Here we consider the $q$-series coming from the Hall-Littlewood polynomials, \begin{equation*} R_ν(a,b;q)=\sum_{\substack{λ\\[1pt] λ_1\leq a}} q^{c|λ|} P_{2λ}\big(1,q,q^2,\dots;q^{2b+d}\big). \end{equation*} These series were defined by Griffin, Ono, and Warnaar in their work on the framework of the Rogers-Ramanujan identities. We devise a recursive method for computing the coefficients of these series when they arise within the Rogers-Ramanujan framework. Furthermore, we study the congruence properties of certain quotients and products of these series, generalizing the famous Ramanujan congruence \begin{equation*} p(5n+4)\equiv0\pmod{5}. \end{equation*}
Equimorphy -- The Case of Chains

Two structures are said to be equimorphic if each embeds in the other. Such structures cannot be expected to be isomorphic, and in this paper we investigate the special case of linear orders, here also called chains. In particular we provide structure results for chains having less than continuum any isomorphism classes of equimorphic chains. We deduce as a corollary that any chain has either a single isomorphism class of equimorphic chains or infinitely many.

The Severi degree is the degree of the Severi variety parametrizing plane curves of degree d with delta nodes. Recently, Göttsche and Shende gave two refinements of Severi degrees, polynomials in a variable y, which are conjecturally equal, for large d. At y = 1, one of the refinements, the relative Severi degree, specializes to the (non-relative) Severi degree.
We give a tropical description of the refined Severi degrees, in terms of a refined tropical curve count for all toric surfaces. We also refine the equivalent count of floor diagrams for Hirzebruch and rational ruled surfaces. Our description implies that, for fixed delta, the refined Severi degrees are polynomials in d and y, for large d. As a consequence, we show that, for delta <= 10 and all d, both refinements of Göttsche and Shende agree and equal our refined counts of tropical curves and floor diagrams.

The Bounded Negativity Conjecture predicts that for any smooth complex surface $X$ there exists a lower bound for the selfintersection of reduced divisors on $X$. This conjecture is open. It is also not known if the existence of such a lower bound is invariant in the birational equivalence class of $X$. In the present note we introduce certain constants $H(X)$ which measure in effect the variance of the lower bounds in the birational equivalence class of $X$. We focus on rational surfaces and relate the value of $H({\mathbb P}^2)$ to certain line arrangements. Our main result is Theorem 3.3 and the main open challenge is Problem 3.10.

Let $\mathbb{N}_0$ be the set of all non-negative integers and $\mathcal{P}(\mathbb{N}_0)$ be its power set. An integer additive set-indexer (IASI) is defined as an injective function $f:V(G)\to \mathcal{P}(\mathbb{N}_0)$ such that the induced function $f^+:E(G) \to \mathcal{P}(\mathbb{N}_0)$ defined by $f^+(uv) = f(u)+ f(v)$ is also injective, where $\mathbb{N}_0$ is the set of all non-negative integers. A graph $G$ which admits an IASI is called an IASI graph. An IASI of a graph $G$ is said to be an arithmetic IASI if the elements of the set-labels of all vertices and edges of $G$ are in arithmetic progressions. In this paper, we discuss about a particular type of arithmetic IASI called prime arithmetic IASI.

For a non-empty ground set $X$, finite or infinite, the {\em set-valuation} or {\em set-labeling} of a given graph $G$ is an injective function $f:V(G) \to \mathcal{P}(X)$, where $\mathcal{P}(X)$ is the power set of the set $X$. A set-indexer of a graph $G$ is an injective set-valued function $f:V(G) \to \mathcal{P}(X)$ such that the function $f^{\ast}:E(G)\to \mathcal{P}(X)-\{\emptyset\}$ defined by $f^{\ast}(uv) = f(u){\ast} f(v)$ for every $uv{\in} E(G)$ is also injective., where $\ast$ is a binary operation on sets. An integer additive set-indexer (IASI) is defined as an injective function $f:V(G)\to \mathcal{P}({\mathbb{N}_0})$ such that the induced function $g_f:E(G) \to \mathcal{P}(\mathbb{N}_0)$ defined by $g_f (uv) = f(u)+ f(v)$ is also injective, where $\mathbb{N}_0$ is the set of all non-negative integers and $\mathcal{P}(\mathbb{N}_0)$ is its power set. A weak IASI is an IASI $f$ such that $|f^+(uv)|= \text{max}(f(u),f(v))$. In this paper, we critically and creatively review the concepts and properties of weak integer additive set-valued graphs.
Favaron's Theorem, k-dependence, and Tuza's Conjecture
A vertex set $D$ in a graph $G$ is $k$-dependent if $G[D]$ has maximum degree at most $k-1$, and $k$-dominating if every vertex outside $D$ has at least $k$ neighbors in $D$. Favaron proved that if $D$ is a $k$-dependent set maximizing the quantity $k|D| - |E(G[D])|$, then $D$ is $k$-dominating. We extend this result, showing that such sets satisfy a stronger structural property, and we find a surprising connection between Favaron's theorem and a conjecture of Tuza regarding packing and covering of triangles.

