima and Varagnolo-Vasserot.
The shuffle algebra viewpoint allows us to construct the universal R-matrix of the quantum toroidal algebra U_{q,t}(sl_n^^), and to factor it in terms of pieces that arise from subalgebras isomorphic to quantum affine groups U_{q}(gl_m^), for various m. This factorization generalizes constructions of Khoroshkin-Tolstoy to the toroidal case, and matches the factorization that Maulik-Okounkov produce via the stable basis in the K-theory of Nakajima quiver varieties. We connect the two pictures by computing formulas for the root generators of U_{q,t}(sl_n^^) acting on the stable basis, which provide a wide extension of Murnaghan-Nakayama and Pieri type rules from combinatorics.

For every finite Coxeter group $Γ$, each positive braids in the corresponding braid group admits a unique decomposition as a finite sequence of elements of $Γ$, the so-called Garside-normal form. The study of the associated adjacency matrix $Adj(Γ)$ allows to count the number of Garside-normal form of a given length. In this paper we prove that the characteristic polynomial of $Adj(B_n)$ divides the one of $Adj(B_{n+1})$. The key point is the use of a Hopf algebra based on signed permutations. A similar result was already known for the type $A$. We observe that this does not hold for type $D$. The other Coxeter types ($I$, $E$, $F$ and $H$) are also studied.

Let $ G $ be a finite group of order $ n$. The strong power graph $\mathcal{P}_s(G) $ of $G$ is the undirected graph whose vertices are the elements of $G$ such that two distinct vertices $a$ and $b$ are adjacent if $a^{{m}_1}$=$b^{{m}_2}$ for some positive integers ${m}_1 ,{m}_2 < n$. In this article we classify all groups $G$ for which $\mathcal{P}_s(G)$ is line graph and Caley graph. Spectrum and permanent of the Laplacian matrix of the strong power graph $\mathcal{P}_s(G)$ are found for any finite group $G$.
Critical ideals of trees
Given a graph $G=(V, E)$, its generalized Laplacian matrix is given by \[ L(G,X_G)_{u,v}= \begin{cases} x_u&\text{if }u=v,\\ -m_{uv}&\text{if }u\neq v, \end{cases} \] where $X_G=\{x_u\, | \, u\in V(G)\}$ is a set of indeterminates and $m_{uv}$ is the number of edges between $u$ and $v$. The $j$-critical ideal of $G$ is the determinantal ideal generated by the minors of size $j$ of $L(G, X)$. A $2$-matching of $G$ is a subset $\mathcal{M}$ of its edges such that every vertex of $G$ has at most two incident edges in $\mathcal{M}$. We give a combinatorial description of a set of generators of the $j$-critical ideal of a tree $T$ as a function of a set of special $2$-matchings, which we called minimal, of the graph $T^\ell$ obtained from $T$ by adding a loop at each of its vertices. Also, we prove that the algebraic co-rank of $T$ is equal to the $2$-matching number of $T$, the maximum number of edges of a $2$-matching of $T$. As a consequence, one can compute each invariant factor of the critical group of any graph $G$ such that $G\setminus v$ is a tree for some of its vertices $v$, as the greatest common divisor of the evaluation of some polynomials associated to the minimal $2$-matchings of $T^\ell$. For instance, in the regular case, we recover some of the results obtained by Levine and Toumpakari about the critical group of a wired regular tree. Additionally, we can prove that the path $P_n$ is the unique simple graph with $n$ vertices and $n-1$ trivial critical ideals. We conjecture that the set of generators that we give is a reduced Gröbner basis and we can prove this for the $|V(T)|-1$-critical ideal. Finally, we apply the result in order to calculate the critical ideals of trees with depth two and some arithmetical trees associated to the reduction of elliptic curves of Kodaira type $I_n^*$.

Cyclic Critical Groups of Graphs
In this note, we describe a construction that leads to families of graphs whose critical groups are cyclic. For some of these families we are able to give a formula for the number of spanning trees of the graph, which then determines the group exactly. We also pose several open questions related to this work.

