Combining the Mersenne Twister and the Xorgens Designs
We combine the design of two \emph{random number generators}, \emph{Mersenne Twister} and \emph{Xorgens}, to obtain a new class of generators with heavy-weight characteristic polynomials (exceeded only by the {\sc well} generators) and high speed (comparable with the originals). Tables with parameter combinations are included for state sizes ranging from 521 to 44497 bits and each of the word lengths 32, 64, 128. These generators passed all tests of the \emph{TestU01}-package for each 32-bit integer part and each 64-bit derived real part of the output. We determine \emph{dimension gaps} for 32-bit words, neglecting the non-linear tempering, and compare with an alternative experimental linear tempering.

During the study of dual sequences, Sun introduced the polynomials \[ D_n(x,y)=\sum_{k=0}^{n}{n\choose k}{x\choose k}y^k\text{ and } S_n(x,y)=\sum_{k=0}^{n}\binom{n}{k}\binom{x}{k}\binom{-1-x}{k} y^k. \] Many related congruences have been established and conjectured by Sun. Here we generalize some of them by determining \[ \sum_{k=0}^{p-1}D_k(x_1,y_1)D_k(x_2,y_2)\pmod p \text{ and } \sum_{k=0}^{p-1}S_k(x_1,y_1)S_k(x_2,y_2)\pmod p \] for any odd prime $p$ and $p$-adic integers $x_i,\ y_i$ with $i\in\{1,2\}$. Considering the immediate connection between binomial coefficients and Catalan numbers, we also characterize \[ \sum_{n=0}^{p-1}\left(\sum_{k=0}^n {n \choose k} \frac{C_k}{a^k}\right)^2 \pmod {p}, \] where $C_k$ denotes the $k$th Catalan number, $a\in\mathbb{Z}\setminus \{0\}$ with $\gcd(a,p)=1$. These confirm and generalise some of Sun's conjectures.
Dimension-expanding polynomials and the discretized Elekes-Rónyai theorem
We characterize when bivariate real analytic functions are "dimension expanding" when applied to a Cartesian product. If $P$ is a bivariate real analytic function that is not locally of the form $P(x,y) = h(a(x) + b(y))$, then whenever $A$ and $B$ are Borel subsets of $\mathbb{R}$ with Hausdorff dimension $0<α<1$, we have that $P(A,B)$ has Hausdorff dimension at least $α+ ε$ for some $ε(α)>0$ that is independent of $P$. The result is sharp, in the sense that no estimate of this form can hold if $P(x,y) = h(a(x) + b(y))$. We also prove a more technical single-scale version of this result, which is an analogue of the Elekes-Rónyai theorem in the setting of the Katz-Tao discretized ring conjecture. As an application, we show that a discretized non-concentrated set cannot have small nonlinear projection under three distinct analytic projection functions, provided that the corresponding 3-web has non-vanishing Blaschke curvature.

We give a Chevalley formula for an arbitrary weight for the torus-equivariant $K$-group of semi-infinite flag manifolds, which is expressed in terms of the quantum alcove model. As an application, we prove the Chevalley formula for an anti-dominant fundamental weight for the (small) torus-equivariant quantum $K$-theory $QK_{T}(G/B)$ of an (ordinary) flag manifold $G/B$; this has been a longstanding conjecture about the multiplicative structure of $QK_{T}(G/B)$. In type $A_{n-1}$, we prove that the so-called quantum Grothendieck polynomials indeed represent (opposite) Schubert classes in the (non-equivariant) quantum $K$-theory $QK(SL_{n}/B)$; we also obtain very explicit information about the coefficients in the respective Chevalley formula.

