Let B be a real hyperplane arrangement which is stable under the action of a Coxeter group W. Then B acts naturally on the set of chambers of B. We assume that B is disjoint from the Coxeter arrangement A=A(W) of W. In this paper, we show that the W-orbits of the set of chambers of B are in one-to-one correspondence with the chambers of C=A\cup B which are contained in an arbitrarily fixed chamber of A. From this fact, we find that the number of W-orbits of the set of chambers of B is given by the number of chambers of C divided by the order of W. We will also study the set of chambers of C which are contained in a chamber b of B. We prove that the cardinality of this set is equal to the order of the isotropy subgroup W_b of b. We illustrate these results with some examples, and solve an open problem in Kamiya, Takemura and Terao [Ranking patterns of unfolding models of codimension one, Adv. in Appl. Math. (2010)] by using our results.
Orienting and separating distance-transitive graphs

It is shown that exactly 7 distance-transitive cubic graphs among the existing 12 possess a particular ultrahomogeneous property with respect to oriented cycles realizing the girth that allows the construction of a related Cayley digraph with similar ultrahomogeneous properties in which those oriented cycles appear minimally "pulled apart", or "separated" and whose description is truly beautiful and insightful. This work is proposed as the initiation of a study of similar ultrahomogeneous properties for distance-transitive graphs in general with the aim of generalizing to constructions of similar related "separator" Cayley digraphs.

Let $G$ be a graph with vertex set $V(G)$ and edge set $E(G)$, and $f$ be a 0-1 labeling of $E(G)$ so that the absolute difference in the number of edges labeled 1 and 0 is no more than one. Call such a labeling $f$ \emph{edge-friendly}. We say an edge-friendly labeling induces a \emph{partial vertex labeling} if vertices which are incident to more edges labeled 1 than 0, are labeled 1, and vertices which are incident to more edges labeled 0 than 1, are labeled 0. Vertices that are incident to an equal number of edges of both labels we call \emph{unlabeled}. Call a procedure on a labeled graph a \emph{label switching algorithm} if it consists of pairwise switches of labels. Given an edge-friendly labeling of $K_n$, we show a label switching algorithm producing an edge-friendly relabeling of $K_n$ such that all the vertices are labeled. We call such a labeling \textit{opinionated}.

A lonesum matrix is a matrix that can be uniquely reconstructed from its row and column sums. Kaneko defined the poly-Bernoulli numbers $B_m^{(n)}$ by a generating function, and Brewbaker computed the number of binary lonesum $m\times n$-matrices and showed that this number coincides with the poly-Bernoulli number $B_m^{(-n)}$. We compute the number of $q$-ary lonesum $m\times n$-matrices, and then provide generalized Kaneko's formulas by using the generating function for the number of $q$-ary lonesum $m\times n$-matrices. In addition, we define two types of $q$-ary lonesum matrices that are composed of strong and weak lonesum matrices, and suggest further researches on lonesum matrices. \

Given a connected locally finite simplicial graph $ G$ with vertex set $V$, the combinatorial Laplacian $Δ_G \colon \R^V \to \R^V$ is defined on the space of all real-valued functions on $V$. We prove that $Δ_G$ is surjective if $G$ is infinite.
An exactly solvable self-convolutive recurrence

We consider a self-convolutive recurrence whose solution is the sequence of coefficients in the asymptotic expansion of the logarithmic derivative of the confluent hypergeometic function $U(a,b,z)$. By application of the Hilbert transform we convert this expression into an explicit, non-recursive solution in which the $n$th coefficient is expressed as the $(n-1)$th moment of a measure, and also as the trace of the $(n-1)$th iterate of a linear operator. Applications of these sequences, and hence of the explicit solution provided, are found in quantum field theory as the number of Feynman diagrams of a certain type and order, in Brownian motion theory, and in combinatorics.
Approximating Cayley diagrams versus Cayley graphs

We construct a sequence of finite graphs that weakly converge to a Cayley graph, but there is no labelling of the edges that would converge to the corresponding Cayley diagram. A similar construction is used to give graph sequences that converge to the same limit, and such that a spanning tree in one of them has a limit that is not approximable by any subgraph of the other. We give an example where this subtree is a Hamiltonian cycle, but convergence is meant in a stronger sense. These latter are related to whether having a Hamiltonian cycle is a testable graph property.

We use Kazhdan-Lusztig bases of representations of the symmetric group to express Pfaffians with entries $(a_i-a_j) h_{i+j}$. In the case where the parameters $a_i$ are specialized to successive powers of $q$, and the $h_i$ are complete functions, we obtain the $q$-discriminant.

We characterize strongly edge regular product graphs and find the edge-balanced index sets of complete bipartite graphs without a perfect matching, the direct product $K_n\times K_2$. We also prove a lemma that is helpful to determine the edge-balanced index sets of regular graphs.

We explore the connections between the well-studied Aztec Diamond graphs and a new family of graphs called the Half-Hexagons, discovered by Jonathan Novak. In particular, both families of graphs have very simple domino shuffling algorithms, which turn out to be intimately related. This connection allows us to prove an "arctic parabola" theorem for the Half-Hexagons as a corollary of the Arctic Circle theorem for the Aztec Diamond.

Alon's combinatorial Nullstellensatz, and in particular the resulting nonvanishing criterion is one of the most powerful algebraic tools in combinatorics, with many important applications. In this paper we extend the nonvanishing theorem in two directions. We prove a version allowing multiple points. Also, we establish a variant which is valid over arbitrary commutative rings, not merely over subrings of fields. As an application, we prove extensions of the theorem of Alon and Füredi on hyperplane coverings of discrete cubes.

