Fault-tolerance of balanced hypercubes with faulty vertices and faulty edges
Let $F_{v}$ (resp. $F_e$) be the set of faulty vertices (resp. faulty edges) in the $n$-dimensional balanced hypercube $BH_n$. Fault-tolerant Hamiltonian laceability in $BH_n$ with at most $2n-2$ faulty edges is obtained in [Inform. Sci. 300 (2015) 20--27]. The existence of edge-Hamiltonian cycles in $BH_n-F_e$ for $|F_e|\leq 2n-2$ are gotten in [Appl. Math. Comput. 244 (2014) 447--456]. Up to now, almost all results about fault-tolerance in $BH_n$ with only faulty vertices or only faulty edges. In this paper, we consider fault-tolerant cycle embedding of $BH_n$ with both faulty vertices and faulty edges, and prove that there exists a fault-free cycle of length $2^{2n}-2|F_v|$ in $BH_n$ with $|F_v|+|F_e|\leq 2n-2$ and $|F_v|\leq n-1$ for $n\geq 2$. Since $BH_n$ is a bipartite graph with two partite sets of equal size, the cycle of a length $2^{2n}-2|F_v|$ is the longest in the worst-case.

A coprime labeling of a simple graph of order $n$ is a labeling in which adjacent vertices are given relatively prime labels, and a graph is prime if the labels used can be taken to be the first $n$ positive integers. In this paper, we consider when ladder graphs are prime and when the corresponding labeling may be done in a cyclic manner around the vertices of the ladder. Furthermore, we discuss coprime labelings for complete bipartite graphs.

When $\mathcal{C}$ is a chordal clutter in the sense of Woodroofe or Emtander, we show that the complement clutter is edgewise strongly shellable. When $\mathcal{C}$ is indeed a finite simple graph, we study various characterizations of chordal graphs from the point of view of strong shellability. In particular, the generic graph $G_T$ of a tree is shown to be bi-strongly shellable. We also characterize edgewise strongly shellable bipartite graphs in terms of constructions from upward sequences. \end{abstract}
Canonical binary matrices related to bipartite graphs
The current paper is dedicated to the problem of finding the number of mutually non isomorphic bipartite graphs of the type $g=\langle R_g ,C_g ,E_g \rangle$ at given $n=|R_g |$ and $m=|C_g |$, where $R_g$ and $C_g$ are the two disjoint parts of the vertices of the graphs $g$, and $E_g$ is the set of edges, $Eg \subseteq R_g \times C_g$. For this purpose, the concept of canonical binary matrix is introduced. The different canonical matrices unambiguously describe the different with exactness up to isomorphism bipartite graphs. We have found a necessary and sufficient condition an arbitrary matrix to be canonical. This condition could be the base for realizing recursive algorithm for finding all $n \times m$ canonical binary matrices and consequently for finding all with exactness up to isomorphism binary matrices with cardinality of each part equal to $n$ and $m$.
On the bipartite graph packing problem
The graph packing problem is a well-known area in graph theory. We consider a bipartite version and give almost tight conditions on the packability of two bipartite sequences.

Let $G$ be a graph with $n$ vertices and $S=\mathbb{K}[x_1,\dots,x_n]$ be the polynomial ring in $n$ variables over a field $\mathbb{K}$. Assume that $J(G)$ is the cover ideal of $G$ and $J(G)^{(k)}$ is its $k$-th symbolic power. We prove that if $G$ is a very well-covered graph such that $J(G)$ has linear resolution, then $J(G)^{(k)}$ has linear resolution, for every integer $k\geq 1$. We also prove that for a every very well-covered graph $G$, the depth of symbolic powers of $J(G)$ forms a non-increasing sequence. Finally, we determine a linear upper bound for the regularity of powers of cover ideal of bipartite graph.

