Uniform hypergraphs have a natural one-to-one correspondence to tensors. In this paper, we investigate the Estrada index and subgraph centrality of an $m$-uniform hypergraph $\mathcal{H}$ via the adjacency tensor. We establish some bounds for the Estrada index and give expressions of the subgraph centrality in terms of graph parameters of the multi-digraphs associated with $\mathcal{H}$. When $\mathcal{H}$ is $2$-uniform, the above Estrada index and subgraph centrality are the Estrada index and subgraph centrality of a graph.
Signless Laplacian energy, Distance Laplacian Energy and Distance Signless Laplacian Spectrum of Unitary Addition Cayley Graphs
In this paper we compute bounds for signless Laplacian energy, distance signless Laplacian eigenvalues and signless Laplacian energy of unitary addition Cayley graph G_{n}. We also obtain distance Laplacian eigenvalues and distance Laplacian energy of G_{n}.

We consider the allocation of $m$ balls into $n$ bins with incomplete information. In the classical Two-Choice process a ball first queries the load of two randomly chosen bins and is then placed in the least loaded bin. In our setting, each ball also samples two random bins but can only estimate a bin's load by sending binary queries of the form "Is the load at least the median?" or "Is the load at least 100?".
For the lightly loaded case $m=O(n)$, Feldheim and Gurel-Gurevich (2021) showed that with one query it is possible to achieve a maximum load of $O(\sqrt{\log n/\log \log n})$, and posed the question whether a maximum load of $m/n+O(\sqrt{\log n/\log \log n})$ is possible for any $m = Ω(n)$. In this work, we resolve this open problem by proving a lower bound of $m/n+Ω( \sqrt{\log n})$ for a fixed $m=Θ(n \sqrt{\log n})$, and a lower bound of $m/n+Ω(\log n/\log \log n)$ for some $m$ depending on the used strategy.
We complement this negative result by proving a positive result for multiple queries. In particular, we show that with only two binary queries per chosen bin, there is an oblivious strategy which ensures a maximum load of $m/n+O(\sqrt{\log n})$ for any $m \geq 1$. Further, for any number of $k = O(\log \log n)$ binary queries, the upper bound on the maximum load improves to $m/n + O(k(\log n)^{1/k})$ for any $m \geq 1$.
Further, this result for $k$ queries implies (i) new bounds for the $(1+β)$-process introduced by Peres et al (2015), (ii) new bounds for the graphical balanced allocation process on dense expander graphs, and (iii) the bound of $m/n+O(\log \log n)$ on the maximum load achieved by the Two-Choice process, including the heavily loaded case $m=Ω(n)$ derived by Berenbrink et al. (2006). One novel aspect of our proofs is the use of multiple super-exponential potential functions, which might be of use in future work.
Quintic graphs with every edge in a triangle
We characterise the quintic (i.e. 5-regular) multigraphs with the property that every edge lies in a triangle. Such a graph is either from a set of small graphs or is formed by adding a perfect matching to a line graph of a cubic graph as double edges, or can be reduced by a sequence of operations to one of these graphs.

Let $H$ and $G$ be graphs such that $H$ has at least 3 vertices and is connected. The $H$-line graph of $G$, denoted by $HL(G)$, is that graph whose vertices are the edges of $G$ and where two vertices of $HL(G)$ are adjacent if they are adjacent in $G$ and lie in a common copy of $H$. For each nonnegative integer $k$, let $HL^{k}(G)$ denote the $k$-th iteration of the $H$-line graph of $G$. We say that the sequence $\{ HL^k(G) \}$ converges if there exists a positive integer $N$ such that $HL^k(G) \cong HL^{k+1}(G)$, and for $n \geq 3$ we set $Λ_n$ as the set of all graphs $G$ whose sequence $\{HL^k(G) \}$ converges when $H\cong P_n$. The sets $Λ_3, Λ_4$ and $Λ_5$ have been characterized. To progress towards the characterization of $Λ_n$ in general, this paper defines and studies the following property: a graph $G$ is minimally $n$-convergent if $G\in Λ_n$ but no proper subgraph of $G$ is in $Λ_n$. In addition, prove conditions that imply divergence, and use these results to develop some of the properties of minimally $n$-convergent graphs.

