How Much Regularity Forces a Sequence to be Graphic?
For an integer sequence (with even sum), the closer that the sequence is to being regular, the more likely that the sequence is graphic. But how regular must a sequence be before it must always be graphic? We show that for many sequences if all values are within $\frac{n-2}{4}$ of the mean degree value, then the sequence is graphic. We also see how this result extends to show when a maximum difference between sequence values implies that a sequence is graphic.

The sequence A120986 in the Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences counts ternary trees according to the number of nodes and the number of middle edges. Using a certain substition, the underlying cubic equation can be factored. This leads to an extension of the concept of $(3/2)$-ary trees, introduced by Knuth in his christmas lecture from 2014.
Relations between the properties of a complete rooted tree and the properties of a distribution of lengths of randomly generated strings
Let's denote a complete $m$-ary rooted tree graph of height $n$ as $G$. In scope of this paper we prove the certain relations between the properties of $G$ and the expectation and variance of the distribution of lengths of strings, generated as follows: starting from an empty string we pick a random symbol from the alphabet $\{ α_1, α_2, \dots α_m \}$ and append it to the string, the process continues until we see $n$ instances of a specific symbol in a row.
Consider a random variable $ξ_{m,n}$ that represents a length of a string generated according to the described process. The expectation $\mathbb{E}[ξ_{m,n}]$ and variance $\mathrm{Var}[ξ_{m,n}]$ depend on $m$ (the size of the alphabet) and $n$ (a parameter that defines a stopping criteria of the string generation process). Also, let's denote the sum of the common path length over all 2-tuples of nodes of $G$ as $S_{m,n}$, and let's denote the total number of edges in $G$ as $T_{m,n}$. In scope of this paper we prove that the following relations are true for all $m,n \geq 1$: $\mathbb{E}[ξ_{m,n}] = T_{m,n}$ and $\mathrm{Var}[ξ_{m,n}] = (m-1) \cdot S_{m,n}$.
While it is known that both $\mathbb{E}[ξ_{2,n}]$ and $T_{2,n}$ are described by the sequence A000918 from the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (OEIS), and it is known that $S_{2,n}$ is described by the OEIS sequence A286778, we demonstrate a new interpretation for A286778: this sequence describes $\mathrm{Var}[ξ_{2,n}]$ - a variance of the number of tosses of a fair coin until we see $n$ heads in a row.
On a Central Transform of Integer Sequences
We use the concept of the half of a lower-triangular matrix to define a transformation on integer sequences. We explore the properties of this transformation, including in some cases a study of the Hankel transform of the transformed sequences. Starting from simple sequences with elementary rational generating functions, we obtain many sequences of combinatorial significance. We make extensive use of techniques drawn from the theory of Riordan arrays.

Let $\mathfrak{S}_n$ be the set of all permutations of $[n]=\{1,\ldots,n\}$ and let $W$ be the subset consisting of permutations $σ\in \mathfrak{S}_n$ avoiding 132 and 312-patterns. The monomial ideal $I_W = \left\langle \mathbf{x}^σ = \prod_{i=1}^n x_i^{σ(i)} : σ\in W \right\rangle $ in the polynomial ring $R = k[x_1,\ldots,x_n]$ over a field $k$ is called a hypercubic ideal in the article (Certain variants of multipermutohedron ideals, Proc. Indian Acad. Sci.(Math Sci. Vol. 126, No.4, (2016), 479-500). The Alexander dual $I_W^{[\mathbf{n}]}$ of $I_W$ with respect to $\mathbf{n}=(n,\ldots,n)$ has the minimal cellular resolution supported on the first barycentric subdivision $\mathbf{Bd}(Δ_{n-1})$ of an $n-1$-simplex $Δ_{n-1}$. We show that the number of standard monomials of the Artinian quotient $\frac{R}{I_W^{[\mathbf{n}]}}$ equals the number of rooted-labelled unimodal forests on the vertex set $[n]$. In other words,
\[ \dim_k\left(\frac{R}{I_W^{[\mathbf{n}]}}\right) =
\sum_{r=1}^n r!~s(n,r) = {\rm Per}\left([m_{ij}]_{n \times n} \right),\] where $s(n,r)$ is the (signless) Stirling number of the first kind and ${\rm Per}([m_{ij}]_{n \times n})$ is the permanent of the matrix $[m_{ij}]$ with $m_{ii}=i$ and $m_{ij}=1$ for $i \ne j$. For various subsets $S$ of $\mathfrak{S}_n$ consisting of permutations avoiding patterns, the corresponding integer sequences $\left\lbrace \dim_k\left(\frac{R}{I_S^{[\mathbf{n}]}}\right) \right\rbrace_{n=1}^{\infty}$ are identified.
Permutations of N generated by left-right filling algorithms
We give an in depth analysis of an algorithm that generates permutations of the natural numbers introduced by Clark Kimberling in the On Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences. It turns out that the examples of such permutations in OEIS are completely determined by 3-automatic sequences.

