A Littlewood-type identity for Robbins polynomials
We provide a generalization of the Littlewood identity, both sides of which are related to alternating sign matrices. The classical Littlewood identity establishes a nice product formula for the sum of all Schur polynomials. Compared to the classical identity, Schur polynomials are replaced by so-called modified Robbins polynomials. These polynomials are a generalization of Schur polynomials and enumerate down-arrowed monotone triangles, and thus also alternating sign matrices. As an additional factor on the other side of the identity, we have a Pfaffian formula which we interpret in terms of the partition function of six-vertex model configurations corresponding to diagonally symmetric alternating sign matrices.
The number of monotone trapezoids with prescribed bottom row
We establish an operator formula for the number of monotone trapezoids with prescribed bottom row, generalizing alternating sign matrices. The special case of the formula for monotone triangles previously provided an alternative proof for the enumeration of alternating sign matrices and led to several results on alternating sign triangles and alternating sign trapezoids. The generalization presented in this paper reveals an additional ``hidden operator'' that is annihilated in the special case of monotone triangles, whose discovery was a major challenge.
The enumeration formula is conceptually simple: it applies, in addition to the newly discovered hidden operator, an operator ensuring row strictness to the formula for the number of Gelfand--Tsetlin trapezoids. Notably, the top row of the monotone trapezoid is not prescribed. Thus, our result involves a free boundary, which is a novel situation in this area. We also uncover an unexpected relation to the coinvariant algebra and propose a conjecture on its generalization.
A generalization of conjugation of integer partitions

We exhibit, for any positive integer parameter $s$, an involution on the set of integer partitions of $n$. These involutions show the joint symmetry of the distributions of the following two statistics. The first counts the number of parts of a partition divisible by $s$, whereas the second counts the number of cells in the Ferrers diagram of a partition whose leg length is zero and whose arm length has remainder $s-1$ when dividing by $s$. In particular, for $s=1$ this involution is just conjugation. Additionally, we provide explicit expressions for the bivariate generating functions.
Our primary motivation to construct these involutions is that we know only of two other "natural" bijections on integer partitions of a given size, one of which is the Glaisher-Franklin bijection sending the set of parts divisible by $s$, each divided by $s$, to the set of parts occurring at least $s$ times.

The skew Schur functions admit many determinantal expressions. Chief among them are the (dual) Jacobi-Trudi formula and the Lascoux-Pragacz formula, which is a skew analogue of the Giambelli identity. Comparatively, the skew characters of the symplectic and orthogonal groups, also known as the skew symplectic and orthogonal Schur functions, have received less attention in this direction. We establish analogues of the dual Jacobi-Trudi and Lascoux-Pragacz formulae for these characters. Our approach is entirely combinatorial, being based on lattice path descriptions of the tableaux models of Koike and Terada. Ordinary Jacobi-Trudi formulae are then derived in an algebraic manner from their duals.

Vertically symmetric alternating sign matrices (VSASMs) of order $2n+1$ are known to be equinumerous with lozenge tilings of a hexagon with side lengths $2n+2$, $2n$, $2n+2$, $2n$, $2n+2$, $2n$ and a central triangular hole of size $2$ that exhibit a cyclical as well as a vertical symmetry, but finding an explicit bijection proving this belongs to the most difficult problems in bijective combinatorics. Towards constructing such a bijection, we generalize the result by introducing certain natural extensions for both objects along with $n+3$ parameters and show that the multivariate generating functions with respect to these parameters coincide. This is a significant step from a constant number of equidistributed statistics to a linear number of statistics in $n$. The equinumeracy of VSASMs and the lozenge tilings is then an easy consequence of this result, which is obtained by specializing the generating functions to signed enumerations for both types of objects and then applying certain sign-reversing involutions. Another main result concerns the expansion of the multivariate generating function into symplectic characters as a sum over totally symmetric self-complementary plane partitions, which is in perfect analogy to the situation for ordinary ASMs where the Schur expansion can be written as a sum over totally symmetric plane partitions. This is exciting as it is reminiscent of the well-known Cauchy identity, and the Cauchy identity does have a bijective proof using the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence, and thus the result raises the question of whether there is a variation of the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence that does eventually lead to a bijective proof.

We construct weight-preserving bijections between column strict shifted plane partitions with one row and alternating sign trapezoids with exactly one column in the left half that sums to $1$. Amongst other things, they relate the number of $-1$s in the alternating sign trapezoids to certain elements in the column strict shifted plane partitions that generalise the notion of special parts in descending plane partitions. The advantage of these bijections is that they include configurations with $-1$s, which is a feature that many of the bijections in the realm of alternating sign arrays lack.

Alternating sign trapezoids have recently been introduced as a generalisation of alternating sign triangles. Fischer established a threefold refined enumeration of alternating sign trapezoids and provided three statistics on column strict shifted plane partitions with the same joint distribution. In this paper, we are able to add a new pair of statistics to these results. More precisely, we consider the number of $-1$s on alternating sign trapezoids and introduce a corresponding statistic on column strict shifted plane partitions that has the same distribution. More generally, we show that the joint distributions of the two quadruples of statistics on alternating sign trapezoids and column strict shifted plane partitions, respectively, coincide. In addition, we provide a closed-form expression for the $2$-enumeration of alternating sign trapezoids.

Halved monotone triangles are a generalisation of vertically symmetric alternating sign matrices (VSASMs). We provide a weighted enumeration of halved monotone triangles with respect to a parameter which generalises the number of $-1$s in a VSASM. Among other things, this enables us to establish a generating function for vertically symmetric alternating sign trapezoids. Our results are mainly presented in terms of constant term expressions. For the proofs, we exploit Fischer's method of operator formulae as a key tool.