The generalised random Fibonacci chain is a stochastic extension of the classical Fibonacci substitution and is defined as the rule mapping $0\mapsto 1$ and $1 \mapsto 1^i01^{m-i}$ with probability $p_i$, where $p_i\geq 0$ with $\sum_{i=0}^m p_i=1$, and where the random rule is applied each time it acts on a 1. We show that the topological entropy of this object is given by the growth rate of the set of inflated generalised random Fibonacci words.

This book is a detailed introduction to the theory of finite type (Vassiliev) knot invariants, with a stress on its combinatorial aspects. It is intended to serve both as a textbook for readers with no or little background in this area, and as a guide to some of the more advanced material. Our aim is to lead the reader to understanding by means of pictures and calculations, and for this reason we often prefer to convey the idea of the proof on an instructive example rather than give a complete argument. While we have made an effort to make the text reasonably self-contained, an advanced reader is sometimes referred to the original papers for the technical details of the proofs. Version 3: some typos and inaccuracies are corrected.
Rotor-Router Aggregation on the Comb

We prove a shape theorem for rotor-router aggregation on the comb, for a specific initial rotor configuration and clockwise rotor sequence for all vertices. Furthermore, as an application of rotor-router walks, we describe the harmonic measure of the rotor-router aggregate and related shapes, which is useful in the study of other growth models on the comb. We also identify the shape for which the harmonic measure is uniform. This gives the first known example where the rotor-router cluster has non-uniform harmonic measure, and grows with different speeds in different directions.

We study the distribution of the major index with sign on some parabolic quotients of the symmetric group, extending and generalizing simultaneously results Gessel-Simion and Adin-Gessel-Roichman, and on some special trees that we call rakes. We further consider and compute the distribution of the flag-major index on some parabolic quotients of wreath products and other related groups. All these distributions turn out to have very simple factorization formulas.
On Laplacian like energy of trees

Let $G$ be a simple undirected $n$-vertex graph with the characteristic polynomial of its Laplacian matrix $L(G)$, $\det (λI - L (G))=\sum_{k = 0}^n (-1)^k c_k λ^{n - k}$. Laplacian--like energy of a graph is newly proposed graph invariant, defined as the sum of square roots of Laplacian eigenvalues. For bipartite graphs, the Laplacian--like energy coincides with the recently defined incidence energy $IE (G)$ of a graph. In [D. Stevanovi\' c, \textit{Laplacian--like energy of trees}, MATCH Commun. Math. Comput. Chem. 61 (2009), 407--417.] the author introduced a partial ordering of graphs based on Laplacian coefficients. We point out that original proof was incorrect and illustrate the error on the example using Laplacian Estrada index. Furthermore, we found the inverse of Jacobian matrix with elements representing derivatives of symmetric polynomials of order $n$, and provide a corrected elementary proof of the fact: Let $G$ and $H$ be two $n$-vertex graphs; if for Laplacian coefficients holds $c_k (G) \leqslant c_k (H)$ for $k = 1, 2, ..., n - 1$, then $LEL (G) \leqslant LEL (H)$. In addition, we generalize this theorem and provide a necessary condition for functions that satisfy partial ordering based on Laplacian coefficients.

The clique cover number of a graph G is the minimum number of cliques required to cover the edges of graph G. In this paper we consider the random graph G(n,p), for p constant. We prove that with probability 1-o(1), the clique number of G(n,p) is Theta(n^2/\log^2n).

Zeckendorf family identities generalized
Philip Matchett Wood and Doron Zeilberger have constructed identities for the Fibonacci numbers $f_n$ of the form $1f_n = f_n$ for all $n \geq 1$; $2f_n = f_{n-2} + f_{n+1}$ for all $n \geq 3$; $3f_n = f_{n-2} + f_{n+2}$ for all $n \geq 3$; $4f_n = f_{n-2} + f_{n} + f_{n+2}$ for all $n \geq 3$; ...; the general identity in this family has the form $kf_n = \sum_{s \in S_k} f_{n+s}$ (for all sufficiently high $n$), where $S_k$ is a finite set of integers that depends only on $k$ and contains no two consecutive integers. These identities are generalized, replacing the left-hand side $kf_n$ by arbitrary sums of the form $f_{n+a_1} + f_{n+a_2} + \cdots + f_{n+a_p}$ for arbitrary integers $a_1, a_2, \ldots, a_p$. The resulting theorem is proved using the connection between the Fibonacci numbers and the golden ratio.
The phylogeny graphs of doubly partial orders

The competition graph of a doubly partial order is known to be an interval graph. The CCE graph and the niche graph of a doubly partial order are also known to be interval graphs if the graphs do not contain a cycle of length four and three as an induced subgraph, respectively. Phylogeny graphs are variant of competition graphs. The phylogeny graph $P(D)$ of a digraph $D$ is the (simple undirected) graph defined by $V(P(D)):=V(D)$ and $E(P(D)):=\{xy \mid N^+_D(x) \cap N^+_D(y) \neq \emptyset \} \cup \{xy \mid (x,y) \in A(D) \}$, where $N^+_D(x):=\{v \in V(D) \mid (x,v) \in A(D)\}$.
In this note, we show that the phylogeny graph of a doubly partial order is an interval graph. We also show that, for any interval graph $G$, there exists an interval graph $\tilde{G}$ such that $\tilde{G}$ contains the graph $G$ as an induced subgraph and that $\tilde{G}$ is the phylogeny graph of a doubly partial order.