A Norton algebra is an eigenspace of a distance regular graph endowed with a commutative nonassociative product called the Norton product, which is defined as the projection of the entrywise product onto this eigenspace. The Norton algebras are useful in finite group theory as they have interesting automorphism groups. We provide a precise quantitative measurement for the nonassociativity of the Norton product on the eigenspace of the second largest eigenvalue of the Johnson graphs, Grassman graphs, Hamming graphs, and dual polar graphs, based on the formulas for this product established in previous work of Levstein, Maldonado and Penazzi. Our result shows that this product is as nonassociative as possible except for two cases, one being the trivial vanishing case while the other having connections with the integer sequence A000975 on OEIS and the so-called double minus operation studied recently by Huang, Mickey, and Xu.

Let $G$ be a complex simply-laced semisimple algebraic group of rank $r$ and $B$ a Borel subgroup. Let $\mathbf i \in [r]^n$ be a word and let $\mathbf \ell = (\ell_1,\dots,\ell_n)$ be a sequence of non-negative integers. Grossberg and Karshon introduced a virtual lattice polytope associated to $\mathbf i$ and $\mathbf \ell$ called a twisted cube, whose lattice points encode the character of a $B$-representation. More precisely, lattice points in the twisted cube, counted with sign according to a certain density function, yields the character of the generalized Demazure module determined by $\mathbf i$ and $\mathbf \ell$. In recent work, the author and Harada described precisely when the Grossberg-Karshon twisted cube is untwisted, i.e., the twisted cube is a closed convex polytope, in the situation when the integer sequence $\mathbf \ell$ comes from a weight $λ$ of $G$. However, not every integer sequence $\mathbf \ell$ comes from a weight of $G$. In the present paper, we interpret untwistedness of Grossberg-Karshon twisted cubes associated to any word $\mathbf i$ and any integer sequence $\mathbf \ell$ using the combinatorics of $\mathbf i$ and $\mathbf \ell$. Indeed, we prove that the Grossberg-Karshon twisted cube is untwisted precisely when $\mathbf i$ is hesitant-jumping-$\mathbf \ell$-walk-avoiding.

Catalan words are particular growth-restricted words counted by the eponymous integer sequence. In this article we consider Catalan words avoiding a pair of patterns of length 3, pursuing the recent initiating work of the first and last authors and of S. Kirgizov where (among other things) the enumeration of Catalan words avoiding a patterns of length 3 is completed. More precisely, we explore systematically the structural properties of the sets of words under consideration and give enumerating results by means of recursive decomposition, constructive bijections or bivariate generating functions with respect to the length and descent number. Some of the obtained enumerating sequences are known, and thus the corresponding results establish new combinatorial interpretations for them.
On sequences associated to the invariant theory of rank two simple Lie algebras
We study two families of sequences, listed in the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (OEIS), which are associated to invariant theory of Lie algebras. For the first family, we prove combinatorially that the sequences A059710 and A108307 are related by a binomial transform. Based on this, we present two independent proofs of a recurrence equation for A059710, which was conjectured by Mihailovs. Besides, we also give a direct proof of Mihailovs' conjecture by the method of algebraic residues. As a consequence, closed formulae for the generating function of sequence A059710 are obtained in terms of classical Gaussian hypergeometric functions. Moreover, we show that sequences in the second family are also related by binomial transforms.
Note on sequences A123192, A137396 and A300453
We give the connection between three polynomials that generate triangles in The On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (A123192, A137396 and A300453). We show that they are related with the bracket polynomial for the (2,n)-torus knot

In this paper the approach to obtaining nonrecurrent formulas for some recursively defined sequences is illustrated. The most interesting result in the paper is the formula for the solution of quadratic map-like recurrence. Also, some formulas for the solutions of linear difference equations with variable coefficients are obtained. At the end of the paper, some integer sequences associated with a quadratic map are considered.

Using three supercomputers, we broke a record set in 2011, in the enumeration of non-isomorphic regular graphs by expanding the sequence of A006820 in Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (OEIS), to achieve the number for 4-regular graphs of order 23 as 429,668,180,677,439, while discovering serval optimal regular graphs with minimum average shortest path lengths (ASPL) that can be used as interconnection networks for parallel computers. The number of 4-regular graphs and the optimal graphs, extremely time-consuming to calculate, result from a method we adapt from GENREG, a classical regular graph generator, to fit for supercomputers' strengths of using thousands of processor cores.
The number of rooted forests in circulant graphs

In this paper, we develop a new method to produce explicit formulas for the number $f_{G}(n)$ of rooted spanning forests in the circulant graphs $ G=C_{n}(s_1,s_2,\ldots,s_k)$ and $ G=C_{2n}(s_1,s_2,\ldots,s_k,n).$ These formulas are expressed through Chebyshev polynomials. We prove that in both cases the number of rooted spanning forests can be represented in the form $f_{G}(n)=p\,a(n)^2,$ where $a(n)$ is an integer sequence and $p$ is a prescribed natural number depending on the parity of $n$. Finally, we find an asymptotic formula for $f_{G}(n)$ through the Mahler measure of the associated Laurent polynomial $P(z)=2k+1-\sum\limits_{i=1}^k(z^{s_i}+z^{-s_i}).$

