Determining the Locating Rainbow Connection Number of Vertex-Transitive Graphs
The locating rainbow connection number of a graph is defined as the minimum number of colors required to color vertices such that every two vertices there exists a rainbow vertex path and every vertex has a distinct rainbow code. This rainbow code signifies a distance between vertices within a given set of colors in a graph. This paper aims to determine the locating rainbow connection number for vertex-transitive graphs. Three main theorems are derived, focusing on the locating rainbow connection number for some vertex-transitive graphs
A Note on Fano Planes in Orthogonal Buekenhout-Metz Unitals of Even Order
An O'Nan configuration in a unital is a set of four lines forming a quadrilateral, where the six intersections of pairs of lines are points of the unital. In 2019 Feng and Li elegantly construct O'Nan configurations in orthogonal and Tits Buekenhout-Metz unitals. We extend their work by extending their construction to a Fano plane embedded in the orthogonal Buekenhout-Metz unital of even order. We deduce that there exist O'Nan configurations in orthogonal Buekenhout-Metz unitals different to those of Feng and Li, and make a conjecture about Fano planes embedded in orthogonal Buekenhout-Metz unitals.
Triple O'Nan Configurations in Buekenhout-Metz Unitals of Odd Order
An O'Nan configuration in a unital is a set of four lines forming a quadrilateral, where the six intersections of pairs of lines are points of the unital. In 2019 Feng and Li elegantly construct O'Nan configurations in Buekenhout-Metz unitals, in particular, for odd order unitals. We extend their work by showing the existence of Triple O'Nan configurations (a configuration containing three distinct O'Nan configurations) in these odd order Buekenhout-Metz unitals.
Spectral radius and the 2-power of Hamilton paths
We determine the maximum number of a graph without containing the 2-power of a Hamilton path. Using this result, we establish a spectral condition for a graph containing the 2-power of a Hamilton path.

It is known that for the Young diagram of any partition of an integer $n$, the sum of squares of the hook lengths of its cells is exactly $n^2$ more than that of the contents of its cells. That is, for any partition $λ$ of an integer $n$, \begin{equation*}
\sum_{u \in λ} h(u)^2 = n^2 + \sum_{u \in λ} c(u)^2. \end{equation*} We provide a bijective proof of this fact, thus solving a problem posed by Stanley. Along the way, we obtain a formula for the number of rectangles in the Young diagram of a partition. We also mention a result for sums of other powers of hook lengths and contents.
Colouring of Maximal $F$-free Subsets
For each finite poset $F$ with $|F| > 1$, $χ_{ac}(F)$ denotes the smallest integer $n$ (if it exists) such that the elements of every finite poset $P$ with $|P| > 1$ can be coloured with at most $n$ colours so that every maximal $F$-free subset of $P$ with more than one element gets at least two colours. In this note we discuss the problem of determining $χ_{ac}(F)$ for each poset $F$, give one new result, and summarize what is known for posets $F$ with at most four elements.

Recently, Xia introduced a deterministic variation $φ_σ$ of Defant and Kravitz's stack-sorting maps for set partitions and showed that any set partition $p$ is sorted by $φ^{N(p)}_{aba}$, where $N(p)$ is the number of distinct alphabets in $p$. Xia then asked which set partitions $p$ are not sorted by $φ_{aba}^{N(p)-1}$. In this note, we prove that the minimal length of a set partition $p$ that is not sorted by $φ_{aba}^{N(p)-1}$ is $2N(p)$. Then we show that there is only one set partition of length $2N(p)$ and ${{N(p) + 1} \choose 2} + 2{N(p) \choose 2}$ set partitions of length $2N(p)+1$ that are not sorted by $φ_{aba}^{N(p)-1}$.

The general position problem in graphs is to find the maximum number of vertices that can be selected such that no three vertices lie on a common shortest path. The mutual-visibility problem in graphs is to find the maximum number of vertices that can be selected such that every pair of vertices in the collection has a shortest path between them with no vertex from the collection as an internal vertex. In this paper, the general position problem and the mutual-visibility problem is investigated in double graphs and in Mycielskian graphs. Sharp general bounds are proved, in particular involving the total mutual-visibility number and the outer mutual-visibility number of base graphs. Several exact values are also determined, in particular the mutual-visibility number of the double graphs and of the Mycielskian of cycles.