We report a closed-form formula for the Zhang-Zhang polynomial (aka ZZ polynomial or Clar covering polynomial) of an important class of elementary pericondensed benzenoids $Rb\left(n_{1},n_{2},m_{1},m_{2}\right)$ usually referred to as ribbons. A straightforward derivation is based on the recently developed interface theory of benzenoids [Langner and Witek, MATCH Commun. Math. Comput. Chem. 84, 143--176 (2020)]. The discovered formula provides compact expressions for various topological invariants of $Rb\left(n_{1},n_{2},m_{1},m_{2}\right)$: the number of Kekulé structures, the number of Clar covers, its Clar number, and the number of Clar structures. The last two classes of elementary benzenoids, for which closed-form ZZ polynomial formulas remain to be found, are hexagonal flakes $O\left(k,m,n\right)$ and oblate rectangles $Or\left(m,n\right)$.
Determinants and Limit Systems in some Idempotent and Non-Associative Algebraic Structure

This paper considers an idempotent and symmetrical algebraic structure as well as some closely related concept. A special notion of determinant is introduced and a Cramer formula is derived for a class of limit systems derived from the Hadamard matrix product and we give the algebraic form of a sequence of hyperplanes passing through a finite number of points. Thereby, some standard results arising for Max-Times systems with nonnegative entries appear as a special case. The case of two sided systems is also analyzed. In addition, a notion of eigenvalue in limit is considered. It is shown that one can construct a special semi-continuous regularized polynomial to find the eigenvalues of a matrix with nonnegative entries.

We propose new Pieri type formulas for Jack polynomials, which is another kind of Pieri type formulas than the ones in the previous paper (G. Shibukawa, arXiv:2004.12875). From these new Pieri type formulas, we give yet another proof of difference and Pieri formulas for interpolation Jack polynomials. Further, we also generalize a falling type twisted Pieri formula to the binomial type polynomials including Jack and multivariate Bernoulli polynomials.
In how many distinct ways can flocks be formed? A problem in sheep combinatorics
In this short paper, we extend the concept of the strict order polynomial $Ω_{P}^{\circ}(n)$, which enumerates the number of strict order-preserving maps $φ:P\rightarrow\boldsymbol{n}$ for a poset $P$, to the extended strict order polynomial $\text{E}_{P}^{\circ}(n,z)$, which enumerates analogous maps for the elements of the power set $\mathcal{P}(P)$. The problem at hand immediately reduces to the problem of enumeration of linear extensions for the subposets of $P$. We show that for every $Q\subset P$ a given linear extension $v$ of $Q$ can be associated with a unique linear extension $w$ of $P$. The number of such linear extensions $v$ (of length $k$) associated with a given linear extension $w$ of $P$ can be expressed compactly as $\binom{\text{del}_{P}(w)}{k}$, where $\text{del}_{P}(w)$ is the number of deletable elements of $w$ defined in the text. Consequently the extended strict order polynomial $\text{E}_{P}^{\circ}(n,z)$ can be represented as $ \text{E}_{P}^{\circ}(n,z)=\sum_{w\in\mathcal{L}(P)}\sum_{k=0}^{p}\binom{\text{del}_{P}(w)}{p-k}\binom{n+\text{des}(w)}{k}z^{k}$. The derived equation can be used for example for solving the following combinatorial problem: Consider a community of $p$ shepherds, some of whom are connected by a master-apprentice relation (expressed as a poset $P$). Every morning, $k$ of the shepherds go out and each of them herds a flock of sheep. Community tradition stipulates that each of these $k$ shepherds will herd at least one and at most $n$ sheep, and an apprentice will always herd fewer sheep than his master (or his master's master, etc). In how many ways can the flocks be formed? The strict order polynomial answers this question for the case in which all $p$ shepherds go to work, and the extended strict order polynomial considers also all the situations in which some of the shepherds decide to take a day off.
The structure of translational tilings in $\mathbb{Z}^d$
We obtain structural results on translational tilings of periodic functions in $\mathbb{Z}^d$ by finite tiles. In particular, we show that any level one tiling of a periodic set in $\mathbb{Z}^2$ must be weakly periodic (the disjoint union of sets that are individually periodic in one direction), but present a counterexample of a higher level tiling of $\mathbb{Z}^2$ that fails to be weakly periodic. We also establish a quantitative version of the two-dimensional periodic tiling conjecture which asserts that any finite tile in $\mathbb{Z}^2$ that admits a tiling, must admit a periodic tiling, by providing a polynomial bound on the period; this also gives an exponential-type bound on the computational complexity of the problem of deciding whether a given finite subset of $\mathbb{Z}^2$ tiles or not. As a byproduct of our structural theory, we also obtain an explicit formula for a universal period for all tilings of a one-dimensional tile.
Symmetric polynomials associated with numerical semigroups
We study a new kind of symmetric polynomials P_n(x_1,...,x_m) of degree n in m real variables, which have arisen in the theory of numerical semigroups. We establish their basic properties and find their representation through the power sums E_k=\sum_{j=1}^m x_j^k. We observe a visual similarity between normalized polynomials P_n(x_1,...,x_m)/χ_m, where χ_m=\prod_{j=1}^m x_j, and a polynomial part of a partition function W(s,{d_1,...,d_m}), which gives a number of partitions of s\ge 0 into m positive integers d_j, and put forward a conjecture about their relationship.
Poincaré polynomial for fully commutative elements in the symmetric group
Let $W^c(A_n)$ be the set of fully commutative elements of the Coxeter group $W(A_n)$. Let $$ a_n(q)= \sum_{w \in W^c(A_n)} q^{l(w)} . $$ We compute $a_n(q)$.

