We present a particular connection between classical partition combinatorics and the theory of quiver representations. Specifically, we give a bijective proof of an analogue of A. L. Cauchy's Durfee square identity to multipartitions. We then use this result to give a new proof of M. Reineke's identity in the case of quivers $Q$ of Dynkin type $A$ of arbitrary orientation. Our identity is stated in terms of the lacing diagrams of S. Abeasis - A. Del Fra, which parameterize orbits of the representation space of $Q$ for a fixed dimension vector.
On the enumeration of k-omino towers

We describe a class of fixed polyominoes called $k$-omino towers that are created by stacking rectangular blocks of size $k\times 1$ on a convex base composed of these same $k$-omino blocks. By applying a partition to the set of $k$-omino towers of fixed area $kn$, we give a recurrence on the $k$-omino towers therefore showing the set of $k$-omino towers is enumerated by a Gauss hypergeometric function. The proof in this case implies a more general hypergeometric identity with parameters similar to those given in a classical result of Kummer.

We investigate the Brezin-Gross-Witten model, a tau-function of the KdV hierarchy, and its natural one-parameter deformation, the generalized Brezin-Gross-Witten tau-function. In particular, we derive the Virasoro constraints, which completely specify the partition function. We solve them in terms of the cut-and-join operator. The Virasoro constraints lead to the loop equations, which we solve in terms of the correlation functions. Explicit expressions for the coefficients of the tau-function and the free energy are derived, and a compact formula for the genus zero contribution is conjectured. A family of polynomial solutions of the KdV hierarchy, given by the Schur functions, is obtained for the half-integer values of the parameter. The quantum spectral curve and its classical limit are discussed.
Identities between dimer partition functions on different surfaces

Given a weighted graph $G$ embedded in a non-orientable surface $Σ$, one can consider the corresponding weighted graph $\widetilde{G}$ embedded in the so-called orientation cover $\widetildeΣ$ of $Σ$. We prove identities relating twisted partition functions of the dimer model on these two graphs. When $Σ$ is the Möbius strip or the Klein bottle, then $\widetildeΣ$ is the cylinder or the torus, respectively, and under some natural assumptions, these identities imply relations between the genuine dimer partition functions $Z(G)$ and $Z(\widetilde{G})$. For example, we show that if $G$ is a locally but not globally bipartite graph embedded in the Möbius strip, then $Z(\widetilde{G})$ is equal to the square of $Z(G)$. This extends results for the square lattice previously obtained by various authors.

We use the $q$-binomial theorem, the $q$-Gauss sum, and the ${}_2φ_1 \rightarrow {}_2φ_2$ transformation of Jackson to discover and prove many new weighted partition identities. These identities involve unrestricted partitions, overpartitions, and partitions with distinct even parts. Smallest part of the partitions plays an important role in our analysis. This work was motivated in part by the research of Krishna Alladi.
Exponential Patterns in Arithmetic Ramsey Theory

We show that for every finite colouring of the natural numbers there exists $a,b >1$ such that the triple $\{a,b,a^b\}$ is monochromatic. We go on to show the partition regularity of a much richer class of patterns involving exponentiation. For example, as a corollary to our main theorem, we show that for every $n \in \mathbb{N}$ and for every finite colouring of the natural numbers, we may find a monochromatic set including the integers $x_1,\ldots,x_n >1$; all products of distinct $x_i$; and all "exponential compositions" of distinct $x_i$ which respect the order $x_1,\ldots,x_n$. In particular, for every finite colouring of the natural numbers one can find a monochromatic quadruple of the form $\{ a,b,ab,a^b \}$, where $a,b>1$.

We construct bases of the simple modules for partition algebras which are indexed by paths in an alcove geometry. This allows us to give a concrete interpretation (and new proof) of the monotone convergence property for Kronecker coefficients using stratifications of the cell modules of the partition algebra.
On conjugacy classes of $S_n$ containing all irreducibles

It is shown that for the conjugation action of the symmetric group $S_n,$ when $n=6$ or $n\geq 8,$ all $S_n$-irreducibles appear as constituents of a single conjugacy class, namely, one indexed by a partition $λ$ of $n$ with at least two parts, whose parts are all distinct and taken from the set of odd primes and 1. The following simple characterisation of conjugacy classes containing all irreducibles is proved: If $n\neq 4,8,$ the partition $λ$ of $n$ indexes a global conjugacy class for $S_n$ if and only if it has at least two parts, and all its parts are odd and distinct.