Let $\mathbb{K}$ be a field and $S=\mathbb{K}[x_1,\dots,x_n]$ be the polynomial ring in $n$ variables over $\mathbb{K}$. Let $G$ be a graph with $n$ vertices. Assume that $I=I(G)$ is the edge ideal of $G$ and $J=J(G)$ is its cover ideal. We prove that ${\rm sdepth}(J)\geq n-ν_{o}(G)$ and ${\rm sdepth}(S/J)\geq n-ν_{o}(G)-1$, where $ν_{o}(G)$ is the ordered matching number of $G$. We also prove the inequalities ${\rm sdepth}(J^k)\geq {\rm depth}(J^k)$ and ${\rm sdepth}(S/J^k)\geq {\rm depth}(S/J^k)$, for every integer $k\gg 0$, when $G$ is a bipartite graph. Moreover, we provide an elementary proof for the known inequality ${\rm reg}(S/I)\leq ν_{o}(G)$.

In this work, connected cubic planar bipartite graphs and related binary self-dual codes are studied. Binary self-dual codes of length 16 are obtained by face-vertex incidence matrices of these graphs. By considering their lifts to the ring R_2 new extremal binary self-dual codes of lengths 64 are constructed as Gray images. More precisely, we construct 15 new codes of length 64. Moreover, 10 new codes of length 66 were obtained by applying a building-up construction to the binary codes. Codes with these weight enumerators are constructed for the first time in the literature. The results are tabulated.

A graph is locally irregular if no two adjacent vertices have the same degree. The irregular chromatic index $χ_{\rm irr}'(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the smallest number of locally irregular subgraphs needed to edge-decompose $G$. Not all graphs have such a decomposition, but Baudon, Bensmail, Przybyło, and Woźniak conjectured that if $G$ can be decomposed into locally irregular subgraphs, then $χ_{\rm irr}'(G)\leq 3$. In support of this conjecture, Przybyło showed that $χ_{\rm irr}'(G)\leq 3$ holds whenever $G$ has minimum degree at least $10^{10}$.
Here we prove that every bipartite graph $G$ which is not an odd length path satisfies $χ_{\rm irr}'(G)\leq 10$. This is the first general constant upper bound on the irregular chromatic index of bipartite graphs. Combining this result with Przybyło's result, we show that $χ_{\rm irr}'(G) \leq 328$ for every graph $G$ which admits a decomposition into locally irregular subgraphs. Finally, we show that $χ_{\rm irr}'(G)\leq 2$ for every $16$-edge-connected bipartite graph $G$.
Complexity of equitable tree-coloring problems
A $(q,t)$\emph{-tree-coloring} of a graph $G$ is a $q$-coloring of vertices of $G$ such that the subgraph induced by each color class is a forest of maximum degree at most $t.$ A $(q,\infty)$\emph{-tree-coloring} of a graph $G$ is a $q$-coloring of vertices of $G$ such that the subgraph induced by each color class is a forest.
Wu, Zhang, and Li introduced the concept of \emph{equitable $(q, t)$-tree-coloring} (respectively, \emph{equitable $(q, \infty)$-tree-coloring}) which is a $(q,t)$-tree-coloring (respectively, $(q, \infty)$-tree-coloring) such that the sizes of any two color classes differ by at most one. Among other results, they obtained a sharp upper bound on the minimum $p$ such that $K_{n,n}$ has an equitable $(q, 1)$-tree-coloring for every $q\geq p.$
In this paper, we obtain a polynomial time criterion to decide if a complete bipartite graph has an equitable $(q,t)$-tree-coloring or an equitable $(q,\infty)$-tree-coloring. Nevertheless, deciding if a graph $G$ in general has an equitable $(q,t)$-tree-coloring or an equitable $(q,\infty)$-tree-coloring is NP-complete.
Hereditary Konig Egervary Collections
Let $G$ be a simple graph with vertex set $V(G)$. A subset $S$ of $V(G)$ is independent if no two vertices from $S$ are adjacent. The graph $G$ is known to be a Konig-Egervary (KE in short) graph if $α(G) + μ(G)= |V(G)|$, where $α(G)$ denotes the size of a maximum independent set and $μ(G)$ is the cardinality of a maximum matching. Let $Ω(G)$ denote the family of all maximum independent sets. A collection $F$ of sets is an hke collection if $|\bigcup Γ|+|\bigcap Γ|=2α$ holds for every subcollection $Γ$ of $F$. We characterize an hke collection and invoke new characterizations of a KE graph. We prove the existence and uniqueness of a graph $G$ such that $Ω(G)$ is a maximal hke collection. It is a bipartite graph. As a result, we solve a problem of Jarden, Levit and Mandrescu \cite{jlm}, proving that $F$ is an hke collection if and only if it is a subset of $Ω(G)$ for some graph $G$ and $|\bigcup F|+|\bigcap F|=2α(F)$. Finally, we show that the maximal cardinality of an hke collection $F$ with $α(F)=α$ and $|\bigcup F|=n$ is $2^{n-α}$.