Let $σ$ be a permutation on $n$ letters. We say that a permutation $τ$ is an even (resp. odd) $k$th root of $σ$ if $τ^k=σ$ and $τ$ is an even (resp. odd) permutation. In this article, we obtain generating functions for the number of even and odd $k$th roots of permutations. Our result implies know generating functions of Moser and Wyman and also some generating functions for sequences in The On-line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (OEIS).
Consecutive patterns in inversion sequences II: avoiding patterns of relations
Inversion sequences are integer sequences $e=e_{1}e_{2}\dots e_{n}$ such that $0\leq e_{i}<i$ for each $i$. The study of patterns in inversion sequences was initiated by Corteel--Martinez--Savage--Weselcouch and Mansour--Shattuck in the classical (non-consecutive) case, and later by Auli--Elizalde in the consecutive case, where the entries of a pattern are required to occur in adjacent positions. In this paper we continue this investigation by considering {\em consecutive patterns of relations}, in analogy to the work of Martinez--Savage in the classical case. Specifically, given two binary relations $R_{1},R_2\in\{\leq,\geq,<,>,=,\neq\}$, we study inversion sequences $e$ with no subindex $i$ such that $e_{i}R_{1}e_{i+1}R_{2}e_{i+2}$.
By enumerating such inversion sequences according to their length, we obtain well-known quantities such as Catalan numbers, Fibonacci numbers and central polynomial numbers, relating inversion sequences to other combinatorial structures. We also classify consecutive patterns of relations into Wilf equivalence classes, according to the number of inversion sequences avoiding them, and into more restrictive classes that consider the positions of the occurrences of the patterns.
As a byproduct of our techniques, we obtain a simple bijective proof of a result of Baxter--Shattuck and Kasraoui about Wilf-equivalence of vincular patterns, and we prove a conjecture of Martinez and Savage, as well as related enumeration formulas for inversion sequences satisfying certain unimodality conditions.

Recent work of the first author, Negut and Rasmussen, and of Oblomkov and Rozansky in the context of Khovanov--Rozansky knot homology produces a family of polynomials in $q$ and $t$ labeled by integer sequences. These polynomials can be expressed as equivariant Euler characteristics of certain line bundles on flag Hilbert schemes. The $q,t$-Catalan numbers and their rational analogues are special cases of this construction. In this paper, we give a purely combinatorial treatment of these polynomials and show that in many cases they have nonnegative integer coefficients.
For sequences of length at most 4, we prove that these coefficients enumerate subdiagrams in a certain fixed Young diagram and give an explicit symmetric chain decomposition of the set of such diagrams. This strengthens results of Lee, Li and Loehr for $(4,n)$ rational $q,t$-Catalan numbers.
On Restricted Ternary Words and Insets
We investigate combinatorial properties of a kind of insets we defined in an earlier paper, interpreting them now in terms of restricted ternary words. This allows us to give new combinatorial interpretations of a number of known integer sequences, namely the coefficients of Chebyshev polynomials of both kinds, Fibonacci numbers, Delannoy numbers, asymmetric Delannoy numbers, Sulanke numbers, coordinating sequences for some cubic lattices, crystal ball sequences for some cubic lattices, and others. We also obtain several new properties of said insets. In particular, we derive three generating functions when two of three variables are constant.
At the end, we state 40 combinatorial configurations counted by our words.
Every quasitrivial n-ary semigroup is reducible to a semigroup
We show that every quasitrivial n-ary semigroup is reducible to a binary semigroup, and we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for such a reduction to be unique. These results are then refined in the case of symmetric n-ary semigroups. We also explicitly determine the sizes of these classes when the semigroups are defined on finite sets. As a byproduct of these enumerations, we obtain several new integer sequences.

An inversion sequence of length $n$ is an integer sequence $e=e_{1}e_{2}\dots e_{n}$ such that $0\leq e_{i}<i$ for each $i$. Corteel--Martinez--Savage--Weselcouch and Mansour--Shattuck began the study of patterns in inversion sequences, focusing on the enumeration of those that avoid classical patterns of length 3. We initiate an analogous systematic study of consecutive patterns in inversion sequences, namely patterns whose entries are required to occur in adjacent positions. We enumerate inversion sequences that avoid consecutive patterns of length 3, and generalize some results to patterns of arbitrary length. Additionally, we study the notion of Wilf equivalence of consecutive patterns in inversion sequences, as well as generalizations of this notion analogous to those studied for permutation patterns. We classify patterns of length up to 4 according to the corresponding Wilf equivalence relations.