We prove that the $K$-$k$-Schur functions are part of a family of inhomogenous symmetric functions whose top homogeneous components are Catalan functions, the Euler characteristics of certain vector bundles on the flag variety. Lam-Schilling-Shimozono identified the $K$-$k$-Schur functions as Schubert representatives for $K$-homology of the affine Grassmannian for SL$_{k+1}$. Our perspective reveals that the $K$-$k$-Schur functions satisfy a shift invariance property, and we deduce positivity of their branching coefficients from a positivity result of Baldwin and Kumar. We further show that a slight adjustment of our formulation for $K$-$k$-Schur functions produces a second shift-invariant basis which conjecturally has both positive branching and a rectangle factorization property. Building on work of Ikeda-Iwao-Maeno, we conjecture that this second basis gives the images of the Lenart-Maeno quantum Grothendieck polynomials under a $K$-theoretic analog of the Peterson isomorphism.

Let $v$ be an odd real polynomial (i.e. a polynomial of the form $\sum_{j=1}^\ell a_jx^{2j-1}$). We utilize sets of iterated differences to establish new results about sets of the form $\mathcal R(v,ε)=\{n\in\mathbb{N}\,|\,\|v(n)\|{<ε\}}$ where $\|\cdot\|$ denotes the distance to the closest integer. We then apply the new diophantine results to obtain applications to ergodic theory and combinatorics. In particular, we obtain a new characterization of weakly mixing systems as well as a new variant of Furstenberg-Sárközy theorem.
Well-Totally-Dominated Graphs
A subset of vertices in a graph is called a total dominating set if every vertex of the graph is adjacent to at least one vertex of this set. A total dominating set is called minimal if it does not properly contain another total dominating set. In this paper, we study graphs whose all minimal total dominating sets have the same size, referred to as well-totally-dominated (WTD) graphs. We first show that WTD graphs with bounded total domination number can be recognized in polynomial time. Then we focus on WTD graphs with total domination number two. In this case, we characterize triangle-free WTD graphs and WTD graphs with packing number two, and we show that there are only finitely many planar WTD graphs with minimum degree at least three. Lastly, we show that if the minimum degree is at least three then the girth of a WTD graph is at most 12. We conclude with several open questions.
Completeness of Positive Linear Recurrence Sequences
A sequence of positive integers is complete if every positive integer is a sum of distinct terms. A positive linear recurrence sequence (PLRS) is a sequence defined by a homogeneous linear recurrence relation with nonnegative coefficients of the form $H_{n+1} = c_1 H_n + \cdots + c_L H_{n-L+1}$ and a particular set of initial conditions.
We seek to classify various PLRS's by completeness. With results on how completeness is affected by modifying the recurrence coefficients of a PLRS, we completely characterize completeness of several families of PLRS's as well as conjecturing criteria for more general families. Our primary method is applying Brown's criterion, which says that an increasing sequence $\{H_n\}_{n = 1}^{\infty}$ is complete if and only if $H_1 = 1$ and $H_{n + 1} \leq 1 + \sum_{i = 1}^n H_i$.
%A survey of these results can be found in \cite{BHLLMT}.
Finally, we adopt previous analytic work on PLRS's to find a more efficient way to check completeness. Specifically, the characteristic polynomial of any PLRS has exactly one positive root; by bounding the size of this root, the majority of sequences may be classified as complete or incomplete. Additionally, we show there exists an indeterminate region where the principal root does not reveal any information on completeness. We have conjectured precise bounds for this region.
$q$-Supercongruences with parameters
In terms of the creative microscoping method recently introduced by Guo and Zudilin [Adv. Math. 346 (2019), 329--358], we find a $q$-supercongruence with four parameters modulo $Φ_n(q)(1-aq^n)(a-q^n)$, where $Φ_n(q)$ denotes the $n$-th cyclotomic polynomial in $q$. Then we empoly it and the Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials to derive a $q$-supercongruence with two parameters modulo $[n]Φ_n(q)^3$, where $[n]=(1-q^n)/(1-q)$ is the $q$-integer.