A bipartite graph $G=(L,R;E)$ with at least one edge is said to be identifiable if for every vertex $v\in L$, the subgraph induced by its non-neighbors has a matching of cardinality $|L|-1$. An $\ell$-subgraph of $G$ is an induced subgraph of $G$ obtained by deleting from it some vertices in $L$ together with all their neighbors. The Identifiable Subgraph problem is the problem of determining whether a given bipartite graph contains an identifiable $\ell$-subgraph.
We show that the Identifiable Subgraph problem is polynomially solvable, along with the version of the problem in which the task is to delete as few vertices from $L$ as possible together with all their neighbors so that the resulting $\ell$-subgraph is identifiable. We also complement a known APX-hardness result for the complementary problem in which the task is to minimize the number of remaining vertices in $L$, by showing that two parameterized variants of the problem are W[1]-hard.
Sidorenko's conjecture, colorings and independent sets
Let $\hom(H,G)$ denote the number of homomorphisms from a graph $H$ to a graph $G$. Sidorenko's conjecture asserts that for any bipartite graph $H$, and a graph $G$ we have $$\hom(H,G)\geq v(G)^{v(H)}\left(\frac{\hom(K_2,G)}{v(G)^2}\right)^{e(H)},$$ where $v(H),v(G)$ and $e(H),e(G)$ denote the number of vertices and edges of the graph $H$ and $G$, respectively. In this paper we prove Sidorenko's conjecture for certain special graphs $G$: for the complete graph $K_q$ on $q$ vertices, for a $K_2$ with a loop added at one of the end vertices, and for a path on $3$ vertices with a loop added at each vertex. These cases correspond to counting colorings, independent sets and Widom-Rowlinson colorings of a graph $H$. For instance, for a bipartite graph $H$ the number of $q$-colorings $\textrm{ch}(H,q)$ satisfies $$\textrm{ch}(H,q)\geq q^{v(H)}\left(\frac{q-1}{q}\right)^{e(H)}.$$ In fact, we will prove that in the last two cases (independent sets and Widom-Rowlinson colorings) the graph $H$ does not need to be bipartite. In all cases, we first prove a certain correlation inequality which implies Sidorenko's conjecture in a stronger form.
On forbidden induced subgraphs for unit disk graphs

A unit disk graph is the intersection graph of disks of equal radii in the plane. The class of unit disk graphs is hereditary, and therefore admits a characterization in terms of minimal forbidden induced subgraphs. In spite of quite active study of unit disk graphs very little is known about minimal forbidden induced subgraphs for this class. We found only finitely many minimal non unit disk graphs in the literature. In this paper we study in a systematic way forbidden induced subgraphs for the class of unit disk graphs. We develop several structural and geometrical tools, and use them to reveal infinitely many new minimal non unit disk graphs. Further we use these results to investigate structure of co-bipartite unit disk graphs. In particular, we give structural characterization of those co-bipartite unit disk graphs whose edges between parts form a C4-free bipartite graph, and show that bipartite complements of these graphs are also unit disk graphs. Our results lead us to propose a conjecture that the class of co-bipartite unit disk graphs is closed under bipartite complementation.