The study of $P$-polynomial association schemes (distance-regular graphs) and $Q$-polynomial association schemes, and in particular $P$- and $Q$-polynomial association schemes, has been a central theme not only in the theory of association schemes but also in the whole study of algebraic combinatorics in general. Leonard's theorem (1982) says that the spherical functions (or the character tables) of $P$- and $Q$-polynomial association schemes are described by Askey-Wilson orthogonal polynomials or their relatives. These polynomials are one-variable orthogonal polynomials. It seems that the new attempt to define and study higher rank $P$- and $Q$-polynomial association schemes had been hoped for, but had gotten only limited success. The first very successful attempt was initiated recently by Bernard-Crampé-d'Andecy-Vinet-Zaimi [arXiv:2212.10824], and then followed by Bannai-Kurihara-Zhao-Zhu [arXiv:2305.00707]. The general theory and some explicit examples of families of higher rank (multivariate) $P$- and/or $Q$-polynomial association schemes have been obtained there. The main purpose of the present paper is to prove that some important families of association schemes are shown to be bivariate $Q$-polynomial. Namely, we show that all the nonbinary Johnson association schemes and all the attenuated space association schemes are bivariate $Q$-polynomial. It should be noted that the parameter restrictions needed in the previous papers are completely lifted in this paper. Our proofs are done by explicitly calculating the Krein parameters of these association schemes. At the end, we mention some speculations and indications of what we can expect in the future study.
The Strong Nine Dragon Tree Conjecture is True for $d \leq 2(k+1)$
The arboricity $Γ(G)$ of an undirected graph $G =(V,E)$ is the minimal number $k$ such that $E$ can be partitioned into $k$ forests on $V$. Nash-Williams' formula states that $k = \lceil γ(G) \rceil$, where $γ(G)$ is the maximum of $\frac{|E_{H}|}{|V_{H}|-1}$ over all subgraphs $(V_H , E_H )$ of $G$ with $|V_H | \geq 2$. The Strong Nine Dragon Tree Conjecture states that if $γ(G) \leq k + \frac{d}{d+k+1}$ for $k, d \in \mathbb{N}$, then there is a partition of the edge set of $G$ into $k + 1$ forests on $V$ such that one forest has at most $d$ edges in each connected component. Here we prove the Strong Nine Dragon Tree Conjecture when $d \leq 2(k +1)$, which is a new result for all $(k, d)$ such that $d > k + 1$. In fact, we prove a stronger theorem. We prove that a weaker sparsity notion, called $(k, d)$-sparseness, suffices to give the decomposition, under the assumption that the graph decomposes into $k+1$ forests. This is a new result for all $(k, d)$ where $d > 1$, and improves upon the recent resolution of the Overfull Nine Dragon Tree Theorem for all $(k, d)$ when $d \leq 2(k +1)$. As a corollary, we obtain that planar graphs of girth five decompose into a forest and a forest where every component has at most four edges, and by duality, we obtain that $5$-edge-connected planar graphs have a $\frac{4}{5}$-thin tree, improving a result of the authors that $5$-edge-connected planar graphs have a $\frac{5}{6}$-thin tree
Matchings in multipartite hypergraphs

A folklore result on matchings in graphs states that if $G$ is a bipartite graph whose vertex classes $A$ and $B$ each have size $n$, with $\mathrm{deg}(u) \geq a$ for every $u \in A$ and $\mathrm{deg}(v) \geq b$ for every $v \in B$, then $G$ admits a matching of size $\min\{n, a+b\}$. In this paper we establish the analogous result for large $k$-partite $k$-uniform hypergraphs, answering a question of Han, Zang and Zhao, who previously demonstrated that this result holds under the additional condition that the minimum degrees into at least two of the vertex classes are large. A key part of our proof is a study of rainbow matchings under a combination of degree and multiplicity conditions, which may be of independent interest.

The arithmetic-geometric index is a newly proposed degree-based graph invariant in mathematical chemistry. We give a sharp upper bound on the value of this invariant for connected chemical graphs of given order and size and characterize the connected chemical graphs that reach the bound. We also prove that the removal of the constraint that extremal chemical graphs must be connected does not allow to increase the upper bound.
On the $Δ$-edge stability number of graphs

The $Δ$-edge stability number ${\rm es}_Δ(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the minimum number of edges of $G$ whose removal results in a subgraph $H$ with $Δ(H) = Δ(G)-1$. Sets whose removal results in a subgraph with smaller maximum degree are called mitigating sets. It is proved that there always exists a mitigating set which induces a disjoint union of paths of order $2$ or $3$. Minimum mitigating sets which induce matchings are characterized. It is proved that to obtain an upper bound of the form ${\rm es}_Δ(G) \leq c |V(G)|$ for an arbitrary graph $G$ of given maximum degree $Δ$, where $c$ is a given constant, it suffices to prove the bound for $Δ$-regular graphs. Sharp upper bounds of this form are derived for regular graphs. It is proved that if $Δ(G) \geq\frac{|V(G)|-2}{3}$ or the induced subgraph on maximum degree vertices has a $Δ(G)$-edge coloring, then ${\rm es}_Δ(G) \le \lceil |V(G)|/2\rceil$.