We refine necessary and sufficient conditions for the generating series of a weighted model of a quarter plane walk to be differentially algebraic. In addition, we give algorithms based on the theory of Mordell-Weil lattices, that, for each weighted model, yield polynomial conditions on the weights determining this property of the associated generating series.

Matrix Schubert varieties are the closures of the orbits of $B\times B$ acting on all $n\times n$ matrices, where $B$ is the group of invertible lower triangular matrices. Extending work of Fulton, Knutson and Miller identified a Gröbner basis for the prime ideals of these varieties. They also showed that the corresponding initial ideals are Stanley-Reisner ideals of shellable simplicial complexes, and derived a related primary decomposition in terms of reduced pipe dreams. These results lead to a geometric proof of the Billey-Jockusch-Stanley formula for a Schubert polynomial, among many other applications. We define skew-symmetric matrix Schubert varieties to be the nonempty intersections of matrix Schubert varieties with the subspace of skew-symmetric matrices. In analogy with Knutson and Miller's work, we describe a natural generating set for the prime ideals of these varieties. We then compute a related Gröbner basis. Using these results, we identify a primary decomposition for the corresponding initial ideals involving certain fpf-involution pipe dreams. We show that these initial ideals are likewise the Stanley-Reisner ideals of shellable simplicial complexes. As an application, we give a geometric proof of an explicit generating function for symplectic Grothendieck polynomials. Our methods differ from Knutson and Miller's and can be used to give new proofs of some of their results, as we explain at the end of this article.

Motivated by higher vanishing multiplicity generalizations of Alon's Combinatorial Nullstellensatz and its applications, we study the following problem: for fixed $k\geq 1$ and $n$ large with respect to $k$, what is the minimum possible degree of a polynomial $P\in \mathbb{R}[x_1,\dots,x_n]$ with $P(0,\dots,0)\neq 0$ such that $P$ has zeroes of multiplicity at least $k$ at all points in $\{0,1\}^n\setminus \{(0,\dots,0)\}$? For $k=1$, a classical theorem of Alon and Füredi states that the minimum possible degree of such a polynomial equals $n$. In this paper, we solve the problem for all $k\geq 2$, proving that the answer is $n+2k-3$. As an application, we improve a result of Clifton and Huang on configurations of hyperplanes in $\mathbb{R}^n$ such that each point in $\{0,1\}^n\setminus \{(0,\dots,0)\}$ is covered by at least $k$ hyperplanes, but the point $(0,\dots,0)$ is uncovered. Surprisingly, the proof of our result involves Catalan numbers and arguments from enumerative combinatorics.