We estimate Ramsey numbers for bipartite graphs with small bandwidth and bounded maximum degree. In particular we determine asymptotically the two and three color Ramsey numbers for grid graphs. More generally, we determine asymptotically the two color Ramsey number for bipartite graphs with small bandwidth and bounded maximum degree and the three color Ramsey number for such graphs with the additional assumption that the bipartite graph is balanced.
A Simple Condition for the Existence of Transversals
Hall's Theorem is a basic result in Combinatorics which states that the obvious necesssary condition for a finite family of sets to have a transversal is also sufficient. We present a sufficient (but not necessary) condition on the sizes of the sets in the family and the sizes of their intersections so that a transversal exists. Using this, we prove that in a bipartite graph $G$ (bipartition $\{A, B\}$), without 4-cycles, if $°(v) \geq \sqrt{2e|A|}$ for all $v \in A$, then $G$ has a matching of size $|A|$.
On the difference between the Szeged and Wiener index

We prove a conjecture of Nadjafi-Arani, Khodashenas and Ashrafi on the difference between the Szeged and Wiener index of a graph. Namely, if $G$ is a 2-connected non-complete graph on $n$ vertices, then $Sz(G)-W(G)\ge 2n-6$. Furthermore, the equality is obtained if and only if $G$ is the complete graph $K_{n-1}$ with an extra vertex attached to either $2$ or $n-2$ vertices of $K_{n-1}$. We apply our method to strengthen some known results on the difference between the Szeged and Wiener index of bipartite graphs, graphs of girth at least five, and the difference between the revised Szeged and Wiener index. We also propose a stronger version of the aforementioned conjecture.

Let G be a connected bipartite graph with color classes E and V and root polytope Q. Regarding the hypergraph (V,E) induced by G, we prove that its interior polynomial is equivalent to the Ehrhart polynomial of Q, which in turn is equivalent to the h-vector of any triangulation of Q. It follows that the interior polynomials of (V,E) and its transpose (E,V) agree.
When G is a complete bipartite graph, our result recovers a well known hypergeometric identity due to Saalschütz. It also implies that certain extremal coefficients in the Homfly polynomial of a special alternating link can be read off of an associated Floer homology group.

We consider a bipartite version of the color degree matrix problem. A bipartite graph $G(U,V,E)$ is half-regular if all vertices in $U$ have the same degree. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for a bipartite degree matrix (also known as demand matrix) to be the color degree matrix of an edge-disjoint union of half-regular graphs. We also give necessary and sufficient perturbations to transform realizations of a half-regular degree matrix into each other. Based on these perturbations, a Markov chain Monte Carlo method is designed in which the inverse of the acceptance ratios are polynomial bounded.
Realizations of a half-regular degree matrix are generalizations of Latin squares, and they also appear in applied neuroscience.
A complexity trichotomy for approximately counting list H-colourings

We examine the computational complexity of approximately counting the list H-colourings of a graph. We discover a natural graph-theoretic trichotomy based on the structure of the graph H. If H is an irreflexive bipartite graph or a reflexive complete graph then counting list H-colourings is trivially in polynomial time. Otherwise, if H is an irreflexive bipartite permutation graph or a reflexive proper interval graph then approximately counting list H-colourings is equivalent to #BIS, the problem of approximately counting independent sets in a bipartite graph. This is a well-studied problem which is believed to be of intermediate complexity -- it is believed that it does not have an FPRAS, but that it is not as difficult as approximating the most difficult counting problems in #P. For every other graph H, approximately counting list H-colourings is complete for #P with respect to approximation-preserving reductions (so there is no FPRAS unless NP=RP). Two pleasing features of the trichotomy are (i) it has a natural formulation in terms of hereditary graph classes, and (ii) the proof is largely self-contained and does not require any universal algebra (unlike similar dichotomies in the weighted case). We are able to extend the hardness results to the bounded-degree setting, showing that all hardness results apply to input graphs with maximum degree at most 6.