We use elementary methods to prove an incidence theorem for points and spheres in $\mathbb{F}_q^n$. As an application, we show that any point set of $P\subset \mathbb{F}_q^2$ with $|P|\geq 5q$ determines a positive proportion of all circles. The latter result is an analogue of Beck's Theorem for circles which is optimal up to multiplicative constants.
Eulerian digraphs and Dyck words, a bijection
The main goal of this work is to establish a bijection between Dyck words and a family of Eulerian digraphs. We do so by providing two algorithms implementing such bijection in both directions. The connection between Dyck words and Eulerian digraphs exploits a novel combinatorial structure: a binary matrix, we call Dyck matrix, representing the cycles of an Eulerian digraph.
Which nestohedra are removahedra?

A removahedron is a polytope obtained by deleting inequalities from the facet description of the classical permutahedron. Relevant examples range from the associahedra to the permutahedron itself, which raises the natural question to characterize which nestohedra can be realized as removahedra. In this note, we show that the nested complex of any connected building set closed under intersection can be realized as a removahedron. We present two different complementary proofs: one based on the building trees and the nested fan, and the other based on Minkowski sums of dilated faces of the standard simplex. In general, this closure condition is sufficient but not necessary to obtain removahedra. However, we show that it is also necessary to obtain removahedra from graphical building sets, and that it is equivalent to the corresponding graph being chordful (i.e. any cycle induces a clique).

A signed graph is a pair $(G,Σ)$, where $G=(V,E)$ is a graph (in which parallel edges are permitted, but loops are not) with $V=\{1,\ldots,n\}$ and $Σ\subseteq E$. The edges in $Σ$ are called odd and the other edges of $E$ even. By $S(G,Σ)$ we denote the set of all symmetric $n\times n$ matrices $A=[a_{i,j}]$ with $a_{i,j}<0$ if $i$ and $j$ are adjacent and connected by only even edges, $a_{i,j}>0$ if $i$ and $j$ are adjacent and connected by only odd edges, $a_{i,j}\in \mathbb{R}$ if $i$ and $j$ are connected by both even and odd edges, $a_{i,j}=0$ if $i\not=j$ and $i$ and $j$ are non-adjacent, and $a_{i,i} \in \mathbb{R}$ for all vertices $i$. The parameters $M(G,Σ)$ and $ξ(G,Σ)$ of a signed graph $(G,Σ)$ are the largest nullity of any matrix $A\in S(G,Σ)$ and the largest nullity of any matrix $A\in S(G,Σ)$ that has the Strong Arnold Hypothesis, respectively. In a previous paper, we gave a characterization of signed graphs $(G,Σ)$ with $M(G,Σ)\leq 1$ and of signed graphs with $ξ(G,Σ)\leq 1$. In this paper, we characterize the $2$-connected signed graphs $(G,Σ)$ with $M(G,Σ)\leq 2$ and the $2$-connected signed graphs $(G,Σ)$ with $ξ(G,Σ)\leq 2$.

The expansion $G^+$ of a graph $G$ is the $3$-uniform hypergraph obtained from $G$ by enlarging each edge of $G$ with a new vertex disjoint from $V(G)$ such that distinct edges are enlarged by distinct vertices. Let $ex_3(n,F)$ denote the maximum number of edges in a $3$-uniform hypergraph with $n$ vertices not containing any copy of a $3$-uniform hypergraph $F$. The study of $ex_3(n,G^+)$ includes some well-researched problems, including the case that $F$ consists of $k$ disjoint edges, $G$ is a triangle, $G$ is a path or cycle, and $G$ is a tree. In this paper we initiate a broader study of the behavior of $ex_3(n,G^+)$. Specifically, we show \[ ex_3(n,K_{s,t}^+) = Θ(n^{3 - 3/s})\] whenever $t > (s - 1)!$ and $s \geq 3$. One of the main open problems is to determine for which graphs $G$ the quantity $ex_3(n,G^+)$ is quadratic in $n$. We show that this occurs when $G$ is any bipartite graph with Turán number $o(n^{\varphi})$ where $\varphi = \frac{1 + \sqrt{5}}{2}$, and in particular, this shows $ex_3(n,Q^+) = Θ(n^2)$ where $Q$ is the three-dimensional cube graph.
The critical pulling force for self-avoiding walks

Self-avoiding walks are a simple and well-known model of long, flexible polymers in a good solvent. Polymers being pulled away from a surface by an external agent can be modelled with self-avoiding walks in a half-space, with a Boltzmann weight $y = e^f$ associated with the pulling force. This model is known to have a critical point at a certain value $y_c$ of this Boltzmann weight, which is the location of a transition between the so-called free and ballistic phases. The value $y_c=1$ has been conjectured by several authors using numerical estimates. We provide a relatively simple proof of this result, and show that further properties of the free energy of this system can be determined by re-interpreting existing results about the two-point function of self-avoiding walks.