A magic labelling of a graph $G$ with magic sum $s$ is a labelling of the edges of $G$ by nonnegative integers such that for each vertex $v\in V$, the sum of labels of all edges incident to $v$ is equal to the same number $s$. Stanley gave remarkable results on magic labellings, but the distinct labelling case is much more complicated. We consider the complete construction of all magic labellings of a given graph $G$. The idea is illustrated in detail by dealing with three regular graphs. We give combinatorial proofs. The structure result was used to enumerate the corresponding magic distinct labellings.
Eccentricity energy change of complete multipartite graphs due to edge deletion

The eccentricity matrix $\varepsilon(G)$ of a graph $G$ is obtained from the distance matrix of $G$ by retaining the largest distances in each row and each column, and leaving zeros in the remaining ones. The eccentricity energy of $G$ is sum of the absolute values of the eigenvalues of $\varepsilon(G)$. Although the eccentricity matrices of graphs are closely related to the distance matrices of graphs, a number of properties of eccentricity matrices are substantially different from those of the distance matrices. The change in eccentricity energy of a graph due to an edge deletion is one such property. In this article, we give examples of graphs for which the eccentricity energy increase (resp., decrease) but the distance energy decrease (resp., increase) due to an edge deletion. Also, we prove that the eccentricity energy of the complete $k$-partite graph $K_{n_1,\hdots,n_k}$ with $k\geq 2$ and $ n_i\geq 2$, increases due to an edge deletion.

We uncover a connection between two seemingly unrelated notions: lettericity, from structural graph theory, and geometric griddability, from the world of permutation patterns. Both of these notions capture important structural properties of their respective classes of objects. We prove that these notions are equivalent in the sense that a permutation class is geometrically griddable if and only if the corresponding class of inversion graphs has bounded lettericity.
On a k-matching algorithm and finding k-factors in random graphs with minimum degree k+1 in linear time
We prove that for $k+1\geq 3$ and $c>(k+1)/2$ w.h.p. the random graph on $n$ vertices, $cn$ edges and minimum degree $k+1$ contains a (near) perfect $k$-matching. As an immediate consequence we get that w.h.p. the $(k+1)$-core of $G_{n,p}$, if non empty, spans a (near) spanning $k$-regular subgraph. This improves upon a result of Chan and Molloy and completely resolves a conjecture of Bollobás, Kim and Verstraëte. In addition, we show that w.h.p. such a subgraph can be found in linear time. A substantial element of the proof is the analysis of a randomized algorithm for finding $k$-matchings in random graphs with minimum degree $k+1$.
Packing Hamilton Cycles in Cores of Random Graphs
Consider the random graph process $\{G_t\}_{t\geq 0}$. For $k\geq 3$ let $G_{t}^{(k)}$ denote the $k$-core of $G_t$ and let $τ_k$ be the minimum $t$ such that the $k$-core of $G_t$ is nonempty. It is well known that w.h.p. for $G_{τ_k}^{(k)}$ has linear size while it is believed to be Hamiltonian. Bollobás, Cooper, Fenner and Frieze further conjectured that w.h.p. $G_{t}^{(k)}$ spans $\lfloor \frac{k-1}{2} \rfloor$ edge-disjoint Hamilton cycles plus, when $k$ is even, a perfect matching for $t\geq τ_k$. We prove that w.h.p.\@ if $k$ is odd then $G_{t}^{(k)}$ spans $\frac{k-3}{2}$ edge disjoint Hamilton cycles plus an additional 2-factor whereas if $k$ is even then it spans $\frac{k-2}{2}$ edge disjoint Hamilton cycles plus an additional matching of size $n/2-o(n)$ for $t\geq τ_k$. In particular w.h.p. $G_{t}^{(k)}$ is Hamiltonian for $k\geq 4$ and $t\geq τ_k$. This improves upon results of Krivelevich, Lubetzky and Sudakov.
Double domination in maximal outerplanar graphs