In this paper, we give a conjecture, which generalises Euler's partition theorem involving odd parts and different parts for all moduli. We prove this conjecture for two family partitions. We give $q$-difference equations for the related generating function if the moduli is three. We provide new companions to Rogers-Ramanujan-Andrews-Gordon identities under this conjecture.

We present a systematic study of the regularity phenomena for NIP hypergraphs and connections to the theory of (locally) generically stable measures, providing a model-theoretic hypergraph version of the results from [L. Lovász, B. Szegedy, "Regularity partitions and the topology of graphons", An irregular mind, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2010, 415-446]. Besides, we revise the two extremal cases of regularity for stable and distal hypergraphs, improving and generalizing the results from [A. Chernikov, S. Starchenko, "Regularity lemma for distal structures", J. Eur. Math. Soc. 20 (2018), 2437-2466] and [M. Malliaris, S. Shelah, "Regularity lemmas for stable graphs", Transactions of the American Mathematical Society, 366.3, 2014, 1551-1585]. Finally, we consider a related question of the existence of large (approximately) homogeneous definable subsets of NIP hypergraphs and provide some positive results and counterexamples.
Doubly Balanced Connected Graph Partitioning

We introduce and study the Doubly Balanced Connected graph Partitioning (DBCP) problem: Let $G=(V,E)$ be a connected graph with a weight (supply/demand) function $p:V\rightarrow \{-1,+1\}$ satisfying $p(V)=\sum_{j\in V} p(j)=0$. The objective is to partition $G$ into $(V_1,V_2)$ such that $G[V_1]$ and $G[V_2]$ are connected, $|p(V_1)|,|p(V_2)|\leq c_p$, and $\max\{\frac{|V_1|}{|V_2|},\frac{|V_2|}{|V_1|}\}\leq c_s$, for some constants $c_p$ and $c_s$. When $G$ is 2-connected, we show that a solution with $c_p=1$ and $c_s=3$ always exists and can be found in polynomial time. Moreover, when $G$ is 3-connected, we show that there is always a `perfect' solution (a partition with $p(V_1)=p(V_2)=0$ and $|V_1|=|V_2|$, if $|V|\equiv 0 (\mathrm{mod}~4)$), and it can be found in polynomial time. Our techniques can be extended, with similar results, to the case in which the weights are arbitrary (not necessarily $\pm 1$), and to the case that $p(V)\neq 0$ and the excess supply/demand should be split evenly. They also apply to the problem of partitioning a graph with two types of nodes into two large connected subgraphs that preserve approximately the proportion of the two types.
Fine structure of moments of the KMK transform of the Poissonized Plancharel measure
We consider asymptotics behavior of Poissonized Plancharel measures as the poissonization parameter $N$ goes to infinity. Recently Moll proved a convergent series expansion for statistics of a measure $μ_λ$ which is the Kerov-Markov-Krein transform of the signed measure on corners a Jack-random partition $λ$. The measure $μ_λ$ is of interest because it behaves in some ways like the empirical measure on eigenvalues of a GUE-random matrix. We prove for the Poissonized Plancharel case that the large $N$ series for moments of $μ_λ$ have a recursive structure as rational expressions in the generating function for Catalan numbers. We discuss the analogy between our result and the fine structure of moments of the GUE.

In this paper, we investigate hypergroups which arise from association schemes in a canonical way; this class of hypergroups is called realizable. We first study basic algebraic properties of realizable hypergroups. Then we prove that two interesting classes of hypergroups (partition hypergroups and linearly ordered hypergroups) are realizable. Along the way, we prove that a certain class of projective geometries is equipped with a canonical association scheme structure which allows us to link three objects; association schemes, hypergroups, and projective geometries.