Let $Δ$ be an integer $n \times n$-matrix which satisfies the
conditions: $\det Δ\neq 0$, $Δ_{ij}\leq 0\text{ for }i\neq j,$ and
there exists a vector ${\bf r}=(r_1,\ldots,r_n)>0$ such that ${\bf r}Δ\geq 0$. Here the notation ${\bf r}> 0$ means that $r_i>0$ for all $i$, and ${\bf r}\geq {\bf r}'$ means that $r_i\geq r'_i$ for every $i$. Let $\mathscr{R}(Δ)$ be the set of vectors ${\bf r}$ such that ${\bf r}>0$ and ${\bf r}Δ\geq 0$. In this paper, $(Δ,{\bf r})$-parking functions are defined for any ${\bf r}\in\mathscr{R}(Δ)$. It is proved that the set of $(Δ,{\bf r})$-parking functions is independent of ${\bf r}$ for any ${\bf r}\in\mathscr{R}(Δ)$. For this reason, $(Δ,{\bf r})$-parking functions are simply called $Δ$-parking functions. It is shown that the number of $Δ$-parking functions is less than or equal to the determinant of $Δ$. Moreover, the definition of $(Δ,{\bf r})$-recurrent configurations are given for any ${\bf r}\in\mathscr{R}(Δ)$. It is proved that the set of $(Δ,{\bf r})$-recurrent configurations is independent of ${\bf r}$ for any ${\bf r}\in\mathscr{R}(Δ)$. Hence, $(Δ,{\bf r})$-recurrent configurations are simply called $Δ$-recurrent configurations. It is obtained that the number of $Δ$-recurrent configurations is larger than or equal to the determinant of $Δ$. A simple bijection from $Δ$-parking functions to $Δ$-recurrent configurations is established. It follows from this bijection that the number of $Δ$-parking functions and the number of $Δ$-recurrent configurations are both equal to the determinant of $Δ$.

We consider two families of weighted zero-sum constants for finite abelian groups. For a finite abelian group $( G , + )$, a set of weights $W \subset \mathbb{Z}$, and an integral parameter $m$, the $m$-wise Davenport constant with weights $W$ is the smallest integer $n$ such that each sequence over $G$ of length $n$ has at least $m$ disjoint zero-subsums with weights $W$. And, for an integral parameter $d$, the $d$-constrained Davenport constant with weights $W$ is the smallest $n$ such that each sequence over $G$ of length $n$ has a zero-subsum with weights $W$ of size at most $d$. First, we establish a link between these two types of constants and several basic and general results on them. Then, for elementary $p$-groups, establishing a link between our constants and the parameters of linear codes as well as the cardinality of cap sets in certain projective spaces, we obtain various explicit results on the values of these constants.

Let $H$ be a Krull monoid with class group $G$ and suppose that each class contains a prime divisor. Then every element $a \in H$ has a factorization into irreducible elements, and the set $\mathsf L (a)$ of all possible factorization lengths is the set of lengths of $a$. We consider the system $\mathcal L (H) = \{ \mathsf L (a) \mid a \in H \}$ of all sets of lengths, and we characterize (in terms of the class group $G$) when $\mathcal L (H)$ is additively closed under set addition.

In this paper we prove the strong $q$-log-convexity of the Eulerian polynomials of Coxeter groups using their exponential generating functions. Our proof is based on the theory of exponential Riordan arraya and a criterion for determining the strong $q$-log-convexity of polynomials sequences, whose generating functions can be given by the continued fraction. As consequences, we get the strong $q$-log-convexity the Eulerian polynomials of type $A_n,B_n$, their $q$-analogous and the generalized Eulerian polynomials associated to the arithmetic progression $\{a,a+d,a+2d,a+3d,\ldots\}$ in a unified manner.

A matching $M$ in a multigraph $G=(V,E)$ is said to be uniquely restricted if $M$ is the only perfect matching in the subgraph of $G$ induced by $V(M)$ (i.e., the set of vertices saturated by $M$). For any fixed vertex $x_0$ in $G$, there is a bijection from the set of spanning trees of $G$ to the set of uniquely restricted matchings of size $|V|-1$ in $S(G)-x_0$, where $S(G)$ is the bipartite graph obtained from $G$ by subdividing each edge in $G$. Thus the notion "uniquely restricted matchings of a bipartite graph $H$ saturating all vertices in a partite set $X$" can be viewed as an extension of "spanning trees in a connected graph". Motivated by this observation, we extend the notion "G-parking functions" of a connected multigraph to "B-parking functions" $f:X\rightarrow \{-1,0,1,2,\cdots \}$ of a bipartite graph $H$ with a bipartition $(X,Y)$ and find a bijection $ψ$ from the set of uniquely restricted matchings of $H$ to the set of B-parking functions of $H$. We also show that for any uniquely restricted matching $M$ in $H$ with $|M|=|X|$, if $f=ψ(M)$, then $\sum_{x\in X}f(x)$ is exactly the number of elements $y\in Y-V(M)$ which are not externally B-active with respect to $M$ in $H$, where the new notion "externally B-active members with respect to $M$ in $H$" is an extension of "externally active edges with respect to a spanning tree in a connected multigraph".
