Borsuk-Ulam type theorem for the orthogonal group and orthogonal four-partitions
Given a finite Borel measure $μ$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$, when can one find $d$ mutually orthogonal hyperplanes such that \emph{every pair} of them cuts $μ$ into four equal parts? Makeev [2] stated this result and outlined a proof strategy, but the key steps were left incomplete. We give the first complete proof. The key step is a Borsuk--Ulam-type theorem for the orthogonal group~$O(k)$: every continuous equivariant map from~$O(k)$ to a certain representation of the hyperoctahedral group~$B_k$ must vanish somewhere. We construct an explicit model map whose zero set consists of exactly one free $B_k$-orbit --- the set of all signed eigenbases of a fixed generic self-adjoint operator~$A$ --- verify nondegeneracy by an explicit derivative calculation, and conclude by the equivariant degree principle. The proof requires only linear algebra and elementary topology. The four-partition theorem follows immediately: the orthogonal hyperplanes are encoded as a frame in $O(d)$, and the equivariant map records the imbalance of $μ$ across each pair of hyperplanes. A zero of this map is the desired configuration. The result is a special case of a general zero theorem for Stiefel manifolds proved in [5] by different methods.

From Nilspace Theory to Simplicial Homotopy Theory
We construct a faithful functor from the category of cubespaces, arising in structured ergodic theory and nilspace theory, to the category of (condensed) simplicial sets. This functor translates the weak structure theorem of a nilspace to a Postnikov tower of the corresponding simplicial set. In particular, nilspaces are mapped to Kan complexes and the structure groups of the nilspace correspond to the simplicial homotopy groups of the Kan complex. The functor is constructed via pullback along a special cosimplicial cubical set, whose combinatorial properties may be of independent interest.

Complexes of strong discrete Morse matchings
Using the strong discrete Morse theory developed by Fernández, we define the complex $\mathcal{SM}(K)$ of strong discrete Morse matchings on a simplicial complex $K$, as well as the pure subcomplex $\mathcal{SM}_{pure}(K)$ generated by the facets in $\mathcal{SM}(K)$ of maximal dimension. For most complexes $K$ these objects are proper subcomplexes of the complexes ${\mathfrak M}(K)$ and ${\mathfrak M}_{\textrm{pure}}(K)$ defined by Chari--Joswig using all Morse matchings on $K$. The homotopy types of the latter are not well-understood in general, but they are known when $K$ is the path $P_n$ with $n$ edges, the cycle $C_n$ with $n$ edges, the star $S_n$ with $n$ leaves, the $n$-simplex $Δ^n$ ($n\le 3$), and the boundary $\partialΔ^n$ ($n\le 3$). in this paper we compute the homotopy types of $\mathcal{SM}_{pure}(C_n)$ and $\mathcal{SM}(K)$ for $K=P_n,S_n,Δ^n,\partialΔ^n$ for all $n$. We also compute the homology of $\mathcal{SM}(C_n)$ for $n\le 21$.

Universality in the algebra and topology of cographs
A finite simple graph $G$ is called a cograph if it does not contain the path on four vertices $P_4$ as an induced subgraph. It is classically known that the family of cographs are well-quasi-ordered by the induced subgraph relation \cite{D}. In preceding work of Knudsen and the third author \cite[Theorem 7.2]{KR}, it was shown that this well-quasi-order statement admitted a categorification, which allowed those authors to prove universal finite generation statements about the homology groups of configuration spaces on cographs \cite[Theorem 1.5]{KR}. In this work, we expand \cite[Theorem 7.2]{KR} to be compatible with the family of polynomial rings on the vertex sets of cographs. By consequence, we are able to prove a number of universality results related with edge and toric ideals of these polynomial ring, partially generalizing and expanding upon work of Kahle \cite{kahle2019binomial}. We also conclude strong restrictions on the kinds of topologies that can arise from graph complexes and anchored configuration spaces associated to cographs, as well as combinatorial constraints on the possible combinatorics of hyperplane arrangements of cographs.