In a graph $G$, a vertex dominates itself and its neighbors. A subset $S\subseteq V(G)$ is said to be a double dominating set of $G$ if $S$ dominates every vertex of $G$ at least twice. The double domination number $γ_{\times 2}(G)$ is the minimum cardinality of a double dominating set of $G$. We show that if $G$ is a maximal outerplanar graph on $n\geq 3$ vertices, then $γ_{\times 2}(G)\leq \lfloor \frac{2n}{3}\rfloor$. Further, if $n\geq 4$, then $γ_{\times 2}(G)\leq \min \{\lfloor \frac{n+t}{2}\rfloor, n-t\}$, where $t$ is the number of vertices of degree $2$ in $G$. These bounds are shown to be tight. In addition, we also study the case that $G$ is a striped maximal outerplanar graph.

In 1975 Bollobás, Erd\H os, and Szemerédi asked the following question: given positive integers $n, t, r$ with $2\le t\le r-1$, what is the largest minimum degree $δ(G)$ among all $r$-partite graphs $G$ with parts of size $n$ and which do not contain a copy of $K_{t+1}$? The $r=t+1$ case has attracted a lot of attention and was fully resolved by Haxell and Szabó, and Szabó and Tardos in 2006. In this paper we investigate the $r>t+1$ case of the problem, which has remained dormant for over forty years. We resolve the problem exactly in the case when $r \equiv -1 \pmod{t}$, and up to an additive constant for many other cases, including when $r \geq (3t-1)(t-1)$. Our approach utilizes a connection to the related problem of determining the maximum of the minimum degrees among the family of balanced $r$-partite $rn$-vertex graphs of chromatic number at most $t$.

In this paper, we establish a couple of results on extremal problems in bipartite graphs. Firstly, we show that every sufficiently large bipartite graph with average degree $D$ and with $n$ vertices on each side has a balanced independent set containing $(1-ε) \frac{\log D}{D} n$ vertices from each side for small $ε> 0$. Secondly, we prove that the vertex set of every sufficiently large balanced bipartite graph with maximum degree at most $Δ$ can be partitioned into $(1+ε)\fracΔ{\log Δ}$ balanced independent sets. Both of these results are algorithmic and best possible up to a factor of 2, which might be hard to improve as evidenced by the phenomenon known as `algorithmic barrier' in the literature. The first result improves a recent theorem of Axenovich, Sereni, Snyder, and Weber in a slightly more general setting. The second result improves a theorem of Feige and Kogan about coloring balanced bipartite graphs.
On a tracial version of Haemers bound

We extend upper bounds on the quantum independence number and the quantum Shannon capacity of graphs to their counterparts in the commuting operator model. We introduce a von Neumann algebraic generalization of the fractional Haemers bound (over $\mathbb{C}$) and prove that the generalization upper bounds the commuting quantum independence number. We call our bound the tracial Haemers bound, and we prove that it is multiplicative with respect to the strong product. In particular, this makes it an upper bound on the Shannon capacity. The tracial Haemers bound is incomparable with the Lovász theta function, another well-known upper bound on the Shannon capacity. We show that separating the tracial and fractional Haemers bounds would refute Connes' embedding conjecture.
Along the way, we prove that the tracial rank and tracial Haemers bound are elements of the (commuting quantum) asymptotic spectrum of graphs (Zuiddam, Combinatorica, 2019). We also show that the inertia bound (an upper bound on the quantum independence number) upper bounds the commuting quantum independence number.

Let $P$ be a graded poset of rank $r$ and let $\mathbf{c}$ be a $c$-element chain. For an order ideal $I$ of $P \times \mathbf{c}$, its rowmotion $ψ(I)$ is the smallest ideal containing the minimal elements of the complementary filter of $I$. The map $ψ$ defines invertible dynamics on the set of ideals. We say that $P$ has NRP ("not relatively prime") rowmotion if no $ψ$-orbit has cardinality relatively prime to $r+c+1$.
In work with R. Patrias (2020), we proved a 1995 conjecture of P. Cameron and D. Fon-Der-Flaass by establishing NRP rowmotion for the product $P = \mathbf{a} \times \mathbf{b}$ of two chains, the poset whose order ideals correspond to the Schubert varieties of a Grassmann variety $\mathrm{Gr}_a(\mathbb{C}^{a+b})$ under containment. Here, we initiate the general study of posets with NRP rowmotion.
Our first main result establishes NRP rowmotion for all minuscule posets $P$, posets whose order ideals reflect the Schubert stratification of minuscule flag varieties. Our second main result is that NRP promotion depends only on the isomorphism class of the comparability graph of $P$.