Let $\F$ be a family of $n$ pairwise intersecting circles in the plane. We show that the number of lenses, that is convex digons, in the arrangement induced by $\F$ is at most $2n-2$. This bound is tight. Furthermore, if no two circles in $\F$ touch, then the geometric graph $G$ on the set of centers of the circles in $\F$ whose edges correspond to the lenses generated by $\F$ does not contain pairs of avoiding edges. That is, $G$ does not contain pairs of edges that are opposite edges in a convex quadrilateral. Such graphs are known to have at most $2n-2$ edges.
Some Results on Critical ($P_5,H$)-free Graphs

Given two graphs $H_1$ and $H_2$, a graph is $(H_1,H_2)$-free if it contains no induced subgraph isomorphic to $H_1$ nor $H_2$. A graph $G$ is $k$-vertex-critical if every proper induced subgraph of $G$ has chromatic number less than $k$, but $G$ has chromatic number $k$. The study of $k$-vertex-critical graphs for specific graph classes is an important topic in algorithmic graph theory because if the number of such graphs that are in a given hereditary graph class is finite, then there exists a polynomial-time certifying algorithm to decide the $k$-colorability of a graph in the class. In this paper, we show that: (1) for $k \ge 1$, there are finitely many $k$-vertex-critical $(P_5,K_{1,4}+P_1)$-free graphs; (2) for $s \ge 1$, there are finitely many 5-vertex-critical $(P_5,K_{1,s}+P_1)$-free graphs; (3) for $k \ge 1$, there are finitely many $k$-vertex-critical $(P_5,\overline{K_3+2P_1})$-free graphs. Moreover, we characterize all $5$-vertex-critical $(P_5,H)$-free graphs where $H \in \{K_{1,3}+P_1,K_{1,4}+P_1,\overline{K_3+2P_1}\}$ using an exhaustive graph generation algorithm.
Path eccentricity of $k$-AT-free graphs and application on graphs with the consecutive ones property

The central path problem is a variation on the single facility location problem. The aim is to find, in a given connected graph $G$, a path $P$ minimizing its eccentricity, which is the maximal distance from $P$ to any vertex of the graph $G$. The path eccentricity of $G$ is the minimal eccentricity achievable over all paths in $G$. In this article we consider the path eccentricity of the class of the $k$-AT-free graphs. They are graphs in which any set of three vertices contains a pair for which every path between them uses at least one vertex of the closed neighborhood at distance $k$ of the third. We prove that they have path eccentricity bounded by $k$.
Moreover, we answer a question of Gómez and Gutiérrez asking if there is a relation between path eccentricity and the consecutive ones property. The latter is the property for a binary matrix to admit a permutation of the rows placing the 1's consecutively on the columns. It was already known that graphs whose adjacency matrices have the consecutive ones property have path eccentricity at most 1, and that the same remains true when the augmented adjacency matrices (with ones on the diagonal) has the consecutive ones property. We generalize these results as follow. We study graphs whose adjacency matrices can be made to satisfy the consecutive ones property after changing some values on the diagonal, and show that those graphs have path eccentricity at most 2, by showing that they are 2-AT-free.
A conditional lower bound for the Turán number of spheres

We consider the hypergraph Turán problem of determining $\mathrm{ex}(n, S^d)$, the maximum number of facets in a $d$-dimensional simplicial complex on $n$ vertices that does not contain a simplicial $d$-sphere (a homeomorph of $S^d$) as a subcomplex. We show that if there is an affirmative answer to a question of Gromov about sphere enumeration in high dimensions, then $\mathrm{ex}(n, S^d) \geq Ω(n^{d + 1 - (d + 1)/(2^{d + 1} - 2)})$. Furthermore, this lower bound holds unconditionally for 2-LC spheres, which includes all shellable spheres and therefore all polytopes. We also prove an upper bound on $\mathrm{ex}(n, S^d)$ of $O(n^{d + 1 - 1/2^{d - 1}})$ using a simple induction argument. We conjecture that the upper bound can be improved to match the conditional lower bound.