Poincare Polynomials of Heavy-Light Hassett Spaces
The Poincaré polynomials of the Deligne-Mumford space $\overline{M_{0,n}}$ of stable genus 0 curves have been widely studied by several authors such as Keel and Manin. These polynomials can be computed via a recursive formula that is combinatorial in nature, and their exponential generating functions satisfy elegant functional and differential equations. In this paper, we state some combinatorial formulas to the Poincaré polynomials of Hassett's heavy-light moduli spaces $\overline{M_{0,w_{m,n}}}$, with $m$ heavy marked points and $n-m$ light marked points. We express the Poincaré polynomials recursively in terms of the Möbius function of a certain lattice of set partitions. In the case of $m=2$, we get a Losev-Manin space. We give an explicit formula for the Poincaré polynomial or $\overline{M_{0,w_{2,n}}}$ by counting ordered set partitions; and give a recursive formula for this polynomial similar to that in the setting of $\overline{M_{0,n}}$. We prove this recursive formula using geometric and topological properties of the stratification of Losev-Manin spaces; and use an exponential generating function to simplify this recursive formula. Finally, we give a remarkable generalization to the ordered Bell numbers and a recurrence relation for this generalization.

Koszul Orlik--Solomon Algebras from Non-supersolvable Arrangements
The cohomology ring of the complement of a complex hyperplane arrangement is given by its Orlik--Solomon algebra. It is known that the defining ideal of the Orlik--Solomon algebra has a quadratic Gröbner basis in the standard presentation if and only if the intersection lattice is supersolvable; such algebras are automatically Koszul. In 1997, Shelton and Yuzvinsky posed the question as to whether all Koszul Orlik--Solomon algebras arise from supersolvable arrangements. We answer this question negatively using three related constructions that produce non-supersolvable arrangements whose Orlik--Solomon algebras are Koszul. Moreover, these arrangements may be chosen to be irreducible, realizable over $\mathbb{Q}$, and of any rank $\geq 3$. Our constructions rely on a result of Falk and Proudfoot which we strengthen and generalize. In two of the three cases, we show non-supersolvability using a corrected form of a result of Ziegler regarding supersolvability of parallel connections. We also construct Koszul Orlik--Terao algebras coming from non-supersolvable arrangements.

Coxeter Descents and Parabolic Homotopy Colimits: A Hochster-type decomposition and integral Morse reduction
Let $(W,S)$ be a finite Coxeter system and let $\mathcal K\subseteq 2^S$ be a simplicial complex. We define a parabolic bar complex ${\mathcal B}_{\mathcal K}(W)$ and prove a decomposition indexed by $w\in W$ in which the $w$-summand is a relative order-complex chain complex determined by the right descent set ${\operatorname{Des}_{R}}(w)$. An explicit integral Morse reduction identifies this summand, up to the Schubert shift $2\ell(w)+1$, with the augmented chains of the induced subcomplex $\mathcal K_{{\operatorname{Des}_{R}}(w)}$. For Weyl groups the complex is the cellular chain complex of \[ {X_{\mathcal K}}(G)={\operatorname*{hocolim}}_{I\in\mathcal K} G/G_I, \] so its homology is a descent-weighted Hochster decomposition. We prove functoriality and a homotopy-detection theorem for inclusions of indexing complexes, an Alexander-duality symmetry for generalized homology spheres, and, for simple $G$, a rigidity theorem characterizing the boundary simplex among the homology-sphere members of the family. For $G=(SU(2))^r$ the construction agrees up to homotopy with $(D^3,S^2)^{\mathcal K}$, and matroid independence complexes give a Tutte-polynomial specialization. The boundary-simplex case recovers the two-generator integral Morse model of the unit adjoint sphere.
Efficient Polynomial-Time Decoding of Simplicial Anticodes with Near-Optimal Performance
In this work, we propose an efficient decoding algorithm for codes arising from simplicial complexes, a family of binary linear codes for which no decoding method of this type was previously known. Although the algorithm does not always attain the maximum theoretical error-correcting capability, it provides an explicit bound that can be computed directly from the structure of the complex. Moreover, this bound is asymptotically optimal: the ratio between the guaranteed correcting capability and the theoretical maximum converges to $1$ as the code length increases, under natural assumptions on the dimension of the maximal faces. The correction capability is also presented in specific examples. Finally, we introduce specific families of simplicial complexes where the algorithm successfully reaches this theoretical bound.
On orientability, Poincaré duality, and connectivity of GKM graphs
We investigate a combinatorial notion of orientability for abstract GKM graphs and its connections to graph cohomology in the sense of Guillemin--Zara. In particular, we prove that orientability of the GKM graph is equivalent to Poincaré duality of the rational (non-equivariant) graph cohomology algebra. As an application, we prove that orientable GKM graphs remain connected after removing any single vertex.
Lunar Generalizations of the Euclidean Minimum Spanning Tree in the Plane and their Expected Costs
Motivated by the recent introduction of chromatic persistent homology, we generalize the Euclidean minimum spanning tree (EMST) for $n$ points in $\mathbb{R}^2$ to the lunar EMST for the case in which the points come in $s+1$ colors. Calling the intersection of $s+1$ disks of radius $r$ centered at points with pairwise different colors a \emph{lune}, the generalized EMST reflects the history of the union of lunes as $r$ goes from $0$ to $\infty$, and its \emph{cost} is twice the difference between the radii when the arcs and nodes of the tree are formed. If the points are chosen uniformly at random in $[0,1]^2$ and colored randomly, the expected cost converges to some constant (that depends on $s$) times $\sqrt{n}$, as $n$ goes to infinity. The main contribution of this paper is a proof that this constant exists, however similar to the case of the classic EMST, its precise value remains elusive.