The clustering property of complex networks indicates the abundance of small dense subgraphs in otherwise sparse networks.
For a community-affiliation network defined by a superposition of Bernoulli random graphs, which has a nonvanishing global clustering coefficient and a power-law degree distribution, we establish normal and $α$--stable approximations to the number of small cliques, cycles and more general $2$-connected subgraphs.

We consider the relationship between the Laplacians on two sequences of planar graphs, one from the theory of self-similar groups and one from analysis on fractals. By establishing a spectral decimation map between these sequences we give an elementary calculation of the spectrum of the former, which was first computed by Grigorchuk and Šunić. Our method also gives a full description of the eigenfunctions.

The main result provide a common generalization for Ramsey-type theorems concerning finite colorings of edge sets of complete graphs with vertices in infinite semigroups. We capture the essence of theorems proved in different fields: for natural numbers due to Milliken--Tylor, Deuber--Hindman, Bergelson--Hindman, for combinatorial covering properties due to Scheepers and Tsaban, and local properties in function spaces due to Scheepers. To this end, we use idempotent ultrafilters in the Čech--Stone compactifications of discrete infinite semigroups and topological games. The research is motivated by the recent breakthrough work of Tsaban about colorings and the Menger covering property.
Twin-width and polynomial kernels

We study the existence of polynomial kernels, for parameterized problems without a polynomial kernel on general graphs, when restricted to graphs of bounded twin-width. Our main result is that a polynomial kernel for $k$-Dominating Set on graphs of twin-width at most 4 would contradict a standard complexity-theoretic assumption. The reduction is quite involved, especially to get the twin-width upper bound down to 4, and can be tweaked to work for Connected $k$-Dominating Set and Total $k$-Dominating Set (albeit with a worse upper bound on the twin-width). The $k$-Independent Set problem admits the same lower bound by a much simpler argument, previously observed [ICALP '21], which extends to $k$-Independent Dominating Set, $k$-Path, $k$-Induced Path, $k$-Induced Matching, etc. On the positive side, we obtain a simple quadratic vertex kernel for Connected $k$-Vertex Cover and Capacitated $k$-Vertex Cover on graphs of bounded twin-width. Interestingly the kernel applies to graphs of Vapnik-Chervonenkis density 1, and does not require a witness sequence. We also present a more intricate $O(k^{1.5})$ vertex kernel for Connected $k$-Vertex Cover. Finally we show that deciding if a graph has twin-width at most 1 can be done in polynomial time, and observe that most optimization/decision graph problems can be solved in polynomial time on graphs of twin-width at most 1.
Percolation transition for random forests in $d\geq 3$

The arboreal gas is the probability measure on (unrooted spanning) forests of a graph in which each forest is weighted by a factor $β>0$ per edge. It arises as the $q\to 0$ limit of the $q$-state random cluster model with $p=βq$. We prove that in dimensions $d\geq 3$ the arboreal gas undergoes a percolation phase transition. This contrasts with the case of $d=2$ where no percolation transition occurs.
The starting point for our analysis is an exact relationship between the arboreal gas and a non-linear sigma model with target space the fermionic hyperbolic plane $\mathbb{H}^{0|2}$. This latter model can be thought of as the $0$-state Potts model, with the arboreal gas being its random cluster representation. Unlike the standard Potts models, the $\mathbb{H}^{0|2}$ model has continuous symmetries. By combining a renormalisation group analysis with Ward identities we prove that this symmetry is spontaneously broken at low temperatures. In terms of the arboreal gas, this symmetry breaking translates into the existence of infinite trees in the thermodynamic limit. Our analysis also establishes massless free field correlations at low temperatures and the existence of a macroscopic tree on finite tori.