Let $F$ be a 4-regular graph. Each circuit partition $P$ of $F$ has a corresponding touch-graph $Tch(P)$; the circuits in $P$ correspond to vertices of $Tch(P)$, and the vertices of $F$ correspond to edges of $Tch(P)$. We discuss the connection between modified versions of the interlacement matrix of an Euler system of $F$ and the cycle space of $Tch(P)$, over $GF(2)$ and $\mathbb{R}$.

We say that an unordered rooted labeled forest avoids the pattern $π\in\mathcal{S}_n$ if the sequence obtained from the labels along the path from the root to any vertex does not contain a subsequence that is in the same relative order as $π$. We enumerate several classes of forests that avoid certain sets of permutations, including the set of unimodal forests, via bijections with set partitions with certain properties. We also define and investigate an analog of Wilf-equivalence for forests.
Littlewood-Richardson coefficients for Grothendieck polynomials from integrability

We study the Littlewood-Richardson coefficients of double Grothendieck polynomials indexed by Grassmannian permutations. Geometrically, these are the structure constants of the equivariant $K$-theory ring of Grassmannians. Representing the double Grothendieck polynomials as partition functions of an integrable vertex model, we use its Yang-Baxter equation to derive a series of product rules for the former polynomials and their duals. The Littlewood-Richardson coefficients that arise can all be expressed in terms of puzzles without gashes, which generalize previous puzzles obtained by Knutson-Tao and Vakil.

The central object of study is a formal power series that we call the content series, a symmetric function involving an arbitrary underlying formal power series $f$ in the contents of the cells in a partition. In previous work we have shown that the content series satisfies the KP equations. The main result of this paper is a new partial differential equation for which the content series is the unique solution, subject to a simple initial condition. This equation is expressed in terms of families of operators that we call $\mathcal{U}$ and $\mathcal{D}$ operators, whose action on the Schur symmetric function $s_λ$ can be simply expressed in terms of powers of the contents of the cells in $λ$. Among our results, we construct the ${\mathcal{U}}$ and ${\mathcal{D}}$ operators explicitly as partial differential operators in the underlying power sum symmetric functions. We also give a combinatorial interpretation for the content series in terms of the Jucys-Murphy elements in the group algebra of the symmetric group. This leads to an interpretation for the content series as a generating series for branched covers of the sphere by a Riemann surface of arbitrary genus $g$. As particular cases, by suitable choice of the underlying series $f$, the content series specializes to the generating series for three known classes of branched covers: Hurwitz numbers, monotone Hurwitz numbers, and $m$-hypermap numbers. We apply our pde to give new proofs of the explicit formulas for these three classes of number in genus $0$. In the case of the $m$-hypermap numbers of Bousquet-Mélou and Schaeffer, this is the first algebraic proof of this result.

We study a one-parameter family ($\ell=1,2,3,\ldots$) of configurations that are square-ice analogues of plane partitions. Using an algorithm due to Bratley and McKay, we carry out exact enumerations in order to study their asymptotic behaviour and establish, via Monte Carlo simulations as well as explicit bounds, that the asymptotic behaviour is similar to that of plane partitions. We finally carry out a series analysis and provide independent estimates for the asymptotic behaviour.
The chromatic number of the square of the 8-cube

A cube-like graph is a Cayley graph for the elementary abelian group of order $2^n$. In studies of the chromatic number of cube-like graphs, the $k$th power of the $n$-dimensional hypercube, $Q_n^k$, is frequently considered. This coloring problem can be considered in the framework of coding theory, as the graph $Q_n^k$ can be constructed with one vertex for each binary word of length $n$ and edges between vertices exactly when the Hamming distance between the corresponding words is at most $k$. Consequently, a proper coloring of $Q_n^k$ corresponds to a partition of the $n$-dimensional binary Hamming space into codes with minimum distance at least $k+1$. The smallest open case, the chromatic number of $Q_8^2$, is here settled by finding a 13-coloring. Such 13-colorings with specific symmetries are further classified.

Over the past twenty years, lecture hall partitions have emerged as fundamental combinatorial structures, leading to new generalizations and interpretations of classical theorems and new results. In recent years, geometric approaches to lecture hall partitions have used polyhedral geometry to discover further properties of these rich combinatorial objects.
In this paper we give an overview of some of the surprising connections that have surfaced in the process of trying to understand the lecture hall partitions.