Mod 2 magnitude cohomology ring of real hyperplane arrangements
Let $\mathcal{A}$ be a finite central real hyperplane arrangement and let $\mathcal{G}(\mathcal{A})$ be its tope graph. Koizumi recently proved that the crossing-graded magnitude homology of $\mathcal{G}(\mathcal{A})$ is torsion-free and is freely indexed by face flags. We refine his result by proving that a fixed crossing vector and terminal chamber determine a summand of rank at most one. Over $\mathbb{F}_2$, we use the canonical cohomology basis to determine the crossing-graded magnitude cohomology ring of $\mathcal{G}(\mathcal{A})$.

A Sharp Curvature Threshold for GLMY Path Homology
Let $G$ be a finite simple graph with at least one edge. We prove the sharp vanishing theorem \[ κ_{\min}^{\mathrm{LLY}}(G)>\frac12 \quad\Longrightarrow\quad \PathH_1(G;\R)=0. \] Equivalently, nonzero first GLMY path homology forces an edge of Lin--Lu--Yau curvature at most $1/2$. The threshold $1/2$ is sharp and is attained by $C_5$. The proof combines the cycle-space description of first GLMY path homology with the limit-free Laplacian characterization of Lin--Lu--Yau curvature. As a secondary consequence of the curvature-preserving universal-cover method, we prove that if $G$ is connected and $κ_{\min}^{\mathrm{LLY}}(G)>0$, then $π_1(\Xshort{5}(G),o)$ is finite, where $\Xshort{5}(G)$ is obtained by filling every simple cycle of length at most five. Equivalently, the normal subgroup generated by based simple $5$-cycle loops has finite index in $π_1^{\mathrm{GLMY}}(G,o)$. In higher degrees the situation is different: for each integer $r\geq1$, the Cartesian product $T_r=C_5^{\square r}$ has curvature $1/(2r)$ on every edge and, for every field $\F$, \[ \PathH_p(T_r;\F)\cong\F^{\binom rp}\qquad(0\leq p\leq r), \] so strict positivity of Lin--Lu--Yau curvature does not force higher-dimensional GLMY path homology to vanish.

The Orlik--Solomon algebra of a locally geometric poset and cohomology of complex abelian arrangements
We construct an Orlik--Solomon algebra for any locally geometric poset as a natural generalization of the one for geometric lattices. This algebra has several interesting features, including a combinatorial no-broken-circuit vector space basis that we obtain through Gröbner basis theory. When the poset captures the intersection data of an arrangement of certain subgroups in a complex abelian Lie group, we infuse the Orlik--Solomon algebra with topological information to compute the rational cohomology of the arrangement complement. In particular, when the Lie group is compact, we present an explicit differential graded algebra whose cohomology is the rational cohomology of the arrangement complement.

Meet obstructions and saturation for the constant window convolution on graded posets
Let $\mathsf{P}$ be a finite graded poset and $Δ_a^{\mathsf{P}}$ the height-$a$ thickening of its diagonal. We study the \emph{window convolution} $C_a=q_{1\sharp}(k_{Δ_a^{\mathsf{P}}}\otimes^{\mathbf L}q_2^\ast(-))$ on $\mathrm{Shv}(\mathsf{P};k)$. An interleaving distance needs the left derived $\mathbb{L}C_a$ to compose as a flow, $\mathbb{L}C_a\mathbb{L}C_b\simeq\mathbb{L}C_{a+b}$; the total meet functor $Φ$ gives rise to the canonical comparison. Finality is sufficient, and necessary where the finality defect of $Φ$ is essential; where $Φ$ is total at a minimal apex with unit windows, it is the failure of a length-two interval to have a single interior element. The flow fails at every branching length-two interval, and with it on the face poset of every finite regular cell complex of dimension $\ge2$. It survives on tame posets, where $\mathrm{id}\Rightarrow\mathbb{L}C_a$ gives a canonical extended interleaving pseudometric on $\operatorname{D^{b}}(\mathrm{Shv}(\mathsf{P};k))$; in the saturation cases computed here it takes no finite value above the length of $\mathsf{P}$, and is finite if and only if the derived colimits agree.