The representation theory of 0-Hecke-Clifford algebras as a degenerate case is not semisimple and also with rich combinatorial meaning. Bergeron et al. have proved that the Grothendieck ring of the category of finitely generated supermodules of 0-Hecke-Clifford algebras is isomorphic to the algebra of peak quasisymmetric functions defined by Stembridge. In this paper we further study the category of finitely generated projective supermodules and clarify the correspondence between it and the peak algebra of symmetric groups. In particular, two kinds of restriction rules for induced projective supermodules are obtained. After that, we consider the corresponding Heisenberg double and its Fock representation to prove that the ring of peak quasisymmetric functions is free over the subring of symmetric functions spanned by Schur's Q-functions.

A conjugacy class $C$ of a finite group $G$ is a sign conjugacy class if every irreducible character of $G$ takes value 0, 1 or -1 on $C$. In this paper we classify the sign conjugacy classes of alternating groups.

We classify non-complete prime valency graphs satisfying the property that their automorphism group is transitive on both the set of arcs and the set of $2$-geodesics. We prove that either $Γ$ is 2-arc transitive or the valency $p$ satisfies $p\equiv 1\pmod 4$, and for each such prime there is a unique graph with this property: it is a non-bipartite antipodal double cover of the complete graph $K_{p+1}$ with automorphism group $PSL(2,p)\times Z_2$ and diameter 3.

Kraśkiewicz and Pragacz introduced representations of the upper-triangular Lie algebras whose characters are Schubert polynomials. In a previous work the author studied the structure of Kraśkiewicz-Pragacz modules using the theory of highest weight categories. From the results there, in particular we obtain a certain highest weight category whose standard modules are KP modules. In this paper we show that this highest weight category is self Ringel-dual: this leads to an interesting symmetry relation on Ext groups between KP modules. We also show that the tensor product operation on b-modules is compatible with Ringel duality functor.

We prove that given any $ε>0$, random integral $n\times n$ matrices with independent entries that lie in any residue class modulo a prime with probability at most $1-ε$ have cokernels asymptotically (as $n\rightarrow\infty$) distributed as in the distribution on finite abelian groups that Cohen and Lenstra conjecture as the distribution for class groups of imaginary quadratic fields. This is a refinement of a result on the distribution of ranks of random matrices with independent entries in $\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}$. This is interesting especially in light of the fact that these class groups are naturally cokernels of square matrices. We also prove the analogue for $n\times (n+u)$ matrices.
Weighted Hurwitz numbers and hypergeometric $τ$-functions: an overview

This is an overview of recent results on the use of 2D Toda $τ$-functions as generating functions for multiparametric families of weighted Hurwitz numbers. The Bose-Fermi equivalence composed with the characteristic map provides an isomorphism between the zero charge sector of the Fermionic Fock space and the direct sum of the centers of the group algebra of the symmetric groups $S_n$. Specializing the fermionic formula to the case of diagonal group elements gives $τ$-functions of hypergeometric type, for which the expansion over products of Schur functions is diagonal, with coefficients of {\em content product} type. The corresponding abelian group action on the centre of the $S_n$ group algebra is determined by forming symmetric functions multiplicatively from a weight generating function $G(z)$ and evaluating on the Jucys-Murphy elements of the group algebra. The resulting central elements act diagonally on the basis of orthogonal idempotents and the eigenvalues $r^{G(z)}_λ$ are the {\em content product} coefficients appearing in the double Schur function expansion. Both the geometrical meaning of weighted Hurwitz numbers, as weighted sums over $n$-sheeted branched coverings, and the combinatorial one, as weighted enumeration of paths in the Cayley graph of $S_n$ generated by transpositions follow from expansion of the Cauchy-Littlewood generating functions over dual pairs of bases of the algebra of symmetric functions. The coefficients in the resulting $τ$-function expansion over products of power sum symmetric functions are the weighted Hurwitz numbers. Replacement of the Cauchy-Littlewood generating function by that for Macdonald polynomials provides $(q,t)$-deformations that yield generating functions for quantum weighted Hurwitz numbers.