Cohomology for solutions of polygon equations
Polygon equations form a family of equations generalizing the pentagon equation. In this paper, we construct semi-simplicial sets of permitted colorings associated with set-theoretic solutions of polygon equations and use them to define the corresponding (co)homology groups. We investigate several properties of these groups and establish an equivalence of categories between set-theoretic solutions of polygon equations and higher Segal semi-simplicial sets satisfying certain conditions. As a special case, our result recovers the correspondence between bijective set-theoretic solutions of the pentagon equation and $2$-Segal semi-simplicial sets proved by Dyckerhoff--Kapranov.

Topology of medial regime random simplicial complexes
We analyse topology of random simplicial complexes in the medial regime. We show that these complexes are highly connected and have homotopy type of iterated suspensions. One of our main tools is a new combinatorial criterion for high connectivity of simplicial complexes, which is more flexible than conicity. We show that topological complexity of random simplical complexes in the medial regime is bounded above by 2 and it equals 2 for a class of homogenous medial regime random simplicial complexes, a.a.s.

Bond thickenings of the simplicial boundary of Outer space
We study the simplicial boundary $\partial\mathcal{FS}$ of Culler-Vogtmann Outer space via thickenings defined by graph-theoretic connectivity. Let $C'$ be the subcomplex of the free splitting complex obtained from $\partial\mathcal{FS}$ by adding all stable graphs that are not $3$-edge connected, together with their faces. We prove that the inclusion $\partial\mathcal{FS}\hookrightarrow C'$ is $(2n-3)$-connected. The proof shows, more precisely, that adding graphs with cut vertices is a homotopy equivalence, while the only non-contractible fibres in the $2$-bond thickening occur over $θ$-graphs. The result gives further evidence that $\partial\mathcal{FS}$ may be $(2n-3)$-spherical, an $\operatorname{Out}(F_n)$-analogue of Rognes's connectivity conjecture for the common basis complex. It also gives a topological, universal-cover perspective that unifies several existing results about the commutative graph complex.

Discrete homology computations by reduction to zero differentials
We develop a new algorithm for computing (persistent) discrete homology of graphs using reduction to zero differentials and active enumeration. This allows us to compute the fourth homology group of the Greene sphere, along with several previously unknown groups. We also show that persistent discrete homology computes faster than simplicial homology of Vietoris-Rips complex in the high-noise non-metric settings, making it a better choice for noisy data sets.

Topological Tverberg theorems for products of polytopes
The topological Tverberg theorem asserts that if $r$ is a prime power then for any continuous map $f\colon Δ_{(r-1)(d+1)}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^d$ from the $(r-1)(d+1)$-dimensional simplex $Δ_{(r-1)(d+1)}$ to $\mathbb{R}^d$ there exist $r$ pairwise disjoint faces of the simplex whose images have non-empty $r$-fold intersection. By refinement, the same conclusion holds if the simplex is replaced by any polytope of the same dimension. While this dimension is tight for simplices, recent work of Soberón and Zerbib shows that this need not be true for polytopes in general. Here we give topological Tverberg theorems for products of simplices. Each of these improves upon the $(r-1)(d+1)$-dimensional threshold, even while imposing the structural condition that the ``Tverberg faces'' of the product are themselves the products of pairwise disjoint faces from each simplex factor. As before, refinement extends these results, and in particular their dimensional improvements, to products of arbitrary polytopes. As an example, if $d+1$ is a power of two then whenever $m\geq n\geq d+1$ and $m+n=3d+2$ we show that any continuous map $f\colon Δ_m\times Δ_n\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^d$ admits disjoint faces $σ_1,σ_2$ of $Δ_m$ and $τ_1,τ_2$ of $Δ_n$ such that $\cap_{i,j\in[2]} f(σ_i\timesτ_j)\neq \emptyset$. In the case of multilinear maps, our results imply partitions of grid-indexed point sets in $\mathbb{R}^d$ by specialized subsets with stronger intersection conclusions than given by Tverberg's original theorem. Lastly, we extend our results to van Kampen--Flores type theorems which impose dimensional restrictions on the faces of each product factor.
